    The Warlord

Good candidate for my "guys who made better action figures than wrestlers" thread as he got a big push from me and I thought his Hasbro figure was pretty awesome. His LJN figure wasn't too shabby either: Doing a Bing Video search for Warlord brings up a lot of stuff I didn't know about like a match with Chris Adams from AWF, some stuff from Otta Wanz CWA promotion and a match with Carlos Colon in WWC in 1992. I may eventually go down the random Warlord match rabbit hole just for the heck of it. There is also a Hercules & Mr. Hughes vs. Warlord & Jeff Gaylord tag match from AWF which has the potential to be truly awful. Here is one of his WCW matches as Super Assassin though, against The American Males from Worldwide: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xbfd14_american-males-vs-super-assassins_sport
  2. Just watched Jake Roberts/Duggan vs Nightmare/Lord Humongous 10/11/85 and thought this was way better than it looks on paper considering the heels. Duggan is a great ass kicker in this and they really do a great job of working around Humongous not being very good by keeping his parts of the match pretty limited. Super disappointing end though as the tape just cuts out and we don't get a finish. Watching this I also though that Randy Colley was probably more influenced by Humongous when he was coming up with the Demolition gimmick than The Road Warriors as Demolition had almost the exact same outfits at Humongous in this match just with face paint instead of a hockey mask.
  3. Went all the way back to the first set of uploads to try and go forward and watch some of the stuff I didn't see yet. I watched the Gino Gernandez, Gran Markus & Killer Tim Brooks vs. Jose Lothario, El Halcon & Mil Mascaras Two Ring, 6 man tag from 6/29/79 earlier today and thought it was a lot of fun. Kind of hard to keep track of everything going on as there are essentially 2 matches going on at the same time which obviously didn't make Paul Boesch's job of calling it very easy. But it's pretty much all action as even Killer Brooks is forced to keep moving and not just sit in a hold as he is wont to do. Pretty unique match type that you could only run a few times a year when there was a 2 ring battle royal scheduled. My biggest takeaways from the match were that I don't think Mil Mascaras' bad rep is really warranted and that I want to see more El Halcon matches.
  4. Come on brah, that was the perfect time to plug your blog: http://notjaytabb.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/you-can-only-imagine-my-joy-when-weeks.html NotJayTabb put in the work and reviewed a bunch of Zenk matches, this wasn't one of those "let me name everyone who I watched in WCW growing up" nominations like what's happened with tag teams.
  5. Minefield battle royal certainly sounds better than a reverse battle royal. Was that a Russo invention?
  6. The point was she's already been nominated.

    The Nomination Thread

Eww. Not from anything I've ever seen, no.
  8. Well I mean of course you would think Mr. Wrestling II was an asshole watching him in Mid-South because that was the role he was playing. I don't see how that carries over to the Georgia feud with Assassin though.
  9. I didn't like it then and like it even less now because the follow up was a title reign by Seth Rollins that I didn't like and where they totally over exposed him. Plus there was zero real follow up on the Roman Reigns thing except for a bunch of pointless Reigns/Ambrose vs. Kane/Rollins tag matches. I didn't think it was good booking I thought it was cowardice. If they weren't going to pull the trigger on Roman they shouldn't have put him in the position to begin with. To me it was an even worse finish to Mania than the terrible decision to turn Austin heel at X-7 although without the disastrous business drop off that followed.
  10. That was kind of expected to me. It seemed like the stuff they uploaded were things they already had converted and sitting around from COD or compilation DVDs/Network specials. And now with the issues with the Stampede stuff I feel like that makes it more likely they just drop off from uploading any more territory footage.

    Jumbo Tsuruta

Don't discount the idea that your "heat" for those kinds of things are less about the criticism and more the way you go about it. It's not like Dr. Ackermann is trying to totally tear down Jumbo and say he's dog shit, just that he doesn't see him as great as other people do whereas your Gibson criticism is vitriolic.
  12. Just because the footage is down doesn't mean there isn't a deal in progress. It's not like that is something that would get done in 2 days time. Obviously it's going to involve a lot of lawyers and paper work because that's just how something like that would go. It's not going to be a "handshake" deal. I'm not sure it's going to see the light of day again though because I'm just not sure Vince sees it as something worth paying for to have on the Network.
  13. Dusty tried to restart the Florida territory after getting fired from JCP and before going to WWF. It didn't draw. http://www.prowrestlinghistory.com/indy/fcw-pwf/fcwcards89.html
  14. I don't see Vince thinking having Stampede footage on the Network is worth giving Bret any money for so yea, I wouldn't expect it to come back.
  15. Didn't watch the show this week and only caught a little bit of it last week but I did see last week's Rosebush segment and liked it. Adam Rose carries it well and it's something different from the tired formula of the invisible backstage camera segments.
  16. They didn't need to go into Texas or Watts country. They could have run all the places in Ohio that GCW started running under Ole, along with Philly & Balitmore which were two cities that they did well in. Add in Florida & Georgia to the natural Mid-Atlantic territory of Virginia & the Carlonas and there was still enough ground to run split crew shows that could run on sort of a "loop" without having to go crazy with airfare.
  17. Crockett was already offering big time contracts before the Turner buyout. It just so happened that he offered them with "balloon payments" at the end of the deal on whatever money hadn't been paid out and when it came time to make those big payouts, business was down and the money wasn't there. Whether he'd have actually been able to make those big payments if business hadn't dropped off and they hadn't gotten stupid about expenses, I'm not really sure.
  18. I guess you haven't seen SummerSlam 91 then.
  19. The idea is that they could make more money running the Greensboro Coliseum than flying all the guys out to Chicago and drawing a similar or even slightly smaller crowd just because someone felt it made them seem more "big time" to run in a larger market.
  20. Stacy Keiber's pregnancy in WCW.

    Damien Wayne

He was definitely a favorite of the DVDVR crew. Hopefully Phil Scneider will come along and point us in the direction of something to watch. I'm mostly just putting this match here to remind myself that it exists and that I want to watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVEOU1g9I-g

  23. Taped at The Junction in San Antonio, TX on 12/5 Southwest Championship Wrestling airing on Saturday 12/10 in local markets -Show intro- Steve Stack: Welcome to another edition of Southwest Championship Wrestling, the most exciting hour in all of professional wrestling! We've got another action packed in store for you this week like we do every week here on Southwest Championship Wrestling! We've got an incredible main event planned here on TV today with Mike Masters defending the Southwest Television Title against Man Mountain Link in a match where Mike Masters will lose the title if he is disqualified or counted out. But before we get to any of today's matches let me first talk about some of the things we saw last Sunday night at The HemisFair Arena. If you weren't there you missed one of the hottest nights of action we've ever seen here in the Southwest area. In the main event Jim Duggan and Sgt. Slaughter had a wild bloody brawl that spilled outside of the ring and neither man had any intentions of getting back inside the ring that forced referee Carl Fergie to count them out and declare the match a draw. Their battle ended in a stalemate but both men have indicated that the war is far from over and later in the hour we'll be hearing from both of them as they talk about their match this Sunday night which has been declared a "Boot Camp" match. I'll just let the video from Sgt. Slaughter fill you all in on what exactly a Boot Camp match is. We also saw Tully Blanchard successfully defend the Southwest Heavyweight Title against Roy Lee Welch but not without some controversy as Tully had a handful of Roy Lee's tights when he rolled him up for the pin. But controversy might as well be Tully Blanchard's middle name at this point. I'm sure he's going to come to the HemisFair Arena this Sunday night with all kinds of tricks up his sleeve as he has to defend the title against David Von Erich after David successfully defeated Mr. Saito last Sunday night. I know that David has been dreaming of all kinds of ways to inflict punishment on Tully ever since his head was slammed in that steel cage door and I can only imagine what's going to go down between them when they meet in the main event this Sunday night at The HemisFair Arena. I'm going to talk to both men later on in the hour to get their thoughts about what is surely going to be one of the hottest main events we've ever had in the HemisFair Arena. And in in the Southwest Tag Team Title match, we saw The Assassins retain their recently won gold against the newcomer team of Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, the Rock N Roll Express although Robert Gibson was pinned by Assassin #1 despite him not being the legal man. Stanley Blackburn reviewed the tape of what went down in that match and he decided that this Sunday night there will be a return bout as The Rock N Roll Express will once again challenge The Assassins for the Southwest Tag Team Championships. I will be talking to The Rock N Roll Express right after this commercial break so don't go away you won't want to miss it! -First commercial break- Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling and with me now is a team making their first appearance together here in The Junction, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson: The Rock N Roll Express! Gentlemen it's great to have you hear in the area and Ricky I'm glad to see you've continued to have success in your career after leaving the Southwest area, it seems like your team with Robert has reached even greater heights than the team you had here with Ken Lucas. Ricky Morton: Well Steve, I have to give a lot of the credit for my success to Ken Lucas you know when I first came here I was just a wet behind the ears kid and riding up and down the roads with Ken Lucas and listening to him and just trying to do everything the way he was teaching me really paid off not just here but everywhere I've been all around the country since then. Robert and I have won the AWA Southern Tag Team Titles, we've challenged the AWA World Tag Team Champions, The Road Warriors and now we're here to try and win the AWA Southwest Tag Team Team Titles from The Assassins. Steve Stack: Last Sunday night we saw you in action against The Assassins and it seemed like you had the match won after hitting a double dropkick on Assassin #2 but then Assassin #1 came dropped an elbow on the back of your head Robert and pinned you despite not being the legal man. Robert Gibson: I know being the referee in a tag team match is a tough job, it's not a job I would want to do but the referee was out of position and he had his back turned to the action when all that went down. Hopefully this Sunday night we'll - -Suddenly Eddie Gilbert comes out with Ken Lucas behind him trying to stop him & Eddie Gilbert: Excuse me Steve, I'm sorry but I couldn't sit back there and listen to any more of this. Last week we were told we couldn't get a shot at the Southwest Tag Team Titles because we lost to Yin and Yang. Well we beat them in under 4 minutes last week and now this week AGAIN these two guys just swoop right in and take a title shot that should go to Ken Lucas and I. Steve Stack: Eddie I understand your frustration but this is the interview time of the Rock N Roll Express and - Eddie Gilbert: No, no Steve Stack I don't think you do understand. Ricky Morton is out here saying he owes all the success in his career to my partner Ken Lucas well then why doesn't he show his gratitude by stepping aside and giving Ken and I the tag team title shot. Robert Gibson: We aren't stepping aside for anybody brother, we got a contract for the match and we're gonna wrestle in it. Eddie Gilbert: Well why don't you wrestle us first then? If you two are such big shots then you shouldn't have any problem beating us and actually earning that tag team title shot. Ken Lucas: Wait just a minute now Eddie. I didn't want to come out here and interrupt these guys in the first place and now you're just talking crazy. I don't want to get in the ring with Ricky Morton, he's like a son to me. All these people here have seen us team together, they saw us win the Southwest Tag Team Titles and defend them against teams like The Grapplers and The Sheepherders, they don't want to see us wrestle each other. Ricky Morton: Thank you Ken and the feeling is mutual, I don't think I could ever get in the ring and compete against you after everything you do for me. But as for you Eddie Gilbert, since you seem to have such a problem with me how about I wrestle YOU? Right now, I'll go get in the ring and you come on and follow! -Ricky Morton heads down to the ring Steve Stack: Now hold on, this isn't the match we have scheduled right n- Eddie Gilbert: It doesn't matter what's scheduled right now, because I'm going down to that ring! -Eddie Gilbert heads down to the ring Steve Stack: Well I guess we better get a referee out here and make this a match otherwise it's just going to be a fight because they're both ready to go. Ken Lucas: Steve I apologize for disrupting the show like this, if you don't mind I'm going to stay here with you and watch this match and hope these guys just wrestle a clean bout. Steve Stack: What a fast paced match! Ken, I'm sorry but it looks like you won't be taking that Southwest Tag Team Title match this Sunday night. Ken Lucas: Steve I'm just happy that they wrestled each other like men and it didn't turn into a nasty fight. Eddie Gilbert stands in the ring looking frustrated as Ricky Morton heads up to the interview area and hugs Ken Lucas Steve Stack: We've got to take a commercial break but don't go away because we'll be back with more Southwest Championship Wrestling right after this! -Second commercial break- Steve Stack: We're back and there was quite the commotion during the break! Luckily we kept our cameras rolling so let's take a look and just what happened. Steve Stack: Yin and Yang looked to be out for revenge for their loss last Sunday night but luckily Ken Lucas and Ricky Morton were there to help out Eddie Gilbert although he didn't seem to grateful for the help. Lucas and Gilbert are going to need to be on the same page though as they are scheduled for a rubber match with Yin and Yang this Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena. Now let me bring out the team that arguably started that argument between Eddie Gilbert and Ricky Morton, the AWA Southwest Tag Team Champions: The Assassins! Assassin #1: I heard all the crying and excuse making you and the teenybopper idols were making out here earlier and I don't know what you're talking about. I pinned Robert Gibson fair and square in the middle of the ring and these belts are proof of that. Steve Stack: Well talking about proof we have the video tape of the closing moments of that match let's go ahead and play the clip and have you walk us through it. Ok we're starting the tap now as Assassin #2 is stomping that boot against the mat which some have claimed is him loading that boot with some kind of foreign object. Assassin #1: Completely false Steve Stack, that is just him shaking out some soreness in his leg as he gets ready for his Running Boot and there you see Ricky Morton get lucky and duck out of the way and make the tag to Robert Gibson. Now Ricky and Robert and both in the ring, completely illegally and so I have no choice but to come in and help my partner. Steve Stack: Well it didn't seem to help him much as you can see right here he gets hit with that Double Dropkick and Robert Gibson is pinning him while Carl Fergie is trying to get Ricky Morton out of the ring and there you are with the elbow drop to the back of Robert's head and you help roll Assassin #2 out of the ring and pin Robert although you were not the legal man. Assassin #1: I don't know what you did to this tape Steve Stack, you've altered it somehow to remove the perfectly legal tag that was made between myself and Assassin #2 and I was only correcting the mistake of Robert pinning the man who wasn't legal in the ring. If that wasn't the case then why did Carl Fergie count the pin. Steve Stack: That tape was not altered in any way and you know that. As for why Carl Fergie counted the pin, it's a hard job being 1 referee trying to keep track of 4 guys and he simply made a mistake. Assassin #1: I'm not going to be out here and listen to these blatant lies and have you try and slander me on television. We won that match perfectly legally, we're the Southwest Tag Team Champions and after this Sunday when we beat The Rock N Roll Express again we will STILL be the champions. -The Assassins leave the interview area Steve Stack: Fans I can assure you that was totally unedited footage from last Sunday night. And since we're talking about rematches let me bring in Jose Lothario and his client The Cuban Assassin who will be facing El Gran Apollo again this Sunday night with some special stipulations. Jose Lothario: I can't believe this Steve Stack! Stanley Blackburn said that if The Cuban Assassin loses this Sunday night then my manager's license will be revoked! Why would he do such thing!? Steve Stack: I don't know Jose, it may have something to do with you interfering in the last two matches between Apollo and The Cuban Assassin. But since you're both out here together, I wanted to ask you about just why you're managing him. You were out here for months talking about how the Spanish speaking fans here shouldn't cheer for the Cuban El Gran Apollo but then you bring in The Cuban Assassin to take him on AND when Mr. Mexico had his mask taken off it revealed another Cuban underneath in Fidel Sierra. Jose Lothario: I told you that Fidel Sierra was only Mr. Mexico for one night! Why won't people believe me!? It's not my fault that the real Mr. Mexico had a family emergency and had to go back to Mexico! Steve Stack: Well assuming that's true it's been over a month now, hasn't he been able to come back? Jose Lothario: Why are we talking about Mr. Mexico!? That's in the past! I want to talk about this Sunday night. Steve Stack: I am just trying to get down to the bottom of your issues with El Gran Apollo, since you said you didn't like the fans here cheering for a Cuban but you've aligned yourself with two other Cubans ever since your partnership with El Gran Apollo dissolved. It almost seems like you weren't upset about the fans cheering a Cuban you were just upset about them cheering for El Gran Apollo more than you in your tag matches. Jose Lothario: I should have The Cuban Assassin spike you right now! How dare you speak to me this way, I'm a legend in this state of Texas! I don't have to stand out here and listen to any more of these insults, I'm leaving! -Jose Lothario and The Cuban Assassin leave the interview area Steve Stack: I guess Jose didn't like me pointing out the hypocrisy in his actions but he should be more worried about losing his manager's license if The Cuban Assassin loses this Sunday night to El Gran Apollo. Fans we're going to have to take another time out for our sponsors but don't go away because when we come back we're going to see Mike Jackson team up with Tony Torres to take on Bruiser Costa and Terry Adonis and we'll also hear from the Yellow Rose of Texas, the man who is going to face Tully Blanchard in the main event this Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena: David Von Erich! Don't touch that dial you won't want to miss a minute of it! -Third commercial break- Steve Stack: Welcome back to Southwest Championship Wrestling! With me now is the lovely Sunshine and the man who will be challenging Tully Blanchard for the Southwest Heavyweight Title this Sunday night in the main event at The HemisFair Arena but that match is about a whole lot more than just that belt isn't it David? David Von Erich: It's about a whole lot more Steve. It's about pride, it's about revenge and it's about making things right. When I came here to Southwest Championship Wrestling I did it for the wrong reasons, I did it because my pride was in the wrong place. I wanted to show that Texas belonged to Texans so I teamed up with Tully Blanchard to try and run The Fabulous Ones out of the state. But now I see just how wrong I was, I see that the man I really should have been trying to get rid of was the man who was my partner. Tully there is no place in MY state for men, well you're not a man so I can't say that, for dogs who would put their hands on a woman the way you did to Sunshine. There is no place in my state for backstabbers and liars and that's why when we step into the ring this Sunday night I'm going to beat you so bad you're not going to want to wrestle here anymore. You're going to be so humiliated after I get done with you that you're going to pack your bags and you're going to go somewhere far far away from me. And before you go, I'm gonna let Sunshine give you a nice parting gift. She hasn't been bringing the purse with her since I came back here a couple weeks ago, but Sunday night she's going to have it with her. And once I finish with you, I'm going to hold up your bloody, beaten carcass and I'm gonna let Sunshine smack you in the head with that purse because she deserves her own measure of revenge. Sunshine: Tully for me it's not about what you did to me, it's about what you did to David. I had to spend weeks watching him struggle to recover from the damage you did when you slammed that cage door on his head. I had to see the pain in his face, not just physical pain but the emotional pain. So when the match is over and David is celebrating with the Southwest Heavyweight Title, I'm not going to put that purse upside your head for me. I'm going to do it for David and this is a terrible thing to say but I hope you have to get carried out of the arena the way David did. -David Von Erich and Sunshine leave the interview area Steve Stack: Fans you all know just how personal that rivalry is, you saw the footage of David having his head slammed in the cage door, you saw the videos from David on his family's ranch as he tried to recover and get ready to return and I know you will never forgive yourself if you miss the chance to finally see the confrontation as The Texas Dynasty collides and David Von Erich and Tully Blanchard do battle. Now let me bring in Roy Lee Welch who apparently does NOT have a match this Sunday night as his scheduled opponent has seemingly disappeared as no one has been able to get in touch with Mr. Saito all week. Steve Stack: Roy you made your intentions known last week that you were after Robert Fuller's AWA National Championship but without an opponent this week it's going to be hard to climb up the rankings to get that match. Roy Lee Welch: Steve I don't know what's going on. I was originally told that I was supposed to be rasslin Mr. Saito this Sunday night but then they told me when I got here today they said that Mr. Saito hadn't made any of his bookings and no one could get in touch with him and that apparently he'd gone back to Japan! Steve Stack: That IS the rumor going around but I've yet to have it confirmed and I'll try and ask Tully Blanchard about that when he's on later in the hour. But actually right now we've got a match scheduled between Mike Jackson and your protege of sorts in the young Tony Torres as they are set to take on the team of Bruiser Costa and Terry Adonis and I'd like to have you stay out here with me on commentary so we can talk about your match last Sunday with Tully Blanchard, your quest to get a match for the National Title and also the progress of your protege Tony Torres. Roy Lee Welch: Of course Steve, that would be my pleasure. Steve Stack: Alright then let's send it down to the ring now where Bruiser Costa & Terry Adonis are making their way down the aisle where Mike Jackson and Tony Torres are already awaiting their arrival. Steve Stack: I know you've got to be proud to see Tony Torres get a big victory like that here on TV Roy! Roy Lee Welch: Absolutely Steve, I told you he and I had been training hard and I knew it was going to pay off soon and I can't tell you just how happy I am to see he and Mike win that match, especially with a move that I taught him. I'm going to head down to the ring and congratulate them, excuse me Steve. -Roy Lee Welch leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Well Roy might be upset about suddenly being without an opponent this Sunday night but that victory certainly seems to be helping to lift his spirits. We've got to take another commercial break but don't go away because when we come back we're going to hear from Sgt. Slaughter and find out just what that Boot Camp match is going to be when he faces 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan this Sunday night! -Fourth commercial break- Steve Stack: Welcome back to Southwest Championship Wrestling! With me now is 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan and Jim before we talk about your match this Sunday night let's take a look at the video that was sent in by Sgt. Slaughter to explain the rules and stipulations. Steve Stack: Well Jim now we know what exactly that Boot Camp match is, what are your thoughts about facing a man like Sgt. Slaughter in such a dangerous contest? Jim Duggan: Dangerous for who? I'm not the one who is in danger Steve Stack, Sgt. Slaughter is the one who made his bed and now he has to lie in it. When I don't have any rules to follow it means somebody is going to get hurt and that somebody ain't the Hacksaw. I've been facing the biggest and baddest the Sheik Adnan can find, I've taken down Bruiser Brody, I've taken down the Zambuie Express and this Sunday night I'm going to take down Sgt. Slaughter too! He can talk about his steel toed combat boots, that's just fine. Since I can wear anything I want, I might just go back to my roots and wear a football helmet and we'll see if you can kick a hole in my head with that on! You know me Steve Stack, I'm not afraid to fight anyone, anywhere, any time and this Boot Camp match doesn't scare me at all. I'm gonna be ready Sunday night and I might walk out bloody, I might walk out bruised but I am going to walk out the winner AND with all my purty hair intact! -Jim Duggan leaves the interview area Steve Stack: That's the one and only 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan ladies and gentlemen! I can only imagine just how wild and out of control that match is going to be after the way those two went at each other last Sunday night as there won't be anyone to come out and separate them for fighting on the floor, this time they can fight anywhere they want to. It's certainly going to be a match you won't want to miss. But speaking of matches you won't want to miss, now let me bring out the man who will be in the main event in a match I KNOW you won't want to miss, the Southwest Heavyweight Champion, Tully Blanchard! Steve Stack: Tully, you heard the comments from David Von Erich and Sunshine earlier on in the program what do you think about Sunshine threatening to bring her purse down to the ring Sunday night and hit you over the head with it? Tully Blanchard: Are you really asking me that question? You really expect me to be intimidated by what that floozy, that piece of street trash had to say about me? Steve Stack: Oh come on Tully let's not - Tully Blanchard: No Steve Stack, you wanted to talk about Sunshine let's talk about her. What exactly is she good for? She cost David Von Erich that TV Title, she cost us the Southwest Tag Team Titles, she's an airhead, a bimbo and why should I be worried about her trying to hit me with that purse? She'd probably miss and hit David anyway so let her try. But one thing I know that I am going to do after the match, after I celebrate with MY Southwest Heavyweight Title as I stand over the brain damaged David Von Erich. I am going to grab Sunshine, I'm going to pull her real close...and I'm going to slap her right across her face! Steve Stack: That's disgusting Tully! How can you - -Suddenly David Von Erich runs out to the interview area and attacks Tully Blanchard! David starts beating the hell out of him before Tony Torres, Mike Jackson, Roy Lee Welch, Ken Lucas and the Rock N Roll Express run out and pull him off! Steve Stack: I think that's enough we'd better go ahead and just go to break early before - Tully Blanchard: Don't you cut me off! I'm not finished! David Von Erich I'm going to hurt you! I'm going to crack your skill wide open and spill your blood all around the HemisFair Arena! And then I'm gonna slap that ugly girlfriend of yours and rub her face in it! -Tully Blanchard walks off from the interview area Steve Stack: Fans I apologize for those despicable comments by Tully Blanchard, we're going to go to break now and when we come back we've got our main event Television Title match between Mike Masters and Man Mountain Link, don't go away. -Fifth and final commercial break- Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling and Man Mountain Link is already in the ring awaiting Mike Masters but what is this Jim Holliday!? Mike Masters is out here on crutches! Jim Holliday: Unfortunately Mike Masters slipped on some ice as he was leaving the gym yesterday and happened to sprain his ankle and is unable to compete today. But don't you worry, I've already talked to Stanley Blackburn who has allowed him to postpone that match until his ankle heals, which it will surely do inside the 30 day window that he has to defend the title. Steve Stack: What about our main event! Man Mountain Link is already in the ring....I don't want to say this seems fishy that Mike Masters isn't able to wrestle today when he's supposed to defend the title in a match where if he loses by disqualification or count out he will lose the title but - Jim Holliday: Then don't say it because that couldn't be further from the truth. Mike Masters is a fighting champion and he'd love nothing more than to get in the ring with Man Mountain Link today but that's not going to be possible. Stanley Blackburn has allowed me to make the substitution of Timothy Flowers however and the 'Diamond' himself is headed towards the ring right now as you can see. Steve Stack: Well fans I apologize, no one told me we weren't going to have the TV Title main event today it looks like instead the match is going to be Timothy Flowers against Man Mountain Link, let's head down to the ring now. -'Gentleman' Jim Holliday goes to the ring to be in Timothy Flowers' corner with Mike Masters following him on crutches Link drops Flowers down out of the Falling Powerslam position and drops to one knee and Masters and Flowers start pounding on him. Tiny Anderson rushes out from the back and tries to come to his brother's aid only to get thrown over the top rope by Masters & Flowers. As they turn back around however they run into a double clothesline from Man Mountain Link! Link is fired up and tries to grab Mike Masters but Jim Holliday helps pull him out of one side of the ring and Timothy Flowers bails out from the other side and they quickly get out of dodge as an irate Link stands in the ring challenging them to come back in and fight him. Steve Stack: What a farce! I knew there was something fishy going on with Mike Masters being on those crutches and that just confirms it! He is doing anything and everything he can to avoid giving Man Mountain Link a real chance at winning that Southwest Television Title but sooner or later he's going to have to do it and I don't think making the big man more and more angry before it happens is the best way to go about it! -Man Mountain Link comes into the interview area Man Mountain Link: This is a joke! Mike Masters somehow weasels out of giving me my title match because he said he was injured, well it didn't seem like anything was wrong with that ankle when he was running like an Olympic sprinter to get away from me! Since it's obvious there is nothing wrong with that ankle I am going to make sure Stanley Blackburn gives me that match I was supposed to have here on TV at the HemisFair Arena this Sunday night instead. And Mike Masters, if you get disqualified, if you get counted out, and I'm sure now there will be one more stipulation that if you find some phony excuse or a doctor's note to keep from wrestling, you're gonna be handing that belt over to me. So I hope you do find some courage because I would like it a whole lot more to squash you like a bug and take that belt from you than have you run away and hand it over! -Man Mountain Link leaves the interview area Steve Stack: I think Link is right, I can't see any reason that Stanley Blackburn won't make that match this Sunday night and with the amazing card we already have planned that just might put it over the top as the greatest night of action we've ever had schedule for the HemisFair Arena. It's going to be Tully Blanchard defending the Southwest Heavyweight Title against David Von Erich in perhaps the most personal, intense main event we've ever had, Sgt. Slaughter against Jim Duggan in a Boot Camp match, The Rock N Roll Express challenging The Assassins for the Southwest Tag Team Titles, and much much more! You're going to want to buy your tickets now so you won't get caught standing outside the arena Sunday night when it sells out! We're out of time this week but be sure to join us for more of the hottest, most exciting hour in professional wrestling right here next week on Southwest Championship Wrestling! Scheduled for Sunday, December 11th at the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio, TX Southwest Heavyweight Title: David Von Erich vs. Tully Blanchard Southwest Tag Team Title: RNR Express vs. The Assassins Boot Camp Match: Jim Duggan vs. Sgt. Slaughter Eddie Gilbert & Ken Lucas vs. Yin & Yang If The Cuban Assassin loses, Jose Lothario loses his manager's license: El Gran Apollo vs. The Cuban Assassin Southwest Television Title: Man Mountain Link vs. Mike Masters (If Mike Masters is counted out, disqualified or fails to appear he loses the title) Steve Pardee & Larry Hamilton vs. Pat Rose & Ron Sexton Ron Starr vs. Timothy Flowers
  24. Barbarian was best hidden in tag matches for sure. Although these two had a Street Fight on 3/30/85 that is on a certain Butch Reed compilation that I remember thinking was pretty good. It was set up in the Reed/Kamala lumberjack match that is on the site.
