  1. Southwest Championship Wrestling - Christmas Night Spectacular @ San Antonio, TX - The HemisFair Arena 12/25/83 Ron Sexton & Pat Rose vs. Mike Jackson & Tony Torres - Mike Jackson starts against Ron Sexton and they have a nice exchange of holds on the mat with neither man gaining a definitive advantage before both men tag out to their partners. Pat Rose comes in and wants a handshake with Tony Torres but then cheap shots Torres when he accepts and starts beating on him. Rose whips Torres into his corner and he and Ron Sexton keep Torres isolated there, working him over and repeatedly trying to pin him but Torres keeps kicking out without being able to really mount a comeback. Torres eventually manages to make it to the corner and tag in Mike Jackson after a missed splash by Pat Rose. Mike Jackson comes in and fires up on Rose. He goes to whip Rose into the corner but Rose reverses it but as Jackson goes into the corner he hops up onto the turnbuckles and sets up to launch himself back with his patented crossbody but instead Ron Sexton comes running down the apron and blasts him with a big forearm that causes him to fall back down into the ring where he's covered by Pat Rose for the count of 3. Winners: Ron Sexton & Pat Rose in 7:01 after Pat Rose pins Mike Jackson Ron Starr vs. The Cuban Assassin - Ron Starr started this match wanting a war but The Cuban Assassin kept away from him and kept stepping out through the ropes to keep referee Jack Howe in between him and Ron Starr. The Cuban Assassin kept complaining about Ron Starr coming after him with closed fists and after a few rounds of ducking and running from Starr, The Cuban Assassin finally found his opening to cheap shot Starr while he was arguing with the referee. The Cuban Assassin quickly started wearing down Ron Starr with nerve holds and pulling on Starr's tights and hair to keep control of him any time Starr started to mount a comeback. Jack Howe finally caught The Cuban Assassin pulling Starr's hair and forced him to break the hold which allowed Ron Starr the chance to BLAST The Cuban Assassin in the face with a punch that sent The Assassin ducking out of the ring for cover. Ron Starr didn't allow him to find any sanctuary outside the ring though as Starr followed him out and continued the assault. The Cuban Assassin and Ron Starr almost got counted out brawling outside the ring but Starr broke the count at 9 by rolling back in the ring. Ron Starr tried to go back out after The Cuban Assassin but referee Jack Howe got in between Starr and the ropes, which put his back to The Cuban Assassin who then pulled the Spike out of his boot! He got back up on the apron and as Ron Starr charged at him, The Cuban Assassin jabbed the Spike into his head and then quickly hid it in his pants before Jack Howe saw it. Starr went down and came up bleeding and The Cuban Assassin came into the ring and started biting and pounding on the cut on Ron Starr's forehead. The Cuban Assassin got Starr down on the mat and put him back in a nerve hold but Starr went into the pockets of The Cuban Assassin and pulled out the Spike! Ron Starr jabbed the Spike into the leg of The Cuban Assassin to break out of the nerve hold and then tried to stab The Cuban Assassin in the head with it but The Cuban Assassin instead dove out of the ring to get away from him! Referee Jack Howe saw the Spike in Ron Starr's hand and disqualified him but the bloody Ron Starr didn't care as he continued to challenge The Cuban Assassin to get back in the ring with him! The Cuban Assassin had no desire for a taste of his own medicine however and instead quickly retreated to the locker room. Winner: The Cuban Assassin by disqualification in 9:54 after referee Jack Howe saw Ron Starr with the Spike in his hand Larry Hamilton & Steve Pardee vs. Yin & Yang - Larry Hamilton started the match against Yin and used his amateur wrestling ability to beat Yin at his own game of mat wrestling, something that Yin was not at all accustomed to. Yin tagged out to his partner Yang who came in and avoided a Larry Hamilton take down with a side step and then kicked him in the mouth. Yang stomped and pounded on Hamilton for a bit but Hamilton eventually was able to grab one of Yang's kicks and take him down, buying him the time to tag out to Steve Pardee. Yang met Pardee with punches as he came into the ring but Pardee fired back with some of his own and won the brawl a short time later put Yang away with his patented Bulldog, gaining the team of Larry Hamilton & Steve Pardee a fairly dominant victory over Yin & Yang. Winners: Larry Hamilton & Steve Pardee in 6:22 after Steve Pardee pinned Yang following a Bulldog Southwest Television Title: Roy Lee Welch vs. Mike Masters w/Holliday - Mike Masters mocks Roy Lee Welch's size and flexes on him while Welch responds by mocking Masters' tendency to run away from fights. This got Masters very angry and he charged at Welch who dodged out of the way, sending Masters crashing into the turnbuckles. Welch went to work on the arm of the Television Champion, hoping to take away some of the power he uses for the Full Nelson but Masters eventually gained control of the match with the help of Jim Holliday distracting Roy Lee Welch. Masters maintained control over Welch for a few minutes, mostly focusing his attack on Welch's neck to soften him up for the Full Nelson. When Masters went for the Full Nelson however, Welch was able to drop down onto his back to get out of the Full Nelson and as Masters bent down to try and grab him again, Welch rolled him up into a pin and got the 3 count! Winner and NEW Southwest Television Champion: Roy Lee Welch in 7:47 after countering the Full Nelson into a pin Mike Masters tried to attack Roy Lee Welch after the match but Roy evaded him and quickly got out of the ring and celebrated at ringside with the Television Title as Mike Masters had a temper tantrum in the ring, kicking the ropes and arguing with referee Jack Howe El Gran Apollo vs. Jose Lothario - Jose Lothario came out to the ring first with the cast back on his hand and announced that he had re-injured it and would be unable to compete. The crowd started booing him as he said that he apologized to them because he knew they wanted to see him beat El Gran Apollo and send him back to Cuba. El Gran Apollo came out and said he'd wrestle Jose even with the case on his hand but Jose refused. He left the ring and El Gran Apollo stuck his head between the ropes to shout at him some more and Jose blasted him with a punch with the cast covered hand which seemed to knock El Gran Apollo completely out as he fell lifeless back into the ring! Jose got on the mic and said he changed his mind, he would now have the match! Jose demanded that Carl Fergie ring the bell and get it started but Carl Fergie refused to do so as El Gran Apollo wasn't even conscious! Carl Fergie also refused to allow Jose to compete with a cast on his hand so Jose just simply pulled the cast right off which caused the crowd to get even more furious. Carl Fergie and Jose argued until El Gran Apollo stumbled back to his feet looking very punch drunk and demanded that the match be started. Carl Fergie kept asking El Gran Apollo if he was sure he could compete and Apollo demanded to have the match so Carl Fergie reluctantly rang the bell to get things underway. Jose laughed at El Gran Apollo as he stumbled around punch drunk and Jose baited him into walking into a huge uppercut which put Apollo down on the mat. Jose covered him for the pin but Apollo kicked out at 2 much to the delight of the crowd! Carl Fergie backed Jose into the corner and checked on El Gran Apollo to make sure he could compete and while this was going on, Jose went into his tights and put brass knuckles on his fist! As Carl Fergie consented to let Apollo continue the match Jose came in with a big straight right hand with the brass knuckles that put El Gran Apollo back down on the mat and pinned him. Jose hid the brass knuckles back in his tights while Carl Fergie counted to 3. Winner: Jose Lothario in 1:06 after knocking out El Gran Apollo with brass knuckles Southwest Heavyweight Title: Mr. Saito vs. Tully Blanchard - Tully tried to make peace with Mr. Saito as the bell rang, offering him a handshake but Saito was not interested. Tully continued to try and avoid a fight as he rubbed his fingers together to signify he would give Mr. Saito money but Saito responded with sign language of his own that he was going to break Tully and take his title! Sunshine then jumped up on the apron to shout at Mr. Saito which distracted him long enough for Tully to attack him from behind! Tully started pounding on Saito and then choked him on the ropes up until the count of 4, as Jack Howe threatened to disqualify him. As Jack Howe was admonishing Tully, Sunshine slapped Saito as his head was on the ropes which had the effect of firing Saito up! Saito went flying out of the ring after Sunshine and she took off running around the ring! She slid into the ring and Saito came flying in after her but got caught with a big clothesline from Tully. Tully grabbed Saito and put him in a chin lock. The crowd wasn't quite sure if they wanted to cheer on Saito but eventually got behind him as they decided they wanted to see him kick Tully's ass. Saito started to get back to his feet and break out of the chin lock but Tully pulled his hair and brought him back down to the mat. Saito started back to his feet again and this time when Tully pulled his hair Saito stayed on his feet and started putting elbows into Tully's ribs and Tully broke the hold and quickly back pedaled away from Saito and ducked out of the ring. Tully shouted at Sunshine to grab his Southwest Title from the timekeeper's table and started to walk away from the match but Saito rushed out of the ring and attacked him! Saito rolled Tully back in the ring but then Saito got hit in the back of the head with the Southwest Title by Sunshine as he was climbing back into the ring! Tully covered Saito but Saito was able to kick out at the count of 2! Tully started choking Saito on the ropes again and kept breaking at the count of 4 just to go right back to it. Referee Jack Howe finally threatened to disqualify Tully and Tully pulled Saito off the ropes and went to set him up for the Slingshot Suplex but Saito blocked it! Tully tried again to get Saito up but this time Saito reversed it and picked Tully it up and spun him around and hit a Slingshot Suplex of his own! Saito covered Tully but Sunshine put Tully's foot on the bottom rope to break the pin. Saito started arguing with Jack Howe about how Sunshine put Tully's foot on the rope and while Jack Howe & Saito had their backs turned, Tully pulled a chain from out of his tights and wrapped it around his fist. Saito turned around and Tully swung at him with a punch with the chain covered fist but Saito ducked under it it and grabbed Tully into position for the Saito Suplex! Saito lifted him up for it but Tully punched him with the chain in mid air and Saito dropped Tully who fell on top of Saito and pinned him for the count of 3! Winner and STILL Southwest Heavyweight Champion: Tully Blanchard in 10:38 after knocking Saito out with a chain Tully called for Sunshine to throw him her purse and he got ready to hit Saito over the head with it as he started to get up when suddenly David Von Erich ran into the ring and tackled him! David started pounding on Tully as the crowd went wild but Sunshine grabbed Tully and helped pull him out of the ring away from David! David started to go out after them when suddenly Saito got up and attacked David! David and Saito brawled in the ring as Tully & Sunshine ran like hell back to the locker room! David ducked a chop from Saito and then threw him out through the ropes and looked around for Tully & Sunshine and saw them running up the aisle and chased after him but they had way too big of a lead on him and got away. Southwest Tag Team Titles:The Fabulous Ones vs. The Assassins - This match starts wild as The Fabulous Ones attack The Assassins as soon as they get in the ring and they have a wild brawl that spills outside of the ring and goes around ringside. The Assassins end up gaining control however Steve Keirn goes for a clothesline as Assassin #2 is up against the ring post and Assassin #2 moves out of the way causing Steve Keirn to clothesline the ring post with the arm he'd previously injured. The Assassins quickly retreat to the ring and want the match started immediately as they sense that Keirn has re-injured himself. Steve Keirn tries to play off that he's not injured so The Assassins goad him into staring the match against Assassin #1. Stan Lane tries to talk him out of it but Keirn assures him that he's ok and starts the mach against Assassin #1 who focuses all of attention on Keirn's bad shoulder. Keirn manages to stay out of harm's way and gets Assassin #1 down on the mat in a headlock until Assassin #2 runs in and hits a big running boot on Keirn's injured shoulder. Stan Lane tries to run in for revenge but he gets held out of the ring by referee Carl Fergie which allows The Assassins to double team Keirn and just pound, stomp and kick at Keirn's shoulder before switching out without making a tag. The Assassins continue the assault on Keirn and puts him in various holds to keep working on the shoulder but Stan Lane keeps running in and breaking them up. Every time Lane runs in and draws the attention of the referee, The Assassins make an illegal switch behind the ref's back. After this goes on for a while, Assassin #2 whips Keirn into the ropes and goes for a big boot but Keirn ducks under and comes back off the other side of the ropes with a big Flying Forearm! Keirn and Assassin #2 are both down on the mat and start crawling to their corner and make the tag at the same time! Stan Lane and Assassin #1 come rushing into the ring at the same time and Stan Lane catches Assassin #1 with a big karate kick that takes him down! As Assassin #1 gets up, Lane grabs him and sets him up for the Russian Legsweep but Assassin #2 comes flying in with a big running boot that puts Lane down on the mat before he can hit the Russian Legsweep. Steve Keirn runs in and attacks Assassin #2 which leads to all 4 men in the ring! The Assassins are getting better of the fight and end up in opposite turnbuckles from each other beating on The Fabs so The Assassins attempt to whip The Fabs into the middle of the ring into each other but The Fabs reverse it, sending The Assassins crashing into each other in the middle of the ring! Assassin #2 goes down while Assassin #1 stumbles around dazed where Stan Lane catches him with the Russian Legsweep and pins him for the count of 3 while Steve Keirn makes sure Assassin #2 doesn't break the pin! Winners and NEW Southwest Tag Team Champions: The Fabulous Ones in 13:27 after Stan Lane pins Assassin #1 following a Russian Legsweep Mongolian Stretcher match: Killer Khan vs. Jim Duggan - Killer Khan came out first pushing a stretcher that had a "Reserved for Jim Duggan" sign on it, just like how he did in his previous Mongolian Stretcher match with Bob Sweetan. Killer Khan watched the aisle for Jim Duggan to come out but Duggan instead wound up coming through the crowd and attacking Killer Khan from behind as revenge for the way Khan attacked him the previous week! Duggan just beat the hell out of Killer Khan in the early going as Khan was unable to mount any kind of offense as Duggan was all over him with punches and kicks and stayed right on top of Khan even as Khan tried to take refuge outside of the ring. Khan was finally able to take control of the match only after Duggan want for a Spear that Khan dodged out of the way of and Duggan went crashing into the big wooden steps. Khan had to take a moment to shake the cobwebs out of his head before following up the advantage and attacking Duggan. He slammed Duggan's head off the wood steps and then put a big boot upside Hacksaw's head. Killer Khan grabbed a chair and went to bring it down on Duggan's head as he got back to his feet but Duggan grabbed it as it came down and Duggan and Khan had a tug of war over the chair until Khan kicked Duggan low to end the tug of war and then brained Duggan with the chair. Duggan struggled to get back up and Khan slammed the chair on his back a few times before tossing the chair away. Killer Khan lifted his thumb up into the air and stepped back, reading himself for the Death Blow that finished off so many men previously but Duggan caught Khan as he came rushing in with a big Spear! Both men were down on the floor of the HemisFair Arena with the fans cheering for Duggan to get back up and he stumbled back to his feet as Khan tried to do the same and Duggan blasted Khan with a big punch that sent him crumpling back down to the floor. Duggan grabbed the chair off the floor and unfolded it and set it down and the grabbed Khan as he was getting up and tried to slam Khan throat first into the seat of the chair but Khan blocked it with his hands and then back kicked Duggan between the legs! Khan then pulled the chair up and slammed it down over Duggan's head! Duggan went down to one knee and Khan blasted him again with the chair which put him down and seemingly out! Khan climbed up to the ring apron and went to dive off with a knee drop to Duggan's throat but Duggan move out of the way and Khan crashed hard on concrete floor! Duggan stumbled up to his feet, bleeding but saw Khan down on the floor holding his knee and grabbed the chair and started slamming it down on the injured leg of Killer Khan! Khan screamed in pain as Duggan repeatedly slammed the chair down on Khan's leg until finally the bell rang and the match was called off. Winner: Jim Duggan in 12:19 after breaking Killer Khan's leg with a steel chair Duggan wouldn't stop beating on Khan's leg despite the bell ringing and finally The Fabulous Ones, Ron Starr & Roy Lee Welch ran out and pulled him off Killer Khan who lay on the floor of the HemisFair Arena screaming and holding on to his leg. Duggan held the chair up in the air as the crowd cheered him on and celebrated with The Fabs, Ron Starr & Welch as Killer Khan was loaded onto the stretcher and carried out of the arena.
  2. I don't think there is anyway you can use Visine to get high. It's regular used by stoners after getting high though as a way to hide bloodshot eyes.
  3. The Young Bucks finishing ahead of The Nightmares is disgusting.
  4. Finn does seem to be fairly popular with the female audience
  5. I don't think the match itself was ever all that "controversial" it was mostly about the gif. And I'm not sure how anyone was all that suprised that someone like Vader, who probably doesn't really follow wrestling that closely, could see that gif and think "Geez this is what wrestling is now? That sucks" And put me in the camp of people who think what happens in the gif is lame. But I've never liked that "mirroring moves into a standoff" spot because it just feels lame and masturbatory to me. Adding a bunch of flips isn't exactly going to endear me to it.
  6. As I pointed out to Bix yesterday, and I think I may have made this point before, Shoemaker is that guy you're stuck next to in line while waiting to get into indie shows who tries impressing everybody else in line with his "insider knowledge," but most of it is stuff like "Did you know there were three Ultimate Warriors and four Undertakers?" I don't know about four but there was clearly a switch in Undertakers at one point, I mean the original one had red hair and you can tell his replacement by the fact that he has black hair.
  7. I fucking love this match. It's like the perfect Memphis match and I rated it #1 on the DVDVR Memphis set.
  8. I would say that's much more of a problem with the Bucks caring more about selling their t-shirts and shit than actually being heels. But that's not exactly something new with them so a good booker would realize that you shouldn't make those guys your top heels.
  9. I suppose that would be good for Bruce but most likely bad for the rest of us. Not only would that likely mean the end of new footage popping up, what's already up on the site would likely disappear because I don't see WWE really caring enough to upload the 300+ Houston matches to the Network that are already up. I'd rather think Bruce met HHH to discuss some kind of Evolve type working relationship with the NWA.
  10. Taped at The Junction in San Antonio, TX on 12/19 Southwest Championship Wrestling airing on Saturday 12/24 in local markets -Show intro- Steve Stack: Welcome to another edition of Southwest Championship Wrestling, the most exciting hour in all of professional wrestling! We've got so many things to get to here in this hour but before we do that I have to talk about some of the many things that took place last Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena! We saw the return of Killer Khan to the area but his match with Jim Duggan didn't exactly happen as scheduled as Killer Khan just attacked Jim Duggan and left him laying and we'll be talking about that more later on as Sheik Adnan has sent in a video with a big challenge to Jim Duggan, we saw Mike Masters retain his TV Title in the Lumberjack Match with Man Mountain Link although not under the most honorable of circumstances, we saw Yin & Yang defeat the team of Eddie Gilbert & Ken Lucas, ending their partnership but that wasn't the last we saw of young Eddie Gilbert that night as later on he helped The Assassins retain their Southwest Tag Team Titles when he pulled Ricky Morton out of the ring nad gave him a piledriver right on the hard concrete floor of the HemisFair Arena! We'll talk to Ken Lucas to get an update on Ricky Morton's condition later in the hour but before we get to that I have to talk about the main event where we saw Tully Blanchard get a victory over Kerry Von Erich by disqualification but he left the ring looking like anything but a winner as Kerry was disqualified for refusing to let go of the Iron Claw on Tully and kept that devastating hold on him for number of minutes while wrestlers tried to pull him off of Tully without success. Then we saw Mr. Saito make a return after a sudden disappearance to get Kerry Von Erich off of Tully only to then see Mr. Saito attack Tully himself and challenge him to a Southwest Heavyweight Title match! That match WILL take place this Sunday night, Christmas Night in what is going to be possibly the biggest night of action to ever take place inside the HemisFair Arena! And speaking of title matches, I have a very special video to show from the team that will be coming in to San Antonio this Sunday night to face The Assassins for the Southwest Tag Team Titles so let's play that now and after the video we'll have a commercial break and then come back to talk to The Assassins themselves about their match this Sunday night! -First commercial break- Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling and with me now are the Southwest Tag Team Champions, The Assassins! Gentlemen you just saw the video from The Fabulous Ones announcing they're coming home for Christmas, what are your thoughts about having to defend your titles against the former champions? Assassin #1: Steve Stack do you remember what it was like as a child spending weeks and weeks leading up to Christmas, hoping and dreaming about the gift you wanted most? Did you ever spend all that time dreaming and wishing only to wake up on Christmas morning and find out that what you wanted most was missing from under the tree? That's the feeling that is in store for The Fabulous Ones this Christmas because there is no way in hell they are going to these belts from us not even if Santa and all his reindeer show up to the HemisFair Arena this Sunday night to help them! Don't forget, we're the team that took these titles away from them in the first place, we're the team that beat them up and hurt Steve Keirn's shoulder and ran him off for a few weeks. And also don't forget that we stood out here last week and promised that one or both of The Rock N Roll Express would get seriously injured for continuing to challenge us for these belts and Ricky Morton was stretchered out of the HemisFair Arena. Steve Stack: But that was at the hands of Eddie Gilbert, you had nothing to do with Morton's injury! Assassin #1: The only reason we didn't injure Ricky Morton is because Eddie Gilbert beat us to it, As far as I'm concerned Ricky Morton should consider himself lucky that all he had to suffer as that piledriver on the concrete because it saved him from what we had in store for him. Be that as it may, the point is that I'm out here promising this week that these belts are going to stay right where they are. And my promise is worth a whole lot more than The Fabulous Ones' Christmas wish. The Assassins leave the interview area and Roy Lee Welch comes in Steve Stack: And now since I'm talking about the title matches that are going to take place this Sunday night, let me welcome in the man who will be getting a long awaited rematch for the Southwest Television Title, Roy Lee Welch! Roy it's been a little over a month now since you had the TV Title taken away from you by Mike Masters, with some help from your cousin Robert Fuller, and now on Christmas Night you will finally get your chance to regain that title. Roy Lee Welch: They say good things come to those who wait, well I plan to make that saying true when I take back my TV Title on Christmas Night. I had one rematch against Mike Masters after he stole that title away from me, which I won by disqualification, and since then his manager Jim Holliday has been doing everything possible to make sure I didn't get another shot. Well now I've another shot at that belt and this time I'm going to make it count. But the TV Title isn't the only belt I plan on collecting because I've got a promise from AWA President Stanley Blackburn that if I win the TV Title this Sunday night then I will finally get my National Title shot against my cousin Robert Fuller. And Robert, just because it's Christmas time doesn't mean I'm suddenly going to get warm and fuzzy feelings about you. You and Jimmy Golden just about killed me with a tire iron and stuffed me in the trunk of a car, you helped Mike Masters steal the TV Title from me, and when I take that National Title away from you I'm going to finally have my revenge! Roy Lee Welch leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Well there you have it from Roy Lee Welch, you'll be able to see him in action this Sunday night challenging for the Television Title and you may very well be able to see him challenging Robert Fuller for the AWA National Title very soon as well! But right now you're about to see Larry Hamilton & Steve Pardee in action against the team of Mike Fever & Snake Brown! Steve Stack: Another impressive win on television for the young team of Larry Hamilton and Steve Pardee! They seemed to have a bit more fire in them today, perhaps due to their recent frustrations and being unable to beat the team of Pat Rose & Ron Sexton! This Sunday night they have a different challenge in front of them however as they will be taking on the masked team of Yin & Yang who just last week were victorious against Eddie Gilbert & Ken Lucas and ended their partnership so Pardee & Hamilton certainly have their work cut out for him! But right now we've got to take another time out for our sponsors but don't go away because when we come back we're going to see a video from Sheik Adnan al-Kaissie and talk to 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan about the attack on him last Sunday night by Killer Khan. Don't go away! -Second Commercial Break- Steve Stack: Jim you just heard the challenge from Sheik Adnan and at least on this point he is telling the truth: Killer Khan has never been defeated in a Mongolian Stretcher match. It was only a few months ago that we saw him compete in a Mongolian Stretcher match in the HemisFair Arena where he ended the career of Bruiser Bob Sweetan! You've answered every challenge that Sheik Adnan has thrown your way before, but are you sure you're willing to answer this one? Jim Duggan: You better believe I am Steve Stack! I've never been afraid of nothing in my whole life and it's too late to start being afraid now! I know how tough that big Mongolian is, I've fought him before and last Sunday night I found out just how much it hurts when he jams his thumb into your throat! But unlike everyone else he did that to here, I got up and walked away! I didn't have to be carried out after it was over with! So Killer Khan, I've already taken your best show and you couldn't put me down so what is there for me to fear!? The last time we actually had a match I watched you run away and this time I'm going to watch you get carried out! So if you didn't figure it out yet, YES I accept the challenge for the Mongolian Stretcher match and Killer Khan I doubt that you celebrate Christmas but it's not going to stop me from giving you two gifts this Sunday night tough guy, these two big fists right here! Hoooooo! Jim Duggan leaves the interview area and 'Gentleman' Jim Holliday comes in Steve Stack: Now let me welcome in the manager of the Southwest Television Champion, 'Gentleman' Jim Holliday. Jim it seems you and Mike Masters defied the odds last Sunday night by defeating Man Mountain Link in the Lumberjack match although not without some controversy. Holliday: The only controversy about that match is how Man Mountain Link managed to keep getting title match after title match after failing over and over to beat Mike Masters. But that's over now, Man Mountain Link will NEVER get in the ring with my client Mike Masters ever again. And since Roy Lee Welch was out here getting ahead of himself, talking about how he's going to face the AWA National Champion after he takes the TV Title from Mike Masters let me just say first of all, that's never going to happen. Mike Masters beat that little runt before and he's going to beat him again this Sunday night. And when Mike Masters does defeat Roy Lee Welch it's going to be Masters who gets that AWA National Title shot! And that's not the only gold I've got my eye on! I've decided, in this spirit of Christmas, to take another man under my wing after seeing him have some struggles in gaining traction here in Southwest Championship Wrestling. I know that I gave him a trial period previously and decided not to manage him but what can I say it's Christmas and I'm in a giving mood. So right here on TV today the team of 'Diamond' Timothy Flowers and Goldie Rogers is going to reunite and in the main event, rid this area once and for all for the Slob Brothers, Tiny Anderson and Man Mountain Link! Now that's all I've got to say Steve Stack, I won't be answering any of the stupid questions I'm sure you're waiting to ask me. Jim Holliday leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Well thankfully he had already answered the question I had about why I was seeing the main event match of Timothy Flowers & Goldie Rogers vs. Man Mountain Link & Tiny Anderson on my format sheet. And speaking of questions I've got plenty to ask to the next guest we're going to see on the program as after this break I am going to be talking to the Southwest Heavyweight Champion, Tully Blanchard and I can't wait to ask him just how this issue with Mr. Saito came to pass! Don't go away, we'll be right back! -Third commercial break- Steve Stack: Welcome back to Southwest Championship Wrestling! I know you just saw that video of the long history between El Gran Apollo and Jose Lothario and this Sunday night, Apollo will FINALLY receive his one on one match with Jose Lothario! I know there's nothing that El Gran Apollo or his fans could have wanted more for Christmas and AWA President Stanley Blackburn is finally making it happen! Just another reason why you want to be in attendance this Sunday night for what is sure to be the biggest night of action ever in the HemisFair Arena! And now let me welcome to the program the Southwest Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard who will be in a match many people never though they would see as he will be defending the Southwest Title against Mr. Saito! Tully Blanchard: Steve Stack you want me to tell you why Mr. Saito is suddenly attacking me and challenging me for my Southwest Heavyweight Title? Well I have no idea! I brought the man here from Japan, I helped him get his visa to come here, I paid him LARGE sums of money to protect me against my many enemies and this is how he repays me? By attacking me after I've already been viciously assaulted by Kerry Von Erich, a man who I DEFEATED Sunday night by the way, and then challenging me for MY Southwest Title? What has he done to deserve a title shot anyway? The man just disappears for a few weeks and then he gets to just come back and find himself in a title match with the greatest champion in all of professional wrestling? It's not right Steve Stack, it's not right at all! Suddenly Mr. Saito comes rushing out to the interview area and Tully Blanchard sees him coming and grabs Sunshine's arm and takes off Mr Saito: Why he run like coward!? You run today Tully Blanchard but Sunday night you don't run from me! Sunday night I break you and take your belt away! Steve Stack you want to know why I fight Tully now? You want to know why don't see me here for 2 weeks? When I first come to wrestle here Tully help me with my visa, tell me his Dad get me visa for be a wrestler. But after I lose the match 3 weeks ago to David Von Erich, Tully fire me as his bodyguard and then I find out my visa really was for be his bodyguard. Because Tully fire me for his bodyguard I can't stay here and have to go back to Japan but I get promoters in Japan to help me, they talk to Stanley Blackburn and get me new visa. This time like what Tully told me the first time, to be wrestler here in Southwest Championship Wrestling. So Tully you lie to me, you play trick on me, you try and force me to go back to Japan but now you pay. Now I take from you what I know is most important in the world to you, I take your Southwest Title! I help you many times keep that belt but no more! Now I will be the Southwest Champion! Maybe I even take your woman too and you have nothing! I know how she always look at me when we all together, she want big strong Japanese man like Saito not little wimp like you! Mr Saito leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Well fans it looks like we finally got the answers for why Mr. Saito is now after Tully Blanchard and why he disappeared back to Japan for a few weeks. Tully certainly has his work cut out for him this Sunday night as we've all seen what Mr. Saito is capable of when he's angry as we saw just a month ago right here on television when he ended the career of Yoshi Seito. Fans we've got to take another commercial break but don't go anywhere because when we come back we're going to talk to 'Rugged' Ron Starr and we're also going to have an update on the condition of Ricky Morton after being piledriven on the concrete floor of the HemisFair Arena by Eddie Gilbert. -Fourth commercial break- Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling with a man who unfortunately has been missing from television for the past few weeks, 'Rugged' Ron Starr! Ron Sunday night we saw you team up with El Gran Apollo and help him in his seemingly never ending battle with Jose Lothario as you two took on the team of Jose and The Cuban Assassin. Things didn't go so well for you in that match as The Cuban Assassin worked you over pretty good with his Spike and left you so bloody you had to be helped from the ring. Ron Starr: First of all, let me just say I'm not too happy about the way I've been treated here since my return to Southwest Championship Wrestling. I've never received a proper TV Title match despite the way I was robbed of a fair chance in the tournament finals due to the attack by Abdullah the Butcher. I was cheated out of any chance of getting a shot at the Southwest Heavyweight Title due to the machinations of Sheik Adnan and Sgt. Slaughter. And this past Sunday night I try and help out El Gran Apollo and get repaid for my services by having The Cuban Assassin try and give me a new hole in my head. Well I've got my chance for revenge this Sunday night with a one on one match with The Cuban Assassin, and he doesn't need to be banned from ringside for Apollo's match with Jose because when I get done with him he won't be going anywhere but straight to the hospital! Killer Khan isn't the only person who is going to wind up carried out of the arena on a stretcher Sunday night, let me tell you that! And once I finish with the Cuban Assassin, I don't care who the TV Champion is whether it be Roy Lee Welch or Mike Masters they better be more worried about defending that belt against me than trying to go after Robert Fuller! Ron Starr leaves the interview area and Ken Lucas comes in Steve Stack: Ken thanks for being on the program today, I know right now this is a very difficult time for you. I'd like to play the video of what happened to Ricky Morton at the HemisFair Arena before we talk about it, is that ok? Ken Lucas: Well Steve I really don't want to see that video but I suppose you have to show it for the people who weren't in the arena Sunday night. Steve Stack: Fans at home, before we run the tape let me warn you this is disturbing footage. Steve Stack: Ken earlier in the night before that happened we saw you and Eddie Gilbert suffer a loss to the masked tag team of Yin and Yang and you were forced to end your partnership due to the stipulations of that match. Do you think that had anything to do with Eddie Gilbert's decision to attack Ricky Morton? Ken Lucas: I have no idea Steve Stack. After the match Eddie and I hugged in the middle of the ring and we promised that just because our team was through that we would remain friends. I told Eddie that I would always be here for him and that I would help him in any way that I could. I went to take a shower and when I came back Eddie was gone from the locker room and I assumed he just left the arena. So I was shocked when I saw him run out to the ring and attack Ricky Morton. And since that happened I've been unable to get in touch with Eddie. He won't return my phone calls, he's not been at his apartment, I've even called his father who I also used to be in a tag team with and is a great friend of mine and he hasn't heard from Eddie either. So I don't know what is going through the man's mind, I know he didn't show up here to The Junction for TV today so who can really say. I know maybe some people would imagine that I'm angry with Eddie and that I want to get revenge for what he did to Ricky Morton but the only thing I feel in my heart right now is tremendous sadness. Ricky Morton and Eddie Gilbert are both like my sons to me, I've been up and down the road with both of them, teaching them everything I know about professional wrestling and to see one of them very possibly end the career of the other has broken my heart. I don't know why Eddie did it but I need to know why. So Eddie if you're watch this on TV today, call me, come to my house, get in touch with me somehow. I don't hate you son, I just need to know why you would hurt Ricky Morton like this. Why would you hurt me like this? I'm sorry to get emotional out here Steve but this truly the worst time in my career and I'm considering just retiring from wrestling this has gotten me so down. Steve Stack: Well Ken I'd hate for that to be the outcome here, I know the fans here in the area certainly don't want to see you retire on these kinds of terms. I have to ask you, I know you've been at the hospital, just how is Ricky Morton doing after suffering that piledriver on the concrete floor? Ken Lucas: Steve I don't know if I can even talk about that here on camera without breaking down. All I can tell you is that he's not doing so good...the doctors don't know if he'll be able to wrestle ever again and....I'm sorry Steve I can't continue this interview, I've got to get out of here. Ken Lucas leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Fans I'm sorry we couldn't get a more thorough update on Ricky Morton for you but I'm sure you can understand the emotions that Ken Lucas is going through right now. I've known Ken Lucas for many years and I've never seen him torn up inside like this. Eddie Gilbert if you're watching this show please get in touch with Ken Lucas or if you don't want to do that, then come on the program next week and explain why you did what you did to Ricky Morton. Right now we've got to take our last commercial break of the day but don't go away because when we come back we have our television main event of Tiny Anderson & Man Mountain Link taking on Gentleman Jim Holliday's team of 'Diamond' Timothy Flowers and Goldie Rogers! -Fifth and final commercial break- Steve Stack: Our show is running a little long today so let's not waste any time and go right down to the ring now for our main event! Flowers & Rogers quickly leave the ring and celebrate at ringside with 'Gentleman' Jim Holliday as Man Mountain Link stands in the ring looking down at his brother, disappointed. Steve Stack: What a disappointing loss for the brother team of Tiny Anderson & Man Mountain Link! It looks like 'Gentleman' Jim Holliday is much happier with the performance of Flowers & Rogers as a team this time around. 11. Southwest Championship Wrestling @ San Antonio, TX - The HemisFair Arena 12/18/83 Pat Rose & Ron Sexton vs. Larry Hamilton & Steve Pardee - Steve Pardee started the match against Pat Rose and they both tried to establish control over the other, with Rose having the weight advantage and Pardee having the height advantage but neither man was able to get the other in a hold without having it quickly broken or countered. Pardee then tagged out to Larry Hamilton, whose AAU amateur background gave him an advantage over Pat Rose, who he quickly took down with a waistlock and spun around him to lock in a front facelock. Rose used his weight to push Hamilton back into the ropes to cause a break and challenged Hamilton to try that again. Hamilton quickly took Rose down with another waistlock and regained the front facelock only for Rose to again push himself towards the ropes for a break. Rose challenged Hamilton to get down into the referee's position and Rose got on top of him only for Hamilton to quickly spin out and gain control of the situation with Rose again having to use the ropes to get free of Hamilton's grasp. Rose got frustrated and tagged out to Ron Sexton who challenged Hamilton to get back into the referee's position. This time however as Hamilton was prone on the mat, Sexton kicked him hard in the ribs and then started stomping on Hamilton's back! Sexton grabbed Hamilton up off the mat and slammed him face first into the turnbuckle and he and Rose made a series of quick tags and continued working Hamilton over in their corner. Sexton eventually got Hamilton into a headlock and started wrenching on it but Hamilton was able to counter it with a big back suplex and then crawled to the corner to tag in Steve Pardee! Pardee came in fired up and started pounding on Ron Sexton as he got back to his feet! Pat Rose came in to try to help his partner and then Larry Hamilton came back in and Carl Fergie had to try and regain control of the match as things broke down with all 4 men in the ring. Carl Fergie got Larry Hamilton separated from Pat Rose just as Steve Pardee grabbed Ron Sexton into a headlock and set him up for the Bulldog! As Steve Pardee ran towards the center of the ring to drop Sexton with the Bulldog, Pat Rose came off the second rope with a clothesline that nearly took Pardee's head off! Sexton then quickly crawled on top of Pardee for the cover as Carl Fergie turned around to make the pin and Pat Rose cut off Larry Hamilton from making the save! Winners: Pat Rose & Ron Sexton in 10:52 after Ron Sexton pinned Steve Pardee following a clothesline off the 2nd rope from Pat Rose Goldie Rogers vs. Roy Lee Welch - Roy Lee Welch starts the match in control, getting Goldie Rogers down on the mat and working over his leg to soften him up for the Spinning Toehold. After a few minutes of dominating Rogers on the mat, Welch goes for the Spinning Toehold but Rogers kicks him as he starts to spin and Welch goes flying out through the ropes and lands hard on the floor. Rogers struts and preens for the crowd as Welch tries to get back to his feet to beat the 10 count administered by referee Jack Howe. Welch makes it back up to the apron but Rogers rushes in with a hard knee to the midsection that sends Welch down off the apron to land hard on the arena floor. Rogers starts talking to a woman in the front row about where she can find him after the matches as Welch again fights his way back to the apron only to be knocked off the apron again by Goldie Rogers. Jack Howe warns Goldie Rogers that he has to let Welch back in the ring or he'll disqualify him only for The Man From Hollywood to ignore the referee and go back to his strutting and mocking of the crowd as Jack Howe starts his 10 count over again on Welch. Welch fights back up to his feet and this time catches Rogers foot as he attempts a kick through the ropes! Welch starts slamming Rogers' leg down over the ring apron as Jack Howe starts over his 10 count, this time at a faster pace to try and get Welch to get back in the ring. Welch finally lets go of Rogers' leg and rolls back into the ring only to grab hold of his leg again and pull him back into the center of the ring where he quickly puts him in the Spinning Toehold and Goldie Rogers has no choice but to submit. Winner: Roy Lee Welch in 7:34 after making Goldie Rogers submit to the Spinning Toehold Losing team must disband: Eddie Gilbert & Ken Lucas vs. Yin & Yang - Yin & Yang demand a thorough check of Eddie Gilbert before the match begins, looking to avoid a repeat of the previous week. After Carl Fergie is done, Lucas demands the same check of Yin & Yang seeing as they also have a history of hiding foreign objects somewhere on their person. After all that is finally over, Ken Lucas started the match against Yin and they wrestled on the mat with neither man able to gain the advantage in their battle of holds. They locked up again and this time Yin grabbed a handful of hair to pull Ken Lucas into a headlock. Eddie Gilbert complained to Carl Fergie who didn't see the hair pull but Yin vehemently denied it and pulled Lucas over to his corner and tagged in Yang. Yang came in and blasted Lucas in the head with a kick as he was still in the headlock which dropped Lucas to the mat where Yang then dropped on him with a big leaping legdrop and tried for the cover but Lucas kicked out before the count of 2 could even be administered. Yang kept a knee on the throat of Lucas and tagged Yin back in who then put Ken Lucas into a figure four. Lucas tried to pull himself into the ropes but just as he was about to reach them, Yin broke the hold momentarily to drop Lucas back into the middle of the ring and put him right back in the figure four. Lucas then started to try and over and reverse the pressure of the figure four but just as he was about to turn it over, Yang ran in and blasted him with a kick to the face that allowed Yin to firmly regain control of the hold. As Carl Fergie was getting Yang out of the ring however Eddie Gilbert ran in and landed a big fist drop on Yin which caused him to break the hold and ran back out of the ring just as Carl Fergie was turning around. Lucas tried to crawl to the corner to make the tag but Yin was able to cut him off and whipped him into the corner with Yang and distracted the referee as Yang started to choke Lucas with the tag rope. Eddie Gilbert tried to rush in and help his partner which only allowed Yin to go over to the corner and start pounding on Lucas as Yang continued to choke him with the tag rope. Just as Fergie started to turn around, Yang let go of Lucas and Yin hit an arm drag on Lucas to get him out of the corner and tagged in Yang. Yang quickly climbed up to the top rope and looked to finish off Ken Lucas with the Diving Headbutt but Lucas was able to roll out of the way and Yang crashed hard on the mat! Lucas started to crawl to the corner to finally tag Eddie Gilbert into the match as Yang crawled to his own corner. Yang made the tag first but just as Yin was about to cut off Ken Lucas, Lucas was able to dive into the corner to tag in Eddie Gilbert! Gilbert came in fired up and started pounding away on Yin! Yin, the scientific wrestle of his team, was unable to do much to fight back as Eddie Gilbert just unloaded on him! Yang tried to rush in and help his partner but Gilbert caught him come in with a big uppercut and then grabbed him and tossed him out through the ropes! Gilbert then body slammed Yin and started to climb up to the top rope! Yin started to get back up to his feet and just as Eddie Gilbert was about to come off with the Top Rope Dropkick, Yang shook the ropes from the outside of the ring which caused Eddie to lose his balance and crotch himself on the top rope! Ken Lucas chased after Yang outside the ring as Eddie fell awkwardly off the top rope and onto the mat where Yin quickly pulled him away from the ropes and made the cover! Carl Fergie made the count and Eddie was unable to kickout before the count of 3! Winners: Yin & Yang in 9:07 after Yin pinned Eddie Gilbert Ken Lucas rushed back into the ring as he realized that Eddie was being pinned but got back in too late to break the pin. Yin & Yang quickly exited the ringside area as Ken Lucas stood in the ring looking dejected about the loss, as he knew it meant the end of his team with Eddie Gilbert. Ken Lucas helped Eddie Gilbert back to his feet but Eddie shoved him away! Eddie Gilbert stared at Ken Lucas as Lucas tried to apologize to him for going after Yang outside the ring and not breaking up the pin. Ken Lucas said just because they couldn't team anymore didn't mean they couldn't still be friends. Lucas stuck out his hand for Eddie to shake and Eddie started at it for a moment before grabbing the hand and pulling Ken Lucas in for a hug! Eddie looked emotional as he and Ken Lucas then left the ring together to applause from the crowd. Lumberjack Match for the Southwest TV Title: Man Mountain Link vs. Mike Masters - There were 12 lumberjacks outside the ring for the match with 3 to each side. Tiny Anderson, Steve Pardee & Larry Hamilton took a side, with Roy Lee Welch, Tony Torres & Mike Jackson on their right with Pat Rose, Ron Sexton, Goldie Rogers, Timothy Flowers, 'Gentleman" Jim Holliday and Snake Brown taking up the other 2 sides. Mike Masters starts the match trying to stay away from Man Mountain Link but eventually he gets cornered by Link. Masters jumps out through the ropes but quickly finds himself confronted by Welch, Torres & Jackson on the outside who grab him and roll him back into the ring where Man Mountain Link grabs him and pulls him up to his feet. Masters tries to beg his way out of the grip of the big Man Mountain Link but Link just laughs at him. Masters then starts pounding on the arms of Link to get free but Link just grabs him and hurls him halfway across the ring! Masters tries to roll out again only to find himself on the side of the ring with Tiny Anderson, Steve Pardee & Larry Hamilton who quickly deposit him back into the ring! Masters looks around wildly as he realizes he can't run away from Man Mountain Link this time and again tries to beg Link for forgiveness. Masters offers a handshake to Link but as Link just smiles at him, Masters tries to kick him in the stomach but Link grabs his foot and then blasts Masters with a clothesline as he's off balance! Masters quickly gets back up to his feet only to get grabbed by Link and dropped with a bodyslam. Link runs off the ropes for a splash onto Masters but has his foot grabbed by Timothy Flowers! Link stops and stomps on Flowers' hand as Tiny Anderson runs around the ring and attacks Flowers as he hops around holding his hand! A brawl breaks out at ringside between the lumberjacks and as Jack Howe is distracted by it, Jim Holliday hands Mike Masters a pair of brass knuckles which he uses to KO Man Mountain Link as he turns around! Masters tosses the knucks back out to Holliday and makes the cover! Masters shouts at Jack Howe who turns back around from the brawl at ringside and makes the count of 3! Winner: Mike Masters in 5:33 after knocking out Man Mountain Link with brass knuckles El Gran Apollo & ? vs. Jose Lothario & The Cuban Assassin - Jose Lothario & The Cuban Assassin came out first and then El Gran Apollo came out on his own as Jose & The Cuban Assassin mocked him for not being able to find a partner. Apollo then motioned to the back for someone to come out and "Rugged" Ron Starr made his way to the ring! Jose Lothario & The Cuban Assassin had a fit inside the ring as Ron Starr shook hands with Apollo outside the ring. El Gran Apollo tried to get Jose Lothario to start the match against him but Jose refused and instead sent in the Cuban Assassin to start the match. The Cuban Assassin found himself at a disadvantage at the start of the match as Apollo used his speed to avoid the bigger man and played hit and run while peppering The Cuban Assassin with jabs. Jose Lothario complained to referee Carl Fergie about the use of a closed fist and El Gran Apollo challenged Jose to get in the ring with him but Jose instead counseled The Cuban Assassin from the corner and refused to tag in. Apollo kept up the hit and run tactics on Assassin while trying to goad Jose into the ring and eventually The Cuban Assassin refused to come out of the corner, calling for Apollo to tag out to Ron Starr. Ron Starr gladly accepted the tag from Apollo and came in and took over where Apollo left off, using his speed to get the better of the big Cuban Assassin. Starr goaded The Cuban Assassin into charging at him and then countered with a drop toehold and grabbed the Assassin into a chinlock. Jose Lothario started to complain to Carl Fergie and while he was distracted, The Cuban Assassin took his infamous Spike out of his pants and stabbed Ron's leg with it to break out of the hold. Apollo tried to come in and help but was cut off as Carl Fergie turned around and saw him coming into the ring and stopped him. The Cuban Assassin then dug the Spike into Starr's head as Carl Fergie had his back turned and then tagged out to Jose Lothario. The crowd and Apollo tried to tell Carl Fergie about The Cuban Assassin's Spike, but he was able to hide it under the ring apron as his foot before Carl Fergie could come over to check him for it. While Fergie was busy looking for the Spike, Jose choked Ron Starr on the mat and pounded at the cut he had on his head from the Spike. Carl Fergie turned back around after being unable to find the Spike and backed Jose away from Ron Starr as he checked the cut. Jose then mocked El Gran Apollo and shadow boxed at him, goading the young hothead into the ring and as Carl Fergie rushed to stop him from coming in, Jose was tossed the Spike by The Cuban Assassin and jammed it into Ron Starr's forehead again before quickly tossing it back out to The Assassin. Jose covered Ron Starr and Carl Fergie turned back around to make the pin but somehow Ron Starr was able to kick out before the count of 3! The crowd cheered for Ron Starr to make the tag but Jose dropped him with a big uppercut as he made his way back to his feet and then made another cover but Starr again was able to kick out. Jose tagged The Cuban Assassin back in and distracted Carl Fergie long enough for The Cuban Assassin to grind into Ron Starr's face with the Spike! El Gran Apollo again tried to rush in to help and this time was able to attack The Cuban Assassin but not for long as Carl Fergie quickly pushed him back and threatened to disqualify him! Apollo and Fergie argued as Apollo tried to again tell Fergie about the Spike but while this was going on it allowed The Cuban Assassin to continue grinding the Spike into Ron Starr's forehead, who was now covered in blood. The Cuban Assassin tossed out the Spike to Jose as Carl Fergie turned around and started to check him again. After Fergie was unable to find the Spike, The Cuban Assassin dropped an elbow on Ron Starr and covered him for the pin but Starr was once again somehow able to get his shoulder up before the count of 3. Jose Lothario called for the tag and as he came in, The Cuban Assassin kept Fergie distracted so that Jose could drive the Spike into Ron Starr's head again! Jose hid the Spike in his boot and started to go for a cover when suddenly El Gran Apollo rushed into the ring with a chair and started swinging it wildly! Jose was able to dive out of the ring to avoid it and The Cuban Assassin jumped off the apron just in time to avoid the swing from El Gran Apollo as Carl Fergie called off the match and disqualified the team of El Gran Apollo & Ron Starr! Result: Jose Lothario & The Cuban Assassin by DQ in 11:28 after El Gran Apollo ran into the ring with a chair Jose and The Cuban Assassin celebrated at ringside and mocked El Gran Apollo until he came flying out of the ring after them with the chair at which point they quickly ran back to the locker room. El Gran Apollo momentarily thought about chasing after them but instead went back to the ring to check on Ron Starr. Apollo argued with Carl Fergie for a moment about the Spike and the disqualification but then he and Fergie both helped Ron Starr back to his feet. Ron Starr was a bloody mess after being repeatedly assaulted with the Spike and he had to be helped back to the dressing room with El Gran Apollo and Carl Fergie under each arm. Jim Duggan vs. Killer Khan - Jim Duggan comes out first to a big ovation from the crowd in the HemisFair. "Death Rides a Horse" by Ennio Morricone begins to play as the crowd and "Hacksaw" watch the aisle for the entrance of Killer Khan but he doesn't come out. Duggan starts shouting "Come out tough guy!" as he paces back and forth with his eyes on the aisle when suddenly Killer Khan comes from out of the crowd behind him! Killer Khan makes his attack just as the crowd see him and try to warn the big Hacksaw but it's too late as Killer Khan blasts him in the back of the head with a big Mongolian Chop! Duggan stumbles into the ropes which Killer Khan wrap around his neck, choking him! Referee Jack Howe tries to intervene to free Duggan but Killer Khan shoves him out of the way. Killer Khan then backs off and blasts Duggan with a big running boot that causes Duggan to be loosed from the ropes and fall to the apron and then down onto the floor of the HemisFair Arena. The crowd try to cheer Duggan back to his feet as Killer Khan follows him out and raises his tape covered thumb into the air! Duggan stumbles back to his feet, still reeling from the attack and the momentary lack of oxygen and turns right into the attack of Killer Khan as he rushes in and stabs Duggan in the throat with the thumb, the same attack that put Scott Casey & Bob Sweetan out of Southwest Championship Wrestling! Suddenly Ken Lucas, Eddie Gilbert, Roy Lee Welch, Steve Pardee & Larry Hamilton come rushing out to the ring and chase off Killer Khan, who retreats out of their reach and then holds up his thumb into the air in celebration as the crowd quietly boos him but is more concerned at the moment for the welfare of Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Killer Khan eventually retreats back through the crowd, glaring menacingly at any of the fans who get to close to him as Duggan is attended to at ringside. Gilbert, Lucas & Welch try to help Duggan back to his feet he pushes them away and gets up on his own! Duggan holds his throat as he slowly makes his way back to the locker room, but he makes sure to walk of his own power without any help as the crowd cheers him on. Result: No contest as the match never even gets under way Southwest Tag Team Titles: The Rock N Roll Express vs. The Assassins - The Assassins jump The Rock N Roll Express before the bell and have a wild brawl with them around ringside before the match even begins. The Assassins toss Robert Gibson into the wooden steps and then they each grab an arm of Ricky Morton and slam his back into the ringpost. The Assassins then leave the RNR down at ringside and go into the ring and hold up the Southwest Tag Team Titles to loud boos from the crowd in the HemisFair Arena. The Assassins try to get Carl Fergie to award them the match by forfeit but he refuses and goes outside the ring to check on The Rock N Roll Express who once they are able to recover a bit, demand that the match still take place. After a short delay while Carl Fergie talks to Ricky & Robert to make sure they can compete, he rings the bell and the match starts with Robert Gibson against Assassin #2. #2 tries to goad Ricky Morton into starting the match, knowing that he's the one who got the worst of the pre-match assault but the RNR don't take the bait and Ricky nails Assassin #2 with a dropkick as he's busy mouthing off to Ricky Morton! Robert is all over Assassin #2 at the start of the match, not letting him regain his balance and just peppering the big Assassin #2 with punches, kicks and dropkicks. Assassin #2 gets away from Gibson long enough to tag in Assassin #1 but he doesn't fare any better as Robert puts him on the mat with a dropkick and then gets a headlock on him. Assassin #1 eventually is able to shove Gibson off into the ropes to break the headlock and tries to catch him with a clothesline as he comes back but Gibson is able to duck the clothesline and come back with a crossbody that almost gets a 3 count but Assassin #1 is able to kick out just at the last moment. Assassin #1 rolls out of the ring where he and Assassin #2 have a strategy session while Robert and Ricky Morton lead the crowd in a chant of "Rock N Roll!" The Assassins start shouting at the crowd to shut up and while they're distracted by the crowd, Ricky and Robert sneak up on them outside the ring and smash their heads together which makes the crowd even louder and the Assassin more infuriated! Robert gets back in the ring and holds the ropes open for the Assassin, mocking him which causes The Assassin to stomp off and threaten to walk out of the match! Carl Fergie got up to the count of 8 before The Assassin changed his mind and went back to the ring. The Assassin called for a test of strength once he got back into the ring and the crowd told Robert Gibson not to do it. The Assassin continued to insist as Robert looked to the crowd for what to do and finally he accepted and put his hands up for the test of strength. As he did as The Assassin swung with a wild punch but Robert ducked it and then came back with a big right hand of his own which spun The Assassin around and then Robert followed up with a dropkick to his back which sent The Assassin flying into his corner where he crashed into Assassin #2! The Assassins started to argue with each other as Ricky and Robert again got the crowd to chant "Rock N Roll!" and The Assassins stopped arguing long enough to make a tag and Assassin #2 came back in. Assassin #2 circle around Robert Gibson until Gibson had his back to the Assassin' corner and then Assassin charged in and shoved Robert into the corner! The Assassins tried to take advantage of Gibson being caught in their corner but Robert was able to fight his way out of the corner as ducked around Assassin #2 and then drop kicked him and sent him crashing back into his corner where he and Assassin #1 got into another argument. Assassin #1 tagged back in and tried to get Robert to tag out to Ricky Morton. Robert looked to the crowd for guidance and Assassin #1 tried to rush and attack him as he did so but Robert dodged out of the way but as he did so, but got too close to Assassin #2 who grabbed him from behind! Robert spun and knocked Assassin #2 off the ring apron with a punch but left himself vulnerable as Assassin #1 came flying into the corner and caught Robert with a huge Avalanche splash. Assassin #1 started stomping the hell out of Robert, taking his frustration of being humiliated out on him and then tagged out to Assassin #2 as he got back up on the apron. The Assassins kept Robert isolated in their corner and worked him over for several minutes as Ricky kept leading the crowds in chants of "Rock N Roll" to try and cheer Robert on. The Assassins tried several times to pin Robert but he kept kicking out and then Assassin #1 had him down in the ring and bounced off the ropes for his big elbow drop but Robert was able to roll out of the way! Ricky cheered Robert on to get the corner and make the tag! Assassin #1 made the tag and Assassin #2 tried to rush in to cut off the crawling Robert but Robert made it to the corner and made the tag before #2 could get there and instead Assassin #2 rushed right into a big punch from Ricky Morton! Morton came in a house of fire and dropped the big Assassin #2 with punches and then put Assassin #1 down on the mat as he rushed in to try and help his partner! Robert got back into the ring and he and Ricky went for the Double Dropkick on Assassin #2, but #2 ducked at the last moment and Carl Fergie took the double dropkick instead! Ricky Morton tried to check on Carl Fergie but got attacked by Assassin #1 and everything completely broke down with the referee down and all 4 men in the ring fighting each other! Jack Howe rushed down to the ring and tried to to restore order but in the chaos Eddie Gilbert suddenly appeared at ringside and pulled Ricky Morton out of the ring and attacked him! Eddie Gilbert kicked Morton in the stomach and then grabbed him into a Piledriver and dropped him with it right on the concrete floor! Robert Gibson saw what happened and rushed out of the ring to help his partner as Eddie Gilbert saw him coming and took off! Jack Howe turned around too late to see the Piledriver, only seeing Eddie Gilbert running back to the locker room and both members of the Rock N Roll Express outside the ring! Jack Howe started to make the count of 10 as Robert was too beside himself at the injury of his partner to pay attention to the count and the Rock N Roll Express were counted out as Jack Howe reached the count of 10! Winners and STILL the Southwest Tag Team Champions: The Assassins by countout in 19:11 after Eddie Gilbert Piledrove Ricky Morton on the concrete floor of The HemisFair Arena! The Assassins celebrated in the ring with the Southwest Tag Team Titles as Robert Gibson desperately called for help for his partner at ringside. Ken Lucas came running out to check on his former protege and Robert shoved him away and started arguing with him about what Eddie Gilbert did. Ken Lucas looked overcome with emotion as he swore to Robert Gibson that he had no idea why it happened. Finally a stretcher was brought to ringside and Ricky Morton was put onto the stretcher with the help of Ken Lucas and Robert Gibson who followed at his side as he was carried away from the ringside area Kerry Von Erich vs. Tully Blanchard w/Sunshine - The crowd was relatively quiet at the start of this match after seeing Ricky Morton carted out of the arena on a stretcher but after Tully spent the first few minutes running away from Kerry Von Erich and refusing to fight him, they were sucked back in and started cheering for Kerry Von Erich to destroy the most hated man in Texas. Tully kept bailing out of the ring every time that Kerry got near him and finally Kerry went out after him and chased him around the ring! Tully dove back into the ring first and then started kicking and stomping at Kerry as he rolled in after him. Kerry started to make his way back to his feet as Tully kicked and pounded on him to try and stop him from doing so but finally Kerry was back on his feet and started firing back with punches to meet Tully's and then dropped Tully with a big discus punch! Tully tried to escape the ring but Kerry grabbed him and pulled him back into the center of the ring and put the Iron Claw on him! Tully quickly fought his way into the ropes to cause a break but Kerry refused to break the Iron Claw! Referee Jack Howe threatened to disqualify Kerry if he didn't let go of the hold but Kerry ignored him and Howe made the count of 5 without Kerry breaking the hold and Jack Howe had no choice but to disqualify Kerry Von Erich! Winner: Tully Blanchard in 6:47 by DQ after Kerry Von Erich refused to break the Iron Claw! Even after the match was over, Kerry refused to break the Iron Claw! The crowd had started to boo after the match ended in a DQ but then started cheering Kerry Von Erich as he continued his punishment of Tully Blanchard with Sunshine screaming at ringside for someone to help her man! With no help in sight for Tully, Sunshine entered the ring and tried to hit Kerry with her loaded purse but Kerry saw her coming and finally broke the hold on Tully Blanchard so he could grab Sunshine and snatch the purse away from her! Sunshine quickly retreated from the ring away from The Modern Day Warrior and Kerry started swinging the purse as he waited for Tully Blanchard to get back to his feet and then BLASTED him upside the head with it as the Southwest Heavyweight Champion stumbled back to his feet! Tully went down in a heap and then Kerry Von Erich put him back in the Iron Claw as the crowd cheered him on! Jack Howe tried to pull Kerry off of Tully only to get shoved out of the ring with Kerry's free hand as Kerry refused to let go of Tully! Wrestlers then started coming out of the locker room to try and pull Kerry off of Tully and Kerry let go of the Iron Claw long enough to dispatch Yin & Yang from the ring and then blasted Snake Brown with a discus punch that sent him flying over the top rope! Kerry put the Iron Claw back on Tully again but this time MR. SAITO came down to the ring and attacked Kerry! Kerry and Mr. Saito had a wild brawl in the ring and then around ringside before the entire locker room emptied and got the two men separated and then got Kerry Von Erich back to the locker room! Sunshine asked Mr. Saito to help her get Tully back to the locker room and they went into the ring together to help Tully. A dazed Tully started to pull himself up on Mr. Saito's leg when suddenly Mr. Saito kicked him off! Sunshine started screaming at Saito and Saito grabbed the Southwest Heavyweight Title away from her and held it in Tully's face and shouted at him in Japanese! Mr. Saito then threw the title down in Tully's face and left the ring leaving Tully and Sunshine alone in the ring.

    Lesnar to return to UFC

Well from all the rumors I've heard his next program is still going to be against Bray Wyatt so that's not exactly a "headlining" feud anyway.
  13. There really isn't much for me to say because my thoughts on this are pretty much the same as GOTNW's. Casas kind of blows Dandy away on longevity and quantity and I don't know if Dandy's peak of 1990 is really THAT much better than Casas at his best.
  14. Maybe I'll eventually get there because I have an outline in my head that goes to around July 84. Whether or not it takes that long for Tully to finally get his we'll just have to wait and see.
  15. Hector & Chavo did pretty good all things considered. I have to assume if you didn't vote for them then you aren't subscribed to NWA On Demand because their stuff on there is incredible and very diverse.

    Lesnar to return to UFC

I think this is reading way too much into it. Dana has enough problems getting Rousey back into the Octagon without risking her being injured doing pro wrestling. Despite the recent pissing contest between Connor and the UFC, I don't see Dana willing to risk him being injured in a wrestling match either. I guess it makes it more likely that they could show up for a non-wrestling appearance but I don't know how much appeal that really has. I'm not sure how far in advance this was planned since I know in the lead up to WrestleMania there was the deal with Brock leaving Raw and not being on the show due to the way contract negotiations were going. I guess it's possible he had already talked to Dana White before then but this definitely feels more like Dana being desperate to do something big for UFC 200 to replace Connor not being on the show and offering Brock a ton of money to come back for a fight. This feels a lot more like Brock cashing in on a one big payday than a full on return to the UFC though. On WWE's side this is a bit of a gamble to have Brock fight in July and still count on not being injured so he can wrestle at SummerSlam but I have a feeling that Brock isn't going to be facing the stiffest of competition so I guess they've tried to mitigate the risk. I can see the appeal though because Brock is going to be a hot topic in the media leading up to UFC 200 and I'm sure they'll have it mentioned on the UFC 200 PPV that Brock will be at SummerSlam. They love mainstream coverage and Brock will be getting a lot of that over the next month.
  17. Another two episodes into the journey of 1989 Continental and I have more questions than answers. We get no follow up on the confrontation between Kokina & Terry Gordy unfortunately as the show opens up with a promo from Black Bart about his match with Terry Gordy on TV that day. You know what, this DAT GUM Black Bart is starting to grow on me with his DAT GUM promos. He and Terry Gordy have a short match that ends in a double countout and then we get promos from each of them hyping up a match in DAT GUM Chatanooga. I would have rather seen Gordy vs Yokozuna but Gordy vs Black Bart was a decent substitute. Honestly the highlight of these shows for me are the Black Bart promos now. The Rich Cousins won the big Cage match that was being hyped up against Dirty White Boy and Jerry Stubbs so they're now the Continental Tag Champs and it seems like they're setting up a feud now between The Rich Cousins and The Japanese Connection of Mike Davis & Masahiro Chono. That should be pretty good considering the feud between The Party Boys and The RPMs was really good in USA and all they've done is switched out Tommy Lane for Chono. Ron Fuller wrestles a squash match on one episode and then defends the USA Title on the second episode against Dirty White Boy. White Boy goes after Ron's bad knee that they've spent the last 2 weeks of TV time putting over as the weak point of The Tennessee Stud, talking about his 3 knee surgeries. The Stud makes a comeback at the end however and gets DWB in the Fuller Leglock but Stubbs runs down and attacks him which causes the match to end in a DQ. Unfortunately I'm missing the next 2 episode of TV but I'm fairly certain Ron ends up having his "career ended" by DWB attacking his knee. In some WTF news they replay Alaskan Hunters squashes from previous episodes on both of these shows. We also get the appearance of two midgets as Butch Cassidy takes on, I shit you not, "The Mask Midget." No, not The Masked Midget. The Mask Midget. His graphic said this BOTH weeks. The first week the midgets wrestle in a singles match and on the 2nd episode they have a tag match where Butch Cassidy teams up with Doug Furnas and the Mask Midget teams up with some scrubs. Doug Furnas has the best dropkick I've ever seen in 1989. He looks like he could catch El Gigante in the face with it if he had to. Tom Prichard is still the Continental Champion here but he seems to be just kind of floating along without a regular opponent since Brad Armstrong left. The only thing he's doing on TV is co-hosting the show with Charlie Platt which Austin Idol was doing until he seemingly disappeared. Oh, and Pat Rose is here doing jobs pretty much every week and despite liking him in the past I'm getting really sick of seeing him. He spends the entire fucking match pulling up his trunks. Bruh you can pull them up to your nipples, hell pull them all the way up over your head, it's not going to hide the fact that your fat so just give it up.
  18. Dutch Mantell was clearly not from Oil Trough, Texas.
  19. I don't really see how they could have had Rollins come back and not immediately go for the title. That's kind of the ready made story for a guy who got injured as champion and never lost the belt. It wouldn't have made a lot of sense to me to keep Reigns & Rollins apart and I thought it was kind of stupid how they did it right after WrestleMania last year. Rollins screws up Reigns' WrestleMania title match and Reigns wastes like 6 months battling Big Show & Bray Wyatt before going after the title again?
  20. Leva Bates has a shoot interview? I imagine rovert frothing at the mouth upon finding that out.
  21. State Patrol had a finish? I thought you had to win matches for that I also forgot to mention that with The Bullet seemingly having disappeared they have turned The Dog (Moondog Spot) into a babyface. They have him coming out to the ring with the Continental Cat but the fans do not seem to be reaction to The Dog as a babyface AT ALL. He definitely isn't getting the Wendell Cooley high pitched screams.
  22. Watched some more last night and things are just so different in 89 than any of the Southeastern or Continental I've watched before. Everything else I've seen from this territory has everyone on the roster specifically involved in their own feud/angle whatever and here it's not like that at all. It's kind of hard to even keep track of who is actually in Continental at this time period. It seems like the best thing that was going on here (the feud between Dr. Tom & Brad Armstrong) is over now as neither Brad Armstrong or The Bullet were on the last two episodes that I watched. Willie B. Hert (Pez Whatley) was also involved in a feud with Black Bart on the first few episodes of 89 and he also seems to have disappeared which left Black Bart without an opponent so they just kind of randomly have Doug Furnas interrupt his promo and challenge him to a match. But that doesn't turn into a feud as on the next episode they seem to be putting Danny Davis & Doug Furnas together as a tag team. Detroit Demolition also seems to have faded away from the area but I'm not too torn up about that one. The Alaskan Hunters had a squash match on each episode I watched and I have no idea who they are but they seem pretty good. I like their finisher of one of the Hunters holding up the opponent in a vertical suplex and the other Hunter hitting him with a shoulderblock off the top rope. They are hyping a match between The Alaskan Hunters & Doug Furnas & Danny Davis for the house shows on the last episode I saw. They kind of needed to throw Davis & Furnas together as a tag because they had Jerry Stubbs & Dirty White Boy, The Alaskan Hunters and Masahiro Chono & Mike Davis as their 3 pushed heel tag teams and the only real babyface team was Johnny & Davey Rich. Mike Davis looks weird with his hair dyed black. They had Terry Gordy on the show saying he wanted to take on all comers and at the very end of his promo he gets confronted by Kokina Maximus (the future Yokozuna) and man I want to see them have a match. I have no idea what they are doing with Kokina though because he's had like 1 squash on the 5 episodes I've watched and this confrontation with Gordy but outside of that he's a total non-entity on the TV. I can't even remember if he was being advertised for some of the house shows. Wendell Cooley made his return to Continental and there were some ladies in the audience in Mobile that were VERY happy about that news. I also forgot to mention in my "WTF is this?" section on the last post that they had a jobber on one of these shows named "King Harley" and that seems to be a shot at Harley Race but I have no idea why. In another bit of "WTF?" news they are hyping Ron Fuller coming in to defend the USA Title after the USA promotion has been dead nearly 6 months now. I know that he DOES come in because I saw him cutting a promo wearing the Tennessee Stud mask when I was converting the discs before but unfortunately I think I'm missing the episode where he actually wrestles The Dirty White Boy. I honestly had no idea that Fuller ever came into the David Woods Continental.
  23. http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/glow-netflix-series-female-wrestling-league-1201785407/ I know there are some G.L.O.W. fans on the board so I figured this was worth creating a topic about. I'm interested in it even though I never cared about GLOW just because I think a comedy series about wrestling has a lot of potential.
  24. Included in the small amount of my collection that didn't get destroyed is 1989 Continental and I watched the first 3 episodes of it last night. No full write-ups or anything but there is some good stuff going on, some bad stuff going on and some "what the fuck is this!?" stuff going on. In the good category we have Brad Armstrong back in the territory and he's as good here as I've ever seen him. He's involved in a feud with Tom Prichard over the Continental Title. From the best that I can tell Tom was a babyface champ when Brad came in but Tom turned on him to start a heel run and he's doing this gimmick where he claims to have a list of names with numbers beside them (that he never actually shows) and spins a wheel to see who his opponent will be that week and then claims that the number belongs to some jobber like Lee Peak. Everything involving Brad & Dr. Tom is really good, Brad Armstrong is cutting GOOD promos(!) and Tom is doing a great job playing up the cowardly champ who doesn't want to to defend his belt. My favorite part of this feud so far is a Dr. Tom vs. The Bullet main event on TV that is SUPER short as Dr. Tom pulls the referee into The Bullet after Bullet catches him in a sleeper, then while Bullet is down he takes the mask off of him to reveal: Brad Armstrong! Between the not so great video quality and Brad doing such a fantastic job of doing Bullet's mannerisms (including The Bullet's usual dance on the ring aprong) I had no idea it was not Bob Armstrong under the mask. In the bad category we have one of the weirdest angles I've ever seen as "Super" Dave Baxter (I don't know either) is managed by Alan Martin and after winning a squash match where jobber JD Wolfe looks like the FAR better wrestler (Super Dave's timing was fucking terrible) he gets turned on Alan Martin? I put the question mark there because I have no idea what the fuck actually happened in this segment as Alan Martin hits Baxter in the back of the head with his briefcase when he raises his hand in celebration after the match and I can't tell if it was supposed to be played up as an accident or on purpose. Anyway, "Super Shitty" Dave then attacks Alan Martin which brings out 2 of Martin's other guys, Detroit Demolition and Blade Warrior, to the ring where they beat down Dave Baxter. I don't even know if this leads anywhere because Dave Baxter was not on the next episode and it wasn't mentioned again. Oh also in the bad category is the fact that Black Bart is in the territory. Not because I dislike Bart or anything but because he was like the harbinger of death to a territory around this time period. In the "what the fuck is this!?" category we have Jerry Stubbs and the Dirty White Boy back together as a team (and holding the Continental tag titles) after they had a long feud in 87 (and maybe into 88, not sure) and for some reason that I do not understand Jerry Stubbs is wearing a toupee! Yes, the man who wrestled without hair in this territory for nearly a decade is now suddenly sporting a full head of hair. Your guess is as good as mine. In other weird happenings we've got Mike Jackson winning a match on TV against masked jobber The Count. Yes that's right Mike Jackson is winning matches on TV. They also played some cool music videos one being of Jerry Lawler to Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" to hype him coming in as the World Champion and that's a pretty good song to use in a video for a traveling World Champion. Then there's a music video for Terry Gordy and I forget the song because I was too busy marking out about how the video looked like the god damn wildest thing I've ever seen in wrestling as it's Terry Gordy just HURLING chairs in a Japanese crowd and pretty much taking out a whole section at ringside as he just goes nuts while Riki Chosu stands in the ring watching him. I don't know what the story is behind that video but it's one of the all time "make the Japanese crowd run for it's life" moments I've ever seen. I can't wait for the next episode of Exile on Badstreet that is going to get into this time period and if you've been following this thread and haven't listened to those podcasts yet you HAVE to listen to the last 3 episodes of the show (24-26) which you can find here: http://placetobenation.com/category/podcasts/exile-on-badstreet/ And because I fucking love when The Bullet shows up for a promo in his "civilian" masks here is a picture of one of those:

    WWE TV: May 30-June 5

I'm really hoping that Jericho wins MITB this year. He's the PERFECT guy for it because he and the briefcase have so much in common. They're both old, tired, outdated, have worn out their welcome and need to go away forever.
