FLIK
(JGP 92) Aja Kong vs Bison Kimura Added bonus, Debbie Malenko is in the booth doing commentary in english for the rest of the show. Soooooo remember in last years JGP these two met, beat the shit out of each other and then Bison riped apart Aja's bad ankle that she came into the match with and made her submit? Aja does and revenge is a bitch. This year they upped the violence, a few minutes in Bison has a bloody mouth and is bleeding hard way from getting head butted. Bison gives as good as she gets though, atleast when given the chance and this is one of the stiffer matches i've ever seen in joshi. Everything from kicks to chops to chair swinging, metal tossing crowd brawls is done with extra intensity. No one's safe either as ring atendants, the ref and who ever else gets in their way takes a beating during this. Aja dominates more often then not though and ocasionally would take a minute to lock in a hold or 2 or bust out a flying shoulder block or dropkick in between the beating whear as Bison's the more crazy of the pair and will just beat you down and then beat you down some more. By the end of this Bison's lost a front tooth, I think from a punt to the jaw mid match. She survives a couple of urakens near the end so Aja choke slams her nearly to hell then locks in a cross arm breaker for the insta tap, Aja flashes back to 91 and holds on a few extra seconds before being drug off. "God made the devil just for fun, but when he wanted the real thing he made Aja Kong" - Book of Shishido Chapter 1970 verse 925. It's all in the family though, Aja tends to her fallen team mate post match, helps her up and they hug. Aja screams at her to make it to the finals so they can meet again. Big Kimura chant from the fans. Great match if you're into the hard hitting, smash mouth (no pun intended) style. One of the best of the year. MJH
I can see people preferring this to the main event. Just a brutal war, the only real downside being that it ended Bison's career (for a few years, at least). I liked this more than the Aja/Bull singles matches (and their JGP '91 semi isn't bad either).
Loss
I had trouble getting into this. My hopes were high, but it just didn't come together like I hoped it would. Lots of stiff shots and brutality, but there was a lot of down time and the match was a little scattered all over the place. There's a point around 12 minutes in where Aja is standing in the ring and Kimura is standing outside of it for what seems like an eternity, and I've never been a fan of Kong's crowdhugging disguised as brawling. El-P
Insanely brutal match. Bison was a tough chick.
Tim Evans
The commentary is really annoying in this with Debbie giving short answers. Stiff match and Bison takes a beating. It was entertaining on Mute.
MJH
The commentary is really annoying in this with Debbie giving short answers. I'm pretty sure the guy translating for her was glad for it.
Kevin Ridge
They were whipping chairs at each other and I was cringing until the ref took an accidental chair shot to the back and completely no sold it. Very physical otherwise though.
Zenjo
Red hot start as they tore into each other with stiffness and brutality. Bison soon wore the crimson mask, yet it wasn't as one sided as you might expect. Aja controlled the flow and protected Bisons weaknesses in singles. A hate filled fight always got the best out of Kimura as she didn't have a great moveset. This match put over Aja so strong. What kind of monster would do this to her own tag partner?! WingedEagle
They slap and strike early, and its not long before Kong opens Kimura up with a headbutt. The English commentary here and on the rest of this show was not welcomed. Lots of brawling and brutal stiffness here, with some fun work in the crowd. After that things slow down and things drag as they pass time until the next brawling sequence. Nothing so special but a fine intro to who these are and Kong as a monster in AJW. Definitely different from the company's spotfests. The post-match was great to see after what they did to each other here. ***
PeteF3
Debbie's not an easy listen but I'm sure the short, basic responses were directed. Y'know, I thought this was kind of refreshing for a joshi match. Lots of blood and chair-throwing and brawling, but this was more of a nice, straightforward match instead of two girls trying to cram in every highspot imaginable. Reading the backstory helped a bit too--I wish I'd known about Bison getting a tapout on her so I could give her slightly more of a chance here. Aja reasserts herself and of course this ends with hugs.
MikeCampbell
This really didn't do anything for me, which surprised me because I usually like Aja's matches. It had the brutality I'd expect from Aja, but seemed to meander at times.
garretta
This was the type of brutal match that you'd expect with Jungle Jack facing off. Aja didn't spare her partner one bit, bloodying her eatly and staying on top of her all match long. Bison didn't get much in the way of offense, and Aja ended up scoring the submission victory. To be honest, I was more interested in hearing how the commentary situation worked out, as I will be n the other two matches for this card. Most of Debbie's answers were pretty basic, although she got off one line during the chair-throwing contest early on that I loved. She was talking about how Bison was going to have to clear her head after Aja's early assault which made her bleed, and after one particularly vicious shot from Aja she deadpanned, "That certainly won't help you think clearly." Even though Aja brought her trash can to the ring, she didn't use it on Bison, at least not that I saw. Who says monsters can't feel pity? G. Badger
Not to be outdone by little girls, Aja and Bison beat the living shit out of each other. It's not so much a wrestling match as an assault! Oh wow, that was good! In fact this is one of the earliest matches that I've seen where we have the prime era Aja Kong. She has shed the punker image and is now just full on brutal woman-beast. And if anyone wants to take it and keep kicking ass its Bison. She is by far one of the toughest wrestlers I've ever seen. There's one time during the match when guest commentator Debbie Malenko goes, "Is she bleeding from the head or the mouth? I can't tell" Yeah, this match is badass. Great match
dawho5
I am with Pete in the sentiment that this is a welcome respite from the joshi need for highspots on top of highspots. I also agree that this was really disjointed and dragged a lot in spots. I liked it regardless and it is insane how hard these two tag partners go after each other. xlynwoodx
Kong just kicked her ass. Bison was all busted up and Kong's white pants were covered in blood by the end. One of the few times Bison was on the offensive, she hit Kong with a German Suplex and Kong's ass landed right on her face. Brutal match.
