I agree that in this game world, injuries, retirements, and deaths should be determined by random rolls. This world deviates from the real one in July of 1983 meaning that anything that happens up until that point is the same as in real life, but anything after should be completely up in the air.

Yea they are on complete opposite sides of this. I'll let someone else handle mediation this time.

I already handled the Battle of Ohio.

I would accept removing guys who are about to die (Grand Wizard, David von Erich, anyone else I'm forgotting?) from the game world and giving dedhemingway another pick.

I don't accept drafting Grand Wizard knowing for 100% sure that he dies on October 12th 1983. It's retarded.

I'm pretty particular about little things like this, they can make or break things for me. Will wait for final say, but I probably feel strongly enough that I would hand WWF over to someone else if the Death rule stands.

I remember I was a year into a career on Football Manager once and found out that my German players weren't going to internationals properly because I'd forgotten to fix the "fake" German national team thing that is in there for copywright reasons. Couldn't play on because something in the game world was off.

If everyone else feels strongly the other way, it's cool with me. But I don't think I can play in a setting where we already know the death dates of everyone involved. Makes no sense to me as a gamer or as someone who has played RPGs and things like that. Breaks immersion / realism idea and it's enough that I'd leave it.

I would suggest you look at things not just as a game, but also as a shared storytelling/writing device, not as a competition so much as just an ability to create and enjoy yourself with like-minded individuals. In that regard, while somewhat morbid, it'd be amusing to see how people deal with death and injuries and what not (there's so much distance here and we've looked at fantasy booking scenarios and what ifs and what not for so long...). The knowledge can be built into a plus and the way that people deal with it relative to how it was dealt with real life could be interesting. It doesn't need to be about "winning" so much as creating a fun, crazy shared experience, no? I think there's plenty of room for competitiveness in there too.

I don't like the idea of planning eight months towards someone's death which a promotor couldn't possibly have known about. It's completely game altering to have that information.

It's fine I'll carry on, but this aspect of the game is something I've gone on record to oppose.

I think it was suggested at one time that if we went with injuries and death being random, that a person who had a career ending injury or died in real life would have a greater chance of it happening to them after the real life date.

Is this really a "game?" Don't you need winners and losers for a game? There's no way to judge who wins and loses in this thing.

I could care less how deaths are handled, but if I had to pick a side, I'd say leave the near-death guys in the pool. It might make things more interesting to see if the promoters kill them off and work around the death or keep them breathing and play out a what-if scenario.

I don't know if it is a "game", or a "simulation" or a "shared creative experience" or whatever you call it, knowing advance information such as a death and planning towards it is strange and unlike anything I've seen in other things like this.

But it is what it is, let's move on.

I'm sorry it upset you when I told you about my plans that I couldn't do that included having David Von Erich lose a "Loser must leave Texas" match to Tully ending their long feud right before his February tour.

How about delaying deaths 1 year from actual occurrence or making managers exempt from death? Is this whole thing just about keeping the Grand Wizard alive?

No.

I didn't want people to not understand what it's about so I posted the exact reason just above your post.
