rovert
The commentary is fun, and interesting at times. Dave being caught off guard and marking the fuck out at Tully turning on Gino is my fondest memory of the set.

Guest Rob Naylor
Has anyone watched those Meltzer and Jim Cornette commentary sets? The matches themselves look intriguing, but tell me what you know. It's amazing. Alot of the matches I would never watch more than once, but I've watched them all like 20 times cause of Dave and Cornette. They are both soooo ridiculous with little known facts during each match. Thoroughly enjoyable. I talked to Cornette many times about how sad I am that WWE bought up all the footage pretty much and Dave and Cornette couldn't be brought back to do some more stuff like this. Johnny Sorrow
The Smokey Mountain Night Of Legends dvd has a choice between the actual commentary or Dave and Cornette. It's a ton of fun.
Mad Dog
Has anyone watched those Meltzer and Jim Cornette commentary sets? The matches themselves look intriguing, but tell me what you know. I probably dust it off once a year just to listen to Meltzer and Cornette. I bought the couple of SMW DVDs with them on there as well. There are some good matches mixed in but you're really just there to listen to them. Highly recommend it. rovert
Indirectly related to Wrestling but I thought this was interesting: http://kotaku.com/5830092/spoiler-alert-people-like-spoilers According to a new study by the psychology department at UC San Diego, people actually enjoy spoiled stories more than stories that they hear fresh. Strummer
The NWO segment segment in 2002 where Shawn superkicks Booker while in mid sentence is all kinds of awesome. I know it was shit on at the time but it just looks so freaking cool. Nash, Big Show and X-Pac's reactions seal it
MikeCampbell
I don't think it was so much Booker T getting turfed that got shit on, but the fact that he never really got any revenge for it. Book and Goldust were losing to the nWo on the house show circuit, and Booker wound up laying down in the tag match the net week, when Nash blew out his knee. Blehschmidt
Re-watching some of Jamie Noble's indy run from 2005, and he had all kinds of fantastic matches. That guy deserved a lot more than he ended up with.

I agree, the matches kinda pass you by, but the commentary is so informative that you love it. The matches become almost like footage in a documentary or something like that. That said, Gino Hernandez vs. Tully Blanchard looked like a good match. The stuff about Paul Boesch and how that all worked is fascinating. Jim Cornette is a proper old-school wrestling anorak isn't he!

Mad Dog
Vol. 1 has, I believe Savage piledriving Morton or Gibson through a table in Memphis. That was a highly enjoyable match.

artDDP
In his book Bob Mould talks about how he was convinced to go on the gas after a couple of weeks on the road. For those who don't know, Mould was a writer, with no on screen role. I can't remember, did Mould work for WWE or WCW? And the gas stuff doesn't surprise me. I remember Marc Lloyd and even the Coach growing pretty rapidly before our eyes.

This guy deserved to be utilized better then how he ended up getting used. I'm glad he got the producer/agent gig.
GSR
I don't think I have seen this noted anywhere else and it certainly isn't on TheHistoryofWWE website. I recently got some of the 1993 WWF Superstars of Wrestling set in a trade, and when checking the discs there was a very familiar face who faced Marty Jannetty on the October 2nd show. I wont spoil it for anyone, but he wrestled as 'Steve Moore' and went on to have a fair bit of success in SMW, ECW and WWF/E.

Fair enough, although I always enjoy watching old TV seasons and spotting guys who went on to have some success in the early stages of their career (like spotting Billy Gunn in the NWA 1989 World Championship Wrestling set). Anyway, Boondocks is correct and 'Steve Moore' who is doing the job to Marty Jannetty on the October 2nd 1993 show is none other than Al Snow.
