  1. I'll be out of bed in 7 hours. I think I'm safe on that front.
  2. Show me a link and I'm there.
  3. Honestly being Montreal made my draft a lot easier. Getting big names there besides Bravo and Leduc was something I could put off in favor of guys I wanted to build that would disappear. I almost made it on Bravo or Leduc, but if all I missed out on was those two it was a pretty good draft.
  4. The tournament to crown new Canadian International Tag Team champions has been finalized. Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith will indeed be in the tournament, as will the Cuban Assassins from Maple Leaf Wrestling. Also announced for this card, NWA Canadian champion Rick Martel will be defending his title against "Canada's Strongest Man" Dino Bravo. Rumors have been circulating about another big Montreal Forum show on the 30th of July involving Andre the Giant. These are unsubstantiated at this point, but further details will be forthcoming. edit: The team name for the Tongans has been changed to the Tongan Terrors as I felt it was more indicative of their gimmick.
  5. Yeah, I think that's the weakness of having only a play-by-play guy. If you have a heel and/or face color guy there is quite a bit more to be done with announcing. Or even just a semi-heel guy who can live with some of the stuff heels do but only wants to see it go so far.
  6. Shy, quiet type ladies. *wink, wink* Yeah, Rude always was really shy.
  7. In about 10 minutes I am up for some Vancouver.
  8. I'm busy watching some AWA.
  9. Gille Poisson
  10. I thought the highlights of NXT were the beginning and the end. The mixed tag match was forgettable but well structured, the women's squash was fine for what it was. I liked the Dusty tribute and want to spend all day looking up Dusty promos now. Hard times indeed. The main event was at least good even if it could have been more. Then again, you want more on the blowoff match, not the initial one.
  11. I have one for sure in Quebec that is coming up after Memphis picks that was a big name in the early to mid 80s. The reason I took Goulet before him is because from my reading Goulet was a guy who could drag a good match out of anyone, was on the midcard level just about everywhere and had name value in Quebec. He can run matches, especially on house shows, with guys like LaFon and Tonga John, work with Armand Rougeau in tags to help him improve, etc. to help build up the future guys as far as skill goes. My next pick is sadly going to be a JTTS type who gets a few pins over midcard guys, does jobs for his semi-regular team with Lefebvre and leads the younger guys through matches. I've never seen him wrestle, but I hate taking a name guy and making him into that. I have ten guys I want to feature going forward plus Gino Brito, who was a really big name in Quebec and it's just not feasible to keep more than that hot. To even do that I am going to have to borrow in talent a lot so that those guys don't do too many jobs. Looking at it right now, the teams I want to be my #2 face and heel are #4 and #3 respectively. I have a good six months to a year of booking them to get them where I want them. Even Brito is going to end up falling victim to some jobs that he very likely would not have done during the later part of that. And what really sucks is that I get two and a half years to run with Lefebvre before he dies. After some of the planned feuds he is gonna be a contender regardless of his partner for the tag straps.
  12. I'm looking at an hour of TV, 1.5 to 2 on the big shows and house shows are around an hour and a half.
  13. I would also like to have Stan Hansen on the 20th of July if that works.
  14. I'd like Stan for a December 31st show if he's willing to work in Canada that evening.
  15. The International Wrestling Association is proud to announce that it will be holding an eight team tournament to crown new Canadian International Tag Team Champions on July 2nd in the Montreal Forum. Slated to appear are the following teams. The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers The Midnight Express The Can Am Express Gino Brito/Tony Parisi Sgt. Slaughter/Mad Dog Lefebvre Armand Rougeau/Rene Goulet The team of Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith is rumored to be in the tournament as well. Dino Bravo is rumored to be wrestling on the show in singles competition. Get your tickets now!
  16. Actually, I do have plans for Lefebvre that don't involve jobbing to put people over. It was a confluence of the guy being over in Montreal and me having plans for him that made him that high. Depending when you tape TV we can work out a deal on semi-consistent dates he shows up n Portland. My research also suggested that he was 1/2 of the tag champs at the time with Patterson, making him at least a midcard/upper midcard guy in the area. Seemed like the right pick to make for where I was.
  17. I didn't know who would be around when KrisZ ended up making his pick. You three seemed like the best bets to be on the board and ready to get my pick done ASAP and keep things moving.
  18. I'm leaving for work in under an hour, so I left my pick with Matt D, goc and Grimmas. I have no cares who puts it in, just wanted to make sure it was somebody who was around within that 5 hour window and wouldn't hold things up needlessly.
  19. I would like to request Stan Hansen on the 30th of July.
  20. Two arguments so far have really caught my attention. The idea that there is a drive to consume is absolutely spot-on to me. But I have certain things I am looking for in the wrestling I am driven to consume. A number of snowflakes is not one of them. I've said before that Kawada vs. Hansen and Tully vs. Magnum are my two favorite wrestling matches. Those matches contain everything I need at the most basic level to enjoy wrestling. Would I give them both *****? I honestly don't know. I could watch each again and come up with new details to add to the old ones that I absolutely love and write a short essay on them. And then do it again in a few months with a different review from the last. The reasons I love or like a wrestling match are far more important to me than how much I enjoyed it. So when I read somebody else's reviews I look for details that I would see and fall in love with. I don't care one bit how many snowflakes are attached to the end. Does that make me different from most? I have no idea, but it's how I approach wrestling. As for not watching wrestling in a bad mood I have my views on that. I won't watch a MVC match in a bad mood because I'm likely to shit all over it mentally or in writing. Even their better matches rub me the wrong way if I'm unhappy going in. But watching something that is up my alley immediately perks me up and brings me back to a better mood. So I'm not entirely against watching wrestling when I'm a bit pissed off as long as it's something that I know won't make it worse.
  21. My pick is used up because I took a tag team in 11.
  22. That's an interesting idea for sure. Having an outsider in some kind of governing position may work well.
  23. I'd just like to be part of the NWA.
  24. I think I've got a pretty good main event/midcard tag division going on in Montreal. I need to fill in blanks for sure, but I have feuds for a while and some good sources of outside talent to keep things fresh. It's just that it took this long to build even the majority of a good tag division and I haven't gotten any jobbers picked as of yet. Trying to go singles may have proven a bit easier in draft #1.
  25. For some reason I can't make any kind of link work on this. On obsessedwithwrestling.com there is a referees list for various promotions/territories that seems pretty comprehensive. If someone knowledgeable about the Montreal territory in the 80s could point me at a few of the refs active around 83 that would be greatly appreciated. I figured anyone looking for a good ref list would appreciate the link and perhaps some guidance from those a bit more familiar with their territory than they are if that is the case.
