Guys hanging round in tag gear after split

Ricky Morton staying in his Rock'n'Roll Express gear after joining the York Foundation was what jumped out at me when this subject first came up. It just completely undercut the heel turn that he didn't bother to repackage when he had the opportunity. Robert kept the gear as well when he came back for his matches with Richard which did nothing to help the angle. This just sort of highlights the Rock'n'Rolls never wanting to evolve since the early eighties.

Rick Steiner definitely comes to mind. Also, Mark Henry originally had "WSM" on the back of his singlet to match up with MVP who had MVP on the back of his attire, but mark STILL has those initials on the back of his singlet. Then you had Al Snow as Leif Cassidy. Not only did he still wear the new rockers outfit as a singles wrestler, but when he came to ECW as Al Snow, he STILL wore the new rockers outfit for a time.

That was REALLY jarring to me when I was rewatching November To Remember '97 the other day.

Did either Hardy boy change much up after going solo? I know Matt changed some very minor features but wasn't Jeff broadly the same until he started going budget Mutaface in TNA?

I could be wrong there, I was taking a prolonged break from wrestling at the time the split and came back a few years later during Jeff's most sustained high level push.

I think there's two distinct trajectories for this:

The guy who goes onto bigger and better things as a star but keeps some aspect of their tag look ... Bret, Davey Boy, Bubba Ray, etc.

And then there's the guys who have basically been left behind.

You forgot the third category. Guys who not only keep the outfit and look, but go as far as to change their name to their team name. Category of one, Davey Boy!

Bonus points also awarded for eventually tagging up with some new partner and calling yourselves "The NEW ______" while rehashing the old gimmick. Morton and Gibson are especially noteworthy in this category, because they've both formed The New Rock 'n Roll Express with different partners at different times.

What about "The Acension Conor O'Brien"?
