  3. I was wondering what people thought were the most important matches in different time periods and areas of the world. Things like Gotch-Hackensmidt on April 3, 1908 drew like 28,000. That's pretty damn important, but what are the matches like that in England, Mexico, Japan, etc.. ? Is Hogan-Andre at WM3 the most important or is their rematch on the Main Event with the largest audience at the time bigger?
  4. There was a time it would had made sense, but they are past that now. He was getting super over as a babyface having long matches with Cena. That would had been the time.
  5. So, Fatnastic Mania or whatever it is called has started. I'm very excited to see this actually and am even subscribing to NJPW World for the month. Will start watching soon.
  6. Busy week, show and TV a few days late.
  7. He's John the Baptist, Daniel Bryan is Jesus, and they have a lot of disciples. I think his run, when put in perspective, will look very impressive. He basically fought the system and paved the way for a lot of the current big stars to get their shot. That will gain in traction as those guys become TOP GUYS and discuss their influences. The idea that Punk paved the way for people has always been weird to me. Randy Savage was under 6 feet and got a year long reign in an era where the average guy was 6'4, 300 pounds. The 90s were built around "average" sized (comparatively, obviously) like Austin, Bret, and HBK being the top guys. The 2000s had guys like Angle, Benoit, and Eddie. He didn't do anything to fight the system. He complained about not being given the top guy stuff, then complained when he got the top guy stuff, then left, then complained some more. He didn't change the system. Bryan was going to get his title at some point even if it wasn't going to be at WM 30. There were already tons of indie guys hired and on TV that had nothing to do with Punk. WWE was hiring indie guys in the 90s, too. WWE really had no choice but to turn more to the indies for talent, because people that would have gone into wrestling a decade before were going into MMA or other sports. That wave of indie guys was coming regardless of if Punk had ever even been hired. Was it, because at the time the WWF hated indie guys and thought they worked wrong or could never make it. Punk and Bryan with all their talents were thought of as nobodies who couldn't work by the WWE and only got pushed because Punk got so over and Heyman was in his corner. The WWF was hiring athletes and training them, not turning to indies. They hired Punk but wanted to put him in the Spirit Squad and treat him like the joke they thought he was. Even when he got over they fought in for a long time. Punk paved the way.
  8. I have no idea what rhythem game is... Creep would depend on your age. Anyone in their mid 30's would know Creep way before Motorhead.
  9. Maybe not today, in the 90s and early 2000s yes. Actually there is no time from the mid 90s till today that Radiohead wasn't 2 thousands times more well known than Motorhead.
  10. Guy has never heard of Lemmy outside of WWE programming. Hasn't heard of Ace of Spades that was used on WWE programming in 2015. Has never heard of Rock Band/Guitar Hero. Yet I was the one getting told I was in a bubble earlier in the thread. Motorhead is not Radiohead or anything. It's a essentially a metal band and it's very easy for someone to have not known them, even if they heard their songs from time to time. I hear thousands of songs and I have no idea who sings them.
  11. This was the perfect WCW Nitro Cruiserweight match for me.
  12. Just a note, nominations and votes should be accompanied by a sentence or two explaining why.
  13. Superkick into the worm is spot of the year!
  14. Yes! Somebody besides me is praising this match! That makes me so happy. I love this and went as high as **** 1/4, but I agree with what Brad said here. I think I may just irrationally love Valiente.
  15. WCW could had been the greatest company ever, they could bring in folks like The Barbarian and Tracy Smothers.. but just waste them on 3 minute b-show matches. Fucking Oklahoma was the Cruiserweight Champion at the time, wtf? The match itself was a lot of fun for the short period it got. Both men did what they do well and it was just nice to see two favourites actually have a match, albeit nothing too special.
  16. This match ruled and it's a nice blend of two styles. This really is what ECW should had built around (with Super Crazy) not the endless Justin Credible stuff, but Tajiri as their new star (well with RVD). Tajiri should had been a mega awesome star in America, but sadly it was never meant to be.
  17. I rewatched this and bumped it up 1/4* from when I watched it two years ago. Tajiri is a sociopath here skipping chairs and throwing tables at the crowd. There is a real aura of danger with Tajiri on offense, plus the mocking! The MOCKING!! Crazy on offense wasn't as great, but it served it's purpose until that finishing sequence, which is all time great level. Tajiri shoves a wrench down Crazy's throat, nails a kick, gets countered, mists him, then gets countered into a power bomb for a Crazy win. This match rules!!! **** 1/2
  18. I really enjoyed this as well, as Psicosis is king sized here and Kidman more than held his own. I actually fell for the nearfall off the top rope legdrop by Psicosis. I agree with the *** rating and it's sad they never did more with Psicosis.
  19. Carlos Colon is one of those great babyface fire wrestlers and was a MASSIVE draw in Puerto Rico. Like Puerto Rico outdrew almost everybody in the US. If Brody wasn't killer there Colon would be a super legend.
  20. I am the highest on the UG match for sure.
  21. Did you watch the CMLL Super Friday show from January 6th? I had 3 matches at four stars or above from it The three singles matches, with Valiente-UG being the best.
  22. Yes to this, second best match on the show and a ton of fun. Cavernario selling a superkick by doing the worm was spot of the year.
  23. Fred Yehi vs Anthony Henry from Style Battle was a classic in matwork, stiff work and logical old school wrestling. My current match of the year. Valenite vs Ultimo Guerrero from that January 6th show was their best match yet and it added hate! Valiente was on a mission to beat UG doing 4 straight vicious tope's. UG was ripping mask, it was awesome. My third match of the year so far is Caifan vs Hechicero from Tijuana on January 6th as it was a slow building mat work match with lots of time given and a great progression of heat.
  24. Chavo vs Eddie happens 8n the 2000s.
