only had one- The Sheik. I'm sort of surprised as I had a lot of people on my list that aren't popular around these parts. Anyways, if it was a list of my 100 favorite wrestlers there would probably be about a dozen or so guys that I'd have so far.

I voted for the Sheik based primarily on his work with Abdullah against The Funks in Japan, and on a more peripheral level based on some of his other brawls in Japan throughout the years. He pretty much single-handedly ruled Toronto from 70-78, headlining every Maple Leaf Gardens show and having some semi-historic matches with Andre The Giant as well. Of course, he also owned Detroit (literally) for years as well. He influenced countless "garbage wrestlers" who came afterward.

Of course, he couldn't wrestle for shit, he wouldn't do a job to save his life, and he was a delusional weirdo outside the ring (insisting his own family refer to him as The Sheik, including his wife.) The Breaking Kayfabe shoot with Sabu sheds some interesting light on his famous uncle, and the book I have linked in my signature also goes as far behind the curtain with The Sheik as anybody was ever going to get.

If I recall correctly, I had The Sheik in my bottom 20 on my list. I readily agree there are plenty of valid arguments for him not being on anybody's list, but for my money he was influential, memorable and despite the imitators there will never be another like him. I just couldn't leave him off my list, for sentimental reasons if nothing else.

Ok... GWE month continues into May with the tag list reveal.

in fact... can we still turn in ballots for tag team? Please :(

That would be awesome. I was too focused on the singles to really take a crack at tag teams.

Thirded.

And... Andrei Kopylov got 4 votes ? Wow. That's quite amazing. RINGS fans somewhere.

I would like to...uh...fourth this request. If the Tag Ballot is being put off until May, can we still vote on it, please?

Well, I was the high vote on the Sheik at 75. I used an amended BIGLAV approach to rank my set and, while Sheik didn't score highly for great matches (although he got some credit for his AJPW stuff which I like), he got very high ratings for the length of his career, his intangibles and for his general influence on the business and other wrestlers.

Looking at it now, I think 75 might have been a bit high, but I think he deserved a spot on my list and can live with a Sheik avatar for a bit.

Regarding Jimmy Garvin, he wasn't on my list and was never that close, but I do think he might be greater than some of us realise. When I first saw WCW on TV in Britain in 1989, my dad would sometimes watch along with me. He is by no means a wrestling fan but always liked the gobby heels, like the Freebirds, Jim Cornette and Larry Zbyszko. To this day he fondly remembers Garvin's "Yeah, yeah, yeah" routine. So, while he's maybe not that highly regarded by many of us today, he did a very good job of entertaining some people back then, which, at the end of the day is what wrestling is about.

On a different note, I wasn't at all prepared for that picture of Robert Fuller first thing on a Sunday morning.

Robert Fuller's pic. "You've still got it !"

Kevin Cook uploaded a bunch of lucha during the watching and nominating period in '06 and among the smaller ballot turnout were some lists stacked with luchadores.

That helped a lot. I remember having several luchadors in my list despite never really watching lucha, just because I had seen a few great matches. This time around, I have none because I really haven't watched any lucha since that time.

How did the high vote for Joe Malenko not come from a DVDVR guy? That just seems weird.

I was the #99 vote for him.

I thought I would be his only vote - it's not like I hide my Joe Malenko fandom. Though learning Dean submitted a ballot - I figured that would be 2 votes

The fact that someone smoked both of us on high votes says to me that either Dean Malenko or Scott Mailman submitted a ballot.

I'm not going to be able to unsee this Full House gimmick now, especially with middle Tanner on the cover of Us Weekly this week.

As for this Kendrick gimmick? I know its all in good fun and everyone has their presumably legit opinions, but its the kind of thing that makes it hard to take the results seriously.

The way I see it with 150 ballots, those things get cancelled out. The top 100 is a really really good list, trust me.

Excactly! Haven't seen the top 100 obviously, so I might eat my words, but it seems like it cancels itself out like Grimmas says. Brian Kendrick at a final place somewhere between #350 and #400, isn't that fair enough?

Now I understand why Johnny didn't get the Jericho's tights joke, which was really good.

It was a joke, Jerry.

Yeah, I know. That's exactly why I said what I said.

Yeah. Why?

I posted this:

Is "Should have fit "SNAPSHOT OF OUR WRESTLING VIEWING AS IT IS IN 2016" on there. " as a response somehow funny? No offense to Miss Jimmy. Is this some French "Jerry Lewis Is A Genius" thing?
