No worries. WWE is pretty set on Devitt being a huge babyface singles star. Becky's bread and butter is as a heel she an outstanding one glad her babyface days are over. By the by really I want a Sheamus turn to freshen him up.
-
I'll never understand the online obsession of grouping them together. Don't see the appeal either as babyfaces or heels. Would be such a hodge hodge of accents. Finn and Lynch have been packaged with non-stereotyped gimmicks. Devitt also seems to be packaged a straight ahead singles star rather than just a faction member. Devitt always been very careful to let Becky be her own wrestler/person publicly. Never really spoke about her interviews. Privately he is probably the reason why she returned to wrestling. I could see Devitt shooting down an on screen association.

There's a lot but there's also I a lot that I don't think are public. Bo Dallas and a 8 time World Arm Wrestling Champion Sarah Backman from Sweden marrying and marrying after just a couple of months. Sarah had a brief tenture in NXT:

Kharma would drive more website clicks than Awesome Kong. As simple as that. Or the lady that does Payroll in your office.

Apparently this story is in the book:

That's true. He's a little bit of a mark for himself for a lack of better word. He infamously held up the putting together of the 2013 All Star Money of the Bank match until late in the afternoon as essentially he insisted on getting all his shit in. The main rap against Sheamus is not that he works stiff is that he's seemingly unable to work light. Which sucks if you are wrestling him on live events, during long tours and while injured.

Didn't see much of the JAPW/New Japan shows a couple years ago. But Tanahashi does get over in the UK and what I've seen on Twitter Okada blew people's minds at the big Rev-Pro tonight in the UK. Thatcher's record on the other hand in front of various crowds is spotty. It is also worth noting that Thatcher eventually won over the PWG crowd. People here are running away with the PWG crowd are horrible narrative. I received PWG BOLA in the post on Friday will probably watch a lot of it tomorrow. I suggest people withold judgement until they see the match in question. As a general rule if you are going work PWG you really should have one or two cool spots either high spots or comedy as an ice breaker. That show was a really weird one. The crowd reactions for matches between what people on iPPV heard and what people who attended it live said they were in a completely different orders. It was just a case of the crowd mics were turned down or turned off it was that sound levels kept changing on the iPPV. I suggest if you are talking about the ROH/NJPW War of the Worlds. I stress that people should go off the live accounts of people who attended. If you base what Tanahashi is or isn't based off what you heard on the iPPV that night you might not come to the correct conclusion. That said Liger was super over for sure both live andon iPPV.
-
Not an excuse beyond the injury thing. That's just always been the case with a lot of Japanese Wrestlers. They largely Wrestle like THAT when they come to the UK too. Of this new wave of technical wrestlers Zack Sabre Jr. understands how to get over the most to Western audiences. By every and all accounts he ripped it up at BOLA. Blaming just the fans and not the Wrestlers is silly.
-
Not really. Tanahashi was hurting and he always tailors his performances to the size of the crowd as do most of his peers.
-
Is he that bad? I find Alvarez more annoying than him. The impression of Todd comes from people reading his Raw reviews. It is a pretty dated impression.
-
The BOLA reaction was an anti-CZW thing. The past page and a bit are biased people criticising other people for being biased. Fact of the matter is Thatcher isn't the most charismatic wrestler in the World and you can't control a crowd (with reason) you are a poor professional. If the promotion and person were different people would be talking about how he was EXPOSED.
-
There's obvious truth to it. Going back to the territories Wrestlers and Bookers would have their crew which they would bring in everywhere. Look at 80s WWF invasion of WCW when Hogan signed for WCW. It is about establishing a power base. I think Sheamus could be really big in 2014 if he got a real push but WWE won't push him ahead of Roman Reigns unless something drastic happens. So yes to answer your question they are doomed to the level they are at. I will say though it is kind hard to parse the HHH guy/Johnny guy thing with the natural course of running a Wrestling promotion Ziggler is 34 and Sheamus is 36 they aren't really young guys anymore. A 29 year old Roman Reigns is a more attractive proposition. That's rather overstated. As the man himself in May said:

The Ricardo shoot interview is a figure of humour among people in NXT and the indies. The idea he would stand down The Shield is the most humorous as his general assessment of his in ring abilities. I have personal knowledge that he didn't quit teaching NXT women he was removed. He's a total creep. Initially very charming but eventually you get a measure of him. If you think I am off base check out who he associates with in Florida Chasyn Rance: http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/flyer.do?personId=75813 His issues with Demott and his drills more than have validity though.
-
For sure it is ethic that made him what he is. Like Mick Foley and Bret Hart. That and he is an 80s type showman rock star. Just wish he was slightly more self aware. I don't think he is a bad dude or entirely self obsessed. How he compassionately handled the post release Drew McIntyre interview showed that. There's also this recent story: http://www.ringsidenews.com/article/19655/chris-jericho-helps-out-injured-fan-at-rock-festival/ worth noting from his first book that his mother is quadriplegic. Anyway the book itself.

Austin's Unleashed Show this week is going to be commentary synced up to his Wrestlemania 17 match against the Rock. Really liked the track Austin and Jim Ross did for that on Austin's last DVD set. The whole timing/rhythmic quality of that match being explained was really interesting.

Good Will Wrestling: Fixing the WWE PPV Schedule

Let me echo the praise. A very thought provoking show. Everyone seems to know what the calender often runs counter to the traditional feud cycle but I hadn't considered how dated some of the concepts are.- 13 replies

What do you mean by lacking self awareness? Too high an opinion of himself/his accomplishments? Just curious. I take it you don't follow him on Twitter or listen to his podcast. During his most recent WWE return he would talk about every PPV match he had stole the show or was match of the night. He is very showbizy/Hollywood too.

The Jim Cornette thing is true. But Dunn got a beating in the newsletters and online for being the Champion of the Diva Search.

Has anyone seen Tessa Blanchard yet? Daughter of Tully and raised by Magnum TV. Not the best picture of her on her own terms but it is most Tully looking: Haven't seen her Wrestle yet. She has only just started Wrestling. Her match at NWA Fanfest was supposed fairly poor but she has gotten favourable notices since.

I think Nick realises that a career in Wrestling for him is a marathon not a sprint. WWE will eventually hire him back in some capacity down the road. He has come back from worse and done so a couple of times actually.

Nick is a bit closed and old school when it comes to disclosure but still I really enjoyed this interview and especially your line/level of questions. The Devitt driving thing has resulted in great bemusement for me reading the reactions. Buying, taxing, insuring and fueling a car in Ireland is barely worth your time even if you are in Country full time. New Japan coach buses everyone around so there's no need to rent a car.
