It's most likely JBL being fed lines by Vince. I've learned to tune it out but it still annoys me that this kind of counterproductive crap makes it on screen just to entertain one guy backstage.

And yeah Christian ain't young Elvis, but I wouldn't consider him a freak. He's just a regular dude.

What I liked about it was Christian saying, basically "yeah I ain't pretty but I'm a two time World Champ," while sporting a shiner. He came off more bad ass than he ever has before.

Vince thinks Christian is hideous looking and wanted to put a blue dot over his face back in 2005. People online thought he was over enough to have a program with Cena and this was what Vince was coming up with for him. IIRC they did do the match on PPV but added Jericho because they didn't have faith in Christian as a draw

To be clear, Vince doesn't think Christian is ugly. He just...doesn't like his face.

Yeah he just thinks he looks mundane/like your next door neighbour.

Holy cow, that Real Americans tag! How the hell was that match so awesome? Also, WWE crowds are fascinating right now. The juxtaposition of the heat for that match followed by the piss poor reaction to Cena's promo on the big screen told a story. It feels like people are ready not just for Daniel Bryan, but for a fresh crop of headliners.

I'm never sure when you tuned out and when you didn't. Have you seen Christian's 09 ECW babyface ace run?

I haven't.

I'm sure Eric or Phil or Dylan or someone else could speak on it, but it was a pretty impressive run. Christian's a guy who gets overlooked in a big way and I do hope we get him either in another tag vs Cesaro or in a singles match before the PPV.

I'm also kind of wondering if they're not looking at Cesaro as a guy to put into the spot vs Sheamus at Mania now.

Yeah, I thought the segment with Sheamus and Cesaro in that tag was the best, or at least my favourite, thing from WWE in the first couple of months of the year. I loved Sheamus egging Cesaro on and then just punching him in the face and his count-to-ten spot is the best one in the company. I even enjoyed Swagger since the really quick flurry of double team moves the RA bust out are always hit so cleanly and sharply. It's going to be a sad day when WWE implode the current tag set and the Usos have nobody to face.

I really don't know where they are going with The Real Americans. It seems like Zeb and Swagger are going to split, but I have no idea how Cesaro factors into that. I wouldn't mind seeing them turn together and then face a new team that Zeb makes up.

Since nothing the announcers in this company say is by accident, do you think there is a reason they are specifically saying that Batista is "headlining Wrestlemania" instead of "challenging for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania"? No one expects him to be in the last match.

If they were smart they'd just run with Bryan/Batista and it would be perfectly suitable as the last match.

But real answer is that the former is easier to say than the latter and they also seem to downplay titles every chance they get. Plus they probably still aren't certain what the card looks like.

Just guessing, but maybe Batista requested something in his contract that said he had to headline Wrestlemania, similar to Kiss demanding that the Kiss Demon had to wrestle in a main event match?

Because he won the Rumble and that's always what they say about the Rumble winner.

I can't recall the phrase "headlining Wrestlemania" being used in the past, unless it's started in recent years when I haven't paid attention. It's usually about getting a title shot. Either way, I won't go on about this, but I noticed they said that exact phrase and only that exact phrase over and over.

They don't have title shots anymore Loss, they are "championship opportunities."
