  1. I'm starting to turn the corner on the Young Bucks. Between their match with Steen/Generico on Will's 2013 comp, and against the Hero/Claudio, I thought they were shit. But, as I'm watching more PWG, I'm starting to appreciate them a bit. What's the consensus on reDRagon? I haven't seen either of them in years.
  2. I listened this at work the other night, as background noise. The only time Amman gets mentioned by name is the very beginning, when he refers to him as "Dr. Amman" He just calls him "the doctor" or "doc" the rest of the time. Colt actually did try to stick up for him at one point; when Punk tells the story of the concussion during the Rumble and how Amman asked Punk what he wanted him to do, and Punk just replied that he was a worthless POS. Colt asks Punk what WAS he actually supposed to do?
  3. Joey Styles used to call Umaga the Samoan Smashing Machine, which was obviously a direct reference to TNA's nickname for Joe.
  4. I'm sure ROH and PWG will scoop him up the first chance they get.
  5. I seem to recall hearing, ages ago, that part of the reason to let Austin just be himself had to do with him doing commentary on Raw. The 7/22/96 Raw features Austin on commentary during Marc Mero vs. The Goon, and Austin is a riot. At one point he brings up the Lex Express, and tells Vince that he wants his own tour bus.
  6. Flair beating Hogan for the WCW Title in 1999 was one a very few great moments for them that year, same with Benoit/Malenko winning the tag titles that night.
  7. This is probably the best YB match I've seen so far, because, they don't go spot-crazy. Aries and Strong work them over and they do a good job selling the puishment, and then when it's their turn, they keep things simple. Some might not like the hundred back and chest rakes, but, they made it work, and Nick mocking Aries was amusing and they were good at keeping Aries from making the save. After Strong tags out, he and Aries are back in control and it seems more and more like they're going to win the titles, especially after Aries pushing Nick off the top rope and they have Matt all to themselves, but, Matt doesn't stay down. He blow anything off, he takes the abuse and barely kicks outs The finish comes down to Matt outsmarting, and out wrestling Strong, when he counters his backbreaker attempt into a crucifix and steals the win. As much as the Bucks have annoyed me while watching their PWG work, and made me scoff at hearing them being called the best team in the world, they finally showed me something here. Edit: In fact, the only real exposing part of the match was when Nick when for the Last Chancery and Strong put him in the Stronghold, and that was only because Nick had to slow things down, because Roddy wasn't ready.
  8. El Generico and Claudio Castagnoli had a good pair of matches in 2011 for PWG. A January 2011 PWG Title match, and a BOLA match in August.
  9. I'm 98% sure it's from Florida, based on the Solie reference that you mentioned. And, I'm pretty sure the PYT's head already split from WCCW by the time Pringle showed up, which I would guess would be 1986-ish.
  10. I think Dustin could have made it into top guy territory if he stuck around. He was than good enough in the ring to carry his end of the matches. He'd have been a natural (pun intended) standing alongside other WCW stalwarts like Sting against the nWo.
  11. The PYT's segment from the Black History month collection is one of the most awesome things ever.
  12. Yes, on his RF shoot from way back in the day. He claims that Vince's promo about the Smokin' Skull belt going over his mantle was stolen from Vince's conversation with him.

Is is futile at this point to hold out hope that the incessant boos, and general negative reaction to the Reigns push, cause cooler heads to prevail and give Bryan another shot? I don't think the major announcement is Bryan getting in the match. But, I could see them doing something at the PPV.
  14. Funny. One of the quotes from Sydal, when KC was promoting this, was that he wasn't going to burn the bridge. He was going to blow it up!
  15. What is it that WWE finds so appealing about a Bryan/Sheamus program for WrestleMania? This will be the third time they've run it.
  16. Eddie vs. HHH from the Raw with the 2004 draft.

I really don't think adding Cena to the Reigns/Lesnar is going to help matters. The crowd last night cared about exactly three people in the Rumble: Bryan, Ambrose, and Ziggler, and, to a less extent, Cesaro and Bray. I can actually understand Vince's idea about going back to Bryan feeling like a step backwards, but, unless they find some way to turn things around for Reigns, he's the next Batista.
  18. I thought he made a lot of good points, like how he learned to wrestle before doing the the stuff with chairs and tables, and talking about looking back at some of the risk that he took. But, he just seemed so in the dark about a lot of the stuff that Sean brought up, which, by his own admission, is because he was in the parking lot with Sabu and not part of Paul's inner circle.
  19. When I was a kid reading PWI, some kid at school saw the date was two months from then and assumed that it was proof of wrestling being fake because I was reading about things that hadn't happened yet. So, I had to flip to the ratings page and show the "for period ended" date, which showed what time frame it was actually covering.
  20. They were using Springsteen's Born in the USA at the Spectrum show in August when they dropped the tag titles to Valentine and Beefcake.
  21. Morrison tried out for season 2 and showed off his gymnastics. JR asked if he can do the Spinaroonie, and John digs his own grave by asking "What's the Spinaroonie?"
  22. It seems to me that there could potentially be a few possibilities. KC has worked with Martel, Zybyszko, Animal, Greg Gagne, and Janetty. Unless travel is a big issue, then I don't see why they couldn't do something with the Clawmaster.
  23. And Raven has talked at length about how shitty his memory is from those days . . . .
  24. I really liked this, aside from the spot where Generico no-sold the uppercut and did the running boot. Generico had been selling the knee so well that it just seemed out of place. Other than that this was really smartly worked, and serves as another example of how great these two work together.
