I'm not familiar with Rice but he & Adidas certainly seem to gell together.

Kokina has been unleashed and the Professor is content to watch the carnage.

The Fortune Ones have arrived and are already pissing everyone off. Hope Young has better luck with this mentor than he did with last one.

Austin has a impressive new heavy in Cannonball Griz.

Adams and Baby Doll waste no time bragging about kicking the King out of the AWA.

The Fortune Ones kick up some serious intruige with a violent attack on Mando.

Morrow gets back into the good life before making a big announcement on next week's Beauty Shop.

I remember watching AWA reruns on ESPN years ago and one of the things I remember most was the pairing with DDP with B-B-Badd Company.

The Warrior is coming!

We get a shocking finish as Blackwell turns to the darkside by assaulting Resnick! Gotta love how he starts complaining how nobody was talking about him being robbed just as the crowd was literally chanting "you were robbed"

Great show but I must work backwards here... the ending was awesome!  I never expected Blackwell to go crazy.  He is one of those stars that I always liked better as a heel and it looks like we are going to get that now.

Very nice of the AWA to give Jarrett, Russell and Lawler some air time... shows how respected these 3 are and how great Dawn of War is that we allow ourselves to do what is right!

Morrow and Brenda on the boat was a nice touch.

I was very interested to see what you were going to do with DDP and I think you have come up with a good idea.  He will be very entertaining.

I admit that I know nothing of Cannonball Grizzly but enjoyed what Rain did with him.  Also, enjoyed his first AWA show.  He just looks like someone who would be fun to write for.  Enjoy.

While Stubbs may be near the end, I think he is someone who could always bring the heat and it looks like that is exactly what he did here.  Nice use of him here in my opinion.

When you look at Bill Ash, he gives off little energy but he was great as the Professor in CCW and he is headed down that same path with you.  I am enjoying his "intellectual" persona and another great way to bring added heat to the Mid-Card.

AWA is rolling in 88

Well spaldoni... you never cease to show me just how good of a writer you've become. I like the way you call upon the past and present the future for everyone to buy into AWA in 88.  DDP is always going to be one of my faves and has a lot of flexibility in the role of someone who can't wrestle. Warrior in 88 in the AWA... that might be just the shot it needed to get back on top!

AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 1-13-88

ring.jpg.6685bd9c84c982000a5099741f977605.jpg

Footage from last week is shown as Crusher Blackwell loses it and slams announcer Ken Resnick on the concrete.

Larry Nelson: Hello fans and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. I'm Larry Nelson and I'll be filling in for Ken Resnick. I wish this was under better circumstances but I can tell you that Ken is resting comfortably at home and I'm sure will be back very soon. I also can tell you that after that despicable and sickening action, Crusher Blackwell has been suspended until further notice. Ok, big show lined up as all the AWA champions will be here tonight. Also, Kokina will face one half of the Technicians and former National tag champ Mark Fleming and the winner will get a TV title shot next week. Right now, we're going to kick things off with the Beauty Shop. Take it away Brenda.

The camera zooms in on the glowing pink Beauty Shop sign, then pans down on Brenda Britton.

britton.jpg.5aec91034fa6881ddb8f0e304ad2e2e2.jpg

Brenda: Hi everybody and welcome to a very, very, very special Beauty Shop. Big things are happening in the AWA and I'm kicking 1988 off with a bang. My very, very, very special guest has promised a blockbuster announcement. Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome out, the millionaire himself, and a very dear friend of mine, Champagne Gerry Morrow!

morrow.jpg.712675a327c62249763b97627a642937.jpg

BOOOOOOS as Morrow struts out wearing a white tuxedo, fedora hat and sunglasses. He kisses Brenda's hand and hugs her.

Morrow: AHHHHH Brenda, so great to be here and I feel so good.

Britton: Gerry, you look like a million bucks! Ok, I can't take it anymore. What's your big announcement?

Morrow: For you Brenda, I shall get right to de point. I have once again become a very rich man. I have thought long and hard on what to do with de money. SO! I have made an investment.

Britton: Sounds intriguing.

Morrow: HAHAHA! Well listen to dis. I have invested in de AWA!

Britton: What! What does that mean?

Morrow: HAHAHAHA! It means that I'm now a partner, an authority figure. I will be in charge of wrestling operations. I get to call de shots.

Britton: WOW! Are you serious? This is incredible!

Morrow: I'm going to take de AWA to the highest heights possible. Bright lights, big cities! I am going to make de AWA a powerhouse global promotion.

Britton: I know you will Gerry! This is so exciting! Can you tell us any plans?

Morrow: Well, I can tell you a little something. Once a month there will be a TV special called TITLE NIGHT. All titles will be defended on dat night. Different cities will host de events. I can also tell you de next pay per view will take place in April. Don't worry, I will have so much more in de weeks to come. Brenda, you made dis all possible and I'll never forget dat. You always have a home here.

Britton: AW Gerry, you're the best! My head is spinning! What a bombshell! I know you'll work wonders with the AWA and I'm looking forward to watching you take the AWA to new and exciting heights. Until next week, toooodles!

The new National Champs get a big ovation as they enter the ring. The fans have really taken a liking to them and their exciting style.

Venomous excite the fans with their high octane offense. Cobra hits a superplex on Sharpe as Kat follows with a moonsault for the pin! The fans are up and cheering as Venomous hold up their titles.

Commercial Break

'Marvelous' Mike George w/Greg Gagne vs. Clinton Stitch

Mike wheels Greg out in a wheelchair and sits him by the ring.

Mike makes short work of Clinton and finishes him off with the Russian Leg Sweep.

Nelson: With me now is the former International Champ Mike George along with Greg Gagne. Greg, I'm assuming your injuries stem from El Canek?

Gagne: Oh, you're a real genius Nelson. I never thought somebody replacing Resnick would be a downgrade, but that's exactly what you are. Look what that animal El Canek did! I'm in a wheelchair because of that ape! Well, he's going to pay and pay hard! 1988 is my year! Gagne's Gang is growing. I already have the greatest International champion of all time Mike George. Now, I'd like to introduce my tag team. I already had my eye on them but they sealed the deal by taking out that pest Mando Guererro. I'm talking about Jerry Stubbs and Gary Young, the Fortunate Ones!

Boos as the Fortunate Ones (wearing their T-Shirts with thumbs up on the back) come out and shake hands with Gagne and George. Everybody is all smiles.

Gagne: My good buddy Bruce Hart left the AWA because of Mando Guerrero. You guys made Mando pay and now you're with me. Gary Young, Jerry Stubbs here is a partner you can count on and I'm the mentor you've been looking for. Gentlemen, welcome to Gagne's Gang. As for you Canek, I've got a surprise for you and trust me, you'll never see it coming! Nelson, you stooge, we're done here!

The Fortunate Ones bump past Nelson as George wheels Gagne away.

Commercial Break

Nikita Koloff vs. Todd Rooney

nikita.jpg.55941a8912bb6329a5654e2ff9df290f.jpg

The fans go wild as Nikita hits the Russian Sickle and it's all over!

Nelson: Nikita, you've quickly become a fan favorite here in the AWA. After your successful route of the Dream Machine at SuperClash 2, what's next?

Nikita: I see a lot of big things going on in the AWA and Nikita wants to be a part of those big plans.

Commercial Break

We see a man swimming laps, followed by him hitting the speedbag, followed by him golfing. The next scene is nighttime. He's dressed in a suit and walking to a limo. He turns around and smiles.

chicky.jpg.74e153cb48047617158ccfe29fe9f15d.jpg

Chicky Starr is coming to the AWA!

Nelson: The AWA isn't wasting any time bringing in International stars and it looks like Chicky Starr is one of them. Hold on! Corporal Kirchner is coming over.

Kirchner: I'm out here for one reason! Frenchy Martin! Your goon Richard Charland put my partner Jesse Barr out of action by piledriving him on the concrete. You hurt him bad and now you're going to get hurt! I've got a Ref, so get out here and let's do this!

The fans are cheering as Kirchner hits the ring. A minute later. BOOOOS as Frenchy comes out waving the Quebec Flag. Kirchner is at the ropes yelling at Frenchy.

WHAM! From behind, Charland nails Kirchner! The Ref signals for the bell as this impromptu match begins.

Charland stomps down on Kirchner, picks him up and slams him down. Charland hops on the middle ropes and crashes down with a knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Charland swings Kirchner to the ropes but misses a clothesline, Kirchner swings back and clotheslines Charland down. Kirchner stomps away on Charland, picks him up and hits a fallaway slam. Kirchner picks up Charland and hits a Fireman's Carry Slam 1..2..NO! Frenchy hits Kirchner with the Quebec Flag! Frenchy helps Charland out to safety as Kirchner groggily gets up with a pissed off look.

AWA World Tag Team Champs The Bruise Brothers vs. Sam Smith and Neil Jordan

Atlas and Cameron brutally tear their opponents up and viciously end things with stereo double axehandles to Jordan's head.

Nelson: Wow! That was devastating. Now, something I heard was that after what happened to him at the hands of the Road Warriors at SuperClash, Snowman is no longer with you guys.

Cameron: Those painted up freaks went way to far! They knew they were going down and crossed a line. From now on, the Bruise Brothers will show no mercy!

Atlas: That's right! We had the Road Warriors beaten and begging, then they had to attack our brother. Cowards!

Nelson: I don't think that's the way it went down, but moving on, at the first Title Night on February 4th, you will be defending the world titles against the number one contenders, the Glamour Boys.

Atlas: We can't wait to put a thrashing on those pretty boys! No Mercy! Glamour Boys you best think twice because you don't know what you're dealing with!

Cameron: They aint got a clue!

Commercial Break

AWA International Champ El Canek vs. Harold Bannister

Everybody is puzzled because Canek has yet to come out.

Nelson: I'm not sure what's going on here but we have security looking around. Hold on, ok, what? Something is going on in the locker room.

We see the cameraman running up to a locker room. The door is open and inside, Crusher Blackwell is tossing security members all around. El Canek is lying on the ground. Blackwell picks up Canek and throws him into the lockers. Blackwell slams Canek on the ground, backs up and splashes him! Blackwell then pushes the lockers on top of Canek! Several wrestlers run in to stop Blackwell. In the background, a smiling Greg Gagne is seen being wheeled away.

Commercial Break

Norvell cuts a promo and says his team is ready for some gold brother!

Commercial Break

Nelson: Fans, with me now is the AWA TV Champ Nick Busick. Nick, in a few moments the winner of the next match will get a shot at your TV title next week. But first I want to congratulate you for successfully defending that title for an entire year. What an amazing feat.

Busick: Thank you Larry. I won this title on my first night in the AWA and made a vow to be a fighting champ. I took on all comers and had some hard matches but here I am still holding this title with pride.

Nelson: You've certainly represented the AWA well. Your cage match with Billy Jak Strong at SuperClash was one of the most hard hitting matches I've ever seen. How you holding up?

Busick: I'm not going to lie, I'm a little banged up, especially my shoulder, but hey, that's the life of a champion and you can rest assured, I'll be ready to defend it next week.

Commercial Break

Winner gets a TV title shot next week

Kokina w/Professor Bill Ash vs. Mark Fleming w/Brad Rheingans

Ash is making a big scene claiming Rheingans doesn't have a manager's license and should leave. Rheingans talks it over with Fleming, shakes his hand and exits without causing a disruption.

The first few minutes is Fleming trying to overcome Kokina's size advantage. Kokina finally gets a grip on Fleming and puts him down with a headbutt. Kokina picks up Fleming and slams him down, then follows with a standing leg drop 1..2..Fleming gets his shoulder up. Kokina continues to work Fleming over, swings him to the ropes but misses a chop, Fleming swings back and dropkicks Kokina. Kokina's staggering. Kokina starts to rise as Fleming applies the rear naked chokehold! Ash is having a breakdown on the outside. Fleming wrenches away. Kokina slowly rises and just falls back to luckily break the hold. Kokina rises and staggers around. Fleming slowly starts to rise. Kokina nails him with a spin kick! Kokina picks up Fleming and hits a Samoan Drop 1..2..3!

Ash rushes the ring and holds Kokina's arm up.

Commercial Break

Nelson: What a show this has been. I've been told by our new C.O.O. Gerry Morrow that AWA television will have a new look next week. We'll see what that's all about. Crusher Blackwell was arrested and escorted out of the building. I'll hope to have an update on that situation next week. I'm really shocked by Blackwell's behavior and I hope El Canek is ok. Next week, Austin Idol will be here as well as Chris Adams, Carlos Colon, the Glamour Boys and much more, plus Nick Busick defends the TV title against Kokina. Right now I want to bring out the AWA world champion, Bad News Brown.

1523393988_badnews.jpg.f11c2fc3ef6a3d2afbd8ef4b160b3e85.jpg

Brown comes out wearing a buttoned down suit, with a gold chain. The man is money! The world title is on his shoulder.

Nelson: Bad News Brown, you've held on to that title since July and have taken on all comers. Most recently you defeated Jerry Lawler at SuperClash. Now, some say Lawler probably would've won the match if Chris Adams and Baby Doll didn't interfere.

Brown: You better show me better respect than that Nelson, or I won't hesitate a second to teach you some. I'm the AWA world champ and nobody and I mean nobody can beat me. I didn't ask for any help. I can't help it if Lawler was so disliked and had numerous enemies. Hey, I walk alone and won this title alone. I don't need anybody or any help.

Nelson: Ok, well next up for you is a title defense at Title Night. You'll be defending against the Latin Heartthrob Al Perez.

Brown: Oh you got that right. Perez is next and that cockroach has no chance!

Nelson: Be careful. He's a War Games survivor and just defeated Larry Zbyszko in a taped fist match at SuperClash. He can wrestle and he can fight.

Brown: You really are a moron and I'm getting real tired of your attitude. Perez can't handle what I've got, plain and simple. He's a boy in a man's game. As for you Nelson, you're on thin ice with me and you better watch yourself!

Brown holds up his title and raises his fist as the show ends.

Morrow is the new COO of the AWA and he wastes no time shaking things up. I like the Title Night idea. Plus he promises the TV title is gonna get a upgrade. This should be a fun ride.

Can't say I'm surprised to see the AWA fans warming up to Venomous.

The addition of the Fortune Ones is one thing but if Greg has got Blackwell on board then Gagne's Gang may just be ruling the roost in 88.

Nikita, Oliver, Putski and the Original Midnights all get some nice showcases.

The Bruise Brothers are fired up. I wouldn't want to be The Glamour Boys come Feb 4th.

Kokina advances to take on a wounded Busick.

Nelson better be careful how he talks to Bad News.

What a start to 88 for the heels of the AWA...

I really like the fact that you are using Morrow as an authority figure.  This adds to the show in an interesting way.

Title Night = $$$$$$$$$  Great Idea.

I hate Gagne and its all your fault!!!!   LOL

Blackwell as a monster heel is perfect.  Great booking.

Bruise Brothers and BNB look unstoppable!

Thanks for all the hard work.  These new angles are great.

The camera pans across sleek new AWA banners hanging from the rafters. The red, white and blue AWA logo is in the middle of the new black ring canvas with gold ring ropes and posts. 'Champagne' Gerry Morrow (wearing a white suit and white fedora hat) is standing in the middle of the ring with a mic.

"HAHAHAHA! Welcome to de new AWA!"

The crowd roars as confetti falls from the ceiling.

The Glamour Boys keep the excitement going with their high octane offense. The fans are on their feet as Doll hits a missile dropkick on Jordan as Simpson follows with a flying splash off the top rope (Glam Slam Thank You Maam) for the win.

Larry Nelson interviews the Glamour Boys about their upcoming world tag team title shot at Title Night on February 4th. The Glamour Boys say they've been waiting a long time for this opportunity and now's the time to win the titles!

Carlos Colon vs. Todd Rooney

colon2.jpg.0b1809729f06a5a88182ec6ebdf57b33.jpg

Judging by the fans reaction, Colon has been fully redeemed and forgiven. Colon hits a diving clothesline from the top rope for the win. Colon's excitement shows as he does a cartwheel.

Nelson: Carlos, just listen to these great fans.

Colon: It's incredible! Thank you! Thank you so much!

Boos as Larry Zbyszko arrogantly walks out.

1484051026_larryz.jpg.191b83bb9ed53893bacae554b010d3fc.jpg

Nelson: Come on Larry, why ruin a special moment.

Larry: Do me a favor Nelson and keep your mouth shut! You know something Colon, you make me sick. This whole thing about redemption and forgiveness makes me want to puke. You begging for these spudheads affection is just pathetic. I mean, what kind of man are you? Just looking at you, I would say a very weak one.

Colon: If you have a problem with me Larry, we can settle it in the ring. Until then, stay out of my way.

Colon starts to walk away but Larry pushes him from behind. Colon turns around and tackles Larry! Both men are rolling around punching each other until officials come out to break it up.

Commercial Break

Synergy (Brian Adias and Ricky Rice) vs. Badd Company w/DDP

rice.jpg.9ffa0a9b152fa14b7ba09c7979d5ce96.jpgadias.jpg.5de878275a49dc9249146a1165731d4e.jpg88844609_badcom.jpg.54e483f09822cb2650a83caf2d8ac5ba.jpg

Both teams recently made their debuts and want to get on the fast track. The match is fast paced and exciting. Both teams are looking good. After a few minutes, Synergy is in control. Adias hoists Paul Diamond up and executes an airplane spin. Adias drops him and tags in Rice. Rice goes to the top rope. Tanaka runs in but Adias knocks him back. DDP gets on the apron and distracts Adias. Diamond starts to rise as Rice hits a sunset flip off the top rope 1..2..Tanaka nails Rice with a karate kick to the face. Diamond rolls over. The Ref counts 1..2..3! Adias turns around a second too late.

DDP gets in there and makes sure everybody knows Badd Co. won the match.

Commercial Break

Nelson: I'm standing here with the AWA operations manager Gerry Morrow. That was quite the kick off tonight. I have to say, excitement is in the air. I understand you have some special announcements to make.

Morrow: AHHH Larry, excitement is de right word. De new and improve AWA is off and running. (Gerry pulls out and bag and pulls out a new championship belt) Impressive isn't it? I have decided to retire de International title and it will be replaced with dis title.

Nelson: Wow! Really? And what is this this new title's name?

Morrow: As you know I am not from dis country. However, I am living proof dat dis country is de land of opportunity and I will recognize dat. Dis championship belt will be known as de AWA Mid American title. Now, El Canek was to be presented with dis title but after what happened last week at de hands of Crusher Blackwell, he will be out of action for awhile. It is very tragic, but de show must go on. I have decided dat on February 4th at Title Night, Mike George will wrestle Austin Idol for de Mid America title. Best of luck to both men.

Nelson: How about that! Huge news indeed. We'll be right back.

We see two cowboys riding horses at full speed across a ranch as the sun sets.

'Gentleman' Chris Adams w/Baby Doll vs. Arnie Goldstein

adams.jpg.177b4c962e2bd0b235f2955f6c59b51c.jpg

Baby Doll claps as Adams hits the Superkick for the win.

Nelson: Chris Adams, Baby Doll, I know you must be excited to be a part of the AWA. Any plans for the future?

Adams: Last week I heard Nikita Koloff saying he wants to be a part of the AWA's big plans. Nikita, let's get one thing straight, Chris Adams is going to take the AWA to heights it has never seen. I'm the big star around here and you better know your place.

Commercial Break

'The Universal Heartthrob' Austin Idol vs. Keith Stetson

idol.jpg.29a92f1f4ea889626b09a958d8d997fd.jpg

Idol gives the fans a show before finishing things off with the Las Vegas Leglock.

Nelson: Austin Idol, what a tremendous opportunity you have on February 4th at Title Night. It's you and Mike George for the Mid American Title.

Idol: Oh darling, 1988 is off to a great start and Austin Idol is ready for some gold brother!

Boos as Mike George wheels Greg Gagne out in a wheel chair. George snatches the mic from Nelson and hands it to Gagne.

Gagne: Austin Idol, I never liked you. You come out here with all this razzle dazzle but to me you're nothing but a clown. You have no business being in the ring with a technical professional like Marvelous Mike George. Be that as it may, come title night, Mike is going to simply outwrestle and outwit you on his way to putting gold back around his waist. He shouldn't have lost the title in the first place. Well, karma came back on El Canek and luck is on our side, the way it should be.

Idol: Yea Greg, you're great at having goons do your dirty work. We all know what happens when you try to get involved. How's that wheel chair working out for you?

Gagne: Careful Clown! You don't want to be on the Gagne Gang hitlist. Because this is what happens.

WHAM!

Mike George hits Idol with a pair of brass knuckles!

George smiles, steps over Idol and wheels Gagne away.

Commercial Break

Nelson: Fans, Idol was helped out of here and you can bet he'll be ready for Mike George at title night. Fans, at SuperClash 2 we all witnessed an absolute classic as Jumbo Tsuruta narrowly defeated Tatsumi Fujinami. I'm pleased to announce a rematch has been signed. Those two will meet in their homeland Japan next month and we will show you that match when it takes place. Ok...oh wait a minute, Dave Taylor is coming over.

Taylor: Larry Nelson, after my British Bomber partner Johnny Smith left, I took a long time to ponder things. I've come to the conclusion that the superior wrestlers do in fact come from the United Kingdom. Now it's time to prove it. I have found a partner who believes in my cause. We are going to represent the UK with the upmost pride. Introducing my partner, Giant Haystacks!

Nelson: My goodness!

United Kingdom vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez

Awesome display as United Kingdom backs up Taylor's words. Taylor hits Lopez with a running forearm blast and tags in Haystacks. Haystacks slams Lopez and drops a big elbow for the easy win.

Special Challenge Match!

'Dynamite' DJ Peterson vs. 'Mr. Magnificent' Keven Kelly

dj.jpg.d21b85baa6a0067301952f842af11acd.jpgkelly.jpg.2989948565b26937ea89b8960bba2ce7.jpg

Kelly, for some reason challenged his former long time rival DJ Peterson. Without hesitation DJ accepted.

The bell rings and these two go at it. It's a slugfest! These guys go back and forth for awhile. Kelly gets the advantage and works over DJ with slams, back breakers, stomps and knee drops. Kelly clamps on a bearhug. DJ fires up and breaks it with a few ear claps.

DJ comes back with a vengeance. DJ clotheslines Kelly down, swings off the ropes and hits a jumping elbow drop. DJ picks up Kelly and hits a delayed vertical suplex. DJ goes to the top rope. Kelly in desperation grabs the Ref's foot. The Ref is yelling down at Kelly, wondering what he's doing.

Wait a minute! The Vin Man runs out and pushes DJ off the top rope!

Kelly releases the Ref, staggers up, grabs DJ and clamps on the full nelson! Kelly swings DJ around and tosses him, then covers 1..2..3! BOOOOOOOO!

Vinnie jumps in the ring and hugs Kelly. Vinnie grabs the mic.

"Reunited and it feels so good. Yea!"

Commercial Break

We once again see the muscular specimen with wild hair standing on top of a mountain. His back is turned. He starts shaking his head. He raises his arms and starts shaking them.

"Warriors! I can feel it! You can feel it too!"

'The Latin Heartthrob' Al Perez vs. Harold Bannister

alp.jpg.385babc5f99261bd7642a5fc6931960f.jpg

Perez looks crisp as he works over his opponent and finishes him off with the helicopter drop!

Nelson: Al Perez, on February 4th at title night, you get the biggest opportunity of your career, an AWA world title shot against Bad News Brown. Bad News might be taking you a little to lightly.

Perez: Hey make no mistake about it, I know I'm going in as the underdog but I've been winning in that role since I arrived here. I won the National tag team titles. I was on the winning War Games team and I came out victorious in a taped fist match at SuperClash 2. I've proven myself and rest assured I'm more than ready for this amazing opportunity. Bad News Brown, get ready because I'm coming at you with everything I have and more!

The bell rings and Ash casually walks out of the ring. He stops, looks at Busick and shakes his head. As Busick watches him exit, Kokina blasts him with a chop to the back of the head. Kokina chops away, grabs Busick and headbutts the back of his head. Kokina swings Busick to the ropes and puts him down with a big chop. Kokina hits Busick's shoulder again with the chair. Kokina picks up Busick and rams him shoulder first into the steel post. Kokina picks up the chair again and walks towards Busick.

Hold on! BILLY JACK STRONG sprints out, grabs Kokina from behind and pushes him into the steel post! What's going on here?!?! Ash has a shocked look on his face as he looks at Strong while backing up towards Kokina. Strong stands over Busick as the show ends.

Jerry welcomes in the new era of the AWA with style and a big announcement, the International title is gone and replaced by the Mid American title.

Colon had faced many grueling challenges in the AWA but now he faces perhaps his biggest test ever.... shutting Larry Z's mouth!

If there's anyone who could turn Austin Idol face, it's Greg Gagne.

Billy Jack Strong saves Busick in the shocking ending.

I think I am really going to like the new AWA.  Jerry Morrow is perfect!

Changing of a title and bringing back the Mid-America title gives us a huge match.  I went from wishing Idol to get crushed by Steve Keirn to hoping he crushes Mike George.  Greg Gagne will do that to you!!

Larry Z-Colon was very creatively done.  We have spoken about Larry Z and how boring we thought he was in real life but Dawn of War and the AWA has shown just how great he truly was.  I like this storyline a lot.

Chris Adams better be careful what he wishes for.  Nikita seems to be going to the top of your AWA.

As much as things are changing in your AWA, they are also staying the same... Vin Man comes to cause some trouble.  He is another one of those wrestlers I knew nothing about until you made him a major player in the AWA.  Nice work.

Busick vs Kokina was an awesome TV match with a very interesting ending.  You got me hooked on what is coming next.

Um, Mr Nelson... Bad News is taking Al Perez lightly and that's because he is Bad News!  lol.

Thanks for the great show.

I love BATTLEKAT! The Mecca looks to be stacked for what will be a barnburner to start 88. This Austin Idol stuff is awesome and just shows he had some juice left. I am enjoying what you're doing wit him. The same goes for Adams and Nikita. Two big time stars who were always a rung down are now at the top of the heap and the AWA will follow their lead. After looking up Gerry on YT... he'll be a welcome treat for the AWA.

Larry Nelson: Greetings everyone and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. You're in for an incredible night of action. Listen to this main event, Nikita Koloff goes one on one with Chris Adams. Also, Rip Oliver takes on Richard Charland for a TV title shot at Title Night. Puerto Rican superstar Chicky Starr makes his AWA debut. All that and so much more. Let's get to the ring for the return of the Gunslingers.

Judging by the fans reaction, they're happy to see the Gunslingers back in the saddles again They haven't lost a step and finish things off with a double running bulldog! They stand on opposite corners smiling and make pistol shooting motions to the fans.

Dream slams Arnie, swings off the ropes and hits the jumping elbow drop for the win.

Nelson: Fans, this weekend the AWA comes to the Louisville Gardens. You'll see Carlos Colon take on Larry Zbyszko. Another match signed will be Scott Putski taking on my guest at this time, Dream Machine. Dream, big match ahead, but I have to ask, have you rebounded from that huge defeat at SuperClash 2 from Nikita Koloff?

Dream: You get'n smart with me boy! What happened at SuperClash was the fluke of the century! The Ref screwed me! You know it and all these idiots know it. That's the end of that. I'm more focused than ever and that toddler Putski is going to find out what the Dream Machine is all about! Bet on that babay!

Commercial Break

The Technicians vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez

Technicians are tuning up for their upcoming National tag title rematch with Venomous at Title Night. Rheingans hits a gut wrench suplex on Lopez, then tags in Fleming. Fleming finishes things off with the rear naked chokehold.

As they're celebrating, the fans get distracted by two men riding motorcycles down the aisle. They stop and rev up a few times. They get off their motorcycles. Their wearing black pants and long leather jackets. The Technicians are wondering what's going on. The two men pull out some small chains and wrap them around their black gloves. They hit the ring and attack the Technicians! They pound down on them with their chained wrapped fists. They keep pounding until Fleming and Rheingans are a bloody mess. They pick up Rheingans and double choke slam him. They pick up Fleming and double choke slam him down. They stand tall and raise their fists.

Nelson: My goodness! The Technicians have been helped out by our medical staff. I have...oh wait these two men are coming over here. Hey! I know you guys and what was that all about?

Man: Yea you do! I'm Mike Miller and this here is Brian Adams! You're looking at Mean Streak! We do what we want to whoever we want and we're serving notice to all the AWA tag teams! Technicians, you were first on the list!

Adams: Mean Streak is here and you all better get used to it cuz we aint going anywhere!

Nelson: Very intimidating, we'll be right back.

Commercial Break

'The Wild One' by Jerry Lee Lewis blasts as we see a red convertible 68 Mustang spin out and stop. The dust settles and the door opens. Out walks Johnny Rich.

1100330928_johnnyrich.jpg.23d5654bd7a4fcb9cb884c13deed1099.jpg

"The past couple of years has been a roller coaster ride for Johnny Rich. I've been hated, loved and everywhere in between. It was time to clear my head and just drive. You never know where the road will take you but the road I'm on goes right to the AWA."

Johnny smiles, gets back in the mustang, blasts more Jerry Lee Lewis and peels out.

'The Wild One' Johnny Rich is coming to the AWA!

Billy Jack Strong vs. Leo Lennix

billy.jpg.0c6386f5a8b4fc47568d78e9a72f1fdc.jpg

Strong easily overpowers his opponent throughout the match and finishes things off with a shoulder breaker.

Nelson: Billy, myself, all these fans, Professor Ash, Kokina and especially Nick Busick were all shocked to see you come to Busick's aid last week. I mean you and Busick are coming off one of the biggest feuds in AWA history. So, I have to ask, why did you do it?

Strong: One word, respect! I have no problem admitting that Nick Busick has been my greatest foe. Him and I went at each other with everything we had. We battered, beat and bloodied each other up. However, we did it face to face, man to man. Kokina and that flunky Ash took the coward's route. I wasn't going to let that happen. If Kokina and flunky want some more, I'm not a hard man to find!

Commercial Break

Oliver remains focused as Frenchy waves the Quebec Flag. Charland tries a sneak attack but Oliver was way ahead of him. Oliver unloads with punches and atomic drops Charland into Frenchy. Frenchy and his flag go flying out of the ring. Oliver covers Charland 1..2..Kick Out. Oliver swings Charland into the corner and follows with a running knee to the mid section. Oliver hip tosses Charland and follows with a running neck snap. Oliver picks up Charland but Charland lowblows him and pulls his trunks to send Oliver out of the ring.

Frenchy staggers up and hits Oliver's back with the flag. Frenchy hurls Oliver back in the ring. Charland grabs the top rope and drops several knees on Oliver. Charland picks up Oliver and hits a backbreaker 1..2..Kick Out. Charland chokes Oliver on the bottom rope, swings off the opposite ropes and hits a body guillotine. Charland vertical suplexes Oliver 1..2..Kick Out. Charland yells at the Ref as Frenchy reaches in and chokes Oliver. Charland swings Oliver to the ropes but misses a clothesline, Oliver swings back and clotheslines Charland down. Both men are down.

Cheers as Corporal Kirchner runs out and hammers away on Frenchy! Kirchner grabs Frenchy's flag and starts beating Frenchy with it!

Charland staggers up and sees what's going on. Charland goes towards the outside but Oliver grabs him, spins him around and hits a belly to belly suplex 1..2..3!!! Huge pop!

Kirchner throws the flag down on Frenchy and exits as Oliver celebrates.

Chicky oozes confidence and arrogance as he struts to the ring. He's wearing sunglasses, gold chains, towel around his neck and a very shiny athletic sweatsuit. He takes his sweet time taking his gear off.

The match is all Chicky. He swings Rooney to the ropes and puts him down with a double thrust. Chicky swings off the ropes and hits a corkscrew elbow drop for the win. Chicky wipes his sweat with his towel, then throws it down on his fallen opponent.

The camera zooms in on the pink glowing 'Beauty Shop' sign, then pans down on Brenda Britton.

britton.jpg.5aec91034fa6881ddb8f0e304ad2e2e2.jpg

Britton: Hi everybody! Is this new AWA exciting or what? All thanks to you Gerry! Well have I got a treat for you all tonight. I have the biggest superstar in the AWA as my guest. After all, this is my first show under Gerry's management, so it had to be big. Please welcome out the AWA world champion, Bad News Brown!

1523393988_badnews.jpg.f11c2fc3ef6a3d2afbd8ef4b160b3e85.jpg

Brown comes out in his buttoned down suit with the world title on his shoulder. He's all business as he stares down at Brenda.

Britton: Mr. Brown, I have to say, you are without a doubt the greatest AWA world champion of all time. Way better than sissies like Jerry Lawler and Ricky Steamboat.

Brown: Beat em both!

Britton: Yes you did! I mean, you've beaten everybody! I guess next up is that guy who thinks he's a real ladies man, Al Perez, yuck!

Brown: Perez is nothing but a spineless cockroach! That fool doesn't belong in the ring with me. I don't care how many War Games he's survived or how many taped fist matches he's won. He's never faced anyone like me and trust me, that's bad news for him!

Britton: Well said. Mark my words, Bad News Brown will be champ for as long as he wants.

Brown turns around and walks away. Brenda gives a puzzled look but doesn't dare say anything.

Britton: Until next time, tooooodles.

George wheels Greg out on his wheelchair, then gets in the ring. George is all over his opponent and wins the match with a Russian Leg Sweep.

The crowd goes nuts as Austin Idol runs out and flips Gagne's wheelchair over! Idol pulls out a pair of brass knuckles. George sprints out after him but Idol decks him with the brass knuckles and knocks him out! George is laid out right next to (screaming in agonizing pain) Gagne.

Nikita turns back around but Baby Doll sprays him! Nikita is staggering around, rubbing his eyes. Adams sneaks up. Nikita turns towards him and Adams blasts him with a superkick! Nikita is down and in serious trouble. Officials run out as Baby Doll and Adams smile and walk away.

Once again we see that muscular man with wild hair standing on top of a mountain. His back is turned, his head and arms start shaking.

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! Come with me Warriors!"

He turns around.

"For I am the Ultimate Warriorrrrrrrrrrrrr!"

The Gunslingers have been a low-key favorite of mine in the game. Glad to see them together again.

Putski should be careful. Dream Machine is looking to prove a point.

What a debut for Mean Streak as they demolish the Technicians.

Johnny Rich looks for a fresh start in the AWA.

Billy Jack Strong with a simple explanation for helping Busick. Looking forward to seeing him take on the monster Kokina.

Oliver is heading to Title Night with a little help from Kirchner.

Chicky with a delightfully scummy debut.

Solid flex for Norvell's crew.

Love Brown having no time Brenda even with all the ass kissing she was doing.

Idol gets his first shots in on Gagne's Gang.

Baby Doll coming in clutch for her man. Nikita is definitely not taking this sitting down.

The Ultimate Warrior is coming!

You seem to have everything moving right where you want them as usual.

Some really big entrances this week as we meet Mean Streak.  Good pairing!  No matter the roster size or star power, you could create a very fun territory.  You have a knack for creating new gimmicks and pushing people to their limits.  For example, what you have done with Bully Busick and Billy Jack Strong has been awesome.

As for entrances... Austin Idol's entrance this week was great.  I love babyfaces who can't stop acting like a heel.  The wheelchair flip and the brass knuckles was great.  I wish 80's wrestling did more of this back in the day.  The babyface always seemed to have to wait to be wronged before they went crazy.  This way is more fun.

Nice job keeping the Adams-Nikita feud really hot.  This is one of the best ways to show Nikita might be able to be taken down without even a hint of a chink in his armor.  Pure 2-1 cheating.  Makes Adams look sneaky enough to get the job done but Koloff never looks vulnerable.

Johnny Rich and Warrior are coming to the AWA!!  Wonder who will make the bigger impact?  LOL.

You've built up Perez so much that he looks like a quality opponent for BNB... but I have a feeling what will happen.

The new AWA is rolling!

AWA @ The Louisville Gardens 1-29-88

awa2.jpg.f9782ae0c524d7a10c4fdd27cab51447.jpg

United Kingdom defeated Gene Ligon and Salvatore Bellomo- Taylor put Bellomo down with a running forearm blast and Haystacks followed with a big elbow drop.

Kokina w/Professor Bill Ash defeated Corporal Kirchner- Kirchner came to fight and really took it to Kokina. The end came when Kirchner went for a Thesz Press but Kokina held on and used the momentum to drop Kirchner on the top rope. Kokina followed with a Samoan Drop and it was all over.

'Mr. Magnificent' Kevin Kelly w/The Vin Man defeated 'Dynamite' DJ Peterson- DJ had Kelly pinballing all over the place. DJ was set to put Kelly away with a superplex but Vinnie reached in and tripped DJ. Kelly fell on top and the Ref counted to 3 as Vinnie held onto DJ's foot.

In the next match, The Fortunate Ones (Jerry Stubbs and Gary Young) are in the ring. They had signed an open match. They address the absent of Greg Gagne due to injuries suffered by Austin Idol (Big Pop) They said they're going to take out their aggression on the pathetic team stupid enough to have signed to face them. Huge pop as Mando Guerrero comes to ringside and announces he found a team to face them. Fortunate Ones are laughing at him but that stops when Mando announces their opponents will be his brothers Hector and Chavo!

The Fortunate Ones vs. Hector and Chavo Guerrero w/Mando

The fans go wild as the Guerreros storm the ring with fists flying. The match turns into a barnburner that keeps the fans on the edge of their seats. Say what you want but Stubbs and Young have quickly become a cohesive unit. However, tonight belongs to the Guerreros. Both teams are in the ring fighting. Fortunate Ones swing the Guerreros into the ropes but miss stereo clotheslines, Guerreros swing back and hit stereo body presses as the Ref counts both men down. The fans are up and cheering the Guerreros AWA debut win.

The Dream Machine vs. Scott 'Powerhouse' Putski

Putski took it to Dream and had him comically bouncing from one end of the ring to the other. Putski was full of energy and brought out all the power moves. He swings Dream into the corner and follows with a running clothesline. He swings Dream into the opposite corner and goes for another running clothesline but Dream moved. Putski hit hard as Dream rolled him up with a hand full of tights for the pin.

Synergy (Brian Adias and Ricky Rice) vs. Badd Co. w/DDP

Both teams recently came into the AWA with some buzz. They wrestled each other on TV with Badd Co. emerging victorious. Tonight, these teams went at each other with a fever pace. The match was a see saw battle with both teams showing off incredible skills and chemistry. The match ends in a draw when 15 minutes went by just like that. DDP wanted 5 more minutes. Synergy accepted but DDP changed his mind and led his men out of there.

Carlos Colon vs. 'The Living Legend' Larry Zbyszko

Colon saw Larry's stalling tactics coming a mile away and decided to nip it quick by pounding on Larry as soon as the bell rang. Colon had the fans jumping as he tore into Larry the first few minutes. Larry turned things around by stopping Colon's momentum with a mule kick. Larry took over and really worked Colon over for the next few minutes. Larry goes for a piledriver but Colon back drops him. Colon makes the classic babyface comeback and has Larry in serious trouble. Larry cuts that off with a vicious eye rake. Larry turns it up with a combination of rule breaking and brutal technical wrestling to wear Colon down. Larry goes for a neckbreaker but Colon counters with a jaw breaker. As Larry staggers up, Colon hits a quick sunset flip 1..2..3! Big POP!!!

Colon celebrates as Larry berates the Ref.

United Kingdom with a dominating win in the open.

Kokina flattens the Corporal.

Kelly and the Vin Man get another one over on Peterson.

Los Guerrero's are together again as Hector and Chavo Classic arrive to fight on their brother's behalf.

Dream Machine with the fluke win.

Colon with the win but I feel Larry Z isn't letting this go.

Commercial Break

We come back and see Gerry Morrow eating dinner at a classy restaurant. Mike George (bandaged forehead) rolls Greg Gagne up in his wheelchair.

Morrow: Ahhhhhhh Greg, Mike, welcome, welcome. How are you feeling?

Gagne: Look at us Gerry. That heathen Austin Idol clocks Mike with brass knuckles last week and tips over my wheelchair, with me in it! He's an animal! An animal, I say!

Morrow: Ok Greg, I hear you and feel your pain. What can I do?

Gagne: (deep breath) Gerry, as you know Mike and that animal Idol will square off for the Mid American title this weekend at title night. With Mike focused on that, what I need is some muscle. Someone to watch my back. I need a favor Gerry.

Morrow: I always liked you Greg, so go ahead and ask.

Gagne: I want you to reinstate Crusher Blackwell. With a crazy man like Idol on the loose and now those nutcase Guerreros are here, I need Crusher.

Morrow: AHHHHHHH Crusher Blackwell. Well, I do feel partially responsible for his breakdown. I'll tell you what Greg. You pay a bit of a fine and I'll be more than happy to reinstate him. I must warn you. Eventually El Canek will return and when he does, he will get his match with Blackwell. I mean Blackwell did cost him de Mid American title. What's fair is fair.

Gagne: I can live with that. Thank you Gerry. Gagne's Gang will be stronger than ever. Idol, Canek, the Guerreros, nobody will stop us, nobody!

Morrow: Dats de spirit. De kind I expect in de new AWA.

'Mr. Magnificent' Kevin Kelly w/The Vin Man vs. Sam Smith

kelly.jpg.2989948565b26937ea89b8960bba2ce7.jpg

Vinnie is all smiles as Kelly clamps on the full nelson and slams Smith down for the win.

Nelson: Well, it appears Kevin Kelly and the Vin Man are back together again.

Vin: You can say that again! Reunited and it feels oh so good! We're back with a vengeance and we've already settled our old score with Doofus DJ Peterson. I'm telling you Kev, this time nothing's going to keep us down. Yea!

Kelly smiles and gives the camera a double bicep pose.

Commercial Break

Nelson: Fans, as you know the AWA's first Title Night will take place tomorrow night at the Mecca in Milwaukee. 5 big title matches on live TV. What a deal. With me right now is Rip Oliver. Rip, you have a big TV title shot against Nick Busick. I know you have something to say.

oliver.jpg.d2e9250547ed055503dda41da84cb1e2.jpg

Oliver: Getting an AWA title shot is a golden opportunity. No doubt about it. Now I know Nick's shoulder has been a serious issue and he took some more damage a couple weeks ago. I also know that no matter what, Nick will be at the Mecca. Right now I want to tell Nick that if he wants to post pone our match, I'm all good with that. I want to make sure I wrestle a Nick Busick that's a hundred percent.

The fans start cheering.

Nelson: My goodness! The Crippler Ray Stevens is here!

rstevens.jpg.49e2e7c909eb0b392ead177e33ff95aa.jpg

Stevens: Emphasis on the word Crippler. Rip Oliver, you've been walking around with the Crippler moniker and believe me I've been watching. When I returned to the AWA a few months back, I didn't use the Crippler name because I respected you.

Oliver: Ray, I can't tell you what that means to me.

Stevens: Hold on. Lately I've noticed that you aren't really that guy anymore. I thought you might've lost your edge. Wasn't quite sure. But after hearing you just now, I can firmly say you have lost your edge. As a matter of fact, you've disgraced the Crippler name and you've disgraced me. If Busick has a hurt shoulder, then you attack that shoulder and win the TV title! What the hell is the matter with you?

Oliver: Ray, all I was saying was that...

WHAM! Ray knocks Oliver down. Ray stomps away on Oliver, picks him up and piledrives him on the concrete!

Nelson: Ray! Stop! We need help out here!

Commercial Break

Hector and Chavo Guerrero w/Mando vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez

guererros.jpg.c7215a2f8495a3d1f63035c11bf35cc9.jpg

The fans are loving the action as the Guerreros hit a double vertical suplex on Lopez. Hector swings Lopez to the ropes as Chavo hits a flying press for the win.

Nelson: Fans, Rip Oliver was stretchered out and will need serious medical attention. I still can't believe the actions of Ray Stevens. Right now I want to bring over the Guerreros. You guys made a triumphant debut in Louisville when you beat the Fortunate Ones. Mando, I'm sure you liked that.

Mando: Hey, Gagne's so called gang injured me. I was down but instead of crying I went out and got a gang of my own. Familia! Hector and Chavo! I have their backs and they have mine!

Commercial Break

Trent Watkins vs. Neil Jordan

The wrestlers are ready for action but from out of nowhere ABBUDA IAUKEA hits the ring and beats both men down with a kendo stick! Abbuda hurls Jordan out of the ring, then clamps the camel clutch on Watkins. Abbuda tosses Watkins aside and goes to the outside.

abbuda.jpg.80fb3378e67249e43be6447f80cbb722.jpg

Nelson: Abbuda! What are you doing here?

Abbuda: Carlos Colon! You put my father out of the AWA! Did you think I would just let that go? That I would forget about it? After all he did for you, you betray him and hurt him. Now it's your turn to feel real pain. I have one goal and that's to rid you from the AWA. Not only that, but I want to do it in the most violent way possible. I challenge you to a Carribean Death Match! Your so called specialty. Do you have the guts Colon?

Officials are helping Trent Watkins. Abbuda runs over and hammers away on Watkins. Abbuda grabs Watkins by his hair and goes right up to the camera and yells 'Colon! Colon!" Then slaps Watkins across the face.

Commercial Break

Highlights of the Jumbo Tsuruta/Tatsumi Fujinami SuperClash 2 match are shown. It was announced that the rematch will take place in Japan and will be shown on US TV. That happens in 2 weeks!

'Gentleman' Chris Adams w/Baby Doll vs. Harold Bannister

adams.jpg.177b4c962e2bd0b235f2955f6c59b51c.jpg

Adams hits the superkick and it's all over!

Nelson: Last week Baby Doll sprayed Nikita Koloff's eyes with pepper spray and Adams followed that up with a superkick. You both better be prepared when Nikita returns.

Baby Doll: If he returns. (laughs) A big if.

Adams: We warned Nikita and he chose to take it lightly. I said I am the biggest star in the AWA and I proved it by putting Nikita down and out. I don't really get all his hype. He isn't nearly as tough as everybody made him out to be. Rather disappointing.

Nelson rolls his eyes.

Commercial Break

Billy Jack Strong vs. Cannonball Griz w/Norvell Austin

billy.jpg.0c6386f5a8b4fc47568d78e9a72f1fdc.jpgcannonball.jpg.2c6757c6944d38cd954a77f000697124.jpg

We've got a big man slugfest going on. Strong gets the upper hand, swings Griz to the ropes and goes for a shoulder block but both men remain standing. Griz rakes Strong's eyes, swings him to the ropes and goes for a shoulder block and once again neither man goes down. Griz pushes Strong and goes for a clothesline but Strong ducks, turns around and sends Griz over the top rope with a running clothesline! Norvell gets on the apron and argues with the Ref. While that's happening, Kokina hits the ring and clotheslines Strong from behind. Norvell keeps arguing with the Ref. Kokina picks up Strong and hits the Samoan Drop. Professor Ash leads Kokina back up the aisle.

Griz slides back into the ring. Norvell shouts instructions. Griz hops on the middle ropes and crashes down with a splash on Strong 1..2..3!

Norvell runs in and does a super bowl celebration.

The Ultimate Warrior is on the screen. He's shaking and yelling.

"Fear is the first taste of defeat. The Warrior only breathes the air of the brave. And the Warrior only feasts on the fruit of victory!

The Ultimate Warrior is coming soon to the AWA!

The Synergy/Badd Company feud is officially underway. This is gonna be fun.

Rich looks to have a Wild ride in the AWA.

Frenchy helps his man eke out a win over the Corporal.

Gerry agrees to bring back Blackwell but won't stop Canek when the luchador comes looking for payback.

Kelly always seems to step his game up when the Vin Man is around.

Ray Stevens returns to show Ray Oliver what being a Crippler is all about.

Mando properly introduces his hermano's to the AWA audience.

Curtis may be gone but Abbuda Iaukea is still around to wreck havoc.

I'd say Adams could eat those words but I'm not sure Nikita is gonna leave him with any teeth left.

Kokina costs Strong in the main event.

You're really capturing the utter insanity of the Warrior's promo.

AWA TV Special- Title Night 2-4-88

From the Mecca in Milwaukee

belt.jpg.ffc428bf4f8d01f47f041d57f4dd5af2.jpg

Ken Resnick: Hello AWA fans, it's great to be back with you and here at the very first Title Night. 5 tremendous title matches lined up. Before we get things going, I'm here with the AWA TV champ Nick Busick. Nick, you were scheduled to face Rip Oliver, but thanks to Ray Stevens, Oliver will not be able to wrestle. Larry Zbyszko has been announced as the substitute. You were allowed a week to prepare but chose to defend that title tonight. Are you sure you want to do that? I know you've been having issues with your shoulder.

Busick: Yea, this shoulder has caused me some issues. Because I was getting it looked at yesterday, I was unable to watch Billy Jack's back. I felt I should've been there for him since he was there for me. As far as defending the TV title tonight. I said I would be a fighting champ and I've been just that for over a year. Ken, I'll be ready for Zbyszko.

Resnick: Ok, there you have it. Let's get the night going.

AWA National Tag Team Title Bout

Venomous (C) vs. The Technicians

Venomous defeated the Technicians at SuperClash to win the titles. Technicians were prepared for the rematch until an unexpected attack by Mean Streak tampered that.

Technicians were obviously still feeling the effects but managed to keep Venomous grounded with some solid mat work. Technicians turned things up with some intense grappling and scientific wrestling. Venomous got things going their way and turned things way up the high flying offense. The wear and tear caught up with the Technicians as Cobra hit a superplex on Fleming and Kat followed with a moonsault for the win. Afterwards, Venomous helped Fleming up and shook hands with the Technicians.

Winners of the Match and still AWA National Tag Team Champs- Venomous

AWA TV Title Bout

Nick Busick (C) vs. 'The Living Legend' Larry Zbyszko

Instead of stalling, Zbyszko immediately goes after Busick's shoulder. Zbyszko works it over and goes for a running shoulder breaker but Busick wiggles his way behind Zbyszko and pushes him into the turnbuckles. Busick regroups and has Zbyszko pinballing everywhere. Slams, clotheslines, back drops, forearm smashes. Busick's rock'n and roll'n. Busick clotheslines Zbyszko over the top rope. Zbyszko staggers around on the outside and now plays the stalling game. Busick gets impatient and goes out after him. Zbyszko rakes his eyes and swings Busick towards the steel post, Busick reverses it and swings Zbyszko into the steel post. Busick charges Zbyszko but Zbyszko moves as Busick hits shoulder first into the steel post. Zbyszko clears the cobwebs and swings Busick shoulder first into the steel post. Zbyszko hurls Busick into the ring. Zbyszko picks up Busick and drops him with 3 consecutive shoulder breakers 1..2..NO! Busick somehow manages to get his shoulder up! A pissed off Zbyszko goes to the top rope. Busick gets to his knees as Zbyszko crashes down with a knee to Busick's shoulder 1..2..3!!!!! Nick Busick's 13 month TV title reign has come to an end. Zbyszko grabs the TV title and raises it high. He looks at the camera and says "Welcome to Larry Land!"

As Nick Busick is being helped out, the fans give him a standing ovation for one epic title run.

Winner of the match and NEW AWA TV Champ- Larry Zbyszko

For the AWA Mid-American Title

Austin Idol vs. 'Marvelous' Mike George w/Greg Gagne

Gagne couldn't do much interfering due to still being confined to a wheel chair. Idol takes full advantage and is all over George. George turns things around when Idol goes for a back drop and George punts him hard. George controls things for awhile with a variety of suplexes, slams, rulebreaking and then goes into submission moves. Idol hasn't been used to hearing the fans cheers but he's getting them tonight. Idol slowly and surely starts to fight back. He really gets momentum when he nails George with a hot shot on the top rope. Idol goes to town on George's leg. He slides out of the ring, pulls George's legs and slams his leg on the steel post. Idol waves at a furious Greg Gagne. Idol slides back in, pulls George's legs apart and drops several elbows on the leg. Idol picks up George and drops him with a shin breaker. Idol clamps on the Las Vegas Leglock! The fans stand up and cheer as George submits! Gagne is going nuts. Idol acknowledges the fans support.

Gerry Morrow comes in and presents Idol with the new Mid American title. Idol holds it up and takes in the cheers.

Winner of the Match and NEW AWA Mid American champ-Austin Idol

AWA World Tag Team Title Bout

The Bruise Brothers (C) vs. The Glamour Boys

The Glamour Boys received this much deserved title shot after winning their feud with the Midnight Express. The Bruise Brothers have been dominant champs since July. Thanks to the Road Warriors they lost Snowman but Atlas and Cameron seem more brutal than ever.

The Glamour Boys control early and take the champs off their game with high octane offense and impressive chemistry. Bruise Brothers come back hard and really punish the Glamour Boys. However, the Glamour Boys just wont quit. This irritates and angers the Bruise Brothers and they inflict more pain and punishment. The Glamour Boys have the comeback of a lifetime as incredible adrenaline kicks in. They double back drop Atlas and double dropkick Cameron out of the ring. The Glamour Boys go to opposite top ropes. Atlas staggers up and gets nailed with a missile dropkick from Simpson! Doll follows with a top rope splash 1..2..Cameron breaks it! Simpson goes for a flying press on Cameron but Cameron catches him in mid air! Doll dropkicks Simpson's back and Simpson falls on top of Cameron. Atlas blasts Doll from behind. Atlas stomps on Simpson and helps Cameron up. They hurl Simpson out of the ring. They pick up Doll, swing him to the ropes and put him down with stereo double axehandles 1..2..3!!

Winners of the Match and STILL AWA World Tag Team Champs- The Bruise Brothers

AWA World Title Bout

Bad News Brown (C) vs. 'The Latin Heartthrob' Al Perez

Big time main event feel. Perez has been on an unbelievable roll with high profile wins at Collision at the Coliseum and SuperClash 2. Brown has been champ since July and has defeated all challengers.

The first few minutes is back and forth with neither man gaining an advantage. Brown came to fight and Perez is going toe to toe with him. Both men get to shine in this roller coaster match. After 15 minutes, Perez is feeling it but Brown cuts him off with a knee to the mid section off the ropes. Brown goes into beast mode and hammers away on Perez but can't put him away. Brown gets frustrated and baseball slides Perez out of the ring. Brown goes out after him. Perez slides back in the ring. Brown gets on the apron, Perez punches away and suplexes him back in the ring. Perez swings Brown to the ropes and back drops him. Brown staggers up and Perez dropkicks him down. Brown staggers up and Perez scoop slams him down. Perez swings off the ropes and hits a jumping elbow drop. Perez goes to the middle ropes and comes down with a forearm drop. Perez swings Brown to the ropes and hits a sidewalk slam. Perez is fired up! He picks up Brown and hits the helicopter drop 1..2..3! NO Wait! The Ref sees Brown's foot on the rope. Perez thinks he won. He jumps up in pure elation. The Ref jumps up and explains the situation to Perez. Perez can't believe it. Brown clotheslines Perez from behind! Brown leans against the ropes and regroups. Perez staggers up as Brown clotheslines him down again. Brown swings off the ropes and hits a delayed knee drop on Perez. Brown picks up Perez and swings him hard, front first into the corner. Perez hits the corner and staggers back as Brown drops him with the ghetto blaster 1..2..3!

Brown stands in the middle of the ring holding his title and fist high.

Resnick: Fans, what a night this has been. I'll see you next month for our March edition of Title Night.

The Technicians were just to beaten down to take the titles from Venomous.

Thanks to the bad shoulder, the TV title is going to Larry Land. But Busick still had one hell of a run.

Unfortunately for George, Blackwell still wasn't allowed at ringside allowing Idol to capture the Mid-American title.

The Bruise Brothers certainly left a few bruises on the Glamour Boys in route to retaining their titles.

Bad News hangs on to the World Title despite a false finish. Perez definitely impressed though.

Sorry for falling a little behind.  Loved the TV show, especially the whole Crippler angle.  This is going to be great.  I can't wait to see who you have winning this one in the end.  While Stevens is nearing the end, he is just tough enough to go after anyone he considers to not be tough enough.  Love how he called out the new Crippler.  Very creative.

I was also very interested in what you were going to do with DDP.  When I saw his name in the draft, I was interested but with him not yet in the ring, I couldn't figure out what to do with him.  You came up with the perfect idea... let DDP be DDP!  I mean that energy and attitude had to be there from birth with him.  Great thinking!!!

In Milwaukee, I had a real bad feeling when I saw Larry Z getting the fill in match for the TV title....  You have made this title very important.  Bully was an awesome fighting champ.  Now with Larry Z, I think you have creatively gone the other way.  His smugness and nonsense are going to drive fans crazy.  This is going to be awesome and totally annoying at the same time.

Seeing Idol take down George and Gagne eased some of the pain of the tv title match.

Perez might have just earned himself a rematch!!

AWA TV Champ Larry Zbyszko vs. Melvin Tyler

Larry's smugness is at an all time high tonight and wins the match with a swinging neckbreaker.

Nelson: Larry Zbyszko...

Zbyszko: (abruptly cuts off Nelson) Whoa whoa whoa! Listen spudhead, I want you to announce me as the new AWA TV champion! What's the matter with you? You give us Larry's a bad name, you know that?

Nelson: (Rolls his eyes) My apologies. Our new AWA TV champion, Larry Zbyszko. Larry, you ended the amazing 13 month reign of Nick Busick.

Zbyszko: Let me stop you right there. Of course I did! The only reason that dope Busick held this title so long was because he ducked me for 13 months. Now the AWA has a class act champion who will represent them well. 13 months will be nothing for me because nobody is qualified to beat me. Welcome to Larry Land!

Zbyszko twirls his finger off his head, shines his title and walks out.

Nelson: That was a lot to take in. I want to inform you fans that Nick Busick is undergoing surgery on his shoulder and will be out of action for a bit. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Nelson: Carlos, last week Abbuda Iaukea returned in a brutal way and challenged you to a Carribean Death Match, you accepted and that match will happen next week in Winnipeg.

Colon: Abbuda! I finally exterminated your father from the AWA. I thought this was over but I was wrong.

Vinnie bails as DJ goes to town on Kelly. The first couple minutes is all DJ as he pinballs Kelly all over the place. A trip by Vinnie changes the momentum and Kelly takes full advantage. Kelly puts his power to use and hammers away on DJ. Kelly goes for a suplex but DJ blocks it and suplexes Kelly. DJ fires up and gives Kelly a taste of his power. Vinnie hops on the apron. DJ grabs Vinnie and presses him over his head. Kelly staggers up as DJ throws Vinnie into Kelly. DJ hurls Vinnie out of the ring. Kelly slowly staggers up as DJ swings off the ropes and hits Kelly with a flying clothesline 1..2..3! Big POP!

Devastating squash as Mean Streak easily win the match with a double chokeslam!

Nelson: Mean Streak, you've gathered quite a bit of buzz since attacking the Technicians.

Miller: Hey, we said we do what whatever we want and there isn't a damn thing anybody can do about it!

Brian: If those goody goody technicians want to try, then bring it on!

Commercial Break

'Crippler' Ray Stevens vs. Noah Rogers

rstevens.jpg.49e2e7c909eb0b392ead177e33ff95aa.jpg

Stevens is brutal and aggressive before hitting the piledriver for the win.

Nelson: Ray Stevens, I was shocked at your actions last week. Rip Oliver is in the hospital thanks to you piledriving him on the concrete.

Stevens: That man made a mockery of the crippler name. I came here to show the world what a crippler is. Rip Oliver! When and if you're ever cleared to wrestle again, Crippler Ray Stevens will be waiting!

Commercial Break

The Gunslingers vs. United Kingdom

Mantell comes off the top rope and nails Haystacks with a double axehandle. Haystacks is staggering. The Gunslingers swing off the ropes and nail Haystacks with a double clothesline. Haystacks falls back and gets tangled in the ropes. While all this was going on, Taylor went to the outside and grabbed a chair. He slides in the ring and hits Mantell across the back. The Ref signals for the DQ as Taylor quickly slides out of the ring and untangles Haystacks while Casey checks on his partner.

kokina.jpg.f9f06b888f30e4c1a37fbeaab73456ba.jpg

Kokina hoists Thorpe up and hits the Samoan Drop for the win.

Nelson: Professor, you and Kokina will have your hands full with Billy Jack Strong.

Ash: Being a Professor means I'm a very smart man. Billy Jack Strong stuck his nose in our business because of respect for Nick Busick. In my book, that makes him an idiot. Where's Busick? That's my point! Billy Jack Strong, it wasn't worth it and you'll realize that when Kokina tears you apart limb by limb.

Commercial Break

Winner gets an AWA TV Title shot next week

Young distracts Putski as Stubbs hits Putski from behind with a forearm blast. Stubbs works over Putski and chokes him on the bottom rope. He breaks as Young slaps Putski. Stubbs picks Putski up and rakes his face across the top rope, then distracts the Ref as Young grabs Putski and snaps his head on the top rope. Brown walks out in his buttoned down suit and gold chain. His title is on his shoulder.

Nelson: Bad News Brown, your title reign has been nothing short of impressive. At Title Night, Al Perez gave you a real run for your money and has been granted a rematch next week in Winnipeg.

Brown: Why does that chump deserve a rematch? I already beat him to a pulp.

Nelson: Well he did get a 3 count but your foot was under the ropes.

Brown: So what! That's part of the game. It don't matter. I'm going to beat that spineless cockroach again and this time he'll have no excuses and he won't want another match with me, and that's bad news for Al Perez!

Synergy put one over on Badd Company.

One night in Larry Land and I'm sure the crowd is already eager for someone to get the title off Zbyszko.

Nikita is ready to tear Adams' head off in Winnipeg.

Abbuda goes for a fireball ahead of the Caribbean Death match.

Peterson wins another battle in his eternal war with Kelly.

Solid showcases for Mean Streak & the Crippler.

Wild finish to Gunslingers v United Kingdom. There's definitely more coming.

The World champion sends us off the air with some Bad News for Al Perez.

DJ and Kelly kept fighting up the aisle.

'Quebecer' Richard Charland w/Frenchy Martin defeated Billy Jack Strong by DQ- Strong was DQed, when Corporal Kirchner hit the ring and attacked Charland. After the match, Kirchner apologized to Strong and Strong seemed to understand.

AWA World Tag Team Title Bout

The Bruise Brothers (C) vs. The Glamour Boys

The Glamour Boys have been putting up some solid outings against the champs on the loop. Tonight was no different. The Glamour Boys had the fans up and cheering with their high octane offense. On the flip side, the Bruise Brothers literally focused on their strengths and put their incredible power to work. In the end, Doll went for a flying press on Cameron, but Cameron caught him and powerslammed him over for the win.

Chicky and the OG Midnights get to show off.

Charland & Kirchner take turns interfering in each other's matches, though Charland is a bit smarter about it.

Griz has a wild one with The Wild One.

That six man definitely stole the show.

The Glamour Boys just can't overcome the power of the Bruise Brothers.

I find it really amazing how you are able to switch gears so quickly.  As soon as you finish from one big show, you transition to the next one so easily.  What you have done with Carlos Colon over the past two years or so is remarkable.  To me, he is like Tommy Rich was in Georgia.  From one feud to the next, Colon just keeps on going.  The missed fireball here was a cool extra.  Not sure I have ever seen that done.

Great choice with Larry Z to take over for Bully.  His arrogance is going to drive my crazy and you have his promos down pat.

Nikita vs Adams is interesting. Is Adams the real deal or the big time jobber.  Looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

Perfect angle for Crippler!  In the end, does this have Rip Oliver moving up the ranks or out of the AWA.  Can't wait to see how this plays out.
