Just went back and realized I posted in this thread the first go round. I'm running out of material

Highlights of Mania 2 on the local sports news. I also have a memory of being intrigued by the VHS cover of Mania 1 in a video store before I ever saw wrestling

I think it's clever booking if Braun is out past Summerslam selling the ambulance injuries after defeating Reigns in the match, thus denying him a rightful shot against Brock. Reigns can get the Summerslam title match, presumably win the strap, and then have Braun as an uncrowned champion to challenge him post-Summerslam. It's far better than the easy route of having Reigns beat Braun and then challenge Brock. Now you have a heel who has defeated Reigns twice in a row ready for him after Summerslam. Throw in Wyatt, Cass, Joe and another Brock match and you have a decent sucession of challengers for Reigns to cruise into Mania for an epic showdown with Cena

Well the name is easy to remember that's for sure
-
Yeah, probably. But there are so many shows now that they all blur together and I can't even remember some of their names and what month they happened in. I know I've liked the last three Raw shows and Smackdown has been kinda hit and miss
-
Is it really a double turn when the guy supposedly turning heel has been booed out of the building for years now and the guy turning face has been getting face reactions all year? It's just more shades of grey stuff. Definitely a star making moment for Strowman though
-
"Here is your winner, Heath Slater" in the background while footage of the fire department attempting to extract Strowman from the ambulance was the funniest moment of the night
-
Jesus fuck, what a match!

I'm hoping for a fun show and with the line up it should be. Lesnar vs Joe could be crazy if we get one of those wild Lesnar matches where there is more leeway for blood and other atypical WWE stuff
-
Really? I thought both of their prior matches were really good and don't see why this should be any different. Getting 30 minutes doesn't bother me either. It's not like it's the Ascension vs Breezango or whatever (but imagine that!)

More MSG footage, but that wasn't part of Vince Sr's territory until 1956, and then he went through periods where he had to share the rights to the Garden with other promoters or was shut out completely. He didn't gain full control until 1961 I think. So it's hard to say what 50s MSG footage is actually from when Vince Sr was promoting. In general there is much more 50s wrestling footage than the 60s, as in the 60s it just wasn't preserved because wrestling wasn't popular on a national level and the local stations mostly taped over stuff to save money

I had the match at ***. I didn't feel like I'd just seen something special when it was over. I liked Cody over the years in WWE but he didn't feel like a major star in this setting and I wasn't particularly impressed with his work
-
Very little. There is random TV footage from 1965/66 on youtube. Scattered bits of house show footage. No idea what they may have in the vault. The Bruno vs Steele match from the recent collection is most likely from 1969

Wasn't doing well as far as PPV buys go

What a great match! The perfect mix of long-term story, in-ring story, and outside the ring story in one match. The long-term story is the Strong life story/quest for the NXT title tale that has unfolded over the last month or so. If you haven't watched NXT TV regularly lately please watch the pre-match video for the Coles Notes (Canadian expression) recap, because knowing the context going in is important. The in-ring story is great, with Strong hurting his leg early on and struggling through the rest of the match, as Roode (as has been the story of his success over the months) capitalizes on the injury and targets it throughout. The outside the ring story is that both Strong's mother and fiance are front row cheering Roddy on, which really amps up the drama. The finish is also great, as Roddy thinks he has won, but Roode had his foot under the rope as the ref counted three. The ref realizes his mistake immediately and rushes over to tell the announcer the match isn't over. However, Roddy thinks he has won the title and in his excitement goes to embrace his fiance at ringside. Roode again capitalizes and takes advantage of the ref being distracted to take out Roddy and score a controversial pin. Roddy's fiance screaming "you cheated" at Roode after the match was great and overall she was superb in conveying a rollercaster of emotions throughout. This match really takes you on an emotional ride like few from the WWE do these days. In a way, with the storytelling and drama, the match was a throwback to the old days. This wasn't about getting "this is awesome" chants from the crowd, this was about getting an emotional reaction from the crowd. And they succeeded in that regard brilliantly. I loved this match. Yes, I'm not sure Roddy was consistently selling the same leg, but I really don't care. Roddy has been great as a babyface lately and I think Roode is actually making a solid case for wrestler of the year. Everyone, watch this match. Easily top 5 WWE match of the year, and I think my favorite match of the year so far ****1/2

Roode vs Strong on NXT tonight was awesome. Maybe my favorite match of the year so far. Great story told in the ring and out. Fuck it, I'm going ****1/2

I'm a WWF homer, I know Bob Backlund 79-82 Hulk Hogan 84-87 Bret Hart 92-97

Would it kill Meltzer to spoiler tag stuff in the WON, such as when leading off the WWE section in this week's issue with basically two months of NXT spoilers out of nowhere
-
Yeah, I probably rated the show too low, but the last hour killed me with that horrible time limit draw and affected my overall rating. Tito vs Savage and Jake vs Steamer are both matches to seek out

Watching the show right now. It's awesome. Great cast -
Reigns vs Cena at Mania feels like a true epic main event. I totally want to see Reigns vs Lesnar again, but they should probably get that done before Mania. They could also bill Reigns vs Cena as Cena going for #17 and the record
