  1. Oh yeah, that whole thing was a disaster. The few loyal fans that were still chugging along hated it so much they stopped going to shows and shit.
  2. Is it? Suwama would be the only real success story out of that stable and he basically had to wait for Akiyama to return to get real momentum (which was years after he left the stable). And Kento's rise -which is the only real "star" All Japan has been able to produce in the past decade- had nothing to do with Voodoo Murders either. I feel like the heel stable that relies on cheating and fuckery hasn't worked in Japan in long ass time, fans tend to hate the concept and no one really ends up ripping any meaningful benefits. The exception would be Bullet Club, which had either very charismatic or "famous" foreigners is in charge when the stable worked.
  3. I don't know, it took like two months for Okada to overcome his lackluster re-debut. By the Korakuen match with Naito people were more than ok with his mega push. If anything, the lesson would've been "if they don't turn it around ASAP, they ain't it".
  4. Bubba, you are reaching Skip Bayless levels of bad takes for the sake of discussion
  5. I thought it was a good TV match. I sometimes feel AEW commentary really fights against Danielson matches as they try to set up Nigel as a heel too much and the shit that's happening in the ring gets lost if you don't put enough attention. Still, I came out of the match thinking the Nagata one was better.
  6. I think your are conflating different things. The company's momentum had died before MJF even had the belt, and acting like All In gave them any legit momentum is not accurate. All the things that happened in 2022 (in AEW and WWE) slowly but surely reduced AEW's rise and put it in the position it's been for the past 18 months or so. Wembley happened when ratings were already down and ticket sales were also going steadily down across the board and showing bad advances. All In was an oasis that had little to do with what the AEW or any of the wrestlers were doing (shit, it sold like 65k tickets without a single match announced). And the most over act in that show was MJF and Cole. Not very different from what is happening right now with Revolution. Which sold out and made them open up new areas to sell more tickets and is shaping up to be of their biggest PPVs ever. All in a context were the company is basically in the same place it was 4 months ago when MJF was still champ and it didn't look like he was going to lose the belt any time soon.
  7. I hope 3 of the 5-10 yearly matches Danielson is gonna have after his full time contract expires are in New Japan because short term, there's nothing that can bring me back. Someone @ me when they finally decide to give the new kids a real push.
  8. Cena (tries to) speaks on the whole Vince deal
  9. Makabe vs Thatcher is perfect for this show, nice get!
  10. And as fun as this build up to Mania's main event(s) is gonna be. I also wanna see if we get some sort of High Chief Rock vs Tribal Chief Roman energy by the time they decide to comeback to this angle at some point 2024.
  11. We need Hollywood Rock's theme back and this turn of events will be perfect. Gewirtz and Rock about to be acting a fool in the next 7 weeks, inject this fuckery in my veins. Of course it is, it's the fucking Rock finally having something to work with. A talented guy like him will never lose "it".
  12. Akiyama vs Danielson next week Who else is left? Negro Casas and Yuki Ishikawa?
  13. March 29th, it's happening!
  14. Yeah, Sumo Hall being the venue surprised me as well, I hope he gets some cool names. I also hopes he books Abe and Nomura, or least one of them.
  15. We gotta stop being this naive. TK is the same guy that was celebrating Rossy Ogawa getting fired because he didn't play ball with him.
  16. That's where I'm going at. If WWE had gotten them there would be much more talk about it, but since Tony is the one signing them, it's business as usual. I find that pretty interesting.
  17. Meltzer is reporting Rocky Romero is now part of AEW's front office. Tony Khan raided the fuck out of New Japan and people are just ok with it, oh how times have changed.
  18. Yeah, surprised they gave Okada a full sweep of every singles match he had this year. Went out like the Ace still, lol. Danielson vs ZSJ was incredible. One of those "game of human chess" matches that was done almost perfectly. Just absolutely loved Dragon screaming "FUCK!" at the 20 minute mark because he was the first one forced to do a rope break. They HAVE to end this with a submission match. Danielson got the first one out of sheer violence. Zack got this one out of a pin reversal but the roles were changed on this match as Bryan was the one coming out on top of most of the mat exchanges, and I gotta say I forgot how dope Dragon could be when he's not concerned about making the other guy look awesome (because it's not needed) and he can try his on shit to be the one being showcased. PS: I was dying laughing at that one loud Japanese fan that started chanting for Bryan, then went for Zack, then switched back and forth until Danielson refused a rope break and then the guy was just full on supporting Zack. Them loud ass "NO!" chants whenever Dragon hit a strike had me PS2: Oh shit, Danielson asked for a 2 out of 3 falls on "neutral ground" (not AEW or New Japan). I guess he's gonna try to have the match on Rev Pro.
  19. As expected, Mercedes already with a really good impact on tickets sales. Just in presales they've sold over 4k for the Boston show. I highly doubt TK will be able to book in a way to sustain this kind of positive impact but at least he's gonna reap the early benefits of having her.
  20. No, he's gonna get injured again in the build up to whatever big match he has next.
  21. I mean, the one that looked like a clown was Seth (in more ways than one). He was the real afterthought, had to stand there while 3 people were fighting for the real world title AND then became Cody's hype man I hope Roman and Rock's interactions don't disappoint. Heyman losing his shit at Rock making fun of his cousin and Roman trying to Tribal Chief his way against Rocky should be grade A fuckery. Reading the reactions from Saturday till today, I was honestly shocked at how little faith fans had on Rock making this shit entertaining. This is the type of situation he always thrives in.
  22. Yeah, we gonna get a waaaay more entertaining version of The Rock now that he has to actually try and not just go through the motions with the fans. We in for some highly entertaining fuckery fellas.
  23. The "Bo$$ton" graphic is a dead giveaway too. But to be honest, even though the wink wink I know you know promoting worked like a charm for Punk in Chicago, I think current AEW would've benefited more from straight up announce she was going to debut there. I hope I'm wrong though, they need all the momentum they can get and Revolution two weeks prior to that Boston show is gonna be a huge PPV to get things going.
  24. Hangman losing his mind because he doesn't want Swerve to win the belt is a nice angle. Now I wanna see how they book the three way.
  25. I'm all for live crowds booing Rock, forcing him to react on the spot and not do the same old rutine and catchphrases. Him having to be real and improvise is what makes him a special performer. I'll be shocked if he doesn't pivot to a more "Hollywood Rock" type of persona when the boos start on Thursday's press conference.
