cheapshot
I think you're right, as he's been with the company so long now anyway, and if he was going to "make it" I am 99% it would of happened by now anyway. Unfortunately I think his inability to politic correctly has hurt him far more than his performances good, bad or indifferent in the ring.
Loss
His name is also horribly douchey, and his gimmick is too one dimensional.
Matt D
I'm not saying every guy in the WWE who listens to what management wants gets ahead. I get the feeling that Yoshi Tatsu follows those directions, for instance. Â One sure way of NOT getting ahead, however, is to completely disregard them. I don't think Chris Hero got let go because he wasn't in shape. I think he got let go because he refused to listen to them when they told him to get in shape. It's close to the same thing but not quite. Â Neither here nor there, but does anyone know how the CM Punk trademark works? Could WWE even bring in Corey Graves as a fake CM Punk with the gimmick/music/etc? if they wanted to (and Vince probably doesn't since according to Dave he wants his #2 merch seller back if possible). If they can do it, I still think they should bring him in as the Authority's Corporate Rebel at the Chicago Raw and then feed him to Bryan or someone. The heat that would get there would be colossal. Loss
This isn't just a problem for Dolph, but his motivation has never been fully defined. It's funny saying that because I think they've made more of an attempt to define his motive than they have for most. Honestly, I think you could say that for a lot of WWE personalities. Like The Wyatts are a redneck cult obviously, but their motivations for being a redneck cult within WWE are unclear. So they're a cult; why are they there? The Shield got off to a good start explaining that they were just about making sure justice was served, but they haven't touched on that in over a year, have they? Matt D
And the way they do define Dolph is tricky. He wants to be the showoff and have the best "performance" of the night, which is kind of hard to fit into the traditional narrative. Is he like a ballhog in the NBA who wants to win, sure, but wants to score as many points as possible and get on sportscenter a lot in the process? It comes off too much as him wanting to have the best fake match of the night. Â I do think his act with Big E and AJ was pretty well framed but they admittedly botched that about as much as humanly possible.
Loss
And that sort of gimmick really requires tons of booking protection. Shawn Michaels was The Showstopper and his motivation was to be the center of attention and steal the show. He also wrestled his matches that way by taking big chances. I would argue that he could have presented himself as more flawed by letting his desire for attention be his downfall in some key situations, but they never really explored that. Even Dolph on this current losing streak could make it interesting by having some character flaw that he has to learn to overcome if he ever wants to reach his potential. Still, Shawn was also someone who won almost all the time.
Badlittlekitten
I'm sure I read here or somewhere that there are plans to put Dolph in a disgruntled tag team with the Miz. I actually wouldn't mind seeing that.
Matt D
Around the time they were putting Flair with Miz, I was hoping he'd turn on him and go with Dolph as sort of a new Nature Boy thing.
Russellmania
they really dropped the ball with Dolph months ago IMO. They should have kept Dolph with Big E and AJ all this time doing the HBK/Diesel routine. Give Dolph a long IC title reign and let him build heat bouncing around and cheating to keep the title. Then they could have had Big E turn on him and roll with the Dolph sympathy face push for a while. It felt like they had a lot of possibilities as a group and they abandoned it before it went anywhere.
Matt D
Was there any talk that Dolph and AJ split due to Punk?

Jmare007
I have a feeling that 5 years from now, someone is gonna ask "what was the plan that time they made Miz bytch on commentary? I remember him interrupting filler matches on RAW for 5 weeks or so and then having a very short lived run tagging with Ziggler. But then it suddenly stopped. Hell, Miz was fired 3 months later. Did he fucked up or pissed someone off?And the answer will be "nah, he just sucked".

Makes more sense now knowing that Del Rio physically provoked him and caused a response (although I still think Batists went a bit overboard, save that aggression for the PPV). Matt D
I actually really hope we get a Christian/Someone tag run this year. His skill at match layout and ability to switch up his face offense would make him just about perfect for a bunch of 2014 style wwe tag matches. Jmare007
Some camera or sound guy is getting fired tonight. You could hear Cena and Orton calling spots all match long, this was even worse than some CM Punk matches, just blatant stuf.. At some point they were on the tope rope and you could actually see them talking to each other
The Chief
So do we now have the pleasure of looking forward to commentators ragging on how hideously ugly and deformed Christian is every time he's on screen? The Chief
It's most likely JBL being fed lines by Vince. I've learned to tune it out but it still annoys me that this kind of counterproductive crap makes it on screen just to entertain one guy backstage. Â And yeah Christian ain't young Elvis, but I wouldn't consider him a freak. He's just a regular dude.
sek69
It's really amazing how much more tolerable Sheamus has been since he's back, I guess that's what happens when you don't have him be Irish Cena like he was before.
