  1. That i can definitely agree with
  2. I know hes referring to storyline in this but it is particularly tone deaf It really shows just how far under the radar Impact is, tbh, as if this were AEW or even ROH I think there'd be uproar. There's excusing him or Austin really but the company playing into his history and making a storyline of it is really quite something.
  3. I get the impression that the fanbase has dwindled a bit now whereas a few years ago the mainstream crossover of both Ronda & WWE was a lot wider Rousey is yesterday's news in terms of MMA now, too. If she came back she'd draw but the last couple of fights hurt her mystique a lot, so the WWE stint would only really work once unless there was a compelling angle. I think Charlotte has had some great moments in-ring but does she make a storyline bang? No If Amanda Nunes or Pena turned up, maybe I'm amazed they haven't shelled out for Cyborg but i think Bellator still have three fights on the deal
  4. Very excitable response @El-P! No need to get so invested, it's not an attack Look at it this way- say there's a hugely successful underground band or group of DJs or stand-up comedians etc; let's say half a dozen headliners, good supporting cast. Potential to tour all over, drawing big crowds, and running independently A benefactor comes in and offers them a good salary but no other benefits. A "bigger audience" but no equity and all profits belong to the boss. The boss is a big fan but an outsider. In any other industry do you defend the boss.
  5. Of course I understand the concept of financial backing, I'm not an idiot. But if you think that Khan is the only way this hypothetical promotion could have existed, you're wrong; he was just the person who got there first. As for the conceptual EVPs not taking even minor equity, more fool them. You can say "without Khan it's nothing," what does he have without the "Elite"'s connections and hype behind them. He's just a rich Internet poster if you take them away from this scenario. I would think Cody is just the first to realise this and is off to get himself a bigger payday
  6. I would look at it the other way - Cody left wwe and by all accounts was a large motivator in managing to corral the disparate streams of indie momentum into one specific moment w/ All-In At this position a multi-millionaire takes all their momentum and squirrels it off for himself, cuts the head off any individual promotions momentum & makes it about "his" brand. The ringleaders make the mistake of not getting any equity in the operation & now its not theirs in the slightest. If I were the other EVPs I would be be very weary of their boss after this escapade. Vince style manoeuvring, and in any other cultural industry I'd call it gentrification I do really like the AEW product and find Cody quite boring as a face (he could be a great, great heel). But it's not cut and dry this one, i dont think AEW come up smelling of roses at all
  7. Brandi and Charlotte Flair is money just in car crash potential alone
  8. Austin as the hot tag i could deal with and would even get into. He cant be working a whole singles match surely?
  9. Obviously he will go there but in terms of TV and placement long-term i dont think it works
  10. Its not even really that obvious where Cody would fit into WWE's current structure to be honest. He doesn't really work that well as a face so he has to be a heel long-term, even if he comes in as a face, but storyline or position wise does he really come in above a KO or even Sami Zayn? I cant see them pushing him to the moon to be honest, especially considering how petty the departure was at the time Is there any money in a quick New Japan run? I have no idea on how their business is doing at the moment or pandemic scenario etc
  11. I heard tonight that contrary to popular belief the Ali problems are rooted in him being asked to be a "flamboyant" character as opposed to a jihadist
  12. I thought it was too good to be true. Oh well
  13. Is Regal doing Bloodsport? Noticed a retweet today
  14. Hopefully Lio Rush for the full headfuck experience. Definitely feels like the most hot take rumble in years this one, think the really low expectations could help it in a way as no-one anywhere seems to think it will be good.
  15. Just have him take a zipline up into the rafters never to be seen again, job done
  16. Knowing this lot the idea of naming him after a Nazi commander is probably a plus
  17. There's no chance WWE let him in the rumble without a deal. After his middling tv presence over the last year, though, is he going to spark any kind of bidding war anyway? It feels like a work to me
  18. Maybe he just wants to reunite new age outlaws now road dogg is out of NXT.
  19. Now this is something I've never saw before https://twitter.com/HeyyImRob/status/1474215188555612160
  20. Yea in theory that will be an instant improvement. It was just one of those moments watching it where you think for fucks sake not you again
  21. It was this lot that made me tire of NXT and i was a pretty avid viewer until that point Booker's arrogance coming into play here- i can do this better than they can. Time will tell i guess. Sting is unbelievably good for his age
  22. There are probably better quality clips
  23. NXT UK in-ring is great but commentary is awful It really is a studio show, though, if you are nostalgic for that
  24. He is also one of the few genuinely likeable characters they have, I'm not surprised they made such an effort to keep him, even if he doesn't necessarily have the WWE look. When is Sami Zayn's deal up?
