Al
Did Kevin Kelly (Nailz) get injured at the end of his AWA run? Or did he just give up on wrestling until the WWF randomly called? Because if you look at Kevin Kelly in the AWA and Nailz in the WWF they are WAY different physically. And it wasn't just he didn't look cut anymore, he also had pretty shitty cardio.Interesting question. He was nearly a Hulk Hogan clone in AWA and when he popped up in WWF, he turned into a Jim Gaffigan clone.
sek69
Anyone else hear Matt Striker on the ppv mentioning the WWE title changed hands twice in Kansas City, the most memorable being the Undertaker in 1999? Kind of an odd thing to mention considering the lawsuit.

They've acknowledged (and shown footage) of that Taker title victory numerous times I know they've acknowledged the victory before, I thought it was odd they would want to remind anyone directly of events that took place in Kansas City in 1999 considering the lawsuits that are flying around. By that I mean Over the Edge is like a reverse Benoit deal, individually the matches are acknowledged but the show itself is on the list of Things That Shall Not Be Mentioned. Loss
Wow, this whole angle, from Tenay's commentary talking up Randy Anderson's amateur credentials, to Nick Patrick's awesome heel work, to the awesome crowd heat, was really, really well done: WCW had some really good angles going at this time. Strummer
I was just watching some RAWs from late 98 when Jim Ross was out and Lawler and Cole don't even try to make any sense of Russo's angles. They just keep spouting "Isn't this great!?" "Only in the WWF!" "Uh oh what's Mr McMahon going to say about this!" they were so laid back then unlike today where they try to make sense of things and use their serious tones throughout the show
goodhelmet
All pro-wrestling fans should watch the documentary Marjoe about a former child evangelist who exposes all the carny tricks of the "church tent" Revivalist circuit. So much carny goodness, so many killer promos. It's on youtube if you're ever bored. This is the greatest film ever made.
sek69
Child actor Bobb'e J. Thompson is set to guest host RAW in October, according to WO.com. We should set an over/under on how long it takes anyone from the site to realize he's the kid in the new PSP commercials and not just a kid in the movie Cena is making. We are in the age of DVR and torrents, it's very easy to not pay attention to commercials.

So much carny goodness, so many killer promos. It's on youtube if you're ever bored. This is the greatest film ever made. I almost fell out of my chair when he gave a speech where he literally says in order to get the big money on the Evangelical circut you've got to be the guy with the best gimmick because that's what draws. And really it's (somewhat disturbing) thematic similarities to wrestling aside, it really is a pretty good movie.

Eduardo
On this story: http://www.cagesideseats.com/2010/7/20/157...et-the-fans-see Did Dave ever report than Cena donated a watch watch semi-anonymously to the Trent Acid funeral fund to auction off? That's a nice article Keith. I wish I had kept my old Wrestling Observer issues but I remember Meltzer having a very nice story about Cena in 2006 that goes along with this article. He talks about how around that 2006 time period, Cena made an appearance at some sports memorabilia convention. After his part in the event was done, he was walking out and encountered a paralyzed kid out in the parking lot. They had a nice pleasant conversation and when the kid mentioned how he saw an autograph football helmet for sale at the convention that he really liked, Cena quickly took out 3 hundred dollars out of his wallet and handed it over to the fan to go purchase that helmet. Meltzer then said something similar to that last quote you posted in that article Keith about how Cena has done a lot of really nice things that no one knows about. rovert
Latest TNA by Meltzer: The irony of the ECW angle and Paul Heyman is that sources close to both Dixie Carter and Heyman, as well as Heyman himself, all confirm that on 7/8, when Heyman flew to Nashville to meet with Carter at her home, that Heyman told her he was against the angle. What is interesting is those close to Carter were well aware there was no deal after the meeting, yet she and Jeff Jarrett still hinted about their secret meeting with an unknown person and how changes were coming, teasing a surprise on the PPV. There were key people in the TNA organization fully aware Heyman wasn’t coming and there was no surprise past some sort of ECW angle coming that everyone had known about for weeks. Dan
Jason Powell claims that Dixie just recently saw the Heyman interview with Dave and Bryan (the one from right after the Lesnar fight, I guess). And she's since been in a foul mood.
