  1. 1984 was Mid South's best year for business, so that's the short answer, which others already covered in great detail. What I think is getting slept on though, is how much better a deal that Watts got in the talent trade with Jarrett. Watts got Bobby and Dennis, Ricky and Robert, Terry Taylor, and Bill Dundee. All of whom already had at least five years experience and were developed as workers. Cornette only had about a year, but he'd had the chance to work in Georgia as well as work with, and learn from, Jimmy Hart, so he wasn't fresh off the boat or anything. Jarrett did some good stuff with Rude, but he was a few years away from becoming a good worker. Neither Higgins or Neidhart ever got very good. Denton and Anthony's Memphis run was rather unremarkable compared to how the rest of their careers panned out, and they were back with Watts by 1985.
  2. Why wouldn't Vince want to avoid a potential headache? Bret is still the top babyface when he's dropping the title. If Nash flops, what other options does he have? Lex was damaged goods. Bulldog, Razor and Kid aren't on that level. UT is over, but not very good in the ring. And now Vince has pissed off Bret by making him put over King Kong Bundy (just for instance, I have no idea how Bret felt about him), to start up the failed Diesel experiment. So, Bret is now pissed and wants to head down South or just sit out the contract. Or, Vince can just let Bret have his way, knowing that it's a few days and if something goes wrong, he has Bret to pick up the pieces.
  3. Hogan went to Japan and worked the 5/3 Dontaku show. He gave a rather infamous interview trashing (proverbially, not literally like Madusa) the WWF Title, and calling it a toy and trinket. It's not on Youtube, but I know I've seen it somewhere.
  4. JC addressed this on his last podcast. He had apologized to Alice for making her uncomfortable, and admitted that he was purposely overdoing it to make for entertaining radio and to mess with her. He didn't have anything negative to say about her, which means that he must not have heard the I Quit podcast. She didn't mention him by name, but made mention of dealing with 'closet racists' and also only named MVP and Alex Greenfield as people she had nothing negative to say about. I listened to the Muslim rant again tonight, and there are a few times that you can tell that Jim is trying to have a little fun.
  5. I think it's gone. She took down the entire RWR site and every link I can find winds up being dead.
  6. Alice put up her side of the story on RWR in a six minute podcast called "I Quit." The combo of Jim's Muslim rant, dealing with assholes on social media, and the fact that nobody listened to RWR even though that was her true passion, caused her to decide enough was enough.
  7. Great stuff here, Bix. The tape trading discussion was really fascinating stuff!
  8. Just throwing this out there: Does anyone think they have the balls to try to fully get behind Reigns as a top babyface, by turning Cena heel to wrestle him at 'Mania?
  9. Technically, they have all of 1993 through 1995 and the second RAW of 1996 and are working through 2000. But, the 1/1/96 RAW Bowl is still missing.
  10. I'm surprised to see that the RAW with the Radicalz debut got to see the light of day. Watch the Christian vs. D-Von match and drink everytime JR says uses the adjective 'damn' to describe the Dudleys.
  11. The whole Lawler/Dundee saga from the 10/19 Memphis TV.
  12. It's criminal that this one is getting slept on. I just watched the Flair/Wahoo/Tully angle the other night, where Tully sucker punches Flair, and Flair gets in Wahoo's face about not helping him, and Wahoo pretty much tells Flair that since Tully had given Wahoo a shot at the title he holds, that he had no problem with Tully. Flair: You want a title shot, you got it! Wahoo: Show me a contract, I know how to write!
  13. Why wouldn't Bret trust Vince on a handshake deal? Vince wouldn't go back on his word to Bret. . . .
  14. With all the Starrcade events being available in the PPV section, even the ones that predated PPV. I hope to see Crockett Cups and Superstars on the Superstation get added too.
  15. I'm picking up what you're putting down, Beast. Yes, Bret is completely within his right to tell Vince and co. "Fuck you, pay me!" as far as the Stampede footage goes. But, Bret also always tries to paint this picture of his fans meaning everything to him. Hell, he first made nice with Vince ten years ago to participate in the WWE produced Bret Hart DVD, to make sure it was the best possible product for the fans, instead of another Ultimate Warrior hatchet job. So, you'd think that Bret would try to work something out with them, so that the fans could enjoy this footage that probably 95% of the network subscribers have never seen and would thoroughly enjoy.
  16. Cornette tells a great story in 1989 Timeline, where they drew a record low house in Greensboro because they ran it on a Wednesday night. When he asked Joe Pedicino why hell they did that, Joe told him that they had to save the weekend shows for the big towns like Philly. So, Jim showed him just what kind of houses they were drawing in Greensboro, even just the year before and Pedicino was flabbergasted.
  17. He seemed to have run his course, and was pretty much a JTTS by Summer of 1996. He took part in the angle where Scorpio was holding open challenges for Loser Leaves ECW Matches at November 2 Remember 1996 and dropped a fall (along with another ECW Mainstay JT Smith). He did a small comeback in 1997 to team with Balls and Axl against the Dudleys and that was pretty much it for him.
  18. Very sad news, I was always a big fan of the Shah. I remember watching him when I was twelve years old. When ECW was on the Empire Sports Network. I can't beleive that he wasn't even ten years older than me.
  19. I'm so sorry, CFCW. Good luck in your fight.
  20. There's also OVW. I'm surprised there hasn't been somewhat of a push for that considering that Cena, Batista, Brock and Orton were there in the early 00s. Sooner and later they will probably buy Memphis and WWC. I'm not sure what would they do with the latter, though. I thought they'd already bought WWC, part of why they put Carlos in the HOF.
  21. I've been doing my duty and watching all the territory stuff on WWE Network, to keep the goodness coming. I was watching the AWA episode with the Rockers/Badd Company title change from The Showboat. Someone (I'm guessing in a balcony, even though there wasn't one visible that I could tell) had a sign that said "FAG" and it was hanging down and swinging all over the place.
  22. I assume you're also timmy8271b on youtube? BTW, mikecampbell411 on the twitter machine.
  23. Wasn't Embry also the booker?
  24. They fixed the error with that one episode of World Championship Wrestling being listed in the wrong year.
