  1. You have such a problem here, b/c AJPW at the time was about perfect and some of the best wrestling ever. Essentially you are almost doomed to fail, due to how great the real life is. That being said, this is interesting stuff. Where will Kawada land? It's probably the best anyone could do, being put in the circumstances you are in.
  2. The shutting on Sabre Jr is so bizarre to me. Yes this tournament is not his best work, but he's doing pretty good for the opponents he has. I liked the Dar match. Anyway, he's been great in Evolve this year.
  3. Really enjoyed this again. The matches may be a little long, but the stories are great. I'll be tuning in monday
  4. I wish we had his tape
  5. Should we have some kind of trash talking thread or in-character thread? I know in my FMW section I had Shoici Arai insult AJPW, NJPW, and UWFi as wimpy wrestlers and that was fun to do.
  6. Hopefully with them turning on Sting. Cuz, you know, Sting. That would be awesome! Re-doing Halloween Havoc 95, but in War Games!
  7. Misawa is making a lot of defenses here! The most fighting champion in AJPW history?
  8. The little stuff on SD is why it's so much better. Here Dean gives AJ a participation trophy which might seem odd. However, a month ago when AJ was feuding with Cena he ranted about hating participation trophies. It's a nice little touch like that, which sets SD apart from Raw.
  9. Exactly. One of my favourite finishes ever is Hansen hitting the lariat on Inoki and knocking him out of the ring for a countout win. That finish helped the match and it was't "clean".
  10. Isn't the NXT head writer (Ryan Ward??) the head writer on SD though?
  11. Wait... are we going to get that Bret Hart vs Hulk Hogan match in Japan instead of America first?
  12. Shoichi Arai was interviewed for a local newspaper. A few notes of interest are: - Arai made fun of Shoot Style, King's Road style, Strong Style, and claimed the only truly great wrestling style is FMW's "Death Style". Misawa, Kawada, Hashimoto, Chono, Mutoh may all be great in their own way, but none of their flashy moves stand up against a good barbed-wire baseball bat to the head. The thing that makes "Death Style" so great is that it combines all wrestling styles into one plus adds weapons. "Death Style" is the only style that proves who the toughest wrestlers alive are. FMW is the "Master of Death Style" and this Grand Slam tournament will prove who the true master is. - Arai claimed that the Big Boss Man was not too happy to be in the same promotion as a serial killer in Super Leather. He stands for justice and there is no justice in serial killing. Super Leather did not like those remarks and said he will be in his friend Terry Funk's corner when they meet up in the Grand Slam on September 24th. - Arai is excited by the new talent. Not just the raid on the WING promotion that has closed it's doors, but also bringing in Sabu, Big Boss man and La Parka from North America. People in Japan know the first two, and when they see La Parka that will fall in love with him too. - A few matches added to the tours are The Headhunters challenging for the tag titles on September 14th and Miwa Sato getting a WWF Women's Title shot on September 16th. - The biggest show of the tour will be on September 26th from Korakuen Hall which will feature the finals of the Gran Slam tournament and will crown the new FMW World Brass Knuckles Champion. This show will be aired on tape delay on Television late Thursday night. From there one big FMW show will be aired monthly. - A lot the tour will be taped for a commercial tape dubbed "The Grand Slam" to be released later. FMW will start to film more of it's show for future releases. - In weird news, Arai is allowing a lot of his foreign talent to work a small indie promotion in America called "Revolution Pro Wrestling" run by Ian Rotten. The deal seems to be that as talent meet up to fly to Japan from Los Angeles, they will work the Revolution Pro show. In exchange some of that talent roster will be joining FMW on tours. The Headhunters being the first Revolution Pro talent to appear in FMW.
  13. Revolution Pro-Wrestling has released the card for the upcoming "The Beginning of Something Big" at the Los Angeles Convention Center on September 11, 1995! In the main event: Terry Funk, Super Leather, & Ian Rotten will battle James Mitchell's team of Jason the Terrible & The Headhunters in a Street Fight! This promises to usher in the revolution of hardcore wrestling! Two former WWF stars collide as: "Hakushi" Jinsei Shinzaki faces "Rad Radford" Louie Spicolli in which promises to be a classic! In a match with no rules: Maxx Payne fights Horace Boulder and this one promises to be violent. Revolution Pro will also a host a tag-team classic as: Rex King & Steve Doll face Pat Tanaka & Ricky Satana! Two youngsters in: JT Smith and Balls Mahoney will try to figure out who the young gun of the Revolution really is. In a battle of skill and violence: Fidel Sierra squares off against Flash Flanagan. On top of all of these classics: The Brooklyn Brawler claims he will make an open challenge! Finally, wrestling fans are wildly speculating on what The State Patrol's huge announcement will be. We will find out all of this, plus more at "The Start of Something Big"!!!!!!!!!! * There will be blood and violence, if you are squeamish you might want to stay at home! Also, think carefully before bringing your children to this event.
  14. Well well done, really fits in with ECW booking. I really hope the ECW Genesis show will be available on ECW home video in the future. Nice tag team feud to begin and Dustin/Tommy seems like a pretty good babyface team on paper.
  15. Finishes, to me, is one of the most important parts of a match. I liken it to a movie where even if the whole thing is great, if the ended stinks I late the movie lower.
  16. Watching this it feels like the first War Games, a **** 3/4 absolute war. I loved the early arm work, then the bloody beatdown afterwards. The crowd was awesome. Need to see this a bunch more to gather all my thoughts.
  17. New rankings for August. Didn't separate out Raw/SD/NXT though.. http://placetobenation.com/wwe-rankings-for-august-2016/ Boricua, there was some big changes from last month.
  18. Arn and Pullman will be with Sting is my prediction
  19. Pumped
  20. A fun beginning! Very NXTish feel, which I love.
  21. It depends. If a bunch of people want him, we'll make him in a draft with other returners/debuters... if only you want him, then free agent. My mistake for leaving him out of the draft.
  22. I got my copy on amazon. Ebay works too.
  23. Nicely done. You got the feel of a SNME very well. Can't wait to see the Macho Man go wild in the WWF agian!
  24. Wow! That's some disturbing and amazing stuff right there.
  25. Holy shit man! This blog is a masterpiece!
