  1. So this is a worked tournament where the winning team gets money for their chosen charity? This seems problematic, to say the least. Where can I bet that the Connor's Cure team is going to win?
  2. The match itself was quite decent for what it was but everything around it makes me rather tear out my eyes instead of watching another WCW 2000 match / angle. I mean how much overbooking can you put into a throwaway 10 minute TV segment?
  3. Is it April, 1st already or does Vince just hate money? I assume that HHH is split on this while on the one hand it will shrink the inheritance of his wife on the other hand he will have even more power on the wrestling-side of things.
  4. After watching the two Hardy-Wyatt promos from the last two week on Youtube: this whole thing needs King Curtis Iaukea talking (well, shouting rather) about bathing in the river Ganges and climbing the 7th pyramid. Alternatively SeƱor Benjamin and King Maxel would help as well.
  5. I like this really simple and straightforward storytelling here. I was actually surprised that Steel did not already turn at the end of this segment.
  6. Strange booking to get rid of two of the best wrestlers of the promotion in one match. The commentary even gave the finish away by saying that both had signed WWF development contracts. The way they did it mostly put heat on the ref. The match was really intense and much better than a cage match between two guys with less than 1 year experiance (even containing some complicated stuff) has any right to be. That inverse slingshot suplex of Spanky looked really dangerous though, thankfully he cut this move from his arsenal as it really looked to be begging for some serious neck injury.

  9. If he uses the term "act" I would assume that at least a tag team or a trios team made it in.
  10. This kind of match is very hard to watch: two guys you have no emotional investment with having a 20+ minute match where they fail to create any drama, except some bullshit at the end involving Mike Rapada.
  11. He looks like a normal human being? That was my takeaway, he came off as a regular guy understandibly still bitter at his dad spending his whole life drinking and whoring instead of being a dad. A lot of the children of addicts have the same look on their faces that David had, the "he's an asshole but he's my dad, whattya going to do" expression. I just meant that he looked exasperated. I could see that in his first wife, and even Ashley to a degree too. His first wife actually seemed quite distant, like she has long come to the conclusion that Flair once he got big in wrestling was not the guy that she married anymore (I could also have phrased that much worse w.r.t. Flair) and has long closed that chapter of her life.
  12. I would be surprised if he won't end up in the Rumble for 40 minutes directing traffic anyway.

Of course I am joking, but that would be awesome nonetheless.
  14. Papi Chulo is really sloppy here, for example he overshot so much on the moonsault that I am really surprised that they still decided to go with that as the finish. It's not really surprising that he was doing job duties on C shows quite soon after this.
  15. This is also true physically (and true even more for Spanky). After signing the WWF development contract both guys most have spent lots of time in the gym.

I have been thinking about this the last couple of days. I think this could be Hero's way to the main roster. He should debut as Samoa Joe's third degree cousin "Samoa Chris" or "Kassius Samoa" (like Cocoa Samoa) and should form a tag team with him. Then in a big match against Sheamus & Cesaro (ideally for the tag team championship) Hero should turn on Joe Horseman-style and form a three man team with them and together they should rule Raw for a year Shield-style.
  17. Sad to see that they are doing another Enzo vs. Kalisto match at Survivor Series. Somehow I was hoping for a 205 Live 5 vs 5 elimination match, that could have been a lot more fun to watch, would definitely had more heat and could have turned some eyes on 205 Live.
  18. Loss was talking about these UK-only PPVs like One Night Only or Insurrextion, not world-wide PPVs. In the network era there are no real PPVs anyway (at least outside the US, in the US I suppose the shows are still available on some cable providers even though the official internet page of the Survivor Series 2017 does not even mention it), so the most they could do nowadays is running network specials from the UK which they actually did this year. Regarding them doing European tours before: I don't think that the WWF would have survived the mid 90ies without running lots of tours (like 6-8 a year; sometimes on German TV they were plugging two tours in parallel) in Europe during that time.
  19. This is a huge step forward in the career of Danielson here, so big in fact that first I thought this was mislabeled and happened a year or so later. The biggest flaws here were Danielson's weak strikes (especially the chops) and that he did not "wrestle small" against Cade here, something he did much better in the TV match between those two.
  20. So far Derrick King may be my favorite wrestler in 2000 of the guys that have never seen before. In 2017 a guy like that would be signed by WWE pretty fast, back then they went with the taller and bigger Kevin Fertig. By the way: I assume somebody already made this joke but Rob Harlem (Men on a Mission's Mo) looks like he has eaten Oscar.
  21. The face-in-peril stuff was a bit on the long side and I also did not like that they did the "hot tag behind the refs back" spot twice but otherwise this was a perfectly fine tag team match. My least favorite thing here was the opening angle with Lawler, Dundee and Bitty as this was shot the "WWF-attitude-way", i.e. no interviewer there, just the guys talking in front of a camera (which has no purpose being there) completely ignoring it (set aside the borderline racist remark by Lawler).
  22. After watching Memphis Heat I was wondering how much about Sputnik Monroe's story was folklore and how much was fact as the story just sounded too good to be completely true. He sounds definitely like a guy WWE should want to have in their hall of fame (I mean the story is a PR/PC wet dream).
  23. People often complain about WWE not doing "old school" gimmick matches or change the rules of them but in the case of Texas death matches the last man standing rules are a clear improvement. The match here was fine for a 5 minute Texas death match but it really shows how low the talent level of MPPW was compared to MCW, for example (not to talk about CWA/USWA), even though it was the show that looked and felt much more like the "old" Memphis wrestling.

I was watching Ohno vs. Itami yesterday. Hero never was super slim, but man, his legs now look as if he had Samoan genes.
