So is he not even pretending to be a libertarian anymore, because this is kind of thing is like....the main thing the libertarians rage about

There are actually quite a few libertarians who think abortion is a violation of the non aggression principle, especially the ones that favor “natural law” theories of rights.

Shouldn't the government regulating body autonomy and medical decisions override that for libertarians

The government for libertarians exists to enforce contracts and to prevent and punish violation of the non-aggression principle. They’re mixed, some are against abortion prohibitions, but I’ve met plenty who think preventing abortion is part and parcel with other protective policing functions the state performs.

I definitely classify myself as a libertarian. And you are right, there are many different subsets, factions and philosophies when it comes to libertarianism. Some of them are actually very far to the left of the political spectrum, some are to the right, and some are…just plain weird.

The fact that Glenn Jacobs ran for and holds political office at all was a pretty good indicator to me of what kind of libertarian he is, I think he is basically an anarcho-capitalist. I have to admit, I was actually a bit surprised to see him tweet that statement regarding the recent supreme court decision. I am hardly an ardent follower of his, but he has made a lot of statements in the past that led me to believe he did not believe in governmental regulation over any aspect of what can be perceived as personal liberty. Then again when it comes to him as I said, many libertarians would consider the very act of running for or holding a political office to be an anathema to the “true” libertarian philosophy.

I would be happy to discuss the different schools of thought within the libertarian scope of political and philosophical theory, but this is PWO after all. Besides, if the last few days have taught us anything, it’s that it is becoming increasingly impossible to have a civil discussion about any major political issue without it inevitably degrading into name calling and shouting rhetoric. I honestly am starting to wonder if it is even possible to have a debate where you can actually effectively change somebody’s mind through the process of reason and logic.

Kane is also a huge "Back the Blue" guy (like his "brother"), which also strikes me as odd considering that the police have been used as a tool of oppression for as long as they've existed as an institution and are often immune from prosecution/accountability for aggression.

So, yes, he's definitely the typical pseudo-intellectual selfish white Libertarian caricature who thinks the government should stay out of his business/home/bedroom, but absolutely should be policing everyone else's because women, people of color, working/lower class, and left-leaning people can't be trusted to "do what's right."

Kane was considered smart because he probably was reading Ayn Rand pseudo-philosophical bullshit in the locker room. At a time "the boys" were just carrying guns and doing drugs and booze and "banging rats", the stuff that gives Taker tears of nostalgia under his Blue Lives Matter cap, that sure passed for "being smart" I guess.

One hell of an article about that skeleton in the closet :

I remember that story from when it first broke but it went away quickly, not surprisingly.

There is no debate when it comes to abortion, you’re either pro-choice or a cunt.

I was talking about debating the merits of libertarianism as a concept, not abortion. But I do not wish to discuss or debate anything with you. I am exercising my right to choose by choosing to put you on my ignore list.

I'm pretty sure Kane is just Republican-adjacent and hasn't developed a political philosophy.  In other countries I think libertarianism is much more intellectualized and better than American libertarianism which has basically been co-opted by the Republican party.  I think probably 85-90% of American libertarians are just "Government sucks" people and are basically Republicans under a different classification.

Good point. That is entirely possible. I am not American and I am not familiar with the American Libertarian movement. I know that the American political spectrum has more or less been shoehorned into two political parties, one left and one right. Maybe Americans who identify as Libertarians are different than those in other countries.

One of the advantages/disadvantages of the Canadian system is that we have several national political parties. It is possible to vote with a bit more nuance here, but it also results in vote-splitting to a considerable degree, at least at times.

American’s co-opt things in bad faith politically all the time. “Communism” and “Socialism” got pounded into our heads that it was bad since that was fascism, except the liberal sides of those ideas got put into good use. Same thing with “Libertarianism.” The American Brand of it sucks, and with us being international in nature, I agree that no good conversation would come it. So we should park it for now.

CJ Perry not on that ridiculous WES show. I guess they won't get the grudge matches of all grudges matches after all. Someone else will have to get concussed by TAFKA Nia Jaxx.

Also, what the hell in not going on with CYN ? Is that deal such a dated joke already ?
