sek69 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Funny thing about Steph, my wife was watching RAW on Monday (which usually doesn't happen) and when they were replaying the arrest angle her only comment was "wow, she works out too much. it looks like she has a buff dude's chest with boobs attached".
SomethingSavage Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I think Steph looks great these days. If she likes hitting the gym, then more power to her. But she doesn't strike me as anyone that's obsessive compulsive over it with any underlying body dysmorphia issues or anything. She looks healthy. It's girls like AJ and Brie that I'd be worried about. Depending on the day of the week, sometimes they seem about two spoonfuls short of being totally malnourished. I'm a bit of a gym rat myself, but the whole "starved to death" look just doesn't appeal to me. Never has. It's the equivalent of being a muscled up, jacked chick in my eyes. All the same. I don't want to count your ribs anymore than I want to count your reps. Of course, that's all strictly personal preference I guess. To each their own.
flyonthewall2983 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I asked this before, but nobody answered but I am really curious especially in light of all these firings. Is Droz still technically employed by them?
The Chief Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 AJ and Brie don't look starved to death. Some girls are small, doesn't mean they're on death's door.
sek69 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 AJ in particular seems like just a naturally tiny person, but she did seem to lose a lot of weight when she came back. Maybe it's just more noticeable on someone that small. I can't even imagine the pressure the women must be under in a company where they run angles treating you like a fat cow if you aren't sporting a six pack at all times.
Ryan Faulconer Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 What the heck was Stephanie wearing at WrestleMania? Did she feel she needed to "outskirt" Lana? Not many women her age (my age too) would think of wearing something like that. Kids in the first rows would have seen where babies come from if she had to lean over more than 45 degrees. Easy, easy... she looked great. She did look great. It wasn't meant as much of a dig. I just thought that was a skirt. She wore a shirt and tie and still managed to show cleavage. 1999-2000 Stephanie is my preference. She looked like the pretty girl at university who gets the best grades but also dates the best looking dude while running the student union and playing on one of the varsity teams. Her voice dropped lower and she buffed up with HHH. Couple that with the implants and I was getting Chyna flashbacks. Anyway...I thought my Shield comment would get the replies All of their finishers look worse than the wrestlers that they copy from. Ambrose's move doesn't even follow the laws of gravity. He's a great charismatic guy that they can use in any role. I always liked Rollins in the Age of the Fall too but he does make a better babyface. Reigns could be The Rock or he could be least of the Anoia family currently wrestling.
Tim Evans Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I asked this before, but nobody answered but I am really curious especially in light of all these firings. Is Droz still technically employed by them? No. I think he was finally released a couple years back. I remember people being pissed about it.
flyonthewall2983 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Understandably so, I'm sure. It must have not been too big a deal since he hasn't said anything since that I know of (otherwise I wouldn't ask).
rovert Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 Goodhelmet. Lars probably knows it already but Zayn wore a Rancid shirt on last night's NXT taping:
The Chief Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 Kind of wish guys could do shit like that on the main roster more often. It looks so cheesy and markish when guys wear their own shirts.
artDDP Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 Kind of wish guys could do shit like that on the main roster more often. It looks so cheesy and markish when guys wear their own shirts. Isn't it a WWE directive to help show off your merchandise?
Petey Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 Kind of wish guys could do shit like that on the main roster more often. It looks so cheesy and markish when guys wear their own shirts. Looked pretty good on this guy...
Guest Eduardo James Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 Not sure why you WOULDN'T want to wear your own merchandise. A lot of revenue the top guys get is from t-shirts and junk and it is a business. Advertise what makes you money. And honestly, a Rancid shirt? I thought Sami was out of high school?
Loss Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 I think it's good in most cases, but in some cases like Bo Dallas, it doesn't fit the gimmick and makes them look less like stars.
moazzam23 Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 I think it makes guys like Del Rio or Cesaro look less like stars but shouldn't a character like Bo always be wearing his merch, since he's clearly a parody of John Cena?
Loss Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 I mentioned this in a post before, but I think Bo should basically look like Tom Cruise in Magnolia, even wearing a headset mic.
The Chief Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 It does work for guys who have good merch and are larger than life like Austin or Hogan. But guys like Orton, Christian, Del Rio etc shouldn't. I guess I didnt't make my point clear, but it does add to somebody's appeal if you see them outside of the wrestling bubble. I like how Punk would wear shirts of bands he liked. It makes them feel more like real people, does that make sense?
cm funk Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 I don't like everybody always wearing their merch, but it's part of the business and has been for a long time now, so I guess I accept it. It would be less of a problem if 95% of the shirts didn't suck. When they turned Sheamus into a Cena clone always wearing his merch helped kill him. He looked so much cooler when they'd show him backstage like he normally dresses, with a dress shirt and vest and a cap, looking like a proper Irish gent. That's one reason the Shield guys have stood out with their look. If Dean Ambrose showed up wearing his own t-shirt it would kill his character dead with me. No, he wears jeans and a cutoff and leather jackets, like a normal person. I liked when Batista would show up on TV wearing his own swag clothes week to week, and that helped get him over more. Ric Flair? There's a time and a place for hawking merch, but everybody always wearing their own merch makes the product look so cheesy I think the rule should be, if a guy is headed to the ring to do business or for a match, have them trunks and their t-shirt. But in other circumstances, backstage....interview segment where there is no intention of fighting at that moment.....be in street clothes. These guys that are seemingly in trunks and merch 24/7 come off as ridiculous caricatures
SomethingSavage Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 Okay. Of course, you realize that if EVERYONE dressed casually like ordinary people, then the guys you just rattled off - Flair, Batista, Ambrose, etc. - wouldn't stand out the way they do, right? It's a double-edged sword. It's fitting for guys like Cena and Orton. They're "brands" at this point. Sheamus has been doing it for long enough now that it doesn't seem out of place to me. My perception of Christian isn't really helped or hurt by it. Don't see it making much of a difference. Del Rio is definitely a guy I could see making a case for though. He should have been presented as "suited and booted" at all times & nothing else. Having him show up in Orton mode - his undies & merch shirt - just doesn't fit.
artDDP Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 I mentioned this in a post before, but I think Bo should basically look like Tom Cruise in Magnolia, even wearing a headset mic. Tom Cruise had Shawn Michaels' hairstyle in that movie.
southofheavy Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 And honestly, a Rancid shirt? I thought Sami was out of high school? Hey, now. "...And Out Come the Wolves" kicks just as much ass now as it did when I was in high school.
hammerva Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 watching the NBC Special tonight. I figure I should be mildly upset that there wasn't one reference to Daniel Bryan winning the belt on the show but it is only an hour long and a guy out for 3 or 4 months just isn't going to take out Cena vs Wyatt. Hopefully he gets back in the ring or that whole thing might be a distant memory On 2nd viewing of Brock vs Taker, this is a really bad match. Taker looks awful even before the match begins so it is no surprise that he almost dropped dead after the match. Thank god for Heyman Oh and not a single mention of the Network I believe. Way to advertise your bread and butter

sek69 Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 So has it ever been determined how much of the match was bad due to Taker being concussed rather than just old and broken down?
goc Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 In what way is that supposed to be determined?
