flyonthewall2983
Got to admit I'm not as bowled over by these WrestleMania Rewind specials as everyone else seems to be here. Some of the inside stuff is cool, but is basically common knowledge to anyone as well-read as some of us are on that period of their history. Someone said it's like 30 For 30, I think it's more like one of those where the only talking head is Chuck Klosterman.
shoe
Something I thought would be cool for the network would be what MLB channel does and has 2 rivals discussing a big World Series moment . I saw Mitch Williams and Joe Carter discuss the game that lead to the home run. I think it would be fascinating to see say Dusty and Flair discuss Starcade 85. It would be like the Bret/Shawn Rivalries DVD. The key would be to have a Jim Ross type as host who would do their research or maybe Steve Austin . He seems to do the leg work for his show, and loves the history of wrestling.
JNLister
Just noticed the price rise to $11.99 story stems from a survey specifically sent to a Canadian user. Is it possible WWE was asking about charging twelve Canadian dollars at launch there? Straight exchange of $9.99 would be $11.10 so 12 would make sense with exhange costs and a buffer against rate swings.

Austin as a host would be perfect because all wrestlers seriously respect the man and most won't try to bullshit him too much (there's always exceptions like Flair who can't help themselves). Matt D
Roku is down here for SXSW and they are streaming the WWE network all day with guest Sargeant Slaughter.  That's pretty great. I want a live stream of them streaming live just to see what Slaughter has to say about everything.

Hell, they even have the "Greatest Games" show where they'll have guys talking about a game inning by inning. This is a fantastic idea. It's a little bit different than just hearing them over-dub the match with new commentary, but it would be fun to see them take a break from the match and talk about it and then go back to it. Great idea.
evilclown
There's nothing on the WWE Network I haven't seen that I actually want to watch.
goc
I expected to watch a lot of wrestling when the Network hit. I just didn't know it meant I'd free up a ton of hard drive space and end up watching a lot of Portland, Memphis and Puerto Rico. I've watched like 5 matches total on The Network. I still like it for the fact that I can go watch any PPV in good quality at any time, but I really wish they'd start putting up some Nitros or more TV episodes in general. Â I am kind of in a similar place. I have a few minutes this morning and while I want to watch countdown/wrestlemania rewind (or whatever) that i can do at work since I'll mainly be listening to it. I can't think of anything I'd rather watch than that Casas vs Panther match from January that got posted here a couple of days ago.
WingedEagle
Okay, now they are showing the Raw before WM 17...and it's rated TV-PG Help me out here. This, the aforementioned bash 92, etc - these are shown on the live stream as filler before the next scheduled program begins?
Loss
Watching some of this old stuff ... Not that I think the announcing today is anything good, but no wonder Vince felt it was time to move on from Jim Ross. The near constant screaming at the top of his lungs sounds awful and can get really annoying.
Loss
I also find it interesting that they aren't bleeping "wop" from the old WWF segments. Is it possibly a generational thing, where interns don't know that it's a racial slur because it's not used very often anymore?

Yesterday I saw Taka Michinoku vs. Brian Christopher from the last In Your House show, and the weird-ass segment with Jake and The Ultimate Warrior today. The Raw I mentioned is programming, but I'm not sure if it's the whole episode. I think it's 90 minutes without commercials except whatever ads they ran, so it could be the whole thing. Russellmania
any idea if they plan to add DVD releases to the network? for some reason I thought I read that they were going to have all dvd's on-demand at launch and that's obviously not true. Having all the PPV's is great, but there are a lot of WWE produced compilations of certain guys that include matches from TV, other promotions, etc. that I'd love to have on demand. peachchaos
The novelty wore off pretty quickly. Â Still, I would have paid $60 for WM. They basically have 5 months to convince me this is worth a damn.

Not that I think the announcing today is anything good, but no wonder Vince felt it was time to move on from Jim Ross. The near constant screaming at the top of his lungs sounds awful and can get really annoying. I thought about this quite a bit after watching some of Backlash 2002 and No Way Out 2001. Now I feel like the announcing back then was better, but is it really because Jim Ross was so much better, or is because he and Lawler weren't having to hype stuff like Twitter, Tout, the WWE App, the WWE Network etc all the time? Â The main thing that J.R. and King had is that they were a lot more fun when they were bickering with each other than when Cole & JBL or Cole & Lawler do it now. I was legit cracking up at how annoyed J.R. was getting at Lawler during the HHH/Austin match at No Way Out when Lawler kept blaming him for the bringing the sledgehammer that HHH pulled out from under the announce table. Eduardo
Anyone recently gone back and re-watch some of the JBL-Cole stuff from SD In 2006-2007? Â At the time, I remember that being one of the better periods of commentating for either RAW or SD. JBL was going all out in putting over Finlay, Regal, Jamie Noble, Kid Kash, Kendrick & London, etc.

Especially because JBL was a full on heel announcer. He'd also constantly throw out references like comparing L and K to the Simpson Brothers from World Class.
