I've written about how I love Norman because of my Dad plenty of times, and this Clash is a great memory cause he watched it with me. I'll never forget him laughing his ass off at Norman holding the toilet seat in front of his face.

[1990-02-06-NWA-Clash of the Champions X] "Cactus Jack is dead!"
Johnny Sorrow replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Was she talking? -
How was it not just as likely that a robbery ended up in mass execution? Because that's incredibly unlikely? Once you hear the whole family was dead, these are the options: - Execution of THE ENTIRE FAMILY in a home invasion, because...why exactly? How often does that even happen. especially in affluent suburbs? It's not like they were running drugs for the cartels. - Carbon monoxide poisoning (which, while not 100% , would have a high likelihood of being a murder-suicide anyway). - Murder-suicide. (Some people said "gas leak" at the time, as well, but it's not the gas that kills you, it's an explosion setting off the gas, so the headline would've been the whole family perishing in a fire, not just them being dead.) Of those scenarios, what's the most likely? Considering that radio and Tv are constantly trying to sell Carbon Monoxide detectors with stories about families dying, that seemed most likely. Maybe I'm crazy, but when something awful like that happens my mind doesn't immediately jump to murder/ suicide. Oh, and if you watch Regal on that show, it's clear he suspected something.

When it was only revealed that the whole family was dead, a lot of folks, myself included, first thought CO poisoning, as that was the sane rational thing to think.

The Regal/ Zumhofe match is great, because it's so bad we riff for 20 minutes and kill. -

[1990-02-06-NWA-Clash of the Champions X] Steve Williams entrance
Johnny Sorrow replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
I saw this for the first time about 6 years ago when I got that every Clash set that was making the rounds on the cheap. I was all, "What the fuck is this, what were they thinking?" but it's fun stoner food. It's weird, WCW's dopey shit that didn't work or get over from the time? I pretty much love it. But I hated WWF's dopey shit then that was successful.- 15 replies

Well now I'm going to.

Me too. I remember picking up a PWI Awards issue out of habit just to have something to read where Austin won 1990 Rookie of the year and it read like some great shit. I've waited 22 years to see it all. Oh, and I had a flannel shirt that was red with black stars just like Pringle's jacket.

So, is "minimalist fetishism" our next goofy term for this place? Cause I plan on using it in casual conversation from now on. Oh, and I've only seen a little of Travis and that was just over the past year and he's fucking great. Was he related to the Fullers? Because he looks like he could be Robert Fuller's younger brother. He definitely has some of the same in ring mannerisms.

[1990-02-03-WWF-Superstars] Jake Roberts vs Ted DiBiase
Johnny Sorrow replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
This was actually something I saw when it happened back in the days when I wasn't watching much wrestling, and WCW when I did. I was flipping around the TV on a Saturday morning and caught this. I remember loving the turn, even though I still hated Brother Love, The Big Bossman gimmick, Slick, Virgil, and the Million Dollar Man gimmick. I've changed my mind on most of that besides Brother Love. Again, though...Bossman getting in DiBiase's face and telling him off is fucking great shit. -
This was a lot of fun. Someone should have told Dundee that vertical stripes are a no no, you can create height and slimness with horizontal stripes. And the greatest thing is Lawler, Travis, and Garvin hugging at ringside and Maec calls it a "Comfort session." Then immediately Garvin does a fisting motion. I love Marc Lowrence calling Memphis style matches, he just seems so perplexed by it at times, God bless him.

The Garvin face turn against Cornette had to have raised his value a bit, though. People went nuts for him when he turned to get revenge for his brother. -

I'm picturing a bunch of Japanese wrestlers dressed like this. And while looking for that pic, I found out that you can buy this shirt. Which I will be doing. -

As someone who was going to a lot of Philly shows between 85 and 87, it's also interesting to note what kind of numbers that JCP pulled when WWF was running the same night at the Spectrum. -

Why would Sheamus and Orton just forget about the three guys who have beaten them and attacked them over and over? The good guys are holding a grudge and they got to strike back a little. If Shield always comes out on top, it'd be NWO all over again. And Orton and Sheamus are top level guys, it's not like Zach Ryder and Santino got one over on them. No one is arguing The Shield always come out on top. They should probably lose at Mania. But I don't think The Shield should be used as a vehicle to get Orton back into the upper tier. Orton has been one of the guys they've fucked up during their "invasion". They attacked him in the ring and backstage and injured him. Storyline-wise, Orton has a score to settle. It's not like they just tossed him into the angle. edit: Reading the SD spoilers, the idea of Show helping take out Shield down the line seems likely. And I dig that.

How so? They came out all cocky about how unbeatable they are, and then the babyfaces stuck it to them. The Shield can't always come out on top everytime they appear, and it's fun to see the good guys get one over on them. Oh, and that Punk/ Cena match was fucking great.

Jimmy Golden worked as a full time wrestler AND was a full-time factory worker for 25 years. He really is fucking awesome. I loved the HHH/ Brock stuff, it was bad ass. Even if HHH's jeans looked like he either had an accident or sat on a wet seat. I totally dug Mark Henry squashing Khali. See, Dylan...it's gonna be ok, man. You gotta have faith. Hell No vs PTP was really fun. I dug the call back spot to Jake vs Martel via Bryan's "Yes!" and "No!" chants. I LOVED the Shield promo, and Sheamus and Orton "out heeling" them to keep things interesting fucking ruled.
