Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Any more info on this? I heard Meltzer effectively say he wasn't interviewed but should have been..... Not that I've seen. I'm surprised they didn't reach out to Dave, but that was probably the filmmaker's prerogative as I would imagine ESPN gives them more leeway. What I want to know is if WWE licensed them any footage or that it will rely on what ESPN themselves have because they had a home at World Class for awhile. -
Silly question but is there a chance all the "The Main Event" shows (IE Andre beating Hogan) will not be included in this coming package?

Really? I've never heard this. I suppose it isn't exactly out of the realms of possibility, it's not like recreational drug use is solely confined to the wrestlers. Wasn't Heenan having a lot of neck problems around this time also? http://www.thehistoryofwwe.com/91.htm 1/1/91: Bobby Heenan was arrested the day after he collapsed on an airplane. Police found 48 grams of marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia in his baggage.

Bobby Heenan was arrested for pot possession in 1991?

Kevin Von Erich tweeted the other day that the ESPN 30 For 30 film on his family will air toward the end of summer. -

It would be interesting if he changed his working style once he came to WCW, if he'd have gotten over easier with those crowds. Maybe not but it would have been more interesting to watch at least. -
[1998-01-26-WCW-Nitro] Goldberg vs Brad Armstrong
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in January 1998
I was at this show. This was the highlight of the show from what I remember. This is when the Nitro Girls were dispatched to frat parties and I believe this segment followed one of those, particularly because the TV screens where we were supposed to see it weren't working. Also couldn't see the power bomb which this segment was a follow-up on.- 8 replies

Completely random, but is Droz still a WWE employee?

To be fair, I think if they had stuck around Vince would be accused of just sticking with the same old guys on top. You can't exactly move Hulk Hogan to the midcard. Somehow he did it with Savage, but a lot of that would be attributed to Hogan not being around because they worked so well together. And guys like Bret and Shawn would be much more compelled to leave. In the bizzaro-world scenario where that happens, WCW could really have set themselves apart from WWF by saying that they were the new generation while Vince was old hat.

What are the best Survivor Series tags ever?
flyonthewall2983 replied to BigBadMick's topic in Pro Wrestling
The 20-man tags are my favorites too, especially the one in '88. -
Repeating myself here, but the line is only bad from any kind of perspective. I'd imagine people watching at home didn't think about it much, I'd imagine if I was even watching it I'd dismiss it. The rush of Hogan coming out was enough (remember, he hadn't been seen on WCW TV at all and barely mentioned since April).

They cut out Kevin Nash saying "I'm the shit" during his WM 12 entrance.

Both Hawk and Animal were pretty good at it.

He's interviewing Russo soon.

Of the ones I've seen live, Joey Mercury destroying his nose in that ladder match was pretty awful-looking. I saw it in a bar full of people, not everyone really paying attention but I could tell that shot did.

I watched this episode on the Network recently. It ends rather oddly, but it's pretty much all Randy as the backstage skirmish between Backlund and Luger went a bit haywire audio-wise and we just hear him try and describe what's going on. At one point there's a shot of Randy looking at the monitor, and it all feels odd and sad at the same time. Absolutely not the way for him to go out.

Not wrestling but hockey has probably seen some of the most grody unintentional blade jobs in history.

Crowd sourcing: Hacksaw Duggan interview questions
flyonthewall2983 replied to evilclown's topic in Pro Wrestling
One question I'd ask pertinent to Legends' House is if he at some point before settled his heat with Hillbilly Jim. In his RF shoot, he said he and Jim had problems when they were doing Prime Time because Duggan took his "Hulk's buddy" spot. -
Wrestling in unusual contexts
flyonthewall2983 replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling Mostly
There's a funny generic reference to wrestling in one episode of the latest season of Orange Is The New Black. -
It could be his response to senility.

I really thought they left it out of the dinner scene from the previous episode, which made it a little strange and deceptive to me. Having watched it unfold later though made sense. I was really unsure if WWE would go that far but I'm glad they did. It's not an earth-shattering announcement by any means, but it's one I'm still glad to have been done. That said I couldn't care less about the reunion show coming up.
