Alan4L
So what I did was produce a list of just over 100 people who I would consider as potential top 100 candidates without thinking much about it and 16 of those were not nominated already so I figured I should make a whole bunch of nominations. Sorry about the super long post -Jeff Hardy: his microscope thread has more than enough in it: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/19656-jeff-hardy/ -Kyle O'Reilly: he has matches with threads on here but there seems to be nothing in those threads. Anyway most of his best work has been in PWG in the past 18 months or so, particularly vs Davey Richards at Is Your Body Ready and vs ACH at Battle of Los Angeles 2013, also his tag team work with Bobby Fish is fun, worth checking out is their match against Alex Shelley and KUSHIDA from the G-1 finals show this year. -Michael Elgin: again he has a bunch of matches with threads but no posts in them, don't see much point in providing links to those. -Lo Ki: microscope thread with plenty of reviews: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/29461-low-ki/ -Davey Richards: seen some hate for this guy on this board already, and I understand that he has matches that build up and up then finish on a total down note but he's a athlete and knows how to make himself stand out unlike guys like rodrick strong or eddie edwards Anyway can't find reviews on here, hoping these nominations will actually count without having to review loads of matches. -Akira Tozawa: Again loss has made a bunch of threads for his matches but no posts except for in this one: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/22183-dingo-vs-akira-tozawa-acw-guilty-by-association-011611/ -Takagi Shingo: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25909-cima-naruki-doi-shingo-takagi-vs-dragon-kid-genki-horiguchi-ryo-saito-dragon-gate-030605/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25953-bxb-hulk-cyber-kong-shingo-takagi-vs-cima-ryo-saito-susumu-yokosuka-dragon-gate-051007/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25980-masato-yoshino-naruki-doi-vs-dragon-kid-shingo-takagi-dragon-gate-082808/ -Masaaki Mochizuki: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25005-masato-yoshino-vs-maasaki-mochizuki-dragon-gate-011614/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25817-darkness-dragon-genki-horiguchi-magnum-tokyo-vs-dragon-kid-ryo-saito-masaaki-mochizuki-vs-cima-taru-don-fuji-toryumon-071402/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/27085-minoru-tanaka-vs-masaaki-mochizuki-battlarts-052798/ -Christopher Daniels: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/21806-lax-vs-christopher-daniels-aj-styles-tna-no-surrender-092406/ -Katzuhori Shibata: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25902-toshiaki-kawada-vs-katsuyori-shibata-njpw-chrono-stream-110304/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25922-takeshi-morishima-mohammed-yone-vs-kenta-katsuyori-shibata-noah-3rd-great-voyage-110505/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25938-kenta-katsuyori-shibata-vs-akira-taue-go-shiozaki-noah-shiny-navigation-090906/ -Yuji Nagata: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25863-kenta-kobashi-vs-yuji-nagata-noah-navigation-over-the-date-line-091203/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25962-hiroshi-tanahashi-vs-yuji-nagata-njpw-explosion-100807/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25946-yuji-nagata-vs-minoru-suzuki-njpw-wrestle-kingdom-010407/ -Kazuchika Okada: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25372-hiroshi-tanahashi-vs-kazuchika-okada-njpw-wrestle-kingdom-vii-010413/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25305-kazuchika-okada-vs-hirooki-goto-njpw-021114/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25972-kazuchika-okada-vs-kota-ibushi-njpw-strong-style-42nd-anniversary-show-030614 -Kota Ibushi: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25972-kazuchika-okada-vs-kota-ibushi-njpw-strong-style-42nd-anniversary-show-030614/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/21848-kenta-taiji-ishimori-vs-kota-ibushi-naomichi-marufuji-noah-summer-navigation-071507/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25963-taka-michinoku-dick-togo-vs-kota-ibushi-madoka-k-dojo-overthrow-120107/ -Prince Devitt: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/24984-kota-ibushi-vs-prince-devitt-njpw-wrestle-kingdom-viii-010414/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25995-alex-shelley-chris-sabin-vs-prince-devitt-ryusuke-taguchi-njpw-circuit-070509/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25370-prince-devitt-vs-low-ki-vs-ryusuke-taguchi-njpw-wrestle-kingdom-vii-010413/ this match doesn't have Ryusuke Taguchi in it but Kota Ibushi, just saying -Seth Rollins: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25356-the-shield-vs-wyatt-family-wwe-monday-night-raw-030314/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25550-john-cena-vs-seth-rollins-wwe-smackdown-122713/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25548-roman-reigns-seth-rollins-vs-daniel-bryan-kane-wwe-monday-night-raw-052713/ Natsuki*Taiyo: There's no real full match reviews for her on here, which I expected because who watches joshi from after the early 00's. Did find this in a joshi for people who don't watch joshi thread Natsuki Taiyo vs Kyoko Kimura - Good fast paced an high flying match https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS4lcef__IU looking at these nominations and seeing the location of the poster, I can forgive you all for thinking this is my sister. But alas it is not. My sister thinks wrestling is the world's dumbest thing. Can't say I blame her though - she had to deal with a teenage brother during the attitude era and that's not something I'd wish on anyone! But hooray for nominations that I need to sink my advocacy teeth into. I WILL MAKE YOU ALL LOVE MOCHIZUKI LIKE I DO!!!!!
elliott
I wanted to nominate El Faraon. I suspect he'll be one of the many "wish we had more" guys, but he did make the smarkschoice poll above guys like Buzz Sawyer, Kerry von Erich, Ron Garvin and Buddy Rose so I figured I would toss his name out and maybe see some unheralded matches in the meantime. I found some match reviews by Loss, Exposer and Parv on the board... Pirata Morgan vs El Faraon 11/16/90 Loss said: "20th Century Fox intro! Awesome! Usually, the matches with great mat work are 90% mat-based. The great high flying matches are mostly dives. The great brawls are mostly bloody brawling. Jif moms be warned, as this is the match for the lucha libre fan who hates to choose, and there is plenty of all three. I love how they work the matwork into the brawling context and it fits in quite well. Pirata is about as bloody as you'll ever see a wrestler, and then he loses his hair to boot. What a match! I wish we could have seen more of these two in 1990, but it is what it is. At least the match we got is a classic." Atlantis vs El Faraon 3/22/85 Exposer said: "This was damn good. This match had some nice variables to it. On one hand it was a match between an underdog and the veteran. Technically, it was a match built around body part work and selling which I love. I’m not a big fan of Atlantis’s full body selling of moves. I think one squirm is enough instead of thirty eight. He got better at it as the match went along though. The first fall is the traditional mat based opening fall of a title match. There’s a really nice flow to it and the transitions are pretty seamless. The ending of it was great with Faraon focusing on the neck. The second fall was really good also. This is in reverse with Atlantis working on Faraon’s arm and shoulder. Faraon was awesome at selling his right arm and his forearm clotheslines were tremendous. That submission to end the fall was great and Faraon’s selling and facial expressions during it were great. The third fall lets loose some and we get some great dives from Atlantis. I loved that Faraon kept going after Atlantis’s neck. His submission sitting down on his neck looked painful. The finish is awesome. Faraon thinks he’s won by count-out after seemingly riding the storm of Atlantis’s last comeback. And then bam, he gets hit with the victory roll from behind for the pin. Faraon is livid post-match but Atlantis isn’t shedding a tear. Great match with an excellent build. This is over four stars. I’d call it an A-. Great stuff. La Fiera, El Faraón y El Egipico vs. MS-1, Satanico y Pirata Morgan (3/29/85) - This started out just there for me. It got better and better as the match went on. The beating down on Fauron in the first fall was becoming boring a little bit but the action picked up in the second. I loved Fauron kicking at Satanico when he had his arms locked. Egipcio-Morgan was tremendous. I loved the visual of Morgan flying across the floor just barely on screen. It was a total "what the fuck" moment. The best part of this was Egipcio throwing Morgan THROUGH the Corona apron and then beating him with pieces of it. La Fiera was just there in this and didn't seem to add anything at all which is disappointing. He just wandered around and didn't do much at all. The punching exchanges, postings, and brawling in the third fall was great. Morgan's posting was particularly brutal. That back and forth punching exchange in the center of the ring between Egipcio-Morgan was off the charts. The closing minutes were fun and Fiera fucks up horribly on a dive and nearly spikes himself on his head. Fauron's dive was awesome as hell and he collided big time with MS-I. The finish was good too. I liked this a good bit. It was hurt by a middling start but the last five to eight minutes were tremendous. I don't know where this would rank right now. I will probably give this just short of four stars. It could have been better in my opinion." El Faraon, Herodes, Mocho Cota vs Lizmark, Ringo Mendoza and Tony Salazar 2/24/84 Parv said: "Oh awesome awesome awesome. Faraon and Cota teaming up! YES! And with the Mexican Hercules! Actually he looks more like a Mexican Harley Race here.First fall seemed super quick. This is a great heel beatdown here. Herodes looks great nailing the shots in. Tony Salazar is being totally killed here. Awesome stuff. And that's a DQ? lol, ok. Amazing visual of Salazar dangling over the apron as the heels just dickingly still kick him.Oh man, I fucking love this heel team. I fucking LOVE them.Awesome knee lift by Faraon. Great little cocky sneaky dipship deadleg by Cota on Lizmark. And now they go back to bullying poor Salazar. Ha ha ha ha. This is so great.Babyfaces coming back now and the crowd is pumped. TREMENDOUS bump into the turnbuckle by Herodes. Chaos breaking out now. Bodies and blood everywhere now. Oh my good, what an awesome blatant kick to the balls by Salazar for the payback, justice is done.Ah fuck it, I had so much fun watching this. I'm probably way overrating it, but I don't care, this was great.AWhat an awesome run of matches here.Cota is a new JvK hero. Faraon is just great as well." Dylan Waco
Stan Lane - Nomination via 80's set Tony Anthony - v. Tim Horner from SMW tv Horner does his trademark chain wrestling, to floatover arm drag spot. Anthony really takes a great Japanese arm drag. Anthony flees to the floor after a dropkick and Ron Wright massages his face! Horner does the roll back flip off the back body drop attempt and goes to a side headlock. DWB thinks he avoids a corner charge and ends up taking a face planting bump off of Horner's trademark right jab. Horner gets caught coming in and takes a nice face planting bump of his own getting good height in the process. Anthony goes to cocky heel tactics dropping dismissive knee drops and just standing on Horner's guts like a total piece of shit. Nice bulldog from DWB. Really sweet finish as Horner goes for a backslide but Anthony pulls him over and Horner immediately locks in a small package for the pin. Curtis was a little late on the cover and I wish this had gone about five minutes longer, but for a seven minute tv match this was pretty great. Ron Wright falling out of his wheelchair in shock was the icing on the cake. v. Tracy Smothers Chain Match This was really a brilliant gimmick match. I could see how people would argue that it went on a hair too long, but honestly the crowd stayed with them to the point where that feels like a total bullshit complaint. This had literally everything you would want from a chain match and then some. They bleed buckets, they do some really cute spots with the chain leading to big bumps, the tension of the four corners spots is great, the use of the chain as a weapon gives some great visuals, et. Loved the way DWB sold the chokejobs early as you could watch all the color pouring out of his face with the chain around his neck. Smothers was also great selling for DWB and his hopespots were really neat, using the chain as leverage, busting out a really believable and well timed monkey flip, and then the fucking awesome skin the cat out of the hanging comeback spot. The floatover finish was really well done too and got a great pop from the crowd. Really great match. Arguably the best SMW match of all time. Post match angle with DWB attacking him backstage was great too. w/Smothers v. The Gangstas Street Fight No chance of this sucking as battle of underclass stereotypes is pretty much guaranteed to work on some level and really you are not going to find better example of Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan study subjects v. Senator James Webb study subjects than this. Racist rednecks v. black nationalist from the Ghetto - let's get er done. Thugz come out pissed off after a baiting New Jack promo and immediately get to it, with Tracy hitting dive shots to the floor with trashcans, leaping Confederate Flage shots, tossing New Jack into the tenth row, et. New Jack comes back by throwing an insane looking over hand that sends Tracy flying, then hurls him into a stack of chairs and just starts chucking shit at him. Jack tries to hit Tracy with a cinderblock but DWB blocks it at the last second. New Jack hits an insane leaping clothesline onto DWB on the floor. During all of this D-Lo is just tossing shit around. Tracy and Jack have color now and Smothers is really selling his ass off. Great punch exchange on the floor that starts with DWB and New Jack and escalates to all five guys. D-Lo gets tossed into the tenth row by Smothers. Mustapha tries to run away and Smothers darts after him and leaps on him sending him flying off camera. Back in the ring and there is more solid brawling and then Smothers gets dumped to the floor. D-Lo hurls a trashcan at head and then New Jack absolutely kills him with a leaping piledriver through a table. Holy fuck what a spot. Being economical men with their weaponry, D-Lo and Jack try and use the remnants of the table as a battering ram, but Tracy reverses and throws them both into it as DWB makes his comeback in the ring. D-Lo ends up accidentally frogsplashing Mustapha and Anthony pins him. Brawl continues post-match with New Jack and Smothers throwing each other into the crowd while men run over to protect their children from getting caught up in a race riot. They end up brawling onto a stage where D-Lo gets back body dropped. Thugz finally chase Gangstas to the back and Curtis raises their hands on the stage, while fans hold up the Stars N Bars. This is pro wrestling as hate crime which is pretty much the way it's supposed to be. Really a tremendous match, easily the best Gangstas match I've ever seen, and one of the best SMW matches I've ever seen as well.

Dylan Waco
Nominating James Storm with these three reviews v. Chris Harris Sacrifice 2007 (Texas Death Match) Legitimately great match that a lot of people rate as the best in TNA history. I'm not sure I'm in line with that, but for bloodbath brawls from the last fifteen years or so I can think of maybe two or three matches I'd rate above this and those were all in Mexico. What I really enjoyed about this is that it mattered to incorporate the best elements of the more modern stunt show/prop heavy brawls with the more traditional, "punch a motherfucker in the mouth" fights of old. The big spots in this were all pretty great, including some really crazy spots that got the match over as a true blood feud. Some might cringe at the chairshot against the post spot, but it looked to me like Harris was well protected and it was really put over as an epic spot. All the table spots were smart, made sense and added to the match, and the blade job of Storm was infuckingsane. Even little stuff like Storm running over with a forearm to cut Harris down after he beat a ten count, or Harris dropping the glass out of his hand after the kill shot with the bottle were really well done moments. I also have to give credit to Tenay who did a good job getting over little points, like the both guys refusing to even take a fall on the other guys finish. Probably the best singles match of either guys career, but this would be the best singles match of a lot of guys career. w/Chris Harris v. The Naturals Impact 4/29 Fun, wild match, with Chris Candido working a quasi-Ron Wright gimmick seconding The Naturals. The commercials hurt this a bit because we didn't get to see all of the transitions or the meat of the match, but the work was so good that I still feel comfortable calling this very good at worst. AMW are wildly underrated in general, but I was amazed at how good they worked here as faces. You could argue that The Naturals wild bumping really carried this match, but AMW had lots of good offense, and I thought when AMW was on the defensive they were really strong selling for the chickenshits. I actually marked out for the headscissors nearfall because it seems so out of character from what I expect of guys like Storm or Harris. The finish was probably a bit overbooked, but it's TNA and that kind of comes with the territory. w/Chris Harris . AJ Styles/Chris Daniels Slammiversary 2006 There was a weird bit in here with a Gail Kim run-in that was thwarted by an "Amazonian" woman who's name I forget. But up until that moment and even after that this was a great match. I had remembered really liking TNA tag wrestling from 05-07, but I can honestly say I wasn't expecting a match this good when I put this on. This was AMW as the heels, and the first portion of this was really awesome with them doing almost PG-13ish miscommunication spots, with AJ in particular being awesome flying around and making them look like assholes. Actually AJ was just great in this period, selling his ass off on the defensive, explosive as all hell off the hot tag, and timing things perfectly. I loved the eye of the storm teaser and hope spot, and also really liked Storm getting splatted off the top to the floor. To his credit Daniels was solid in this too, especially in the second half of the bout. Anyway, this was really good shit, with a fun combo finish after some good false finishes. I'd recommend this to anyone.
