Their focus on increasing business in India isn't about Network subscriptions it's about getting a bigger money TV deal when their current one is up.

Wyatt sucks and Corbin is better than him

So I watched this whole show and it's AWFUL. I have to imagine the vast majority of people watching this on TV had no idea what the hell was going on, who Vince Russo was, why Kidman was calling out Hogan, why Shane Douglas hated Ric Flair, what the hell does "being held down" mean, etc etc. I agree with Magnum Milano saying that Hogan outshone Kidman in this segment and that along with the size difference just shows how bad of an idea this feud was. Despite that massive size difference that would have made you think the crowd would have seen Hogan as bullying the smaller guy, they still cheered way more for Hulk beating on Kidman than Kidman getting in offense on Hulk. You could have tried to tell the same kind of "young guy wants to take Hogan's spot" story with someone else who would have actually fit with Hogan's style of work and didn't look so tiny against him but I guess that wouldn't have reached that huge audience of people who knew Hogan dissed him in some interview online. I strongly disagree with the idea that Kidman was a guy who could or should have been elevated beyond the midcard as he didn't have the look, the mic skills or the in ring ability to go beyond a guy who just has good workrate matches in the middle of the card.

This was pretty damn good and I wish we could have gotten this Sid more often as I don't credit his offense looking better than usual just to the way Benoit sold & bumped, it looked like he was laying it in more than usual. This had an interesting dynamic where it was almost like Sid who started the match as the big monster bully ended up becoming the sympathetic underdog through the way Benoit kept cutting him off and Sid's great selling. I was kind of surprised how much Benoit put over the win in his reaction after the match and the promo backstage considering he knew he was going to be leaving anyway. It's also really funny to me that the last words Benoit ever said on a WCW broadcast were "Well from the little turd to the big turd, best of luck."

[2000-01-15-MPPW-TV] Rico Constantino vs Steve Bradley
goc replied to soup23's topic in January 2000
This was definitely too short to be able to successfully pull off all the overbooking they did. I don't have a problem with the idea of a match having multiple run ins and a ref bump but the execution here was terrible. This didn't do anything for me. -
Biohazard complaining that he didn't want to wrestle a hardcore match because he's a wrestler was pretty hilarious to me because everything about him screamed garbage match worker. Necro Butcher looks so weird here, I had no idea he ever had this look. This felt like it would have been right at home taking place in someone's backyard as any actual wrestling moves that happened in this match looked like shit and the move that was consistently sold the most was a kick to the stomach.

Well Vinny Massaro also told me on twitter that the "Manny makes Invader 3 puke blood" angle was a shoot because that's what Manny told him so he's not a great source. From what I've read Bayley was injured by the way she hit the rope when she rolled out of the ring and not by anything Nia Jax did though.

Kid Kash had very weak trash talking skills during his argument with the fan in the crowd. This match was pretty fun and didn't really feel very "ECW" like until the ref bump and the interference. I liked Corino a lot in this and he feels like a guy who really understood how to get heat from ECW fans without just getting on the mic and making "I fucked your mom/sister" jokes. Watching this match really helps you see the "Corino would have had a much better career as a territory guy" talking point that's gone around about him.

[2000-03-20-WCW-Nitro] Hulk Hogan & Sid vs Jeff Jarrett & Scott Steiner
goc replied to Loss's topic in March 2000
I thought Sid's babyface promo in the first part of this was surprisingly good. Jeff Jarrett felt outclassed by Sid when he came out and talked which is a pretty big indication of just how over his head Jarrett was in being pushed as a top guy. The match was fine although I kind of wanted more Scott Steiner/Hogan interaction although Hogan was probably making sure that was going to be as limited as possible. The Sid turn just felt really stupid and out of nowhere, just a swerve for the sake of a swerve made even dumber by the ref counting Sid pinning Hogan and Jarrett and Steiner celebrating like they'd actually won something. This also makes it feel like the top of the card would be really heel heavy although I think everything pretty much got erased soon after this with the Bischoff/Russo era starting with a big reset button. I do kind of wish we'd have gotten a Sid vs. Hogan match on PPV in 2000, I don't think it would have been very good but I want to see it. -
[2000-03-19-WCW-Uncensored] Ric Flair vs Hulk Hogan (Yappapi Strap)
goc replied to soup23's topic in March 2000
I liked this for what it was and thought it was really well laid out until the very weird attempt and then the match actually ending in a pin fall. If I were to compare Hogan and Flair as to which one looks more past their prime here I'd have to go with Flair who really just looks like he is going through the motions in 2000 and also looks really flabby and out of shape. Hogan clearly had a knee issue that was kind of hobbling him but I felt like he was still trying hard at this point. He was also still pretty solidly over with the crowds in the arena which has surprised me as I didn't watch any 2000 WCW before this and only remember the online narrative about Hogan at this time period being pretty much 100% negative. There are definitely issues with booking Hogan as pretty much THE top babyface at this point in his career and especially considering what WCW was having to compete with over in WWF but I feel like his work was still pretty good. I don't know how anyone in WCW could have thought this direction was the right path to try and regain all the ground they had lost to WWF in 99 thru this point in 2000 though. -
This was very much your typical Lawler vs big man match and in a very shortened form for TV but I still enjoyed watching it. I really did like the finish and the face off at the end because it made me imagine a Jerry Lawler vs. Steven Regal match which could either be a lot of fun or a huge train wreck due to a clash of styles.

[2000-03-15-WCW-Thunder] Hulk Hogan vs Ric Flair & Lex Luger (Handicap)
goc replied to soup23's topic in March 2000
I didn't think the work was bad in this match but the booking was really stupid as in this is just a match that never should have happened. You can't have the heels just dominate and squash Hogan and they shouldn't have gotten their ass kicked like they did so there was never anything good that could have come out of this and nothing good did come out of it. -
I like Mr. Mexico a lot as he has great facial expressions, good intensity and he plays his character really well. Not a guy I've ever really heard of talked about by big lucha fans and I have no idea how long his career was but I liked him a lot in this match and the other trios match I watched with him in it. I watched this yesterday and don't really remember anything that Tony Rivera did to stand out so everything I liked about this really came down to Mr. Mexico. Good match but not anywhere near the best apuesta matches that I've seen.

[2000-02-25-CMLL] El Satanico vs Tarzan Boy (Hair vs Hair)
goc replied to Microstatistics's topic in February 2000
I liked this but do feel it was disappointing due to how short it was and that they really didn't get violent enough to feel like a good payoff to the feud. I wish I knew more Spanish because I know enough to know they were talking about the crowd booing Tarzan Boy on commentary but not enough to truly understand what they were saying about it. It was definitely an interesting dynamic as Tarzan Boy was getting booed while on offense but got a loud pop when he won. Definitely a younger/female fan vs older male fan split reaction going on for Tarzan Boy which probably was made a lot worse with him having to go against a legend like Satanico. -
Hogan was still pretty over with live crowds at this point even if you would get some negative signs right in front of the hard cam like the "Please retire Hogan" one that we saw here. I thought Hogan made The Wall's chokeslam look like shit by popping right up from it but then he let Wall do the same to the legdrop which kind of made up for it. This was a nothing match with a shitty finish but the visual of Hogan and Vampiro working together at the end of it to get The Wall out of the ring was very surreal. The Wall didn't look very good here but I was pretty impressed by his short NWA-TNA run as Malice where he dropped a lot of weight and looked a lot less green.

[2000-01-15-WCW-Saturday Night] Mark Jindrak vs. Elix Skipper
goc replied to soup23's topic in January 2000
This was kind of your standard "not good but not bad" WCW Saturday Night match and nothing about the actual match really stood out except that Jindrak needed more aggression. The biggest takeaway from this was how obvious the fake crowd noise was with Jindrak getting a ton of piped in boos while the crowd was just sitting there not doing anything. Also amusing is that they didn't bother to pipe in any cheers for Elix Skipper on his comeback. -
*this* as in your very own post? We finally agree about something.

Regular 1998 WWF royalties weren't going to beat the deal he'd worked out for himself in WCW though. He was also probably smart enough to know he wouldn't be able to make himself THE guy in WWF with Austin as hot as he was and he probably wasn't going to want to even feud with Austin because he wouldn't have been the one going over.

Come on Johnny, don't try to ruin my joy of complaining about WWE not saving big matches for PPV while also talking shit about how their ratings are down.
-
I'm not sure how they wouldn't own 88-89 considering they've already put stuff from 90-91 USWA Texas on there which says they own the Jarrett era stuff.
-
I think the "Drew wasn't ready for his push" talk is overblown. Maybe it's true from a maturity standpoint but in the ring I think he definitely was good enough to get a strong midcard push. Go back and watch his PPV matches from the time against guys like Kofi Kingston and John Morrison and you'll see they were good and those were two guys who could be rather hit and miss in singles matches and weren't exactly ring generals who could lead a green guy through a good match. I think his best work from that time period was clearly with Matt Hardy but I can't think of any PPV match he had where you could say he shit the bed and was exposed as not being worthy of his push.

I know you're like 6 months past this part now but I did just get the full episode where Bob Armstrong gets turned on in the Cage by Robert Fuller and uploaded it on my channel.

I have no idea how releasing her from WWE is supposed to help her especially considering if she actually does go back to work for them that's probably the only thing right now that would give her time away from Alberto.
-
Or you could just be a fucking jackass who is reading way too much into people questioning the story and thinking it sounds like bullshit because it doesn't sound anything like a normal human reaction

Look it's well known that Indians are stupid and don't have the refined workrate palette of a refined Westerner.
