KawadaSmile Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Apparently RAW was in autopilot this week except for the actual main event. BRAUN vs Big Show seemed to be fucking incredible.
sek69 Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Stoked to see him bust out some of the LUCHA BRAUN moveset he was using on the houseshows. I popped for the audible gasp from the crowd when he did a kip up.
sek69 Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Also surprised they managed to work in a Russian hacker joke in the New Day/Rusev/Jinder/Lana segement. I guess Vince really doesn't pay attention to midcard stuff after all.
Jordan Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Main event ruled. Glad the crowd was behind it as much as they were, and I can't imagine Reigns/Strowman not being great. Actually really looking forward to Fastlane.
Strummer Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 I'm digging serious heel Kevin Owens
Strummer Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 also this happened after the show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya-FT-sVckQ
El Dragon Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 I'm both really looking forward to Strowman/Reigns and also really really not looking forward to Roman winning. Braun is so awesome right now.
goc Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Reigns is not gonna win that match. Expect some kind of Undertaker shenanigans.
WingedEagle Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Cosign the KO love this week. He's been one of the worst acts on Raw for months, but between his performance during last week's angle and the promo tonight he's a completely different character and one that you can very easily take seriously. Its a shame it took this long to get there again, but I"m much more invested in that match at Mania than I was 8 9 days ago.
FMKK Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Glad that the crowd were with Braun and Show. I thought the match was really good for the hoss fight it was supposed to be and it's heartening that even in 2017 when it seems like the rubicon has been crossed, WWE can still get fans into that sort of big man monster clash and get Strowman over as a star.
Loss Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 I'm hoping Strowman gets a real run as champion eventually. It would be awesome to see him be the one to knock off Brock for good, whenever that happens, then have a really long run taking on all comers until they finally have whoever is going to be their top babyface ready. If it doesn't play out exactly like that, so be it, but I think Braun is a special talent.
Matt D Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Rocky's sure learned his lesson from being booed for supporting Roman.
Strummer Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Honestly at this point Braun is coming off as a bigger star than Reigns (nothing against Reigns) and yeah I'd like to see him be the one to knock off Brock. A long shot that I also wouldn't mind would be Owens at this point
goc Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Damn that Big Show/Braun match was good. There's pretty much no way they are gonna have Braun do a job at FastLane now after the way they've built him up (if they were actually gonna have him put over Reigns they'd be doing it at Mania) so yea I think there is about a 99% chance of Undertaker somehow costing Roman that match. No idea what Braun ends up doing at Mania but since it seems like he's not going to have a big singles match I think they should put him in the Andre battle royal and have him just completely dominate it and toss out the majority of the guys in it.
KawadaSmile Posted February 21, 2017 Author Report Posted February 21, 2017 Personally, I wouldn't be bothered by Roman going over Strowman, although I do feel that they are pulling some shenanigans there. At Wrestlemania, Braun should eliminate EVERYONE in the Andre Memorial Battle Royal. Literally everyone in that match. Show no mercy, etc.
Coffey Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Strowman/Big Show was awesome. A good hoss on hoss match. Seeing the crowd disappointed that they didn't get a Superplex in 2017 was amazing! Strowman is really good. The Heyman/Lesnar promo was also pretty good to me. Fun stuff.
The Chief Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Strowman vs. Big Show had the most "epic" feel to a TV main event that I can remember one having in a very long time. Maybe since Punk/Ryback? Fun match! I'm looking through the Raw roster and there really aren't any potential Mania opponents for Strowman. Henry and Big Show were both possibilities for a "passing of the torch" style match but that's in the past now. Both guys would also require a lot of rehab booking since they've been pretty low on the totem pole for the past year. Depending on what happens at Fast Lane, Reigns is still a possibility unless he's getting Taker, which the odds favor. Could they turn Rusev babyface? A babyface Rusev vs. Strowman would be incredible. You know Rusev could make it work since his character work is so strong. If Strowman isn't in the Battle Royal, that's an out of left field angle I could get behind.
WingedEagle Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 I definitely enjoyed Strowman vs. Show. The opening with Braun stealing a page from Bryan Danielson was outrageous and such fun. Now I'm not looking to pour cold water on it, but outside of that opening and some of the power spot teases down the stretch, it didn't come across like a match that the crowd was outrageously hot for. I thought it was a fun match that strongly put over Braun heading into the PPV and Mania season (although what they're going to do with him there at this point is a legitimate question), but as a standalone match it didn't resonate as particularly great. Probably Braun's best match thus far and hopefully a meaningful marker in his push and development, but nothing I'd hail as that outstanding of a match.
stro Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Even the Hulu version that cuts out all the filler was terrible. That Bayley/Sasha/Steph/Charlotte promo was abnormally bad. Such terrible writing and delivery from all involved. All the speaking on the show felt extra robotic and stiff. The HOSS battle was dope. A bit longer than it needed to be, but pretty dope nonetheless. Braun is the truth. I was so distracted at KO's appearance during his promo. I don't want to send Grimmas into a tizzy, but dude's beard and teeth are disgusting.
DMJ Posted February 22, 2017 Report Posted February 22, 2017 Cool moment with Rock after RAW. I love that he's such a mega star he can get away with stuff like that and Vince will still do whatever it takes to have him be at Mania. I feel like Austin is at that level too but just would never pull a stunt like that because it's not in his nature. I base that thought entirely on his podcast where he comes across as a level-headed guy that isn't eager to ruffle feathers with anyone over anything. Like, dude just did over an hour with Paul Roma and let him talk all sorts of insanity and just kinda laughed through the stories respectfully. Rock, on the other hand, loves that immediate live crowd feedback he can get by just entertaining a crowd with a mic and is willing to do or say whatever will get the biggest reaction. If the crowd chants CM Punk, get him on the phone! I'm not even sure Rock is aware what a faux pas that was (how much does Rock really keep up with 3 year old WWE drama?) which makes it even greater to me.
...TG Posted February 22, 2017 Report Posted February 22, 2017 I'm generally not a battle royale guy but the Smackdown main event was great. Too bad Harper and AJ didn't touch at the same time like they obviously planned - Harper being like a foot taller than AJ probably didn't help.
Strummer Posted February 22, 2017 Report Posted February 22, 2017 Yep the finish to the battle royal was botched. AJ clearly hit first. They showed no replays. At least the crowd was hot for Harper
stro Posted February 22, 2017 Report Posted February 22, 2017 AJ vs Harper is going to happen? Should be dope. AJ vs Bray would be dope, too. And Orton. I mean, really anyone of note that AJ hasn't paired up with yet would be something worth watching.
Johnny Sorrow Posted February 22, 2017 Report Posted February 22, 2017 If there's one problem with getting Bayley over it's fucking Saxton doing her intro.
