  2. Orton barely survived a match with The Miz without getting injured I suspect he'll wind up in a full body cast after a match with Lesnar.
  3. Maybe they'll get caught in a loop and just keep doing it over and over since that's 90% of their offense anyway.
  4. Do those sites that let you bet on WWE take prop bets? Because I would seriously put money on this happening.
  5. I can't imagine a worse possible match up than babyface Dolph vs. babyface Ambrose. I look forward to the battle of 100 superkicks vs. 100 rebound lariats. At least the question of "Who has the worst offense in WWE?" will finally be decided.
  6. They did that for years during the original brand split so if it was such a bad idea I don't think Monday SD house shows would have lasted as long as they did the first time around.
  7. Everyone knows who is going to win in a squash match so how can you have the always important shock factor?
  8. Southwest Championship Wrestling @ San Antonio, TX - The HemisFair Arena 1/8/84 Southwest Heavyweight Title: David Von Erich vs. Tully Blanchard w/Sunshine - Tully tries to run from the ring as soon as the bell sounds but David Von Erich grabs his foot as he tries to scramble under the bottom rope! Sunshine pulls on Tully's arms to try and help him get out of the ring as David pulls on his legs to try and get him back inside. David then suddenly lets go of Tully which causes Tully to go crashing out of the ring on top of Sunshine much to the crowd's delight! David then quickly goes out of the ring after Tully before he can recover and David starts beating the hell out of Tully! David pounds away on Tully as Tully tries to run away from him until Sunshine jumps in between David & Tully! Sunshine begs David for forgiveness and while Sunshine has David distracted, Tully tries to cheapshot David over her shoulder but David ducks his punch and comes back with one of his own that puts Tully down on the floor of the HemisFair Arena! David then pulls Tully up and shoves him back into the ring and goes to follow him back in but Sunshine grabs his foot as he's getting back up on the apron. David yanks his leg away and starts yelling at Sunshine from the apron when Tully recovers in the ring and comes charging at David with a big knee to midsection which doubles David over and then Tully suplexes David from the apron back into the ring and covers him while putting his feet on the ropes! Carl Fergie quickly gets down to make the cover but David is able to kick out at the count of 2, much to the chagrin of Tully Blanchard! Tully decides to go back to his strategy of running away and bails out of the ring. He tells Sunshine to grab his belt and the two of them start up the aisle but David chases them down and bowls Tully over from behind! David drags Tully back to the ring and throws him back in. Sunshine starts to swing the Southwest Heavyweight Title at David's back but David turns around and grabs the belt away from her mid-swing! David pulls the belt away from her and starts to threaten her when Tully grabs David by the hair from inside the ring and rams his head into the steel ring post! Tully then goes back out after David and rams his head into the post again, opening up a cut on David's forehead! Tully thinks about heading back to the locker room and taking the count out but seeing David in bad shape he decides to continue his assault, slamming David's head off the ring apron and then rolling him back inside the ring. Tully works over David's cut and continues to try and pin him but David won't stay down for the 3 count. After a few minutes of working over David, Tully tries to set him up for the Slingshot Suplex but David hooks his leg around Tully's and blocks the suplex and counters it into a front suplex of his own, slamming Tully down stomach first onto the mat. Tully gets up first before David and tries to go after him but David hits a punch to Tully's gut and staggers back to his feet, keeping Tully off balance with more punches. David whips Tully into the ropes and goes for his jumping high knee but Tully ducks out of the way at the last second and David crashes into Carl Fergie instead! David tries to check on Carl Fergie which leaves him exposed to Tully who attacks him from behind! Tully calls for Sunshine to throw him in the Southwest Title, which she does. Tully readies to blast David with the belt as he gets back up but David ducks under the incoming blow and then has a tug of war with Tully over the belt! David kicks Tully off and then blasts him with the title belt just as Carl Fergie is starting to stir. David throws the belt out of the ring and covers Tully but Carl Fergie is still groggy and makes a slow count which gives Sunshine time to put Tully's foot on the ropes and call Fergie's attention to it. David starts arguing with Sunshine which allows the now bloodied Tully the chance to get back to his feet. Tully is about to attack David from behind again when David turns around just in time to avoid Tully's double axe handle blow and then David catches Tully in the Iron Claw! Tully tries to reach out for the ropes but David pulls him towards the center of the ring! Blood starts pouring out of Tully's head as the pressure from the Iron Claw is opening up the cut on his head even more! Sunshine sees Tully fading and gets ready to run into the ring to try and help him but David trips her up as she comes charging in the ring at him with her loaded purse and she goes sprawling back out of the ring! Tully looks completely out of it and Carl Fergie raises and lowers his arm and it drops twice. Carl Fergie raises his arm a third time as Sunshine tries to get back in the ring again to cause a disqualification but Tully's arm drops for the third time before she can get there and David Von Erich is declared the winner and the new champion! Winner and NEW Southwest Heavyweight Champion: David Von Erich in 14:22 after making Tully Blanchard pass out in the Iron Claw! David Von Erich celebrates with the Southwest Title to a roaring ovation from the crowd who are elated to finally see someone beat Tully Blanchard and end his long reign as Southwest Heavyweight Champion. Sunshine tries to revive Tully Blanchard who is still laid out in a pool of his own blood and David comes and stands over her with the Southwest Title before leaving the ring. Sunshine screams at Carl Fergie to get help for Tully and eventually Carl Fergie, Jack Howe and Sunshine have to help Tully Blanchard from the ring and back to the locker room. El Gran Apollo vs. Mr. Saito - The two men locked up to start the match and Apollo quickly took Mr. Saito down with an arm drag that caught Saito by surprise. Saito went for another lockup only to get taken down by another arm drag and hit with a dropkick as he was getting back to his feet. Mr. Saito rolled outside and stood on the floor looking surprised that Apollo was presenting him with any kind of challenge. Saito got back in the ring and locked up with Apollo again and this time got the better of it as he whipped Apollo into the ropes and ducked down for a back body drop but Apollo vaulted over him with a sunset flip and came very close to getting pinned as Saito was only able to get his shoulder up right before Jack Howe made the 3 count. Saito rolled out again and had a temper tantrum at ringside about getting shown up in the early going by the young Apollo. Saito got back in the ring and wanted a test of strength against Apollo but Apollo was wary about trusting him. Saito finally goaded him into the test of strength but much to everyone's surprise he didn't kick Apollo or sucker him into anything as the two of them jockeyed for position in the test of strength. Saito started to over power Apollo but Apollo used the adrenaline of the crowd chanting his name to push back up and come over the top and overpower Mr. Saito to win the test of strength! Saito tried to break off but Apollo instead pulled him in and hooked him up for a big vertical suplex and covered Saito for a pin but Saito was able to kick out after 1 and rolled back out of the ring again. Mr. Saito started up the aisle to just walk away from the match so he could go into his Southwest Title match as fresh as possible but the crowd started mocking him and Saito got back in the ring just as Jack Howe was about to finishing counting him out. Saito went for another lockup but this time buried a knee in Apollo's midsection and started blasting him with chops. He kicked Apollo in the stomach and then took him over with a hard gutwrench suplex and pinned him but Apollo was able to quickly kick out! Saito grabbed Apollo into a chin lock and tried to keep him grounded but Apollo quickly got back up to his feet and fought out of the hold and shoved Saito into the ropes and caught him with a big drop kick as Saito came rebounding off the ropes. Saito got back up and ate another dropkick and then Apollo circled around behind Saito as he got up again and grabbed him into a big German suplex! Apollo quickly climbed up to the top rope as Saito was down and as Saito got back up Apollo came flying off with the Top Rope Crossbody but Saito dodged at the last second and Apollo crashed hard on the mat! Saito quickly followed up the advantage by putting the prone Apollo in his unusual kneeling figure four hold, focusing on Apollo's legs to take away his speed and high flying ability. Apollo refused to quit in the hold and after a long grueling process of pulling himself to the ropes he was able to finally break the hold. Saito quickly pulled him back into the center of the ring however and re-established the kneeling figure four, shouting at Apollo to give up. Apollo refused to quit however and once again pulled himself towards the ropes. Saito then pulled Apollo back up and hit him with another hard gutwrench suplex and covered him for the pin but Apollo kicked out before the 3 count. As Apollo was getting back up Saito got around behind him and dropped him with a German suplex of his own and held it for a pin attempt but Apollo was again able to kick out before the 3 count. Saito argued with Jack Howe about not counting fast enough and then started kicking and stomping at Apollo was he tried to get back up. Saito pulled Apollo up and shoved him into the corner and started to set him up for a Superplex but Apollo started to fight back and knocked Saito off 2nd turnbuckle! Apollo tried to set himself up for another Top Rope Crossbody attempt but Saito was back up too quickly and knocked Apollo's feet out from under him, causing him to fall hard on the top turnbuckle and then into the ring. Saito scooped up Apollo off the mat and then dropped him on his head with the Saito Suplex and covered him for the pin but shockingly El Gran Apollo kicked out right before Jack Howe counted to 3! Mr. Saito was furious about his patented suplex being kicked out of and shouted at Jack Howe about a slow count! Saito looked like he was about ready to slap Jack Howe but then turned back to El Gran Apollo and started to pick him up with Apollo pulled Saito into a small package and pinned him to win the match! Winner: El Gran Apollo in 12:58 after a small package Mr. Saito is furious after the match, arguing with referee Jack Howe about the pin count. As Saito sees El Gran Apollo struggling back to his feet he grabs him around the waist and drops him on his head with another big Saito Suplex! Mr. Saito then goes back to arguing with Jack Howe threatening to attack him if he doesn't admit he made a fast count and restart the match. Jack Howe refuses to restart the match and starts to leave the ring when Saito grabs him and pulls him back in. Saito looks about ready to strike Jack Howe when he sees El Gran Apollo once again trying to get back to his feet. Saito gets enraged at Apollo getting up again and drops him with the 3rd Saito Suplex of the night! Finally help comes out from the locker room as Tony Torres, Mike Jackson, Tiny Anderson, Steve Pardee & Larry Hamilton run out to try and get Apollo out of the ring while Pat Rose, Ron Sexton, Goldie Rogers & Timothy Flowers try and talk Saito out of attacking referee Jack Howe, telling him that he could lose his title match in the main event if he does so. Finally Saito leaves the ring and goes back to the locker room as El Gran Apollo has to be helped out of the ring. Larry Hamilton & Steve Pardee vs. Goldie Rogers & Timothy Flowers w/ 'Gentleman' Jim Holliday- Larry Hamilton starts the match for his team against Goldie Rogers and quickly gets Goldie Rogers down on the mat and dominates him there, using his AAU amateur wrestling skills to great advantage. Hamilton goes for a very fast victory as he gets Goldie Rogers in the Oklahoma Roll but Timothy Flowers rushes in and breaks the pin before the count of 3. Hamilton & Rogers both go their corners and tag out breaking in Steve Pardee against Timothy Flowers which turns into a brawl. Pardee gets the better of Flowers in the fight and then settles down and goes to work on Flowers' arm. Pardee makes a tag out to Hamilton while maintaining control of Flowers in an arm bar and Hamilton bounces off the ropes to drop an elbow down on Flowers' arm while it's in Pardee's arm bar but instead he gets tripped up by Jim Holliday on the outside of the ring. Hamilton goes out of the ring to chase after Holliday but winds up running into a big clothesline from Goldie Rogers. Rogers rolls him back into the ring and Flowers makes a cover but Hamilton kicks out at the count of 2. Flowers & Rogers keep Hamilton in their corner and work him over while Pardee gets the crowd to cheer Hamilton on. Rogers holds Hamilton while Flowers comes charging at him but Hamilton moves at the last second sending Rogers & Flowers crashing into each other! Hamilton quickly crawls to the corner to make a tag but Jim Holliday jumps up on the apron and causes the referee to miss the tag! Pardee comes rushing into the ring only to be held out by referee Carl Fergie! Pardee goes out of the ring and chases after Jim Holliday but while he does that, Goldie Rogers drops Hamilton with his Hollywood Blockbuster Neckbreaker and covers him for a 3 count before Pardee can get back in the ring to break up the pin. Winners: Goldie Rogers & Timothy Flowers in 8:19 after Goldie Rogers pinned Larry Hamilton after interference from Jim Holliday Handicap Match: Man Mountain Link vs. Snake Brown, Paul Peller & Jimmy Doo - This handicap match takes place without tag rules so all 3 men try to swarm Man Mountain Link at the sound of the bell but Link swats them all away like flies. Link whips them all into the corner in succession and then follows it up with a big running avalanche into the 3 of them piled up in the corner. Paul Peller and Jimmy Doo fall down onto the mat first but Link grabs Snake Brown who was the last man in the corner and scoops him up into the big Falling Powerslam! Link doesn't go for the pin though and instead hits the Falling Powerslam on Paul Peller and then Jimmy Doo and stacks up all 3 of his opponents in a pile and pins them all at once! Winner: Man Mountain Link in 1:32 Jim Duggan & Ron Starr vs. The Wild Bills (Bill Irwin and Billy Jack Haynes) - The match starts as a wild all out brawl that starts even before the bell rings. The two teams battle each other all around ringside for a long time before things finally settle down and get into the ring where Carl Fergie is finally able to ring the bell and start the match with Ron Starr against Bill Irwin. The action inside the ring isn't much different from what was taking place outside a Ron Starr and Bill Irwin engage each other in a straight up brawl. Starr gets the better of it and winds up backing Bill Irwin into the wrong corner where he gets met with a big right hand from Jim Duggan and turns around into another one from Ron Starr. Bill Irwin gets turned into a ping pong ball between the fists of Duggan & Starr until Billy Jack Haynes runs in to help his partner and all hell breaks loose again. All 4 men wind up in the ring brawling and Starr & Duggan get Irwin & Haynes off in opposite corners and then whip them into the center of the ring where they crash hard against each other. Haynes rolls out of the ring and Duggan follows out after him and continues hammering on him. Ron Starr hits Irwin with a knee lift as he's getting back up and then backs off of him and sets up for his big running knee lift finisher but as he comes charging in, Haynes manages to grab his foot from outside the ring and stop him. Duggan tossed Haynes into the guard rail and gets him off of Ron Starr but as Ron Starr turned to look at Haynes, Irwin was able to recover and attack Ron Starr from behind and throw him between the turnbuckles into the ring post. Irwin then focused his attack on Ron Starr's arm and shoulder and got him in the corner where he and Haynes took turns working over Ron Starr. They seemed intent on injuring Starr instead of pinning him as they relentlessly attacked the arm and never once went for a cover. After a long period of being worked over, Starr managed to counter Haynes' back body drop attempt with a knee lift and then tried to crawl and make a tag but Bill Irwin rushed in and cut him off. Starr wound up back in the wrong corner getting worked over again until after a few minutes Billy Jack Haynes had Ron Starr up in the air getting ready to hit a Shoulderbreaker on him when Starr managed to slip out behind him and make a diving tag to 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan! Duggan came in like a wild man and just floored Billy Jack Haynes with punches and then as Bill Irwin came charging at him, Duggan grabbed him and threw him out of the ring! Haynes attacked Duggan from behind as he was tossing Irwin out of the ring and then whipped Duggan into the ropes but Duggan ducked under a clothesline from Billy Jack and then came back with a huge Spear and pinned Billy Jack Haynes for the count of 3 to win the match! Winners: Jim Duggan & Ron Starr in 13:01 after Jim Duggan pinned Billy Jack Haynes following a Spear After the match The Wild Bills tried to attack the winners with their bull ropes but Duggan & Starr saw them coming and were able to fight them off before they could use their bull ropes and sent The Wild Bills back out of the ring. Duggan & Starr stood victorious in the ring and soaked in the crowd's cheers as they watched The Wild Bills run back to the locker room Southwest Television Title: Mike Masters w/ 'Gentleman' Jim Holliday vs. Roy Lee Welch - Masters dominated the early goings of the match using his strength to over power Roy Lee Welch, working over Roy's neck to soften him up for the Full Nelson. After a few minutes of being in control, Masters tried to lock in the Full Nelson but Roy Lee Welch was able to slip out of it and roll out of the ring. Masters charged out of the ring after him but Welch got back in the ring before Masters and caught him as he was coming back in under the ropes. Welch took control of the match and started working on Masters' leg to set him up for the Spinning Toe Hold. After working over Masters' leg for a bit Roy was able to lock in the Spinning Toe Hold but Masters was close enough to the ropes that he was able to get himself into the ropes for a break before having to submit. With the time limit running out Welch went for the Spinning Toe Hold again only to be kicked off into the corner. Masters scrambled back to his feet and Welch tried to tackle his legs out from under him but Masters side stepped him and got around behind him and this time was able to lock in the Full Nelson! Masters cranked down on the Full Nelson but very shortly after that the bell rang and the 10 minute time limit ran out! Result: Time limit draw in 10 minutes Southwest Team Titles: The Assassins vs. The Fabulous Ones - The match started with Assassin #1 against Steve Keirn but they barely did more than circle and lock up before Stan Lane suddenly ran in the ring with a one of the tag team titles and nailed The Assassin with it, causing a disqualification! Winners: The Assassins in 0:32 after The Fabulous Ones were disqualified Stan Lane swung the belt like a whip across Assassin #1's back and Assassin #2 tried to run in the ring and help his partner but instead he ended up getting hit with the title belt as well! Assassin #1 rolled out of the ring and Assassin #2 tried to follow but The Fabs grabbed Assassin #2 and started to take his mask off! The Fabs almost had the mask all the way off when The Assassin grabbed his partner from outside the ring and pulled him out but the mask stayed in the ring with The Fabs! Assassin #1 quickly covered up his partner's face and they rushed back to the locker room as The Fabulous Ones celebrated in the ring with the mask of Assassin #2! Southwest Heavyweight Title: Mr. Saito vs. David Von Erich - David comes out with his head bandaged due to the cut suffered in his earlier match and Saito goes right after it, trying to take off the bandage but David fights him off. David comes hard and fast at Saito in the early going, knowing that with the cut on his head the longer the match goes the more it favors Saito. David keeps the advantage in the early going and hits Saito with his high knee and goes for the pin but Saito kicks out before the 3. David tries for the Iron Claw but Saito fights it off and then slams David right in the throat with a hard karate chop and then starts pounding away on him. Saito rips off the bandage and re-opens the cut on David's forehead with chops. Saito keeps working on the cut but David starts fighting back and goes for the Iron Claw again, this time getting it on but Saito is too close to the ropes and is able to quickly get the hold broken. David tries to get Saito to come into the middle of the ring but Saito stays close to the ropes and lures David to him where Saito is able to grab hold of his arm and start working on it to try and neutralize David's Iron Claw. Saito works an arm bar on David and pulls him into the center of the ring away from the ropes. Saito starts to force David down onto the mat when suddenly David reaches out with his left hand and puts Saito in the Iron Claw! Saito tries to fight out of it but can't get out! Saito can't get to the ropes either as David keeps pulling him away from them! Saito starts to fade when suddenly Tully Blanchard runs down to the ring! Referee Jack Howe stops Tully from getting in the ring when suddenly Sunshine appears from out of the crowd on the opposite side of the ring! Sunshine gets in the ring and starts to swing her loaded purse at David, but David is alerted by the crowd and turns in time to block her swing! David grabs the purse away from Sunshine and throws it out of the ring but then Saito grabs him around the waist and drops him on his head with the Saito Suplex and goes for the cover! Tully sees David get hit with the Saito Suplex and drops off the apron as Sunshine also quickly scurries out of the ring! Jack Howe turns around, sees the pin and counts the 3, making Mr. Saito the new Southwest Heavyweight Champion! Winner and NEW Southwest Heavyweight Champion: Mr. Saito in 10:36 after a Saito Suplex following interference from Tully Blanchard and Sunshine! Tully extends his hand to Mr. Saito and wants Saito to join him in attacking David but Saito refuses and walks back to the locker room with the Southwest Title instead. Tully shouts at him that he is going to get that belt back soon and then Tully turns back to the bloody David Von Erich who is in the middle of the ring on his knees, struggling to get back to his feet. Tully kicks David in the head and knocks him back down and then gets on top of him and just starts beating the hell out of him! Tully yells at Sunshine to get him a steel chair and she slides him one in under the ropes. Tully picks up the chair and shouts at David to get back to his feet. David is able to get back up to one knee and Tully slams the chair down over his head. Tully shouts at David that he is going to end his career for good this time. Tully gets ready to hit David again when Carl Fergie and Jack Howe try to grab the chair away from him! Sunshine shoves Jack Howe away from Tully and Tully kicks Carl Fergie out of the ring and slams the chair down on David's head again! Tully gets ready for another swing when almost the whole locker room empties and rushes down to the ring! Tully gets off another chair shot on David before anyone can get to the ring to stop him and then Tully starts swinging wildly at anyone trying to get in the ring. Some of the wrestlers are able to pull David out of the ring under the ropes while Tully is busy swinging at people getting up on the apron and David is quickly carried back to the locker room as Tully stands in the ring with the chair swearing that he's not finished with David Von Erich!
  9. Looking forward to the battle between the guy the internet keeps claiming WWE is over valuing against the guy the internet keeps over valuing.
  10. Taped at The Junction in San Antonio, TX on 1/2 Southwest Championship Wrestling airing on Saturday 1/7 in local markets -Show intro- Steve Stack: Welcome to another edition of Southwest Championship Wrestling, the most exciting hour in all of professional wrestling! If you missed the action last Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena then you missed out on one of the best nights of action in the history of Southwest Championship Wrestling! We'll be talking about what took place there throughout the hour but there was one thing that happened Sunday night that is going to have a big impact on today's program and the upcoming card this week at the HemisFair Arena. David Von Erich and Mr. Saito were competing in a match to determine who would receive a Southwest Heavyweight Title match against Tully Blanchard on this week's card but that match was ruined when Tully ran down to the ring and attacked both men with a chair. Tully seemed to be quite pleased with himself last Sunday night as he thought that mean that neither man would be receiving a title shot against him but AWA President Stanley Blackburn has made a decision that I'm sure that Tully will NOT be pleased with. This Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena David Von Erich and Mr. Saito will BOTH be receiving a shot at the Southwest Heavyweight Title! In the opening match on the card Tully will defend the Southwest Title against David Von Erich and the winner of that match will then defend the title against Mr. Saito in the main event. In order to avoid a situation of the winner of the Tully/David match having to wrestle their 2nd match of the night against a fresh Mr. Saito, Saito will be wrestling in the second match on the card against El Gran Apollo, with El Gran Apollo receiving a Southwest Heavyweight Title match on the January 15th HemisFair Arena card if he is victorious over Mr. Saito. We'll be talking more about this situation throughout the other and hearing from all the participants in this unique situation but right now we've got to take a commercial break but don't go away because when we come back we'll be talking to the man at the center of all this controversy, the Southwest Heavyweight Champion himself, Tully Blanchard! -First commercial break- Sunshine: You just stand there and be quiet Steve Stack, I'll welcome everyone back to Southwest Championship Wrestling. Right now you are looking at the greatest wrestler to come out of Texas, the longest reigning Southwest Heavyweight Champion of all time, my man, The Texas Dynasty himself: Tully Blanchard! Tully Blanchard: And the lady who just gave that great introduction is of course the lovely Sunshine, the most beautiful woman in the state and if anyone around here had any sense she'd be the new host of this show. Steve Stack: Thank you for trying to give my job away Tully, I appreciate that. Now I'd like to ask you about the unique situation you find yourself in this Sunday night as there are two Southwest Heavyweight Title defenses schedule meaning that if you are victorious in your first title defense you will have to defend it again later on in the evening. Tully Blanchard: Unique situation! That's what you call it Steve Stack!? I call it a conspiracy! Everyone around here is sick with jealousy, sick about the fact that not only do I have the most beautiful woman in Texas at my side but that I am also the longest reigning Southwest Heavyweight Champion in history, that now they've concocted this grand conspiracy to screw me out of my title. But it's still not going to happen! I've beaten Mr. Saito before already and everyone knows just how badly I've beaten David Von Erich so why should things be any different just because I have to beat them both in the same night? Steve Stack: I have to say I'm a little surprised Tully, I expected you to come out here and rant and rave and try to get out of the situation but you appear to be confident in your abilities to retain the title even under these circumstances. Tully Blanchard: And why shouldn't I be confident Steve Stack? I've held this title for over 6 months now, I've beaten everyone that has tried to take it away from me. Rick McGraw, Eric Embry, Scott Casey, Bob Sweetan, I ran all the old guard out of Southwest and now some of them can't even wrestle anymore! And then I beat everyone who came in after them El Gran Apollo, Ken Lucas, Eddie Gilbert, Jim Duggan, all of them have tried and failed to take this title from me! I even beat back the challenge of the 'great' Mil Mascaras! And then my star was shining so bright that even the men who were supposed to be my friends like David Von Erich and Mr. Saito tried to come for my title but they've failed too, and they will fail again this Sunday night! Steve Stack you and everyone else need to realize that I am not just the greatest champion that Southwest has ever known, I am the Texas Dynasty. The old saying goes 'Diamonds are forever' but it should say 'Dynasties are forever' and so is Tully Blanchard! Tully and Sunshine leave the interview area Steve Stack: Well whether you agree with what Tully just had to say or not, one thing is true about Tully is that he can always find a way to surprise you. Now my next guest out here is a man who is also involved in the unique situation taking place this Sunday night, although he will not be getting a direct title shot, he is one of the hottest young stars in professional wrestling, the man who defeated Jose Lothario last Sunday night in a Texas Death Match, El Gran Apollo! El Gran Apollo comes out to the interview area Steve Stack: First of all, let me congratulate you on your big win last Sunday night over Jose Lothario, a victory which I think is fair to say is the biggest one of your career so far. El Gran Apollo: Yes Steve Stack, thank you. I think was the big win of my career Sunday night but I hope soon have one even bigger. Now that I finally finish my long fight with Jose I want to give back the people something for all they did for me. They support me in all the hard times against Jose and now I want to do something to make them even more proud for me. This Sunday I fight Mr. Saito and if win I get another match for Southwest Title. I want to be the champion for my people, to show them that our people can do anything here in America. I want to be the Southwest Champion for all the Spanish speaking people here in Texas and I hope this Sunday they support me in my match with Saito so I can win title shot for next week. Steve Stack: I'm sure they will be there to support El Gran Apollo, just like they were there last week to support him in that Texas Death Match against Jose Lothario. And now we're going to get a look at Apollo in action right here on TV as he's scheduled in our first match of the day against Snake Brown so let's head down to ringside where Apollo is just stepping into the ring now. Steve Stack: An impressive victory for El Gran Apollo who was caught off guard at the opening of the match but quickly turned things around! This young man is rising high in the world of professional wrestling but he has a very formidable opponent in front of him this Sunday night in the form of Mr. Saito! We've got to take another time out for our sponsors but don't go away because when we come back we're going to be talking to El Gran Apollo's opponent this Sunday night, who will also be receiving a Southwest Title match against the winner of the David Von Erich/Tully Blanchard, the man from Japan Mr. Saito! -Second commercial break- Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling and with me now is the main who will compete in the main event at the HemisFair Arena this Sunday night against the Southwest Heavyweight Champion, Mr. Saito! This is a rather unique situation that you find yourself in, knowing that you will have title match but not knowing who the champion will be, what are your thoughts? Mr. Saito: I don't worry about who is the champion when I start my match because I know at the end Mr. Saito will be champion. I don't care if I fight Tully Blanchard or David Von Erich they are both weak Americans and stupid Texans who can not beat Mr. Saito. They know I am more stronger than them, why else do you think they asked for my help when they were tag champions together? Steve Stack: Before you get to your Southwest Title match you have to compete against El Gran Apollo. We know your familiar with David Von Erich and Tully Blanchard, you've been in the ring with both of them but this is the first time you'll be competing against El Gran Apollo, what are your thoughts about that match? Mr Saito: I think will be a nice warm up for Mr. Saito before real competition. I'm no old man like Jose Lothario, I don't need to worry about young kid like Apollo. Maybe Saito make a man out of him after I give him the beating old man Jose never could. I don't need to wrestle him, I can walk away from match and I don't lose nothing. But I will beat him anyway because I don't want anyone to say Mr. Saito is a coward. I will prove wrestlers from Japan better than all other wrestlers when I win two matches in one night and leave Southwest Champion. Mr. Saito leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Well fans let me now bring in two men who will also be receiving title shots this Sunday night at The HemisFair Arena, the former Southwest Tag Team Champions: The Assassins! Steve Stack: Last week at The HemisFair Arena you didn't even attempt to win the titles as your only goal seemed to be to try and injure Stan Lane. Stanley Blackburn wasn't going to give you an immediate rematch for the belts due to the way you seemed to disregard your last one but The Fabulous Ones insisted that they wrestle you again this Sunday night. Do you plan to actually attempt to take back the Southwest Tag Team Titles this Sunday or are you just planning another attack on The Fabs? The Assassin: If we were just planning another attack do you think I would really just come out here and tell you? Even you can't be that stupid Steve Stack. Whatever my plans are, they are my own and you'll have to wait and see what they are just like The Fabulous Ones will have to do and just like all these fans will have to do. Last week The Fabulous Ones were out here declaring war on The Assassins so I thought I would just give them a taste of what war against us is really like. The Fabulous Ones left the ring Sunday night as the victors in the match, they left as the Southwest Tag Team Champions but did they really leave the ring as winners? In warfare there is what's known as a Pyrrhic victory, when the victor of a battle suffers such heavy punishment that their victory in the battle is really a detriment to their war efforts. And that's what last Sunday night was, last Sunday night was a hollow victory for Stan Lane and Steve Keirn because we left the arena at 100% while Stan Lane was bleeding and battered. We did that just as a message to The Fabulous Ones, to let them know at any time we wish we can and will hurt them. Perhaps our lesson has made them reconsider whether they really want a war with The Assassins after all. But it won't matter. There is no way to call off a war with us once it is underway, the only way that war against The Assassins ends is with pain, agony and destruction. Will it end this Sunday night? Will this Sunday be the night that we break the arm of Stan Lane, break the leg of Steve Keirn, break the necks of both Fabulous Ones? Maybe so, maybe not. But one thing is for certain, that is their future now. It's only a matter of time before The Fabulous Ones are on borrowed time. Fabulous Ones, you wanted war and now you've got it. Until the end of your days. The Assassins leave the interview area Steve Stack: Well we're almost out of time in this segment but before we go to a break we've got one more title challenger to talk to, this time the man who will be facing off against the Southwest Television Champion this Sunday night, the former champion: Mike Masters! Mike Masters and 'Gentleman' Jim Holliday come into the interview area Steve Stack: Mike I didn't mention who you would be facing because right here on today's television main event Roy Lee Welch will be defending the TV Title against a very formidable challenger in the form of 'Rugged' Ron Starr. Do you have a prediction on who you think will win the match and do you have a preference of which of those men you'd like to face? Holliday: Don't try to goad my client into saying whether he'd rather face Roy Lee Welch or Ron Starr! I'm sure you'd try and twist his words to say he was afraid of whoever he didn't name but the fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter who wins the title match today, they will only be losing that title to my client Mike Masters this Sunday night. Steve Stack: Well obviously there is some history with Roy Lee Welch as he's the man your client both won the title from in the first place and lost it to two weeks ago, I thought maybe he'd prefer to regain it from Roy. Holliday: Obviously Mike Masters would like to beat Roy Lee Welch and erase Roy's fluke victory from the record books but if Ron Starr is his opponent this Sunday night then he'll defeat him as well. And before you cut me off and go to commercial break I have one more thing I'd like to say. I have two other clients who deserve recognition around here and with The Assassins just wasting their title matches, my Dream Team of 'Diamond' Timothy Flowers and Goldie Rogers should have received the title match this week at The HemisFair Arena and instead they aren't even on the card! I will have Stanley Blackburn know what when Mike Masters wins back the Southwest Television Title this Sunday night he is going to take that title and leave with it unless the Dream Team gets the proper respect that they deserve! Everyone in my Gentleman's Club deserves to have gold around their waist but that can't happen unless they get the opportunity! Steve Stack: Well I don't have any power on the matches that Timothy Flowers and Goldie Rogers do or do not get booked in and I also don't have any more time to discuss it because we've got to take a commercial break! Don't go away we'll be right back with more Southwest Championship Wrestling! Jim Holliday: Don't you cut me off I'm not finished yet and - -Third commercial break- Steve Stack: I've been informed that Sheik Adnan has paid for another video to be shown during the commercial break and I'm aware that he has sent in two men to face Jim Duggan and Ron Starr in tag team competition this Sunday night so let me go ahead and bring them out here now, the two men who were responsible for breaking the arm of Sheik Adnan here on television last week: 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan and 'Rugged' Ron Starr! Jim Duggan: We heard what Geek Adnan had to say and we're just shaking in our boots...NOT! Geek Adnan has already sent some of the biggest and the baddest men in professional wrestling here to try and hurt me and he hasn't been able to get the job done yet so what should be different this time? He's done run out of good help so now he's too embarrassed to even say who he is sending after us! Steve Stack: Well since we don't know who your opponents are going to be Sunday night I can't very well ask you any questions about them, so let me ask Ron Starr about the money that Sheik Adnan offered him. Ron Starr: Sheik Adnan called me last week and told me about his little plan to get his suspension lifted for one day so he could be here in person to see Jim Duggan get injured and he offered me $5,000 to be the one to do the job. Now, sure I could have refused his offer but then I knew he'd find someone else who would take his money so I lied to him and told him I'd do it and take his money after the job was done. And everyone saw just how that worked out for him last week. For Sheik Adnan to think that my integrity and my honor was for sale for the measly sum of $5,000 was a complete insult to me. Jim Duggan and I are friends and I wouldn't sell out my friends for any amount of money and certainly not for a 4 figure sum. If that means I'm going to be a hunted man then so be it, I'm always ready to fight whether it's in a wrestling ring, a parking lot, an airport it doesn't matter to me. Sheik Adnan is going to find out that just like Jim Duggan, I'm a hard man to get even with. Steve Stack: Well Ron I know you've got a lot on your mind with Sheik Adnan but you've also got a Southwest Television Title shot right here in the main event on television today. Do you feel like you're able to focus on your match with Roy Lee Welch with all the other things going on with you right now? Ron Starr: Of course I'm ready Steve Stack. As a professional wrestler you always have to be ready to face anyone on the roster no matter what. I was out here a couple of weeks ago saying that I want a TV Title match and now I've got it. When that bell rings today I'm going to be 100% focused on Roy Lee Welch and whoever Sheik Adnan has in store for me will just have to wait until Sunday. Jim Duggan: Before we go, Geek Adnan you said that Ron Starr is going to have to watch his back wherever he goes well brother he won't have to because the Hacksaw is going to do it for him. From now on Ron Starr and I are going to be traveling everywhere together so there won't be any chances of you catching one of us off our guard. We're ready for whatever you can send at us! Jim Duggan and Ron Starr leave the interview area together Steve Stack: Well fans you can see them in action together this Sunday night at The HemisFair Arena and I don't know who they are going to be facing but the last tag team that Sheik Adnan sent in here after Jim Duggan was The Zambuie Express so I think it's safe to say whatever team is coming they are going to be big and bad. And speaking of tag team action let's go down to the ring now where we have the team of Mike Jackson and Tony Torres standing by getting ready to take on a team that's been very successful since coming to the Southwest area, Pat Rose and Ron Sexton! Steve Stack: Pat Rose & Ron Sexton continue their winning streak and you have to imagine they are in line for a Southwest Tag Team Title shot in the very near future! And speaking of the Southwest Tag Team Titles we are going to be talking to the champions themselves, The Fabulous Ones when we come back from this commercial break so don't go away we'll be right back! -Fourth Commercial Break- Steve Stack: Welcome back to Southwest Championship Wrestling, standing with me now is the hottest tag team in professional wrestling and the Southwest Tag Team Champions, Stan Lane and Steve Keirn: The Fabulous Ones! Gentlemen I'm sure you heard what The Assassins said out here earlier, what is your response to their comments? Stan Lane: I think they are really over estimating what they "accomplished" last Sunday night. All they did was bust me open with my own tag team belt and now they're out here claiming it's some great Pyrrhic victory? Well I've bled before and I'm sure I'm going to bleed a whole lot more in my career so I don't see that as anything to come out here and brag about! Steve Keirn: The Assassins don't scare us, they can talk about how they are going to injure us and put us out of wrestling but it's one thing to say it and it's another thing to actually do it. They've already given us their best shot, they had Assassin #2 hiding here under The Canadian mask for months setting up their little plan and all it did was put me on the shelf for a month. We don't come out here and brag about how we can hurt people but that doesn't mean we can't actually do it. The Assassins want to make this about more than winning and losing, more than these belts, then that's fine. Because The Fabulous Ones can hurt people too and The Assassins just might find that out this Sunday night! The Fabulous Ones leave the interview area Steve Stack: Well with both teams seemingly promising to seriously injure the other this Sunday night I have a feeling the tag team title match between The Assassins and The Fabulous Ones is going to get out of hand. But right now I'm going to bring in another man who is involved in a title match this Sunday night, the man who will be challenging Tully Blanchard for the Southwest Title in the opening match of the card: The Yellow Rose of Texas, David Von Erich! David Von Erich comes out to the interview area Steve Stack: David you're in a unique situation this Sunday night as even if you defeat Tully Blanchard for the Southwest Title, you'll have to defend it again the same night against Mr. Saito. What are your thoughts about possibly having to wrestle twice on Sunday night? David Von Erich: Well first of all there is no possibility to it, I will be wrestling twice because I am going to take the Southwest Title away from Tully Blanchard. Tully, this thing between us is about a whole lot more than just that belt around your waist but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy taking it away from you. But make no mistake, when I beat you for that title it's not going to be over between us. You betrayed me, you put me in the hospital, you insulted my family and you made a fool out of me with Sunshine. Beating you for a title isn't going to square all that away but it's a start. Steve Stack: What do you think it will take to end this issue between you and Tully Blanchard? David Von Erich: You know Steve Stack, Texas is a big state but I don't think it's big enough for me and Tully both. I don't see this thing between me and Tully ending until I run him clear out of Texas. Steve Stack: Well we've talked about Tully but I don't want to overlook Mr. Saito, a man you will have to wrestle again Sunday night if you're victorious against Tully Blanchard. David Von Erich: I'm not overlooking Mr. Saito, I've wrestled him twice now and I know just how tough he is. And he might just be as smart as he is tough because every time I wrestle him he goes after my right hand and my right arm and tries to take away my ability to use the Iron Claw. But he's going to have to find a way to take away both of my arms because all week I've been training how to use my LEFT hand to put on the Iron Claw and my grip might not be as strong with my left hand as it is with my right, but I still think it's going to be strong enough that if I get that Iron Claw locked in on him, even with my left hand, he won't be able to break out of it. I'm ready for Mr. Saito and at the end of the night I WILL be leaving the HemisFair Arena as the Southwest Heavyweight Champion, you can count on that Steve Stack! David Von Erich leaves the interview area and Ken Lucas comes in Steve Stack: Now I'd like to welcome in a man that asked for some time on today's program to respond to the video sent in last week by Eddie Gilbert. Ken Lucas it's good to see you back on the program and I hope you've decided against retiring which I know you mentioned was weighing heavily on your mind the last time you were here on Southwest Championship Wrestling. Ken Lucas: Steve Stack I have thought a great deal about retiring since I was last here on the program but something that happened last week has also been weighing heavily on my mind. I saw that video that Eddie Gilbert sent in where he said he was quitting wrestling out of remorse for what he did to Ricky Morton and I just can't let that happen. I put so much into mentoring both Ricky Morton and Eddie Gilbert that I just can't imagine both of their careers being over so soon. I still don't understand why Eddie did what he did to Ricky Morton but retiring isn't going to change that fact. I want Eddie to know that I forgive him for what he did to Ricky and I need him to forgive himself. Please Eddie don't retire, you can't make up for what you did by walking away. The only way you can make up for what happened is by redeeming yourself, by showing everyone that in this life everyone should get a second chance, that even though you messed up, you have to forgive yourself, improve and do better. Now I know that ending Ricky Morton's career is something you're gonna have to live with for the rest of your life but running away from wrestling isn't going to make that memory go away. Eddie, I want you to come here to The Junction next week so I can talk to you man to man. I want to do it in front of these people because I want you to see that the fans have it in their hearts to forgive you too. Please Eddie, just come here next week and talk to me and if you still want to retire after that then I won't ever say another word about it. Ken Lucas leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Fans I don't really know what I can say about that except that I hope we'll see Eddie Gilbert here in person next week to answer Ken Lucas' plea. Right now we've got to take our last commercial break of the program and when we come back we're going to head straight to the ring for our big time television main event of Ron Starr challenging Roy Lee Welch for the Southwest TV Title so don't touch that dial! -Fifth and final commercial break- The Wild Bills throw Roy Lee Welch over the top rope to the floor and then begin wailing away on Ron Starr with the cowbell on their bull ropes! Steve Stack: That's the former AWA World Tag Team Champions, The Wild Bills! We've seen them here before! That must be the team that Sheik Adnan al-Kaissie has hired to face Jim Duggan & Ron Starr this Sunday night! Jim Duggan runs down to the ring to try and help Ron Starr but The Wild Bills see him coming and cut him off as he's sliding into the ring. The Wild Bills continue their brutal assault on Jim Duggan and Ron Starr until The Fabulous Ones, El Gran Apollo, Steve Pardee & Larry Hamilton run down to the ring and chase them off! Steve Stack: Fans I apologize for the way this show has ended, The Wild Bills have just robbed us all of what should have been a great Television Title match! We're out of time on today's program but make sure to buy your tickets for this Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena as you'll see two Southwest Heavyweight Title matches as Tully Blanchard defends the title against David Von Erich and then the winner of the match faces Mr. Saito, The Fabulous Ones defend the Southwest Tag Team Titles against The Assassins, Jim Duggan & Ron Starr will look to get revenge against The Wild Bills for their attack here on TV today and much more! With WWE's injury issues, especially concerning the head and neck areas, the fact that someone didn't force Big E to stop doing that crazy dive MONTHS ago is baffling. Reading what people are saying about the one tonight and that's at least the 3rd time on a major show where he did that move and landed horribly.
  12. Southwest Championship Wrestling @ San Antonio, TX - The HemisFair Arena 1/1/84 El Bracero vs. Mike Masters w/Jim Holliday - El Bracero had Mike Masters completely flustered and off balance at the start of the match with his unorthodox style of acrobatics and rolling around the ring. Bracero kept goading Masters into charging at him and then avoiding him, essentially turning himself into a Matador and Mike Masters into a raging bull. Eventually Mike Masters was able to get his hands on El Bracero after Jim Holliday grabbed Bracero's foot and kept him from getting out of the corner as Mike Masters charged in at him. Masters then took out his earlier frustrations on El Bracero and beat on him for a few minutes before attempting his Full Nelson but El Bracero was able to drop down and counter it into a roll up the same way Roy Lee Welch did the week before to defeat Masters for the Southwest TV Title. This time Masters was able to kick out at the count of two however and then very shortly afterwards was able to catch El Bracero in the Full Nelson and force him to submit. Winner: Mike Masters in 8:32 by submission with the Full Nelson Larry Hamilton & Steve Pardee vs. Ron Sexton & Pat Rose - Hamilton and Pardee started the match fired up as they looked to avenge their previous losses to Rose & Sexton but Sexton & Rose did all they could to stall and avoid contact in the early going to try to take the wind out of the sails of Hamilton & Pardee. Finally they were able to use Pardee's over aggression to lure him into their corner where they were able to use a 2 on 1 advantage to take control of the match. Rose & Sexton worked over Pardee in their corner, keeping him in holds and making sure he was unable to get anywhere close to making a tag to his partner Larry Hamilton. Pardee was almost able to escape and make a tag after a missed elbow drop by Pat Rose but Ron Sexton was able to rush in and cut him off before he got all the way to the corner. Pardee was then worked over some more but Rose & Sexton were unable to keep his shoulders on the mat for a count of 3 and eventually Sexton's frustration at Pardee's kickouts worked against him as Pardee was able to make a diving tag to Hamilton as Sexton argued with referee Carl Fergie about slow counts. Hamilton came in fired up and quickly took control of Ron Sexton and after dominating him on the mat for a bit he caught him in the Oklahoma Roll but Pat Rose ran in and broke the pin before Carl Fergie could make the count of 3. Rose and Sexton both attacked Hamilton which brought Steve Pardee in to aid his partner and things quickly broke down into all four men fighting in the ring. Carl Fergie desperately tried to regain order as Pat Rose tied up Larry Hamilton's arms in the ropes. During the chaos Steve Pardee hit the Bulldog on Ron Sexton and tried to cover him but Carl Fergie was still trying to untie Hamilton and didn't see the cover, allowing Pat Rose to come off the top rope with an elbow drop to the back of Pardee's head. Rose then rolled Sexton out of the ring and covered Steve Pardee and got the referee's attention who turned around and made the count despite neither Pardee nor Pat Rose being the legal man. Result: Pat Rose & Ron Sexton in 11:47 after Pat Rose pinned Steve Pardee despite neither of them being the legal man Spike on a Pole Match: 'Rugged' Ron Starr vs. The Cuban Assassin - Referee Jack Howe checked The Cuban Assassin before the match and pulled a Spike out of his pants pocket and took it away from him. As The Cuban Assassin argued with Howe and tried to take it back from him, Ron Starr jumped him from behind and started beating the hell out of him. Starr slammed The Cuban Assassin down on the mat and then started trying to climb the 10 foot pole but just as he was about to retrieve the Spike, the big Cuban was able to get up and pull him down off the pole causing Starr to drop down hard off the pole and onto the mat. The Cuban Assassin then started beating on Ron Starr and then put him in a nerve hold. After sensing that Starr was incapacitated, The Cuban Assassin let go of the nerve hold and tried to climb the pole but was having a lot of difficulty getting to the top. Finally just as he had finally struggled to the top, Ron Starr recovered and grabbed his foot and pulled him back down. Both men started fighting while standing on the top turnbuckle, with one hand holding the pole for balance and using their other hand for punching. They eventually both landed big hay makers at the same time and fell together back down into the ring. The crowd chanted for Ron Starr to get up first but he and The Cuban Assassin both struggled back to their feet at the same time and started trading punches again. Starr had The Cuban Assassin reeling and about to fall when The Cuban Assassin raked Starr's eyes and then chopped him in the throat. The Cuban Assassin then started choking Starr over the top rope and then picked him up and dropped him throat first across the top rope. The Cuban Assassin then started to try and climb the pole once more, this time actually getting to the top of the pole and retrieving the Spike! The Cuban Assassin quickly slid back down the pole and raised the Spike above his head with both hands getting ready to drive it down into the rising Ron Starr's head but Starr reached up and blocked it! Ron Starr and The Cuban Assassin struggled over the Spike until Ron Starr started headbutting The Cuban Assassin who lost his grip and Ron Starr gained control of the Spike! Starr tried to stab The Cuban Assassin with it but the big Cuban was able to cut him off with a big kick to the stomach, causing Starr to drop the Spike onto the mat. The Cuban Assassin bent down to get it but Starr stomped on his hands and then blasted The Cuban Assassin with a big knee lift while the Cuban was bent over trying to pick up the Spike! Ron Starr then climbed up to the top rope and as The Cuban Assassin groggily stumbled back up to his feet Starr came over the top rope with the Spike and drove it down into the head of The Cuban Assassin! The Cuban Assassin crumpled to the mat and Ron Starr covered him for the count of 3! . Winner: Ron Starr in 12:19 after coming off the top rope and driving the Spike into The Cuban Assassin's head! Ron Starr held the Spike up to cheers from the crowd as The Cuban Assassin stayed down on the mat which quickly started to turn red around him from the blood pouring out of his forehead Winner Receives a Southwest Heavyweight Title Match: Mr. Saito vs. David Von Erich - Despite both men's animosity toward each other and their strong desire to get a Southwest Title match, this match started out slow as both men were cautious and wary of making a mistake in the early going. There was a long feeling out process with both men trying to get a hold on the other without much success. Things finally started to pick up as Saito got a headlock on David but was shoved off into the ropes and was then hit with David's patented high knee which dropped Saito to the mat. David scrambled on top of him and secured an abdominal claw but Saito was able to quickly get to the ropes to break that hold. Saito chopped David in the throat while the referee was getting him to break the abdominal claw and Saito then focused in on David's right hand and arm, trying to neutralize the famous Von Erich claw. After a few minutes of Saito working over David's arm, David was able to turn the tides when Saito missed a knee drop attempt to David's outstretched arm and David then went to work on Saito's legs, trying to take away his power base for the devastating Saito suplex. David eventually got Saito in a Boston Crab in the middle of the ropes and Saito had to make a long slow effort to drag himself to the ropes to break the hold. David backed off of Saito and then came charging at him for a high knee as Saito slowly got back to his feet but the momentum of the collision sent both men flying over the top rope. As the referee started a 10 count both men slowly got back to their feet when suddenly Tully Blanchard came running down to ringside with a chair and attacked both men! Referee Jack Howe had no choice but to call for the bell as Tully commenced a brutal assault on Mr. Saito and David Von Erich with a steel chair! Result: No contest in 15:24 after Tully Blanchard ran out and attacked both men with a chair Tully eventually left both men laid out at ringside after just brutalizing them with chair shots and walked back to the locker room bragging about how neither men would receive a title shot Battle of the Hacksaws: Jim Duggan vs. Butch Reed - As soon as the bell rang both men charged at each other and started exchanging punches! They brawled for a short while with Jim Duggan getting the better of the fight which sent Butch Reed retreating to the outside of the ring where he started to complain to the referee about Jim Duggan's closed fists. Butch Reed got back in the ring and hit a cheap shot on Duggan as referee Carl Fergie was busy trying to get Duggan to open up his closed fists which kicked off another brawl between the two Hacksaws. Duggan eventually got the better of this fight as well and Reed then retreated again and demanded that Duggan be disqualified to punching. Butch Reed shouted that it's supposed to be a wrestling match not boxing so Duggan offered to let Butch Reed have a free headlock. Reed looked wary but Duggan bent over and put his hands behind his back to let Reed grab the headlock so Reed grabbed hold of the headlock and quickly started to mock Duggan for being stupid. This didn't last long as Duggan quickly shoved Reed off of him and into the ropes where Reed came back and collided with Duggan with neither man budging much. This led to the two men jawing at each other about their football days and how they could tackle the other. Butch Reed bounced off the ropes again and charged into Duggan with a shoulder block but was unable to really budge him. Reed challenged Duggan to do the same which led to pretty much the same result as Duggan's shoulder block didn't move Butch Reed. This led to repeated tries from both men until Butch Reed goaded Duggan into another shoulder block but this time met him coming in with a big clothesline that took Duggan down to the mat and then Butch Reed quickly followed up with a chin lock before Duggan could get back up. Butch Reed mocked Duggan for being stupid enough to fall into his trap as he maintained the chin lock. The fans cheered Duggan back to his feet and he was about to break out of the chin lock when Butch Reed pulled him back down by the hair. Reed argued with the referee about whether or not he pulled Duggan's hair with Butch protesting his innocence. Duggan again started to make his way back up but this time Reed yanked him back down by pulling on Duggan's trunks. Reed continued to argue his innocence to Carl Fergie as the fans tried to tell the referee about Reed using the trunks. Finally Duggan was able to break out of the long chin lock and shoved him into the ropes but as Reed came charging back, the heads of the Hacksaws collided and they both went down. Butch Reed got up first and climbed to the top rope and as Duggan stumbled back up to his feet, Reed came off with a Diving Shoulder Block but Duggan was able to dodge out of the way just in time as Reed crashed hard on the mat. Duggan then set himself down in the 3 point stance and as Reed got back up Duggan came charging in with a Spear and then pinned Butch Reed to win the match! Winner: Jim Duggan in 10:37 with a Spear Southwest Tag Team Titles: The Assassins vs. The Fabulous Ones - Assassin #1 and Stan Lane started the match against each other but almost as soon as the bell rang, Assassin #2 ran into the ring and attacked Lane. This brought in Steve Keirn and then all 4 men were fighting in the ring. As referee Jack Howe tried to restore order, Assassin #1 left the ring and grabbed one of the Southwest Tag Team Titles and came charging back in the ring and nailed Stan Lane with it, causing a disqualification. Result: The Fabulous Ones in 0:45 after The Assassins were disqualified Steve Keirn tried to grab the belt away from Assassin #1 but got jumped from behind by Assassin #2 and thrown over the top rope. Stan Lane tried to get back to his feet only to get hit in the head again with the Tag Title belt and busted open. The Assassins both took turns dropping elbows on Stan Lane until Steve Keirn recovered outside the ring and grabbed the other Tag Title belt at ringside and came charging into the ring with it, swinging it wildly around his head which sent The Assassins scrambling out of the ring. The Assassins went back to the locker room as Steve Keirn helped a bloody Stan Lane back to his feet. Texas Death Match: El Gran Apollo vs. Jose Lothario - Jose attacked Apollo the moment he stepped through the ropes and just started beating the hell out of him. Jose threw Apollo out of the ring and whipped him into the wooden ring steps. Jose stayed on top of Apollo just hammering him with punches and kicks before body slamming him on the concrete floor and covering him for a 3 count. Jose shouted at referee Carl Fergie to count faster as he started the 10 count but Apollo was back to his feet before the ref even got to the count of 2. Jose knocked Apollo back down with a clothesline and continued his assault. Jose tried to whip Apollo into the guard rail but Apollo reversed it and Jose went crashing into the steel rail instead. Apollo took a moment to regain his bearings and then tried to follow up on his momentary advantage but Jose raked Apollo's eyes as Apollo got close to him and Jose took back over on Apollo, slamming the young Cuban superstar's head into the guard rail, busting him open. Jose then started to work the cut, biting and punching at it. Jose slammed Apollo's head off the ring apron and then rolled him back in the ring and followed him inside where he dropped down on him with a big fist drop and covered him and got another pin fall. Apollo was still far from beaten however as he got back to his feet at the count of 4 after Carl Fergie started the 10 count. Jose tried to nail Apollo with a big uppercut as he got back to his feet but Apollo ducked under it and came back with a big punch of his own to Jose's midsection. Apollo started peppering his former mentor with jabs and then dropped Jose with a big uppercut of his own. Apollo hit a big dropkick on Jose as he got back to his feet and sent him back down to the canvas. Apollo then quickly climbed up to the top turnbuckle and set himself up for the Flying Crossbody but as Jose was getting back to his feet he was fumbling in his tights for something and as Apollo came off the top rope, Jose threw powder in his eyes! Apollo was still able to connect with the Flying Crossbody however and pinned Jose to secure a pin fall! As Carl Fergie started a 10 count on Jose, Apollo desperately rubbed at his eyes while stumbling around the ring. Jose made it back to his feet at the count of 6 and seeing Apollo still suffering from the effects of powder to his eyes, Jose followed up with a big uppercut that Apollo never saw coming. Apollo went limp and fell out through the ropes, landing hard on the concrete floor. Jose followed him out and covered him for another pinfall but Apollo was once again able to beat the 10 count, getting back to his feet at the count of 10. Jose circled around his opponent, hitting him with jabs to the body and head as Apollo stumbled and tried to clear his vision, still suffering from the powder thrown by Jose along with having his own blood running down into his eyes as well. Jose caught Apollo flush on the chin with a big uppercut that just totally crumpled Apollo and made another cover for his 4th pinfall of the match. Apollo again was able to beat the 10 count though as he got back to his feet at the count of 8. Jose started to seem frustrated at his inability to put Apollo away and came in with a wild haymaker as Apollo was using the guard rail to hold himself up but Apollo ducked under it and then back body dropped Jose over the guardrail into the crowd! Apollo grabbed Jose as he was getting back up and suplexed him back over the railing to the ringside area with Jose crashing hard on the concrete floor. Apollo was took weak to cover Jose though and both men stayed down on the concrete floor for a good while before starting to make their way back to a standing position at the same time. Jose started going into his tights again and came out with brass knuckles! He swung at Apollo with another wild haymaker but Apollo again ducked under it and Jose struck the steel ring post instead! Jose dropped the brass knuckles off his hand and screamed in pain as his hand was likely broken! Apollo saw the brass knuckles down on the arena floor and picked them up and put them on! As Jose slowly turned around, holding onto his injured hand Apollo uncorked a massive uppercut with the brass knuckles that just about took Jose's head off! Jose fell to the arena floor like a sack of bricks and Apollo covered him for a pinfall! Carl Fergie started the 10 count and Jose remained completely motionless on the floor of the HemisFair Arena as Carl Fergie finished the 10 count and declared El Gran Apollo the winner of the Texas Death match! Winner: El Gran Apollo in 13:50 after knocking out Jose Lothario with his own brass knuckles

Unfortunately Roy Lee Welch won't be on the program today as he's on his way to Alabama to face the AWA National Champion Tommy Rich, who also won his title on Christmas night. I know Roy Lee Welch has to be disappointed that he won't be facing his cousin Robert Fuller for that title but I'm sure he's still eager to try and come back here to the Southwest area with more gold around his waist. In other news from last Sunday night, 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan was victorious in the Mongolian Stretcher Match after breaking Killer Khan's leg, Tully Blanchard retained the Southwest Heavyweight Title against Mr. Saito with the help of a chain and the big showdown between El Gran Apollo & Jose Lothario turned out to just another chance for Jose Lothario to avoid having a real match against his young adversary from Cuba. We'll be talking more about the fallout from Jose's actions Sunday night later in the hour but right now I have a big announcement to make and that is on today's program, live and in person, I will be talking to none other than Sheik Adnan al-Kaissie! We all know he was banned from Texas after a match with Jim Duggan but Sheik Adnan paid a very large sum of money to local charities as a way to get AWA President Stanley Blackburn to lift that ban for 1 day only and he claims he is here to make a peace offering to Jim Duggan! And speaking of the 'Hacksaw' here is he now to talk about Sheik Adnan being here today and a big match he has this Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena! Jim Duggan: I don't know what kind of trick Sheik Adnan has up his sleeve but just because I don't look like the smartest guy in the world doesn't mean I'm a dummy! I know he isn't here to make any kind of peace offering to me but I don't want to talk about that right now. I'm not worried about Sheik Adnan, I've taken everything he can throw at me, what's left? I've beat Bruiser Brody, I've beat The Zambuie Express, I sent Sgt. Slaughter back to Puerto Rico, I broke Killer Khan's leg after all of that who is there left that he can really throw at me? There's only one thing that I have left to clean up from my past with Sheik Adnan and I have the chance to do that this Sunday night! I've been asking Stanley Blackburn to get me a match with the fake 'Hacksaw" Butch Reed ever since he he took Adnan's money to turn on me I finally got it! This Sunday night it's going to be a battle of the Hacksaws and I'm going to prove there is only one REAL Hacksaw in professional wrestling and that's who you're looking at! Geek Adnan I know you're in the building somewhere plotting something for later today but let me just warn you I'm not in the mood to play any games with you and I might just break your leg the way I did Killer Khan's and send you to the hospital to keep him company! Hoooo! Jim Duggan leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Wow! What an announcement from Jim Duggan, we're finally going to see the battle of the Hacksaws that I know fans have been wanting to see here for months ever since Butch Reed turned his back on Jim Duggan for a briefcase full of Sheik Adnan's money! We've got to take our first commercial break of the program but don't go anywhere we've got so much more to come on this hour, including a big announcement about the rematch between El Gran Apollo and Jose Lothario for this Sunday night! -First commercial break- Steve Stack: Welcome back to Southwest Championship Wrestling! Last week we played that video detailing the long and storied history between El Gran Apollo & Jose Lothario and we know a lot of fans went to the HemisFair Arena Sunday night to see those two finally face off in a one on one match. Unfortunately that match didn't turn out the way many fans had hoped, with Jose attacking El Gran Apollo before the match and then goading him into having the match in an injured state. This left a bad taste in many people's mouths especially the AWA President Stanley Blackburn. Due to this, an immediate rematch has been signed to take place this Sunday night and this time there won't be any reason for disappointment because there MUST be a clear and decisive winner and there won't be any rules for Jose Lothario to bend or break because THIS match will be a No Holds Barred Texas Death Match! Fans have been waiting for many months to finally see a decisive battle take place between El Gran Apollo and Jose Lothario and it WILL take place this Sunday night! Jose Lothario comes storming out to the interview area Jose Lothario: What are you talking about Steve Stack!? A Texas Death match!? Why should I have to have a Texas Death Match with this punk when I've beat him so many times already!? I beat him on Christmas night, I beat him in a hundred tag matches, I injured his friends, why in the world does he deserve another match with me!? Steve Stack: I don't know Jose, maybe Stanley Blackburn didn't like the way you feigned injury and attacked Apollo with a cast before your match on Christmas night. Jose Lothario: Don't try to get smart with me Steve Stack! You think I'm afraid of El Gran Apollo don't you? Why should I be afraid of a young punk like him who has never done anything in this business except ride the coat tails of great stars like myself and Mil Mascaras? I've held championships all over this country, what has that mocoso ever done!? Nothing! I'm not afraid of him! My people have turned their backs on me to support this embustero! How could they cheer this communist from Cuba instead of me?? Everything I've done I've done for my people and they repay me now by booing me and throwing trash at me and cheering for that mocoso! Well it is going to end Sunday night. I gave this kid so many chances to go away and save his career but he's out of chances now. I've been in more Texas Death matches than almost any man in wrestling, how in the world does anything think this kid whose never been in one can beat me? The first night of 1984 is going to be the last night of El Gran Apollo's career! Jose Lothario storms off from the interview area Steve Stack: Big words from Jose Lothario but we've seen for a long time that his tough talk about Apollo hasn't always been backed up in the ring. But all the talking is going to end Sunday night and we're going to find out once and for all who is the better man when Jose and El Gran Apollo meet in the most decisive match in wrestling: The Texas Death match! Now let's head down to the ring for our first match of the day as Mike Jackson & Tony Torres team up to take on Snake Brown and Paul Peller! Steve Stack: An impressive showing for the young Tony Torres in this match! He looks to be coming along nicely under the tutelage of Roy Lee Welch and Mike Jackson! We've got to take a time out for another commercial break but don't go away because when we come back we're going to be talking to the new AWA Southwest Tag Team Champions, Stan Lane and Steve Keirn: The Fabulous Ones! -Second commercial break- Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling and let me introduce the new AWA Southwest Tag Team Champions, The Fabulous Ones! Guys it's great to have you back here in The Junction! Steve Keirn: Steve Stack no one is happier about us being back here than we are, especially to be standing out here with OUR belts back around our waists. It was a long hard fight for us to get these belts away from The Texas Dynasty only to have them stolen from us by The Assassins but now everything is right again because my shoulder is healed, the belts are back where they belong and The Fabulous Ones are here to stay! Stan Lane: Sometimes you don't get everything you want for Christmas but this year we definitely did because we got the Southwest Tag Team Titles back! But having these belts back isn't enough, we still have a score to settle with The Assassins. It was almost 2 months ago now that they pulled their little trick on us by having Assassin #2 hide under the mask of The Canadian and surprise us while Assassin #1 was hiding in the crowd without his mask waiting to jump in. I'll give them credit it was a great little plan and it worked, they managed to get hurt my partner Steve Keirn and they stole the belts away from us. But all wounds heal and Steve Keirn's shoulder is healed, we showed that on Christmas night when we beat The Assassins and got back our belts. Now it's time to finish the war that The Assassins started, now it's time to send THEM out of Texas with a busted shoulder, a broken arm, a broken leg, whatever it takes to get rid of them! Steve Keirn: You got to savor the victory of the first battle but it's all downhill from here for you two because we're not going to stop until one or both of you is hurt and hurt bad! We've got a rematch with you this Sunday night and that might just be all we need to get the job done and if not we'll just keep on beating on you until something breaks because San Antonio is now OUR town and no one is going to get away with running us out of it even if it was just for a few weeks! Assassins you wanted a war with The Fabulous Ones, well be careful what you wish for because now you've got it! The Fabulous Ones leave the interview area Steve Stack: The Fabulous Ones are fired up to be back here in San Antonio and so are the fans here in The Junction! You're not going to want to miss their match with The Assassins this Sunday night in the HemisFair Arena so buy your tickets now! We're going to be talking to The Assassins later on in the hour but right now I'd like to bring out Rugged Ron Starr whose waging war against his own assassin right now, The Cuban Assassin. Ron Starr comes into the interview area Ron Starr: You've got that right Steve Stack, I am at war right now with The Cuban Assassin but I intend to end that war this Sunday night. He's been treating me like a pin cushion over the past few weeks with that Spike of his but this time I've got a chance to return the favor. This Sunday night he and I are going to be wrestling in a match where his Spike is going to be hanging from the top of a 10 foot pole in the corner and whoever can climb that pole and retrieve the Spike can do whatever they want with it. By looking at him, I don't even know if The Cuban Assassin is going to be able to climb the pole but I know I can and I know when I get that Spike I am going bury it right between his eyes! Cuban Assassin you've stabbed and cut me for the last time! For the fans out there who are squeamish and don't like the sight of blood, plan to take your bathroom break or your trip to the concession stand during my match Sunday night because I promise you when I finish taking that Spike to the Cuban Assassin the ring is going to look like a slaughterhouse! Ron Starr leaves the interview area Steve Stack: I think Ron Starr is right about one thing, fans who don't like the sight of blood are definitely going to want to look away during that match because whoever climbs that pole and retrieves the Spike is going to do some serious damage to his opponent! Now let me bring in a man whose out for blood in his own right, the man who came up just short of defeating Tully Blanchard for the Southwest Heavyweight Title on Sunday night, Mr. Saito! Mr. Saito: Steve Stack I want to know why I don't get rematch with Tully Blanchard Sunday night!? Why I have to face David Von Erich when everyone see how Tully use chain to beat me!? Steve Stack: I can't answer that Mr. Saito, all I know is that with both yourself and David Von Erich having been cheated in recent title matches with Tully Blanchard, Stanley Blackburn couldn't decide which one of you should receive the first title match against him and decided to have you wrestle each other to decide it. Mr. Saito: David Von Erich don't deserve title match before me! I the number one wrestler from Japan, I the number one wrestler in Southwest Wrestling, I deserve title match! David Von Erich want to get in my way then he going to pay the price! I never like him and I don't care about his problem with Tully Blanchard! He never going to get his revenge now because when I drop him on his head with Saito Suplex he going to need to go back to the hospital! And then next week it will be Mr. Saito who fight Tully Blanchard and win the Southwest Title! Mr. Saito leaves the interview area Steve Stack: . With the hatred that Mr. Saito and David Von Erich both have for Tully I am sure they are going to have one heck of a hard fought match against each other this Sunday night with the winner being the one who gets the next Southwest Title match. I don't know who is going to be facing Tully Blanchard next week but I'm sure that Tully is happy to see his two biggest rivals have to fight each other Sunday night to get the chance to do so. It's almost time to take another commercial break but don't go anywhere because when we come back we're going to play a video tape with a much anticipated statement from Eddie Gilbert about his actions a couple of weeks ago where he ended the career of Ricky Morton with a piledriver on the concrete floor and hear his message to his former partner and mentor Ken Lucas! -Third commercial break- Steve Stack: Well I don't know quite what to say after seeing that video. It seems like the night of December 18th 1983 is going to be a very sad one in the history of wrestling as apparently it was the end of 3 men's careers in Ricky Morton, Ken Lucas and Eddie Gilbert. But the show must go on here on Southwest Championship Wrestling and right now I'm going to bring out two men who've made their name by ending wrestling careers, the former Southwest Tag Team Champions, The Assassins! The Assassin: The only sad thing Steve Stack is that you're out here giving credit to Eddie Gilbert for another name that belongs to us. Ricky Morton stepped into the ring for a match against The Assassins and got carried out on a stretcher at the end of it, that's what history should say about the end of his career. But that's not what I'm out here to talk about right now. I'm out here to talk about those pretty boys who were out here bragging about how they won back how they won back the Southwest Tag Team Titles and declaring war on The Assassins. It seems to me that Stan Lane and Steve Keirn should take their own advice when it comes to being careful what you wish for because there is only one way that war against The Assassins ever ends and that's with the end of a career. And not our own. Steve Keirn you may think you know what it means to get hurt by The Assassins but what we did to you was only a small taste of what's to come now that you've declared war on us. When we finish with you that busted shoulder we gave you is going to seem like a skinned knee. Or maybe it won't be you, maybe it will be Stan Lane who gets to feel what it's like to go to the hospital courtesy of The Assassins. But whichever one it is one thing is for sure the war between The Assassins and The Fabulous Ones is not going to end until one or both of you has your careers ended. You don't get the name of The Assassin by just winning matches, you get that kind of name and reputation by finishing people for good. And that's just what we plan to do because rest assured sometime in 1984 the team of The Fabulous Ones is going to end forever! The Assassins leave the interview area Steve Stack: The Assassins have certainly made their reputation as men who can back up their talk about ending careers but I'm not sure they've ever had to deal with a team as tough as The Fabulous Ones. One thing is for sure, their match this Sunday night is certainly going to be the war that both teams have been promising. And speaking of war let me bring out now a man whose fighting his own war right now against the Southwest Heavyweight Champion, the Yellow Rose of Texas, David Von Erich! David Von Erich: Steve Stack it's good to be back here on TV and I'd like to thank all the fans who sent me letters to get well soon and telling me not to give up in my fight against Tully Blanchard. And I can promise you I won't ever stop fighting Tully Blanchard until I run him out of MY state of Texas for good! Tully, the beating that my brother Kerry gave you a few weeks ago is NOTHING compared to what I am going to do to you once I finally get my hands on you again. Steve Stack: Well David for you to do that you'll have to get through Mr. Saito. What are your thoughts about your match against him this Sunday night? David Von Erich: I've been in the ring with Mr. Saito before, both as a partner and as an opponent and I know how tough he is. He's one of the toughest men in all of professional wrestling and I know that I'm going to have a heck of a fight on my hands this Sunday night. But nothing and I mean NOTHING is going to stop me from getting to Tully Blanchard and I will beat Mr. Saito because whatever I have to do to get my rematch against Tully Blanchard, I will do it. Steve Stack: David I know this is going to be a touchy subject but this is the first time you've had a chance to talk to the people since your match against Tully Blanchard 3 weeks ago so I have to ask you about Sunshine's betrayal and how she hit you with that loaded purse to effectively end your match with Tully before it even began. David Von Erich: There are a lot of things I want to say about Sunshine but unfortunately not too many of them are going to be allowed to air on TV. So I'll just say this: Sunshine you are the lowest of the low, the absolute scum of the earth. You didn't just betray me you betrayed my whole family. We took you into our home, my momma cooked for you and fed you and then you come out here and insult her on TV? You better enjoy those caviar and champagne dreams your living now because it's not going to last for long because I'm going to get my revenge on Tully Blanchard and then you're going to get a chance to be by HIS side when he needs someone to feed him and take care of him because of how badly he's hurt. And when the checks stop coming in do you think Tully is going to be able to keep up that high priced lifestyle you love so much? Do you think he's going to be able to keep buying you those high dollar dresses and taking you out to the 5 star restaurants once I end his wrestling career? I can't get my revenge on you with my hands, as much as I might want to, because my father raised me to never strike a woman even though you are a sorry excuse for one. The best revenge I can take against you is to end your meal ticket and the good thing is, I already planned to do that. So Sunshine you better enjoy the good life now because it's going to end and it's going to end real soon. David Von Erich leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Whether David Von Erich wins his match against Mr. Saito this Sunday night or not I think it's clear that there is surely a confrontation with Tully Blanchard in his near future! Right now we've got to take a time out for our sponsors but when we come back we're going to hear from the manager of the FORMER Southwest Television Champion, Gentleman Jim Holliday and also see his tag team of Goldie Rogers & 'Diamond' Timothy Flowers in a rematch from last week against the brother team of Man Mountain Link and Tiny Anderson so don't go away we'll be right back! -Fourth commercial break- http://i.imgur.com/USc9Jzd.jpg?1 Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling and with me now is 'Gentleman' Jim Holliday! Mr. Holliday what do you have to say about last Sunday night when your client Mike Masters lost the Southwest Television Title to Roy Lee Welch? Holliday: It was the biggest robbery that's ever taken place in this sport! Jack Howe made the fastest count in the history of professional wrestling, how else could you possibly explain Roy Lee Welch beating Mike Masters? Steve Stack: Jack Howe has been a referee here for a very long time and he has the utmost integrity, I would appreciate if you didn't come out here and lie about the man just to excuse the short comings of your client. Holliday: Who are you to call me a liar!? Do you know who I am!? You keep testing me and you'll be watching the television show from your couch instead of hosting it, I can make that happen! Now you just keep your mouth shut and I'll do the rest of the talking now. Mike Masters should have received an immediate rematch here on television or at the HemisFair Arena Sunday night but instead Roy Lee Welch ran back to his home state of Alabama to avoid that. I think that should be grounds for him to be stripped of the title and have it returned to Mike Masters but what is a certainty is that he will not have that Southwest Television Title for long and it will soon be back around the waist of my client Mike Masters. In the meantime he is being insulted with the competition that has been provided for him as this Sunday night he has to face some guy by the name of El Bracero? Who is that!? I've never heard of him! Steve Stack: El Bracero is a very accomplished wrestler, he's been here in the area before and - Holliday: I told you to keep your mouth shut! It doesn't matter who El Bracero is and especially what you think of him! Mike Masters is going to make short work of him in the HemisFair Arena and send him right back to wherever he came from. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go to the ring and instruct the Dream Team of Goldie Rogers and 'Diamond' Timothy Flowers to another victory over the disgraceful duo of Man Mountain Link and Tiny Anderson. Jim Holliday leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Well fans apparently this might be my last time on the program with you if Mr. Holliday has anything to say about it so let me just send it down to the ring where both teams are already in the ring awaiting the bell. Steve Stack: Man Mountain Link looks to be furious but whether it's at the team of Timothy Flowers & Goldie Rogers or his own brother I'm not sure! We've got to take our last time commercial break of the program but don't go away because when we come back we're going to talk to the Southwest Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard and his girlfriend Sunshine and we've also still got the apparent peace offering from Sheik Adnan to come so don't go away we'll be right back with more Southwest Championship Wrestling! -Fifth and final commercial break- Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling and with me now are - Tully Blanchard: The people know who I am Steve Stack, I don't need an introduction from you! I'm the man who has been the Southwest Heavyweight Champion for over 6 months now, the man who everyone wants a piece of until they get it and realize that I am the best! Last Sunday night I added Mr. Saito to the list of names of men who have tried and FAILED to take this Southwest Title away from me. And now because Stanley Blackburn couldn't decide which failed contender to give another undeserved title shot to, I've got this Sunday night off. Which is just fine for me because Sunshine and I had our previous reservations The Palm ruined by Blackburn and he owed me a night off anyway. But one thing is for sure whether it's Mr. Saito or David Von Erich whoever I wrestle next week WILL fail to take my Southwest Title away from me just like everyone else who has tried to do so over the last 6 months. Steve Stack: Sunshine I have to ask you what are your thoughts about the comments that David Von Erich just made about you here today on television? Sunshine: David can tough talk all he wants but I know inside he's heart broken because he knows he lost the greatest woman he could ever have. There isn't another woman in Texas as beautiful or as smart as me and now that David's had the best everything that comes after is just going to be 2nd rate. But that might not be a problem for long because if he ever does manage to get another match against my man Tully Blanchard he'll just suffer another injury to that already fragile brain of his and maybe he'll have the beneficial side effect of losing his memory so he can forget about how he loved and lost the best thing he's ever had. Steve Stack: Well I think - Tully Blanchard: No one cares what YOU think Steve Stack! We've blessed you with our presence enough for today it's time that Sunshine and I get out of here and enjoy our well earned time off! Tully and Sunshine leave the interview area Steve Stack: Ok fans it looks Sheik Adnan is headed down to the ring now so it must be time to hear his "peace offering" to Jim Duggan so let's listen in to hear what he has to say. The shot changes to ringside where Sheik Adnan al-Kaissie is standing in the ring while the crowd in The Junction tries to drown him out with boos Sheik Adnan: I came here to talk to Jim Duggan in person so please Mr. Duggan come to the ring so that I can make my peace offering to you. You can see I am alone, you have nothing to fear I do not want to fight with you, I only want to talk. Jim Duggan comes down to the ring to a loud ovation from the crowd in The Junction Jim Duggan: I wouldn't have anything to fear from you even if you did want to fight Geek Adnan or did you forget I already beat you before with one hand tied behind my back? Just say what you want to say because I don't want to be around you any longer than I have to, you stink like a camel! Sheik Adnan: I will not resort to trading insults with you Jim Duggan, I did not come here for that either. I came here to admit that I have failed in my mission against you. I have sent some of the biggest and baddest men in wrestling after you: Bruiser Brody, The Zambuie Express, Sgt. Slaughter, Killer Khan and you have beaten them all. It has cost me a great deal of money to hire all of those men and I have nothing to show for it. So today marks the end of my vendetta against you Jim Duggan. You have won and as a token of my good will I have brought you something. Sheik Adnan hands Jim Duggan a briefcase Jim Duggan: I don't want any of your dirty money so you can just take this briefcase right back! Sheik Adnan: It is not money inside that briefcase Mr. Duggan, please just open it and accept my peace offering. Jim Duggan opens the briefcase and inside is only a letter which Duggan starts to read aloud Jim Duggan: "Do you remember when I told you that there is no one you can trust, no one you can turn to, that no one will stand by your side when I have the unlimited resources to buy them away from you? Now you will learn how true those words were!" What is this!? Jim Duggan grabs Sheik Adnan by the throat Are you really so stupid that you're going to threaten me when you're close enough for me to wring your neck!? Suddenly Ron Starr comes running out to the ring behind Jim Duggan as Sheik Adnan watches him with glee. But as Ron Starr is about to get in the ring Jim Duggan turns around and shoves Sheik Adnan at him and Ron Starr nails Adnan with a punch! Jim Duggan: It looks like you over estimated the power of your money Geek Adnan! Ron Starr told me about your little plan to lure me into an attack and now we've got a peace offering of our own for you! Ron Starr holds Sheik Adnan down on the mat with his right arm stretched out as Jim Duggan climbs to the top rope and comes off with a big kneedrop to Adnan's outstretched arm. Sheik Adnan starts screaming in pain as officials start to run out to the ring to keep any further violence from taking place. Ron Starr and Jim Duggan head to the interview area as Sheik Adnan is being helped from the ring, continuing to scream in pain. Ron Starr: Now you know that there is at least one person that you can't buy Sheik Adnan! Ron Starr is not for sale! And you're going to find it's a lot harder to write those checks now with a broken arm! Jim Duggan: There's OUR piece offering to you Geek Adnan and we hope you'll accept it with all the kindness we showed in giving it to you! Jim Duggan and Ron Starr walk away from the interview area together Steve Stack: Well I can't say I'm surprised that Sheik Adnan did not have good intention on his visit here today but I don't think he's going to be very happy about how it turned out! I don't know what the fallout from this will be but I definitely don't think this is the last we've heard from Sheik Adnan! Fans we're all out of time on today's program but make sure to buy your tickets for this Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena as the year of 1984 gets started off with a bang as The Fabulous Ones defend the Southwest Tag Team Titles against The Assassins, El Gran Apollo battles Jose Lothario in a Texas Death match, David Von Erich faces Mr. Saito with the winner receiving a title match with Tully Blanchard, The Battle of the Hacksaws takes place with Jim Duggan against Butch Reed and much more! 14. WWE has definitely gone too far with inside shit lately especially when AJ is using lines like "Guys like you bury guys like me" in promos.
  15. Another great episode here. Glad to know I was right about Shaun Baxter & Dave Baxter being the same person and that they made the very dubious decision to have him win a squash match as a heel on the same episode they showed a video of him from Memphis getting squashed by Fuller & Golden. Interesting note about Ricky Morton & Todd Morton as a team is that on their first episode of TV teaming together they come out to 'Cult of Personality' which really caught me off guard when I was watching last night.
  16. Scott Ferris and Earthquake Ferris are not the same guy. Scott Ferris mostly worked in Stampede and Portland although he did do some jobs in AWA.
  17. If nothing else they are very consistent on that in their shoot interviews. They always say in their shoots that Dusty was fucking with them because they were bigger draws than he was during that time period.
  18. I don't either. They have enough talent to have two full rosters. There are a ton of guys who have just been languishing doing absolutely nothing that could be back on TV to fill out the midcard. They could also actually start developing guys they've called up from NXT and just thrown out there in pointless matches like Apollo Crews. My point was that if they're going to hit the panic button of "oh my god we need to bring back these guys who used to work here!" then at least bring back guys who have potential to do more than get a few nostalgia pops and then immediately fall into being stale and tired like RVD would. I feel like I'm about to throw up when I see people on twitter talking about how WWE should bring back Ken f'n Kennedy.
  19. Hopefully they'll have the good sense to bring Chris Masters back. Drew Galloway would be good to bring back as well. Those are two guys who have around 10 years of good production left in them, have potential to be bigger stars than they were in their previous runs and would have no problem fitting in with guys who are already on the roster. Evan Bourne/Matt Sydal would be a good person to bring back too although I don't see that happening. Not sure who else is out there that really fits that criteria because they definitely do not need to be bringing back old tired acts like RVD, NAO or MVP. I'd be ok with Finlay being on TV again, and he's already with the company as an agent, although I really doubt he's going to start wrestling again.
  20. Pretty much, no. But I never expected it would and tried to tell people who were looking at it as some kind of uber important time capsule that was being left behind for future generations that they were taking it way too seriously.
  21. I've always been intrigued by Don Diamond, he looks like one of those guys ala El Gran Apollo who had a good enough look for a babyface that he should have done more but instead just kind of disappeared. I never have really found out the story on why Apollo quit the business but apparently Don Diamond ran into legal problems.
  22. Old man or not, I'm still pretty sure Vader could kick Osprey's ass.
  23. Never heard it speculated that Ricky Morton was the guy who was supposed to take the World Title from Flair but refused and that's how Ronnie Garvin wound up with it instead. Does that timeline match up? Did Garvin win the title around the time that Morton had his thing with Flair?
  24. Looking forward to Part 4 whenever it drops. I've watched the first two months of 89 Continental recently and would love to hopefully get some answers to the many questions that watching it has presented like why there is a jobber named King Harley, why is Mike Jackson getting wins on TV, wtf was that angle with 'Super' Dave Baxter and Alan Martin etc etc etc
  25. If Beast's post wasn't clear enough the "LOL one word was written as two!" joke is well and truly dead. I'm fine with the dramatic trumpet, references to Robert Fuller's dong and redacted though.
