Loss
Okay match. Pretty stiff, and I wonder if this is what made Flair remove his name from the format when he was supposed to have a match with Finlay.
Robert S
Did the announcers really talk about the Cruiserweight title tournament still ongoing? I knew this tournament was a joke and mostly used to do a b show feud between Dean Malenko and Brad Armstrong but this is still ridiculous. Victator
Okay match. Pretty stiff, and I wonder if this is what made Flair remove his name from the format when he was supposed to have a match with Finlay. Watching the Flair/Garvin series I'm not sure what Finlay could do to Flair.
Ditch
Hell, Flair wanted a match with Tenryu because it would be stiff/snug, and went on to have a series with him. So after Ron Garvin and Tenryu, plus Hashimoto, what would be scary about Finlay?
KB8
Flair wrestled Hashimoto? Thought this was pretty fun. Finlay is such a mean little fucker and Savage comes out of this looking like he had to really fight, which was all I really wanted out of a 6 minute match between them. jdw
Flair challenged Hash for the IWGP. Horrible match... poor Hash. John
Matt D
Savage has a ton of 6 minute tv matches against guys that on paper sound great in this period (see: Bunkhouse Buck). And they're all formula and frustrating and terrible. Beat down, bodyslam, elbow. This is amazingly good compared to those. Lots of energy. A lot more back and forth and comebacks by Savage. Counters and some good believable brawling. I wouldn't call it a great match, but RELATIVE to most of Savage's 95/first half of 96 TV output it's great. El-P
Yep, much better than I remembered. Savage showed much more fire here than he did against most of the midcarders he faced since he debuted in WCW. And ironically, him giving "less" to Finlay made for a better match that looked more like a struggle.
PeteF3
Pretty weak finish with no build at all to the big elbow, but this was definitely a step up from the usual Savage formula match around this time. This feels like a real struggle, and Savage dishes it out as much as he takes it.
soup23
Maybe a step up from some of the Savage we have seen, I still thought this could have been a lot more. Savage increasingly around this time was forceful in getting his stuff in when he was with an underneath guy. That led to the abrupt elbow here and all of Finlay's groundwork going to waste. **
tim
Decent match. Reading the WON from this era, apparently Savage was meant to have a falls count anywhere match with Benoit at Uncensored. Wonder how that would have turned out. dawho5
Savage working this match as banged up as he was is pretty good to begin with. Would have loved to see a somewhat healthy Savage feuding with Finlay.
