I've never heard of him until I read this thread, but, now I want to see him, based on the name alone. It sounds like the next generation of Da Crusher.

Perro Aguayo Jr. (July 23, 1979-March 21, 2015)

When I first started trying to seriously watch lucha way back in 2004-05 he was a huge standout, and I couldn't believe that I'd never heard of him before. When he appeared at the end of the TripleMania show a few years back (the one with La Parka vs. L.A. Park) I was seriously marking out. Such sad news. I can only imagine how bad Rey and TJP are feeling. BTW, Winged Eagle, definitely check out the Leyenda de Plata from 2004, when Perrito gets awared the trophy by Santito and then proceeds to smash it himself. -
Not so much. The way he put it was that he doesn't know what he was thinking, but, that he must have thought it was the right thing to do.

I'm late to the party of great trainers who didn't draw money, but what about Rip Rogers?

There was a TV angle where Adonise was going to cut someone's hair, but accidentally got Beefcake instead, so he was pissed. Piper beat Adonis, and Beefcake came out to cut the hair for revenge. Hence: Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake! -
He gave off that bully vibe when he coached that one season of Tough Enough. I wonder if 2015 Bill would also call 2002 Bill a faggot, for crying when he found out that Ted Petty passed away.

I got a kick out of Ventura needling Harley a bit for forgetting to mention his family and asking Jesse to do it for him. And, then, Jesse forgot to mention his own.

The line about the Meltzer run-in during the tag titles match cracked me up! -

Not that I think sending Karl out by himself was a good idea, but, what's the alternative, other than scrapping Karl from the match? Pair him up with Romantic Touch? Tight budget or not, it's pretty stupid to spend the coin to fly in another Bullet Club member, like Fale or Tonga, if they're not planning on using them. -
I'm starting to turn the corner on the Young Bucks. Between their match with Steen/Generico on Will's 2013 comp, and against the Hero/Claudio, I thought they were shit. But, as I'm watching more PWG, I'm starting to appreciate them a bit. What's the consensus on reDRagon? I haven't seen either of them in years.

I listened this at work the other night, as background noise. The only time Amman gets mentioned by name is the very beginning, when he refers to him as "Dr. Amman" He just calls him "the doctor" or "doc" the rest of the time. Colt actually did try to stick up for him at one point; when Punk tells the story of the concussion during the Rumble and how Amman asked Punk what he wanted him to do, and Punk just replied that he was a worthless POS. Colt asks Punk what WAS he actually supposed to do?

Can we just call Samoa Joe "that poor fucker" now?

Joey Styles used to call Umaga the Samoan Smashing Machine, which was obviously a direct reference to TNA's nickname for Joe. -

I'm sure ROH and PWG will scoop him up the first chance they get. -
I seem to recall hearing, ages ago, that part of the reason to let Austin just be himself had to do with him doing commentary on Raw. The 7/22/96 Raw features Austin on commentary during Marc Mero vs. The Goon, and Austin is a riot. At one point he brings up the Lex Express, and tells Vince that he wants his own tour bus.

Flair beating Hogan for the WCW Title in 1999 was one a very few great moments for them that year, same with Benoit/Malenko winning the tag titles that night. -
This is probably the best YB match I've seen so far, because, they don't go spot-crazy. Aries and Strong work them over and they do a good job selling the puishment, and then when it's their turn, they keep things simple. Some might not like the hundred back and chest rakes, but, they made it work, and Nick mocking Aries was amusing and they were good at keeping Aries from making the save. After Strong tags out, he and Aries are back in control and it seems more and more like they're going to win the titles, especially after Aries pushing Nick off the top rope and they have Matt all to themselves, but, Matt doesn't stay down. He blow anything off, he takes the abuse and barely kicks outs The finish comes down to Matt outsmarting, and out wrestling Strong, when he counters his backbreaker attempt into a crucifix and steals the win. As much as the Bucks have annoyed me while watching their PWG work, and made me scoff at hearing them being called the best team in the world, they finally showed me something here. Edit: In fact, the only real exposing part of the match was when Nick when for the Last Chancery and Strong put him in the Stronghold, and that was only because Nick had to slow things down, because Roddy wasn't ready.

El Generico and Claudio Castagnoli had a good pair of matches in 2011 for PWG. A January 2011 PWG Title match, and a BOLA match in August.

I'm 98% sure it's from Florida, based on the Solie reference that you mentioned. And, I'm pretty sure the PYT's head already split from WCCW by the time Pringle showed up, which I would guess would be 1986-ish.

I think Dustin could have made it into top guy territory if he stuck around. He was than good enough in the ring to carry his end of the matches. He'd have been a natural (pun intended) standing alongside other WCW stalwarts like Sting against the nWo.

The PYT's segment from the Black History month collection is one of the most awesome things ever.

Yes, on his RF shoot from way back in the day. He claims that Vince's promo about the Smokin' Skull belt going over his mantle was stolen from Vince's conversation with him.

Is is futile at this point to hold out hope that the incessant boos, and general negative reaction to the Reigns push, cause cooler heads to prevail and give Bryan another shot? I don't think the major announcement is Bryan getting in the match. But, I could see them doing something at the PPV.
-
Funny. One of the quotes from Sydal, when KC was promoting this, was that he wasn't going to burn the bridge. He was going to blow it up!

What is it that WWE finds so appealing about a Bryan/Sheamus program for WrestleMania? This will be the third time they've run it.
