bradhindsight
Emma mainly And maybe "bury" is dramatic. I mean, he always mentions it took four guys to eliminate Rusev from the Royal Rumble. So maybe it's just very paint-by-numbers heel commentator stuff. Just doesn't seem constructive.
goc
Emma is a dorky, nerdy character. At what point has he NOT shit all over a character like that?
Johnny Sorrow
He's the GM of NXT and he thinks Emma is ridiculous. He's a bad guy.
Stiva
Anyone recently gone back and re-watch some of the JBL-Cole stuff from SD In 2006-2007? At the time, I remember that being one of the better periods of commentating for either RAW or SD. JBL was going all out in putting over Finlay, Regal, Jamie Noble, Kid Kash, Kendrick & London, etc. That was one of my favorite runs of TV and JBL and Cole were both awesome during it. Especially because JBL was a full on heel announcer. He'd also constantly throw out references like comparing L and K to the Simpson Brothers from World Class. It also helped that Cole was full-on babyface and still had the reputation of a kind-of shitty announcer (though he clearly wasn't) so he fed JBL plenty of things to pick up so they could get angles over and their bickering never overshadowed the match. Now, he's "the voice of the WWE" and spends most of his time putting over crappy nicknames in that awful micro-managed way and it seems that JBL doesn't know how to play a heel commentator in those trappings. Cole, being the senior announcer, fights back and always has an insult ready to throw back which completely derails things further whereas back in the day, he'd retreat a bit and move back to calling the action. Maybe it's Vince in their ear, maybe they've just let those dumb crowd chants go to their head, I can't imagine how Vince would be happy with the current Raw commentary considering he's binned guys for being much less obnoxious. (BP)
Watched some mid 90's WWF yesterday. It's funny that Vince is apparently so controlling about what goes on in the booth, because when he was the lead announcer he would let things degenerate into chaos all the time. His RAW team with Heenan and Bartlett where they try to bury each other is cringe inducing, and there was a point at Survivor Series 96' when he let Ross and Sunny snipe at each other to the point where it's uncomfortable. I don't know if it's because he couldn't scream at them on mic, or because he was amused by it. On Ross's screaming, I noticed that he'd get exceptionally loud during stretches in the match with long rest holds, I guess to compensate for a lack of crowd reaction. Timbo Slice
I'm going through the NWA in 1989 right now and man alive is Lex Luger great. The four PPV matches I saw him have were all fantastic, and although I know Starrcade becomes a clusterfuck of sorts, he really did have one hell of a hot streak that year. Matt D
I don't know about you guys but Main Event is freezing up pretty consistently for me tonight. I can't say that bodes well.
Blazer
Guys- For anyone doing the free trial, is there an obvious way to cancel? I'm not seeing a "cancel trial" option anywhere under "My Account". I may just be missing it, but I hope its not necessary to go through the chore of calling them to cancel. Blazer
ah disregard...I found it under billing. They do a good job of showing you the date too. Kudos to them.
Loss
The live stream has worked perfectly for me.
Matt D
A lot of the time I freeze if people are watching on demand while I try to watch the network but this wasn't that. I was just checking it out on the laptop and it'd freeze after less than a minute of watching the livestream. i still need to follow up with them about my tablet since the fact it crashes the tablet completely within 5 minutes no matter what I'm watching is kind of ridiculous. Blazer
Watching SuperBrawl I....what a train wreck between El Gigante and Sid. It was a stretcher match, but Gigante won with a pin after applying the claw, which I recall now is because Sid didn't want to do the stretcher job since he had just signed with Vince. WCW sends of OMG and Kevin Sullivan right after the match to start a feud with Gigante...just crazy.
Blazer
Who is doing the "Wrestlemania Rewind" voiceover at the beginning? Can't figure out if that's Bob Eucker or Gary Thorne....
Timbo Slice
It's Gary Thorne. Pretty good get by WWE.

FedEx227
Was once the top baseball announcer for ESPN, college football and NHL. He's a big name in the sporting world.
bradhindsight
Was once the top baseball announcer for ESPN, college football and NHL. He's a big name in the sporting world. Pretty sure he does all the Orioles games. Definitely still does pucks right?
FedEx227
You are correct he is the lead PBP for Orioles, no longer with ESPN. I don't think he does NHL on TV anymore but if you've played the NHL video games, you've heard him!
shakla
Gary Thorne also did some bowling coverage not too long ago, including the 2012 US Open where big wrestling fan Pete Weber (who does a version of the crotch chop and the RVD thumb point during matches) won and did the infamous "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? I AM!" celebration.

Blazer
It's Gary Thorne. Pretty good get by WWE. Absolutely. HUGE name for a voiceover. I'm blown away by that. Dude is legit.
Steenalized
Would love to see Liev Schreiber do something for WWE. I have no clue how voice over pricing works, but I have to imagine he charges the big bucks thanks to HBO. Gary Thorne is an awesome get as is. Kronos
Just watched "This is NXT" -- a terrific overview of the program's last year, including the Claudio-Generico 2/3 Falls match. It gives an intro to a few of the guys who went on to be rising stars in WWE and a few of the newcomers now, highlights of some title changes, and clips of the WWE stars visiting the program. All hosted by that pretty Ms. Young. As someone who enjoyed FCW but has seen no NXT (or any WWE 2013 at all), I found it really helpful. And it looks like basically a slightly higher-budget FCW. I look forward to watching it regularly.
(BP)
Nice to see the original version of the mania 3 main event is on the network. The edit from the 50 Years of WWE release is awful.
