C.S.
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/01/08/nfl-2013-tv-recap-205-million-fans-tuned-in-34-of-35-most-watched-shows-this-fall/227726/ The NFL's kind of a big deal. Like funkdoc said, everyone watches football. If we drew a Venn diagram of US TV viewship, it's basically one circle saying "NFL fans" with everyone else within it. Yeah, but other Thursday night shows (Big Bang? Whatever's on that day) will continue to survive and thrive. Football may be a big deal, but there's still an audience outside of it or in addition to it. And not everyone watches football. It bores the shit out of me. But I get the point: a lot of people watch it. Fair enough. But the rest of the TV landscape manages somehow.
Steenalized
I think wrestling's appeal to the "geeky hipster" type is still a tiny, tiny minority. Hipsters themselves are a tiny, tiny minority even in major cities (well, maybe not in Austin). I live in a pretty hipster heavy neighborhood in Chicago, an even heavier one last year. I see guys wearing random wrestling shirts, but when I go to actual shows, the amount of 'hipsters' I see is still just a little fraction.
Matt D
I think we can combine them with nostalgic geeks who cheer for Daniel Bryan but don't watch football?

cm funk
I think the Thursday move will be negligible ratings wise. More people are at home watching TV on Thursdays, so despite going against the NFL on CBS, it should even out The Thursday night games are rarely "must see" anyway. SNF gets all the best prime time games now, and the majority of good games are on Sundays. MNF and TNF have marquee value, but they aren't "can't miss" weekly games. SD is total miss for me, I never watch the show, but it has it's loyal audience
cm funk
also, on the football v wrestling talk, I skip watching wrestling 10 out of 10 times if there's a game I want to see. In the fall/winter I rarely watch RAW live, unless there's just a terrible game on MNF that I have no interest in
goc
It's worth getting off Friday to deal with 2 months of football. Easily. They already have to deal with MNF and it's not like it totally cannibalizes their audience so there isn't that much to worry about.

I don't DVR Raw either so unless the MNF game is a blowout, I generally don't watch the show from September-December. I haven't watched Smackdown in well over a decade so the move to Thursday doesn't affect me one way or the other.
Eduardo
This is the Thursday Night Football schedule -- http://www.nfl.com/tnf Other than the Jaguars-Titans, and Bills-Dolphins, I am probably watch all of these.
tim
So Cena's promo tonight was really, really awful. Exactly the same sort of promo that he spits out every time he loses. Basically begging us to stop thinking that what happened at Summerslam was anything special or significant at all.
DMJ
Yeah, definitely a let down. I wasn't expecting a heel turn or anything groundbreaking, but as someone who thinks "serious Cena" can be pretty good, that promo was just not special at all. Not only that, but it seemed a little quick considering Cena's return to RAW was kind of the big selling point for tuning in this week. Reminded me of the old joke about the guy who complains, "The soup was lousy and there wasn't enough of it." I also really question the idea to have Cena wrestle this week - I understand he's the top draw and all that, but man, that beating at SummerSlam should've kept him out of action for more than 8 days. Steenalized
Dust Brothers heel turn tonight after a count out win. Goldust has the chops for it, hopefully he'll teach Cody.
goc
I am sure some people are going to hate on the idea of Goldust being a heel now, but I am interested to see where they take the team as heels. They should really get more bizarre and do some "mind games" with the Usos.
Shining Wiz
This Bella angle is the best thing I've seen on Raw in ages. I didn't think they had it in them, but they hit a home run. That was great.
hammerva
Really wishing that your mom had a miscarriage with her. Talk about excessive and kind of confusing given that she was in the womb as well. Although I will say if I am supposed to like Brie in this angle they are doing a horrible job. Yeah Nikki is an awful person but Brie is acting like a sniffling little girl.
goc
That was a really stupid segment. If Brie Bella died in the womb then how could Nikki be famous for being a moderately attractive woman with a twin sister?
Steenalized
Brutal segment, but at like Nikki harped on the point of getting humiliated on TV for weeks while Brie did nothing.

At the least, she would have had a nice collection of toy ponies.
...TG
So there is a pile of cinder blocks at ringside for the second week in a row? Have they always been there? I can't recall them being used before, so I don't think so. I'm legitimately baffled by this. Please help.

goc
Kane obviously Directed a stage hand to put them there. EDIT: Titus is the most wasted talent in all of wrestling.
The Chief
Titus has way too much presence to be put into situations like this. I've heard he's improved, but DAMN his offense looks crisp now.

hammerva
Well that made Bray Wyatt look like shit so far. I understand the reason why they are doing it for Cena and it is good but has to be about 10 guys better to get squashed then him
Matt D
Even if you're putting Cena over at the PPV, I don't get why he's even able to walk right now. Aw, come on, don't have Luke Harper tap.
