Bray was really over with last year's Mania crowd. I suspect they are going to get behind the guys they want WWE to push, and I expect Bray to be one of those guys. I'm going on record saying Bray will be more over in that match, and Sting/HHH will be a no heat disaster if it goes past 15.

Does that crowd still like Bray, or have they caught on to how terrible he is by now?

So on the latest WO show, Dave mentioned he asked what the deal was with the Sting promo being done in a voice that didn't sound like Sting. Turns out it was Sting and they wanted him to sound like the Black Scorpion. So either someone's fucking with Dave or neither the writers or alleged NWA mark Triple H don't remember Sting was feuding with the Black Scorpion.

Once again, the only two things worthwhile were a terrific Heyman promo (man, he really makes me want to watch that Brock Lesnar match, only not against Roman Reigns, whoever he is) and the Rusev vs Cena angle, which I enjoy a lot despite it being basically an old US vs evil foreigner stuff from the 80's. Lana was so good again, and Cena still looks like the Man.

So, now we get a multi-man tag-team match, because a simple heated feud between two teams is to complicated I guess (BTW, whatever happened to the Ascension ? Already done hopefully). Nice. Along with the useless battle royal and the IC clusterfuck (Daniel Bryan and Dean Ambrose, thank you very much for your efforts of the past two years, you're now officially in a match with R-Truth and Stardust), it's a clear sign they have just given up on this card. Much like the fact Roman Reigns really looks like an afterthought at this point, really.

What the fuck was that Sting voiceover ? How thrilling.

So yeah, some rambling promos and supernatural stuff. I could have written that Bray vs Taker shit in my sleep, and thankfully the match will probably bring me back to that state too.

I think this week is another proof of how great Stephy is on the mic, no ? I want that Kane vs Big Show match at Mania. I just want it to hear the reaction.

Mania's selling point is Cena vs Rusev, and the crowd, basically.

So, you all can't wait until Zami Zayn gets called "up", can you ?

I interpreted the Sting deal as Steve Borden not being contractually obligated to do the spot which is moronic since it's just a voice over. If it's not that, then I figured it's some ridiculous WWE quirk like Kevin Dunn not thinking his voice is TV friendly enough.

But seriously, that was awful. The kind of stuff TNA would get ripped apart for doing.

I took it as Vince and Dunn fucking with everyone because they can. They're determined to suck the heat out of all their talent - even one that it took close to 13 years to sign for big money matches.

Serious question - did Vince blowing both his quads out a while back make him go crazy? I was thinking back to when this company had shit product and even during the '91-'93 period suck run things were never to the point where guys were intentionally buried just because.

I'm not sure there is any equivalent of the Daniel Bryan case in history, of a guy who gets over to the point the audience clearly wants him as the guy on top, there's nothing else to do but ride the wave, and the company just refuses to do it and actually makes effort to get him less over than he was down to the point of having him buried in the midcard like it's the case for his Mania match. It's just insane. And it's not like they have any red hot babyfaces or red hot heels to push, especially when the special attraction Brock is telling them to fuck off.

And why are Big Show and Kane on my TV EVERY WEEK ?

Did anyone else get a chance to listen to the pitch-shifted version of the Sting promo that opens the Live Audio Wrestling podcast (Review-A-Raw) today? If not, check it out, it starts the show and then they talk about it up to minute 8.

They adjusted the audio and it sounds like it was Dolph Ziggler who cut the promo. I'm not 100% sure if that is actually who did the promo or if they adjusted it to make it sound that way, but iwas wondering if an audio expert would weigh in.

That was (gulp, sigh) ten years ago. There's been plenty of less deranged booking since then.

I'll play devil's advocate: Sting's voice doesn't have a ton of gravitas and his promos only worked as surfer/joker Sting because of the inherent goofiness there. That said, they should've just had a creepy lady voice cut the promo like that one Clash of the Champions.

Just listened to that as well. Seems like a weird choice, but then again this whole idea is strange.

They had a little kid cut promos for him in WCW. I didn't think it was that strange.

I'm not exactly clamoring for his return (I enjoy his matches but the angles he ends up in usually are terrible), but it's odd they keep running those Sheamus hype videos without any mention of when it's going to happen.

They never once made it out like you were supposed to believe that was Sting. WWE said that was Sting himself breaking his silence.

Right. Someone who is clearly not Sting, not cutting the promo in the first person would have been best. It was a kid, I was wrong. It was definitely the closest WCW got to tripping over the proprietary hurdle of the Crow franchise, as it was pretty much the voiceover from the movie.

So John Cena vs. Rusev is the only WrestleMania match that I care about at all. I'm not down on Roman Reigns like a lot of people but I just don't expect much out of him vs. Brock. I guess it's really not THAT different from last year where the only things that felt important were the Bryan matches.

This is where I'm at, though possibly more optimistic about the Brock/Reigns match.
