Still holding thumbs on the Sangre Chicana vs El Faraon apuesta. Seems the highlight video I have is the only existence of that match on tape. JVK has it (or has seen it, at least). It's available.

  6. From all accounts, it seems many of these huge news organisations confused the terms "dismissed" and "acquitted". Both are non-convictions, but one is a non-guilty finding where the case cannot be retried (acquittal) and the other is merely a dismissal of the case at present (which is what happened to Snuka). Incompetency doesn't render a defendant not-guilty, it merely means that they cannot face trial due to an inability to feasibly defend themselves. A test of incompetence can be overturned at a later date, and the defendant will stand trial again. In the case of Snuka, as far as I know, the prosecutors moved for the case to be dismissed and Snuka sent for treatment, after he was found unable to stand trial. If he hadn't passed, and was seen fit enough at a later stage, the case could have been reopened, something that could not be done if he was acquitted.
  7. I'm not sure how often he did it, but Virus spilling over the top-rope is a comedy spot he was using in trios as early as 1993
  8. My personal pick for most unintentionally hilarious trainwreck I've witnessed. Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. LA Park vs. Mascara Sagrada vs. Pirata Morgan vs. Hijo de Dos Caras vs. Demon Clown (IWRG 20/07/2014) After breaking the only two ladders they had, a one-sided step-ladder is found. Pirata and the referee are forced to hold the ladder for Dos Caras to climb (all while trying to maintain kayfabe - badly), naturally, everybody else just stops caring. Parka walks off for a good portion of the match, Demon Clown put in an all-time worst performance and when Caras finally managed to grab the belt, he couldn't pull it loose, leading to him dangling awkwardly for minutes while Pirata tries tugging on him as aid. There are Smackdown TV matches that are shorter than the time Caras spent tugging at his belt. It was so awful that IWRG ran the same match type again; much to the same horrible outcome. The Botchamania highlights start at 10:10
  9. This wasn't a classic, or anything really close, but it lived up to my expectations. Violent and gritty from the start with an awesome, AWESOME comeback in the segunda. Bullshit ref & ending aside, this was a neat appetizer for a possible apuesta. Super fun stuff.
  10. Sami Callihan. He's a talent that I'd go to bat for as one of the best of the "newer" generation. He knew how to be a comedy, shit-taking fatboy in HWA, when he slimmed down he knew exactly how to be a sniveling, little Tazmanian Devil and from 2008 onward looked like a BitW tier wrestler. He didn't blow much of anything out the water in NXT, and has looked very lacklustre in any of his indy matches since. Fair enough, I've not seen the two Evolve matches that are pimped in JVK's thread, but I can't imagine he's the Callihan of past; putting on classics with Finlay or Luke Harper and trying his damndest to produce a somewhat decent match out of AR Fox and Sabre.
  11. Doesn't Dave deeply value the importance and crowd investment within a match as an integral part to its rating? It would make more sense as to why certain shows or matches receive higher praise, when the work itself seems rather incongruous to the rating. Though the need to condemn or criticise Meltzer for these ratings is becoming rather played out. In the more broader community, his ratings are either gospel or the "shitty" opinions of a biased man. There's very little inbetween. Yes, he's biased, everyone is, and yes he has "differing" opinions, because he's human and comes to his own conclusions. It's a good enough guide to start with, but the dogged fixation on his ratings is just... strange. Watch what you love. End of.
  12. I think it might be just a little more than a simple 1-2 punch, considering the Tennessee Govt have issued a lien against TNA's assets for failing to pay taxes. Well, that and the music rights issues that have forced them to cut entrance music from Impact, leaving the wrestlers to come out to what appears to be complete silence*. * this is most likely no different than a normal TNA crowd reaction, though.
  13. Bit of a superfluous post, but I just wished to say what a wonderful resource this thread, as well as yours on Satanico, has been for me. The time and effort you've put in is exceptional. On topic, not that I have much to add, but is there much competition for greatest from debut. Riddle gets a lot of praise, and we've had the "great out the gate" thread before, but from the very first match, I can't think of any peers.Tamura had a damn clinic in his second ever match!
  14. Here's 7.5 hours of the Funks vs Sheik/Abdullah feud in one nifty video, spanning the years 1975-1981. 15/07/79 is the only missing match, apparently. Same uploader has some great matches, too. I don't follow Japanese wrestling much, so I'm unsure of what is new or not.

Are you sure that this happened? The only encounter I know of between them is this one: EL CANEK Y DOS CARAS VS STAN HANSEN Y BABY FACE As for Hogan/Canek, I think the only matches taped are these: EL CANEK Y HULK HOGAN VS RIKI CHOSHU Y KILLER KHAN Hulk Hogan & Antonio Inoki VS Andre The Giant & Canek

I'm still hoping to find this match; just from the highlights it looks like a top-placer in 80s lucha. Sangre Chicana vs El Faraon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szFDAf3uhlI
  17. JDownloader - you can grab entire channels, too.
  18. WWF Summerslam 1990 has 11 deceased of the 26 wrestlers that took part. I don't think there's a higher number than that. Maybe Wrestlemania 10?
  19. It was superb yet superb is too much of a letdown knowing my expectations of what they could have done. As someone as high as I am on Virus, I'm starting to tire of his formula now that he is getting indy bookings against actual talents. His title and lightning formula works against spotmonkeys who need to be plugged into matches like a stitch in a tapestry, but it disappoints me to see him do that against someone like Hechicero especially when the smile he had prematch just showed how in love he was with the prospect of working such a talent, at last. The matwork is excellent. Hechicero has great innovative spots to excite you when Virus breaks away from the mat but this needed to be Hechicero's formula than Virus. Both are technical wizards but Hechicero holds advantage in power spots and working his offence into places you least expect it. The way he hit the turnbuckle enzugiri was nasty and if the ropehung knee had ended the match it would be best finish of 2016 hands down. The problem is that I wanted to see the story follow a struggle of ideology. They both excel on the mat, but Virus does that as his bread and butter. Trying to keep Hechicero down and into counters would have been a great foil for Hechicero to work his beautiful counters into and then place his offence from. There were spots that showed this, and those are some of the best wrestling I've seen in a long time, but a Virus lightning formula is too short to let that story breathe. They go home too early and it hurts the flow. Give this 20 minutes with that story and these guys will give you a match of the decade contender. Still, this was some great stuff.
  20. This all feels like a swan-song of wrestlecrap, but I hope TNA never stops with the classics https://twitter.com/PopTV/status/740260052871741440
  21. This was really good when they were brawling across the arena. I must have come across like a Zandig soundbite to everyone around me while watching this as I kept screaming JESUS at almost every blow these guys took. From the punches, to the cane shots to the headbutts into the wall, it all looked super nasty. Once they hit the ring, though, it all came across all too cutesy. "Indy" is a good enough label for Mendoza/Cuervo in the finishing stretch, and their tag team moves probably came across as better ideas than in actual practice. They felt too weak in comparison to the violence that had escalated to the finishing run. What came at the start, though, made me salivate for more Puerto Rican wrestling.
  22. I wasn't sure where to post this, but I'm looking for the entire match (I've got highlights upped on my channel) Sangre Chicana vs El Faraon Caballera contra Caballera 07/03/1986 EMLL Arena Mexico There's lucha bloodbaths then there's this massacre.
  23. Dragon Lee El Cachorro (The Panther) I'm surprised by how little talk Panther is getting. He looked super during En Busca, and the next standout wrestler. I understand that Dragon Lee gets more of a spotlight, as he's been awarded the opportunity to excel, but Cachorro shouldn't be slept on.
  24. Hopefully these two channels will make up for some of the loss that skkDDT was Lotsa Terry Funk Good luck with getting names on this one, though
  25. 1) Flair 2) Bryan 3) Kobashi 4) Hansen 5) Kawada 6) Misawa 7) Lawler 8) Funk 9) Liger 10) Mysterio
