Bierschwale Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Some great marginal gains for Johnny Saint, who was really one of the only Old British Guys who wouldn't gain a lot from WoS gaining momentum. Tony St. Clair is also in that category, I think.
abrasiveobelisksa Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 And Takayama. Ugh. Dean Malenko in no way deserves to stand in such company. I agree, Takayama does deserve a better partner than Malenko.
Childs Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Had Sano at #30, which is probably way too high but considering where he landed, I'm glad I did it. There's only one vote I really feel stupid about. Seriously, the final list looks like it's gonna have some serious crappy candidates. Hogan ? HHH ? Really people ? Hulk Hogan is the biggest star the industry ever produced. Did you really expect him not to rank in the top 125? Expect? No. Hope? Yes.
Childs Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Sano actually dropped from 2006. What the fuck?
El-P Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Well, gotta make some room for Hulk Hogan and HHH. Those great workers.
Danish Dynamite Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Damn. Pat Patterson gone :-( I know it's pretty strong names by now, but had hoped against my better judgment that he'd just make the final 100. Oh well, too bad. Not enough footage, and virtuallly none from his prime, so there you go.
anarchistxx Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 I like Dean Malenko. Cool, smooth, suave bastard with dozens of good matches. Maybe it was elevator wrestling to a certain extent but you know it can be pretty enjoyable to sit and watch a nicely worked match that doesn't challenge your perceptions. The yacht rock of wrestling or something.
The Russian Daydream Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Good grief! I have a day away with family and tons of my ballot falls! Since I last logged in I've lost Ivan Kolloff, Scott Hall, Scott Steiner, Davey Boy, Tracy Smothers, Sabu, Kikuchi, Brody, Tommy Rich, Perro Aguayo, Marty Jones, Takada, Takayama and Pat Patterson. As Grimmas said, sad times indeed. I also had Luger, Saito, Johnny Saint, Inoki, Butch Reed and Necro Butcher in between 100 and 125. With so many great names haven gone already, im beginning to wonder who's left to make up the top 100!
Bierschwale Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Sano actually dropped from 2006. What the fuck? I'm not at all surprised by that. Little to add to his legacy since '06 and mostly precedes the Super J era.
El-P Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 I like Dean Malenko. Cool, smooth, suave bastard with dozens of good matches. He's the real robot-wrestling-in-a-vacuum. Plus, I blame him & Guerrero for the infamous Eddielenko sequence that has been exhausted to death with people kicking out of their own "pin attempt" to get into the next spot.
Beast Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Malenko would have been in my top 10, maybe top 5 back in 2006. The "Iceman" no kidding around technical stuff doesn't do as much for me now, but he still just made my top 50.
ohtani's jacket Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 I'm marveling at the fact that Steve Grey is still out there.

The yacht rock of wrestling or something. Absolutely valid and I know several guys who really dig him. I prefer at least a little challenged perception from 98% of my top 100, so no room for me for "The yacht rock of wrestling" (nice!). 'Cause I am bored by most his stuff I've seen. Not bad, but my mind wanders to my work, stuff that needs doing on the house, the grocery list, the color of the wall paper and back to the absolutely smooth and fine match.
Timbo Slice Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Kansai at 125 is odd to me because I think she, along with Kandori, had the most upward movement in her rep as the project went on. I figured she could have snuck into the Top 100. Oh well. Gotta make room for Triple H and all that.
Loss Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 HHH has succeeded in making us talk about him instead of much better wrestlers for pages and pages. He truly is the master.

Little to add to his legacy since '06 and mostly precedes the Super J era. The appreciation of his shootstyle stuff, especially the PWFG classics, came after '06.

But even there he's second-tier as a name. I don't know. I'd have put him top 100.
Danish Dynamite Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 HHH has succeeded in making us talk about him instead of much better wrestlers for pages and pages. He truly is the master. Sadly true :-( ... Maybe it's that mythical "Hive-Mind" that you didn't know you were a part of, that has raised The Tripster, The Game (what fucking game? The shit he pulls? Or the big game of Africa making him the hunted, not the hunter?), The Self-proclaimed Ring General, Mr and Mrs Stephanie McMahon...
jamesie_2015 Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 The obsession with HHH is pretty tedious guys. Is there no one else "undeserving" ye could change record to for a small while?
Timbo Slice Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 I love you so much for that post on 120, Steven. Made the entire project worth it.
Matt D Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 It'll shift to Angle soon. Very fun reveal, Steven. I had to hide the fact I was grinning like an idiot because I didn't want to explain why.
