JRH
Whatever happened to Season 2 of Camp WWE? Supposedly Ultimate Warrior did some voiceover stuff before he passed away. I get the feeling the show was quietly cancelled. Either someone got upset over the content or (more likely) it wasnt recieving enough views. First five episodes and then nothing. Did WWE also quietly cancel it?
flyonthewall2983
Anyone watch Story Time yet? It's not bad, actually. Four "road" stories told by the wrestlers themselves, narrated by Gene Okerlund, and given the animation treatment. All in all, it's only 11 minutes long - the perfect length for a "bedtime story," if you ask me. I wonder if they got the idea for that show from this https://youtu.be/2PHGmIAv4Dc
C.S.
Anyone catch The Authentic Untold Story of ECW? There was actually new information - new to me, at least. I thought it was a fun, breezy show that went by quickly. It really could have gone another hour or two, and I wish it had. The only jarring point was Corey Graves interrupting a great conversation to ask everyone to describe ECW in one or two words. I guess he realized they were running out of time and had to wrap the show up. Graves did a great job otherwise though. It got very emotional in the last couple of minutes, especially with Paul E. and Tommy Dreamer. But Paul mentioning Brock Lesnar at the very end sucked and seemed out of place. That made it obvious that this was filmed before Survivor Series (which it was). Makes me wonder if they didn't know the final booking at that point. I wonder if they got the idea for [WWE Story Time] from this Normally I'd scoff at the notion of anyone from WWE watching anything on PBS, but the format does seem too similar to be coincidental. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw the previews on youtube via WWE's channel and it got my interest was really looking forward to it. I felt 48 minutes was far too short, at least 1 hour should have been the runtime but yeah I would have been happy had it gotten 2 hours, I loved hearing the stories about Taz designing the shirts and Bubba doing Business deals. I felt they should have gotten Raven on the panel too. I didnt like the Brock Lesnar mention, it felt out of place which I felt the same way when they did ECW Exposed as well. sek69
They do have some extra post-airing stuff on the 1998 RAWs. For instance I watched the episode with the Austin/Undertaker vs Kane/Mankind Hell in a Cell match and there was actually a finish after RAW went off the air, I think it was Austin pinning Foley. Kind of like showing the finish to the Harts-Strike Force match from the Hogan-Andre Main Event show that didn't air previously. Those kind of things are pretty cool to see even if they don't really matter all that much to the average fan watching. The preshows for the PPVs would be a nice addition at some point in time, but still a lot more TV stuff I'd prioritize before that. Yeah I love watching the post show Raw bits from 1998 and I know they did a load for 1999 as well but did they do any other years? I cant recall them doing any Smackdown related segments. I bought the Raw DVd that had similar bits like Hogan posing with Cena & Batista but what I always found odd with this is why they didnt show the match that took place before the posedown which I believe was Hogan/Batista/Cena vs HBK/HHH/JBL. I watched the Ric Flair retirement Raw and they had the post-show portion which had Taker and then Vince himself coming out to pay their respects. Some interesting stuff in there, although they obviously could have gone for hours. Great Heyman promo at the end.
BrianB
What's Taz talking about with headlining Barely Legal vs. Sabu? The actual headliners were the #1 contenders match between Richards, Sandman and Funk, then Funk got the title shot immediately and beat Raven. Ricky Jackson
Sabu vs Taz was kinda the "real" main event, similar to a Hogan vs Rock situation. They had been building that match for well over a year
sek69
One thing that struck me about that ECW doc, well two actually. Bubba was spot on saying ECW was the Napster of wrestling. They changed the business then went away. Also it was something to see everyone on the panel still having such passion for ECW. I can't imagine anyone currently in the business having the same feelings for any company today.

Cox
The Young Bucks could for PWG as well. Just like the ROH crew of ten years ago like Joe, Danielson, Punk (when he doesn't completely hate the business), Cabana, Aries, Strong, etc probably feels the same way about that company. People tend to remember the places they made their break fondly.

Even people who would have, like AJ Styles, now have a sour taste in their mouths about that wreck of a company. I found it odd that The Dudleys kept referring to themselves as "the greatest tag team of all time." Maybe in ECW, but is there really a case to be made for them overall? clintthecrippler
I was hoping that since they were trotting out another ECW special that we would finally get the ECW Home Video library up on the Network but alas it appears not meant to be. Also, I don't think ANYONE believes that Disney - or a subsidiary of - or a sketchy nephew of anyone named Disney - was going to even sniff buying ECW. sek69
I don't doubt Paul talked to them, he probably knocked on every door possible to try to get funding, but I doubt it went as far up the chain of command as he claimed it did. C.S.
I can buy it. Keep in mind, Disney isn't just Mickey Mouse. They have many subsidiaries (and Paul did say he was negotiating with one of those). For example, in the '80s, Touchstone Pictures - a Disney company - released movies geared towards teens and adults.

Ricky Jackson
I don't mean heat wise, but perception wise going into the show
Johnny Sorrow
Like they said , the poster for the show was Sabin and Taz. After so many examples why are some people so OCD about a main event must be the last match or even a title match?

BECAUSE THE MAIN EVENT IS THE LAST MATCH AND I DON'T CARE HOW MANY EXAMPLES YOU CAN SHOW ME WHERE THAT'S NOT TRUE I WILL CONTINUE TO SAY THIS UNTIL I DIE BECAUSE I'M NOT NEARLY AS SMART AS I THINK I AM

Lee
Also, I don't think ANYONE believes that Disney - or a subsidiary of - or a sketchy nephew of anyone named Disney - was going to even sniff buying ECW. I think if we can believe that they couldn't get on pay-per-view because the people in charge paid little enough attention to not realise they weren't UFC, then it's not out of the realms of believablity that Disney, a company which happily allowed WCW to tape at their facilities, would at least consider the idea of getting into the wrestling business for themselves without looking specifically at the overall content of ECW, having presumably decided that they would be turned down by WCW and the WWF. Not saying I believe it outright, but not saying that I don't either.

That's correct, one half of the Motor City Machine Guns main evented the first ECW PPV. ;-)
C.S.
Taz vs. Sabu wasn't the last match on the card, but it was definitely the one promoted the most and used as the "draw." Whether or not you consider it the main event is a matter of semantics, but it was on all the advertising, posters, etc.
