  1. Speaking of 1984, WWF 1984 was an incredible year. You had new champ Hogan facing a variety of heels on top, Slaughter's face turn and feud with Sheik, Tito winning the IC belt and feuding with various heels arriving like Orndorff and Schultz then Valentine coming in and getting it, the arrival of Piper and the Pit and his fued with Snuka, the Cyndi Lauper angle, Tonga Kid becoming the hottest thing going for awhile, JYD coming in, Atlas and Johnson being red hot then Adonis and Murdoch coming in, and Windham and Rotundo getting there at the end of the year, and more. Edit: I for got Heenan coming in, and Studd and Patera cutting Andre's hair. I was looking at the History of WWF site and was surprised to see just how long Backlund stuck around after the title loss. I don't recall him being on TV much.
  2. Meanwhile , he can always go back to his old job throwing garbage cans at Italian plumbers.
  3. Because his nickname was 'fabulous" ? Read the obit again. Especially the prt about who's doing the service. We were no selling it. Not entirely surprised Fulton became a man of the cloth, given the multiple mentions of his faith in the ROH shoot interview (not that it was annoying, just he did bring it up a few times). Shows what I know. I figured it was a different Fulton and it was just a funny coincidence.

  5. What was the deal with the Joe/ Briscoe "outrage"? That was the first ROH show I went to and I went in with no knowledge of the story lines. I had a total blast and became an immediate super fan, at least for a few years.
  6. Maybe it's just me, but I'd cheer the Wyatt Family over the Shield.
  7. This is an odd statement since this is precisely what they did to Christian last week and not very much of what they were doing in the weeks prior to that. Invoking NWO is a serviceable strawman though Yeah, and Christian now is facing them because of it and got a measure of revenge leading to the PPV. I'm not saying get rid of the Shield run ins, it's an over gimmick. But eventually they can't always dominate. And don't give me that straw man bullshit. It's a fair comparison and "straw man" is one those worn out expressions that's fucking annoying.
  8. Well how many times can you have them run in and destroy everyone? Then it becomes as boring and annoying as the NWO became
  9. You have to build up the Usos and Christian as legit contenders or else you have a PPV with two matches that no one would pay to see. Well, maybe not Christian as much but definitely the Usos.
  10. Really? Nothing for my "Fantastic service" line? Sheesh, tough crowd.

I think it was funnier that Vince said that he didn't want a short guy with mental issues in the main event on the anniversary. And the new Wyatt Family promo fucking ruled.
  12. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/salisbury...725#fbLoggedOut Well, it'll be a Fantastic service.

It was short, but they had Lawler, JBL, and Cole talk a little about Jackie Fargo tonight during a match and it was cool. Lawler mentioned that someone tweeted him that 39 years ago tonight he was wrestling Fargo in the Mid South Coll.
  14. Chill, Bro. Maybe you just made a great point and no one wants to argue.
  15. Austin's latest is with Eric Young, and it's fucking great. It's a perfect example of just how great Austin is at this, and Eric is a blast.
  16. Flair fought Road Warrior Hawk at the 86 Philly Bash, guys.
  17. http://ricflair.com/index.php?page=shop.pr...t&Itemid=29 Fuck it, I'll buy one.
  18. The new show with Bret Hart is really good. Hearing Austin and Hart talk about the Bret/ Steamboat match from Boston is some good shit.

Apter left all those in 99 I think. He went with WOW magazine in a gamble.
  20. Personal hatred trumps real sports thinking in wrestling...thank god.
  21. Fucking Punk vs Jericho was fucking great. I fucking loved it. Jericho was fucking great, Punk looked fucking fantastic. The crowd was fucking killer, and Jerry Fucking Lawler is my fucking hero for trying to turn the kayfabe breaking chant "This is awesome!" into a kayfabe "This pro Punk crowd thinks its awesome that Punk is kicking out!" or something fucking like that. Fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck...fuck fuck.
  22. Punk's Blackhawks gear fucking rules.
