cowboy hats
Lame idea that came to me last night: Sandow falls in love with the idea of being a lumberjack and comes out to most matches to act as one.
Matt D
I got asked today by someone at work who's a lapsed fan why John Cena took a "HHH squashes someone" beating against Lesnar. He was energized by the possibility of Rock coming back to face him at Mania though. On the other hand, I had to try to explain Dean Ambrose. Sean Liska
Â Both were very enjoyable and entertaining. Let's see how long this trend keeps up. Â http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/18073-current-wwe/page-39 Â Last year at this time. Â WWE has followed a predictable yearly cycle for like 17 years now but people always get surprised by it. TV will be very hot from late December through April, and June through August. It will cool off during football season. You can even see it in everyone's favorite year - 2000. The fall of 99 was boring with HHH not being over and Rock treading water feuding with Davey Boy Smith and Al Snow. Things picked up in late December with the Foley-HHH feud, a great Mania season, then a dull post-Mania season revolving around a Rock-Vince feud that felt like a retread, then a red-hot summer with the HHH-Angle-Stephanie thing and Foley as commish and a bunch of other good stuff. By the fall, we had the HHH-Angle thing pissed away, Austin returning to feud with Rikishi, and HHH's heel turn. This year we had the same great Mania and summer seasons and now it'll cool off. The October PPV will probably have a main event without much juice in it and undercard matches like Bo-Kofi and we'll be wondering what happened. But you'll also get good stuff sprinkled in like the Rhodes-Authority feud last year or that stretch where Bryan was having long main events against Shield members every week. Whatever they do with Ambrose will be this year's version of that.
DMJ
On the subject of Ryback...  Yes, the major factor to the crowd response was that he was the hometown guy, but I also think it was caused by a loud part of the audience who wanted to "defy" the WWE's plan - "hijack" might be too strong a word, but it was close to that.  Cheering Ryback said (a) we won't conform to the rules of heels and faces (pretty common these days), ( we know you want us to cheer for Reigns so we'll do the opposite, and © we would chant for Randy Orton or Curtis Axel, but they're equally unimpressive these days, compared to Ryback, who still looks like a million bucks and is being "held down" (not really, in my opinion, but I can see why some people in the audience would think so). It didn't hurt that the "Feed Me More" chant was pretty over about 15 months ago and wrestling fans have long memories.  That being said, I do hope they give him another chance as a babyface monster one day in the future. Matt D
And right back to the Cena well? It looks like this whole story, stunt, etc was to heat up Night of Champions for the initial resubscriptions.

kjh
Who else do they have? Daniel Bryan is on the disabled list. Dean Ambrose is off shooting a movie. Batista isn't back yet. Bray hasn't turned face yet. The only possible alternative opponent is Roman Reigns which they're wisely saving till WrestleMania. Â Hoping Cena haters tune in for another beating and Cena fans tune in to see him overcome the odds was the only card WWE could play.
Matt D
If you put a gun to my head, I'd say they'd work it like the second of the two Taker vs Hogan matches from 91 (tuesday in texas) where Hogan was desperate to avoid the choke. In this case, it'd be him avoiding the German Suplexes. In that match you had the Flair screw job at the end. Here, you'd have Cena win after a battle and Rollins cash in. You give Ambrose the Foley-in-Winter 98 title win against Rollins with Cena's help, have Rollins win it back, and then go with Reigns or Bryan going into Mania with some Brock vs Cena blow off match or Brock vs Rock or something. Â That's my guess looking at it right now.
KrisZ
Well he does get a rematch clause and yes this is the 3rd match of their series which they love having those rubber matches.
Jmare007
It was pretty obvious Cena was getting the title shot at NOC. Â I hope WWE doesn't panic and keep the belt on Brock. There's no way they book Cena to get squashed 2 PPVs in a row so the only thing I'm asking for is that after a hard fought battle, Brock dominates the last 3 minutes before winning. Grimmas
Wasn't the plan all along for a rematch with like Taker or somebody in his corner? Why is anyone surprised?

goc
I really don't understand why anyone would be upset about a Cena/Lesnar rematch. There is absolutely no one else they can put against Brock right now that would be credible. Â And there is no way they build Brock up like this just to have him lose at Night of Champions. Unless they were going to work some big angle of The Authority realizing they can't control Brock & deciding to screw him out of the title somehow via helping Cena or a Rollins cash in. Which I really doubt. But it's even less likely to me that they did all this just to have Cena overcome the odds again and beat Brock, the end. Â I can 100% think this is all to heat up NOC and that they figure they can just trot Brock out again for a big match at Mania and he'll be evergreen. Â Why? Because I've watched them do short sighted shit like that for years and years and years. Frankly I think it could go either way but if you put a gun to my head, Cena wins, Rollins cashes in. Â Yes, they've been more self aware this year, but only by necessity and right now necessity says that they have to heat up NOC at all costs. If the network numbers drop considerably, that's a worst possible scenario. So yeah, I could see them having the Rocky Balboa match at NOC instead of Mania or wherever. Loss
It says a lot that this has been the direction for months and they haven't thought to rebuild someone like Ryback during that time. A sustained megapush post-Wrestlemania could have easily made him hot again.
