Loss Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 On this week’s Wrestling With the Past, Will and Charles discuss the mighty cage match! First, we’ll talk about famous cage matches from the territory days including the Mid South Stipulations match, the Final Conflict, Lawler vs. Idol and more. We discuss the NWA/WCW cage matches including the greatest War Games matches and the beauty of Magnum TA vs. Tully Blanchard. We wrap up the show discussing the WWF, the blue cage, escape rules, and the Hell In A Cell. Bloody fun for everyone! http://placetobenation.com/wrestling-with-...4-cage-matches/ Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 I watched Sheepherders and Jack Victory vs Fantastics and Taylor in the barbed wire cage when it aired, while making out with a chick doing some stinkfinger. Its the greatest. Quote
Matt D Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Hey, Johnny, guess what no one wanted to know? That. Anyway, this will be fun. I'll be curious to see what you guys think is the best WWF blue cage era match. I actually sort of like most of the big Hogan cage matches for some reason. I think he was able to use it to play to his strengths, but I haven't seen most in forever. Quote
soup23 Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 This was my favorite podcast so far. I never knew the Starrcade 83 match was the first NWA title match in a cage. I thought you guys did an excellent job running down and analyzing all of the major cage matches. Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Hey, Johnny, guess what no one wanted to know? That. It was a bloody affair all around. Quote
WingedEagle Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Everyone go home. We have a winner. I remain so far beyond in my podcast listening. Maybe if traffic sucks this week I'll plow through more. Quote
KrisZ Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 This was my favorite podcast so far. I never knew the Starrcade 83 match was the first NWA title match in a cage. I thought you guys did an excellent job running down and analyzing all of the major cage matches. It wasn't the first one in a cage....Flair/Kerry immediately comes to mind and there are others. soup23 Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 was it first one with Jim Crockett promotions? Quote
JerryvonKramer Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Looking at Graham's site, it says first time won in a cage. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Hey, Johnny, guess what no one wanted to know? That. It was a bloody affair all around. Dude! Quote
Loss Posted September 22, 2013 Author Report Posted September 22, 2013 I guess my mind slipped completely on Flair vs Kerry, but Gordon Solie specifically said in the commentary that this was the first time the title had been defended in a cage, which is where I got that information. Quote
JerryvonKramer Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 The dean of wrestling broadcasting, the Walter Cronkite of wrestling ... Quote
KrisZ Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Gordon was also shitfaced drunk calling that match Quote
JerryvonKramer Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Only 40 mins in so far, but this is already my favourite of these shows to date. Loss's Hayes / Jake comparison is very apposite and the first time I've heard anyone draw that comparison. I like to imagine that Will and Charles would just be having this chat on the phone and we are listening in. Also, I'm kinda with you both on Gordy and think I've said it somewhere already. I had it in my mind that Will was really really high on Gordy, so this was surprising. EDIT: Actually forgot I was just listening and talked out loud during the Garvin / Flair stuff. Quote
Smack2k Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 I watched Sheepherders and Jack Victory vs Fantastics and Taylor in the barbed wire cage when it aired, while making out with a chick doing some stinkfinger. Its the greatest. My respect of you went up about 1000 times in one post....THAT is how you remember things.... BEST POST EVER... Also, Parv, I think you thought that of Will due to him and Rob Naylor doing the show on Gordy.....and I wouldnt say Will was down on him, just more into Hayes...and I agree....look, I am a Gordy fan, but his promos were BAD.....and almost incoherant... Grimmas Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Do you know when the rss feed will be coming for this podcast? Quote
goodhelmet Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 I have had lots of complaints/concerns about not being able to load this on itunes. I also don't know what an rss feed is. Quote
JerryvonKramer Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 At the moment, the best we can do is to direct you to this app: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/soundcloud/id336353151?mt=8 and follow the account. RSS feeds aren't possible until we're accepted into their podcasting scheme, but all they've done is no-sell so far. Can't get a reply. Quote
soup23 Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Soundcloud was sent another extremely pushy email today. Quote
Grimmas Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Thanks guys, for your effort. Quote
Smack2k Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Yes, working through the show so far...but great job and great effort.. Instead of Itunes...just download the .mp3 and put it into Itunes and load it...DONE...no need for any more issues!! Quote
goodhelmet Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Smack, I agree. That is how I listen to most podcasts. Too bad we live in a world where people want it to be even more convenient than that and when we are competing with other podcasts just for people's time, that can make the difference in the shows that people listen to. Quote
WingedEagle Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 I actually strongly prefer loading the mp3 into a playlist, especially for longer podcasts, because if you need to charge / sync your iphone before you finish it, ituns will mark the podcast as listened to and then it won't show up the next time you go to it. Much easier to have the mp3. Quote
SteveJRogers Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Yes, working through the show so far...but great job and great effort.. Instead of Itunes...just download the .mp3 and put it into Itunes and load it...DONE...no need for any more issues!! That actually has my iTunes crashing because of cloud/match issues. Quote
