With Batista turning 45 in January (and it has been said for many years that may actually be a worked age as he's thought to be a few years older), if he wins the WWE title at WM he'd be the oldest person to win the title other than Vince in 99 and Hogan in 02 unless I'm forgetting someone.

On Twitter Meltz said he was just predicting and speculating that Batista would win the Rumble and challenge Orton. It wasn't a definite report. I still think that has a more than decent shot of happening

well technically he called it a discussion

He specifically said it wasn't a prediction. My impression was the exact opposite of yours, that he was saying "I wasn't making predictions, I was discussing what I know is planned." Especially when Mike Johnson reported the same story yesterday.

Well fuck. This keeps getting more depressing

WWE don't have a set rule where they have to throw out hints towards their Mania main event. Sometimes they do it, other times they don't.

It's John Cena and the Undrtaker. They'd have done it. They're not going to put that on a card that already features Brock, Batista, Hogan, and possibly HBK. They'll save it for when they need it more.

Had the pleasure of going to a really nice house show in Chicago last night. Highlight of the night was easily a six-man tornado tag between Uso's/D Bry and The Wyatt's. Escape was the only victory method, which made for an interesting dynamic with escapees helping their team while also putting them at a one man disadvantage. Can't recall seeing such a match type in the past, was a refreshing surprise for a house show.

Everyone needs to watch the Shield vs Cena, Henry and Langston singles match challenge on Smackdown tonight. Well crafted piece of TV and Rollins's break out match as a singles wrestler.

I was going to post about this earlier. I caught some of Rollins vs Cena and it was terrific. If you've been waiting for Rollins to break out, this is your match. Zigger who should be booked stronger and better vs Orton I also caught part of and that was great too. They're trying to build Ziggler up again some.

I can see Ziggler doing extremely well in NJPW.

Woo, yeah. Regal/Cesaro was some gooood stuff.

I got a little worried that the end was going to turn into "I love you. I'm sorry.", but luckily it didn't.

I love that Regal has had all these matches based on fairly subtle things like limbwork and working holds and the NXT crowd goes nuts for it.

That SmackDown sure had a lot of pro wrestling on it. I joined in just as Ziggler/Orton was starting and from then on there was more wrestling than a few weeks of 1999 WWE television.

The Shield's series of matches was almost perfect TV wrestling. I hate those commercial break ques whenever someone leaves the ring. Sometimes it comes ten seconds into the match which isn't too annoying. The breaks just when the action really kicks in are really the most frustrating part of enjoying TV wrestling.

I can't really see much of a difference between 2006-2010 Seth Rollins/Tyler Black and his present day version. I enjoyed ROH Tyler Black so that isn't meant as an insult in any way. The matches are shorter and to the point in WWE/NXT. He had a fair number of shorter compacted matches scattered throughout his ROH days. They were usually on the unappreciated shows that weren't put over as must see in the WON or by Gabe's shilling.

The series actually reminded me of the ROH version from the Man Up show. The WWE version had better selling. The ROH version tried to involve all the participants during each match as strategists and/or cheerleaders. I'm being vague with the comparison for fear of a major shitstorm of guffaws should I namedrop The No Remorse Corps vs. Resilience in a thread discussing an excellent year of WWE programming.

I think that Tyler Black/Seth Rollins's improvement has been overstated. First of all, he is working with better workers in the WWE in terms of structure and knowing how to hit different notes in a match. Second of all, he is working with road agents to help him layout matches. That said, I feel he has only improved as much as a guy making a transition from RoH's carte blanche style to WWE's strict structural style would, in a minimal sense. I still see the sloppy Tyler Black emerge in his WWE matches at points but it has gradually vanished. I am more impressed with what Leakee has been able to do as Roman Reigns because even the RoH style offers a bare bones idea of how to be a good wrestler. Leakee has none of that prior training.
