TBF as a Fulham supporter they are doing quite well. But a lot of this I think is as much that TK isn’t paying attention and letting Marco Silva cook.
  2. Yeah if you’re in the states it also means you get the complete premier league package along with NFL and soon the NBA. So I’d say worth it.
  3. From memory it was a lot of candy, zit cream, and 1-800-Collect type things. Definitely not high brow.
  4. Kinda of ironic after all the were different stuff they run back to the most overused trope in wrestling of the past 25 years….
  5. I always wonder if WM 4 is the real dividing line between Earth 1 and Earth 2 WWF. It’s somewhere around there.
  6. What I’ve always wonders for those in arena appearances, ie things like the Flair/Neidhart angle, did they do the commentary live to tape or did just everyone out there for a segment or two? It seems more efficient to just have them just be out there to shoot the angle or get ambience and then let someone like Monsoon head to the back to run Gorilla.
  7. It’s pretty simple IIRC. Basically Dory Sr didn’t want Dory to drop the NWA to another babyface. Graham had been heavily pushing for Briscoe and when it was approved Dory I think had a “skiing accident” or something similar. The implication being Sr didn’t want Dory to job to Briscoe but it’s not entirely clear why. The thought was Sr. not wanting Jr. to job to a fellow babyface or possible concerns about a shoot. The rationale of Dory Sr is what isn’t clear. It was a big enough deal however that the NWA inserted Race as a transitional champ to get the belt from Dory to Jack. Race made sense since he was Kansas City based and tight with Muchnick who wanted a reliable heel to get the job done.
  8. It could also be a combo of Austin wasn’t that interested and just set an unreasonably high number so he wouldn’t have to do it. Also Taker was already for an induction so he didn’t have to travel. My guess Austin just might not be that interested, he had his final moment at Dallas and might not feel the need to do anything more.
  9. The Bucks are a cancer. Sorry. The sooner Tony realizes that these are the wrestling of Craig Kline and they run them off the better. Really it’s the only way for AEW to survive. https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2018/oct/09/fa-fulham-assistant-director-allegations this doesn’t have the whole story but the quote is a tell for me “My friend Tony & I built a paper trail and tried to report & do right for years, us both death threatened to not [sic]. So much fraud in football, FA where are you? So much child endangerment & exploitation. I have a lot of evidence, authorities, please request” Now here’s the rub not only was this proven to be incorrect but the guy ended up getting in legal trouble. It’s sounds a lot like the way the Bucks sound about AEW. Sooner Tony, Shad, or anyone in power realizes this the better.
  10. Yeah I mean one of the benefits of Romans long reign has been the slowing down of angles. One interesting aspect is that the chase territories tended to be weekly events while babyface territories tended to be monthly ones. That said there’s so many angles that can be worked here besides the obvious, overcoming Gunther, a turn from Seth, Heyman aligning with Punk to get revenge, McIntyre that they should be able to sustain it for at least year.
  11. Austin could make sense. I’m guessing that Rock Roman win night 1 in screwy circumstances. Following there’s a promo that Cody promises war(“payback is hell daddy”) and that he planned for every eventuality. For the bloodline he brings a guy to counter each of the bloodline guys including the friends he has made along the way, including Cena, Zayn, Owens etc (Brock? Cornette to counter Paul E would be fun but never happens). Austin could be the Rocks counter. B

Also makes me wonder if they got bad news on a tv renewal….
  13. Yeah Crockett is really the only other. Florida had the matches and storytelling but Graham was too cheap. Continental tried a bit but way too late and really it wasnt the fullers welch style. None of the Canadian promotions were strong enough and that left basically portland.
  14. Yeah with Watts he has said his plan was to basic rely on his base staying strong and build out with national TV. What killed him was the economic downturn that softened his numbers along with having to rely on a syndicate deal once Crockett got the TBS instead of Watts. And you could see how it would have worked if he kept the TBS deal. Grab Georgia, pickup the pieces in Missouri and TX. Even then he admits in the Cornette shoot that he it was going to be tough. His thought was the way things were going if he didn’t take the risk someone else would and eventually win. Basically better to go down fighting than to end up like Memphis or Portland.
  15. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was some damage but it’s not a broad issue like say the way the 70s decline in the auto industry had a hand in destroying the Detroit territory(not that the sheiks booking helped). Really the issues for the AWA were more that of the WWF invading their territory with Hogan, stale booking, and inability to develop new stars that McMahon didn’t snatch up. The farm issues weren’t high on the list of problems. If anything the rust belt issues that doomed Detroit applied far more here with areas like Milwaukee and Chicago than the farm issues that hurt the spot shows. Either way all of these territories had already built in issues that the economic situation simply exacerbated. WWF flopped in Mid South and avoided Dallas. Even Dallas though was as much the Von Erich issues as anything. Really Watts has the best argument as his only main loss was JYD and he was structurally pretty sound. Even then though Mid South under Watts was a small territory punching above its weight.
  16. Exactly it’s the Rock, he was always going to be given the leeway that someone on NXT isn’t. And as for Fox, they have a little over 6 months left on their deal and they are leaving. Unless Fox is threatening to pull them off the air they probably don’t care too much. Also considering they’re going Netflix for area where language isn’t an issue I would expect those rules are going to loosen some. Maybe not to attitude era levels but looser than the PG era when called for.
  17. This seems to be the most plausible explanation to me. Giving your girlfrield a job with no work while not ethical or right is not totally out of place in an overgrown mom n pop like the WWE was. Even a guy like Emmanuel probably looked at it the same way he looked at some studio boss in the 80s did. Its the conduct and what Vince did with her that drags this beyond the pale. Based on guys like Cornettes comments it seems like he careful with who he showed this side of personality. My guess is he kept Steph in dark but let guys like JJ in. Until the recent years when CTE/dementia has seemingly begun to set in he wasnt a stupid man and probably knew the types of people he could trust with this versus those he could not.
  18. Yeah he’s too old and not really with it anyone. As mentioned 15-20 years ago it’s probably likely but not today with trials and such coming up.
  19. Yeah thing is they have more footage of Bull Nakano and she even showed up when Dump had her brief run so it covers a few eras
  20. Yeah for me it’s interesting since I grew up near the where the thrashers played and it’s not surprising since HHH didn’t live far away from New Fairfield (I think he was in Shelton at the time). The whole Galante thing is crazy in retrospect though.
  21. From what I recall Bock went back to being a heel pretty much immediately and even in the feud while he was face against Adnan he still was quite heelish. The face turns happens in like 85ish in two ways. In the US it’s kind of awkward as he tries to keep his tag partner Larry Z from cheating against Greg Gagne and it degenerates from there. In Winnipeg which refused to book Gagne it was actually done a lot better as Mad Dog Vachon recruited him to fight Russians, similar to how Lawler would bring in guys like Funk as tag partners against tough teams. Bock agreed as he hated the Russians as well. Larry Z got jealous of Bock ignoring him for Mad Dog and turned. Which frankly made a lot more sense. This setup a Bock/Larry Z feud that would be a thing for a while.
  22. Yeah this is pretty much it. Probably the logical thing was hook on with either Cornette or Heyman and do either Smokey Mountain or ECW at a slightly higher level. Pick a region to focus on and slowly spread out from there if the show gets traction sports channel. Also create a local package for areas where sports channel doesn’t reach. Even then in the early 90s it’s probably not going to work.
  23. Sounds like she had dementia and he was her primary caregiver. Knowing his mental state and the massive challenges of caring for a dementia patient I can’t exactly say I’m surprised. Very sad situation.
  24. The story I had heard with this one was that the fans weren’t buying Bock getting handed the title when Vern retired. They did a heel vs heel feud with Kassie to trying heat Bockwinkel back up letting him essentially play babyface in the feud which was kinda fascinating.
  25. Ahhh it also echos the Triple H/ Rock rivalry so I’m ok with it. When it comes to the Rock Trips can’t help himself. It’s been a nice running bit.
