Dav'oh Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 No, brother @C.S.. I think absolutely everyone involved is a fuckstick. There's two things I won't do : I won't pretend to care today about someone I didn't care about last week and won't care about next week. And I won't say ridiculous, hyperbolic things along the lines of This is the Worst Thing I've Ever Seen in Wrestling. Other ridiculous things, yes. Not that one. Actually, three things: I absolutely will not believe for a second that Stu thought Raja was a worker. RIP or Get Well Soon, either way I couldn't give a shit. I'm just not fazed by real violence when it's cheapshotting male shitcunt vs cheapshotting male shitcunt. Neither Stu nor Raja deserves our tears. Best off saving them for people that matter.
El-P Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 In other sad news, Raven is suffering from early-onset Parkinson's diseases. Alcohol and chair shots to the head, ya know... He seems to be in a good place mentally though.
TheBean Posted October 29 Report Posted October 29 Was watching this 80's fantasy ninja movie with Hiroyuki Sanada & Sonny Chiba called Ninja Wars. I noticed one of the evil magicians was a big dude and had scars on his forehead from years of blading. Whoa! So I looked it up and it was Strong Kobayashi! Does anybody else get excited to see wrestlers in movies & TV shows especially when in smaller non wrestling roles? I remember finding out that Andre the Giant was inside the monster suit in Conan the Destroyer and being psyched. Anyone have any other similar TV or movie appearances that are favorites?
Flyin' Brian Posted Saturday at 01:57 AM Report Posted Saturday at 01:57 AM Vince Russo just showed up on the latest episode of Juggalo Championship Wrestling Lunacy
sek69 Posted Saturday at 05:23 AM Report Posted Saturday at 05:23 AM He was hired as a writer there, I shit you not. He also said Violent J is the best wrestling mind he's met since VKM. Again, no shittery afoot. To be fair, Violent J has been in DA BIZ for a while and is obviously doing something right since his promotion has been around forever, but come the fuck on.
Ricky Jackson Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM Can't help but notice that the WWE folder is dead and Survivor Series didn't even stir it from its slumber...

There’s no point trying to have a discussion about the current WWE product at PWO anymore. I still watch the shows and have plenty of opinions, but it’s pointless to share them, or try and have a normal conversation about WWE around here. It’s always just a matter of time before someone (usually people that don’t even watch the current WWE product) come swooping in and start blabbering about the same old boring shit. Saudi Arabia, Donald Trump, MAGA, the Vince lawsuit, blah blah blah. We’ve all heard it a million times already, but apparently you can’t talk about WWE without having to hear the same damn talking points again and again. I am not American, and I wouldn’t be a Trump supporter even if I was. I respect everybody’s right to have an opinion about politics, but this place was literally created out of the ashes of another forum for the express purpose of talking about just Pro Wrestling and leaving all the other crap out of it. My personal last straw was when I had to listen to crap about “Israeli Genocide” and AIPAC in the fucking WWE folder at “Pro Wrestling Only.” It was starting to look like we were about two steps away from certain people complaining about the Jews using their secret weather control machines to affect WWE booking. So I tapped out for good. I gave up. I’m done. I have been posting at PWO since before it was even PWO. I have been a member here since April 2005. That’s literally 20 years. But fuck it. I know for a fact from talking to other former members that there are a significant number of people who quit posting here for the same reason. The fun got sucked right out of this place, and there’s nobody in charge to keep things on point. Sad to see PWO die like this after such a long run, but it is what it is.

Ricky Jackson Posted yesterday at 05:18 AM Report Posted yesterday at 05:18 AM Better to concentrate on the old stuff anyway. 2026 is right around the corner and we need to get serious about GWE. Parv you ready to fire up BIGLAV brother?
sek69 Posted yesterday at 06:42 AM Report Posted yesterday at 06:42 AM Funny thing about Survivor Series, is that after two Blood and Guts matches WWE War Games looked even lamer than usual. I don't know why they insist on having these so called brutal matches when it ends up looking like something you'd see on Raw or Smackdown with a cage wrapped around it.

Somewhat surprising that this place lasted after the last GWE poll. I don't think Smarkschoice lasted long after they ran their poll. That being said, there is a real feeling with this place that someone cares enough to pay to keep the lights on but don't care enough to fix the burnt out or broken light bulbs. Personally, within the last year I find that I enjoy watching wrestling more if I ignore online discourse. Even if you get past the tribalism, the number of people who have interesting takes keeps shrinking. The only good reason to keep checking in anywhere is the odd chance that someone has found some new footage.
TheBean Posted yesterday at 07:37 AM Report Posted yesterday at 07:37 AM I remember there used to be a section called Military Industrial Suplex where political wrestling talk could go on but the same type of stuff started happening and it got removed. It was ultimately no longer in the spirit of PWO was the rationale, iirc. I think there's a lot of members who don't post because they are afraid they are going to get shouted at or get hassled tbh. Longtime & new folks. Hope you stick around. Seeing as its the wild west here, I say you make a new topic anytime you feel like talking WWE or just here in the "Comments that don't... " thread. Your posts were some of the only ways I would stay in the loop with the current WWE.
strobogo Posted yesterday at 10:20 AM Report Posted yesterday at 10:20 AM The more I think about it, the fighting spirit puro sell is probably actually the most realistic sell in wrassle. 1. They actually did take the bump and did bounce back up 2. Most traumatic physical injuries (like say, a bike wreck or sports injury), people try and sometimes do bounce back up like nothing happened and walk it off only for it to hit a few seconds later.

Sorry to see you feel like this. I know when I had my issues with shodate and was done with PWO as I felt like he was deliberately ruining the place and no-one seemed bothered, you were the one person who messaged me just to say "don't go, don't let him get to you." I hadn't been on the board for three or four years until someone messaged me elsewhere asking if I was still a mod (and I was amazed to find out I still was) as they were offended by certain posts in the Hulk Hogan thread. I've checked in sporadically since, but have no interest in being patronised and condescended to, so just keep my thoughts to myself. I watch wrestling a bit more than I did (primarily older stuff) but as another poster said, I find it much more enjoyable just watching and avoiding talking or posting about it. In regards to the board, I have no idea what is going on with it. I get the impression (understandably) that all of Charles' time is taken up with Wrestling Playlists and that is where his priorities and efforts lie - I have no idea how he can churn out as much as he does with that. The last GWE did a real number on this place that it never recovered from. The growth of social media probably played some role but it feels like this PWO is on life support at this point. Maybe next year's GWE - and bravo to all those taking part because I can think of nothing less appealing than ranking wrestlers at this point - will finally see the lights turned off here for good.
El McKell Posted yesterday at 11:57 AM Report Posted yesterday at 11:57 AM 56 minutes ago, GSR said: The growth of social media probably played some role but it feels like this PWO is on life support at this point. I think this is a total understatement. Message boards on the internet are all dead (unless reddit counts), the fact that this place stayed active for so long is a testament to it being something special in some way. I hope that even if this place dies in the sense that nobody posts anymore that the archive of match threads is preserved, I think it's an invaluable resource, even with cagematch.net offering something similar.

I was there for both, I don't really remember when SC went down exactly but since I joined PWO in 2008, well. I do remember that the last GWE ended up being a toxic debacle, whereas the SC one was mostly great fun (at least that's how I remember it). (I have nothing to say about the current GWE, for which I have zero interest, and it doesn't even have anything to do with that particular *incident* that happened and was handled very poorly (someone should have been banned from both PWO *and* the Discord, he hasn't been and was still talking shit after his fake-ass "apology". Duly noted). I still have a specific screen cap though, you never know when I might post it, probably at the worst timing imaginable too 😎. But really, ranking wrestlers in 2025 is something I have no interest in whatsoever) Forums have been dead for a while now. PWO peaked in early 2010. We're in 2025. The fact there are still a few people posting on this one is more of an oddity than anything else. It had its run.

I agree with El McKell a 100%. I found out about PWO when the yearbook projects were starting and while I wasn't a member, it was an amazing resource to have and to follow along with. The Match Discussion Archive/Yearbooks, Microscope, Puro History are all definitely great for anyone getting into older wrestling. It is like a curated cagematch. I think there's a lot of people that use the site as a resource. Then there's folks that use it as communication. I was looking at old posts I made as G. Badger (before the site locked me out of that profile), people actually wanted to talk about wrestling and didn't mind sharing opinions. But I know I stopped wanting to post anything on the main couple threads because folks wanted to either put words in people's mouths (make shit political when it wasn't) or essentially ignore people or openly being shitty. I know I had it happen a few times. Like high school clique type behavior. I think that killed the communication aspect of the board. Killed the vibe for new members wanting to post/keep the site alive. The funny thing is most of those members are gone now but the damage was done. Still, I enjoy reading peoples' posts and writing things and know who to avoid so I get a lot out of the site. I try to be friendly to new members to encourage them to keep posting. Sorry for writing a book.

I figured it would be the case when I realized they were doing their shitty "wargames" matches two weeks after Blood & Guts. I have no idea what happened though, I'm sooo behind on things (not even watched Full Gear yet) and don't wanna get spoiled so I'm so out of the loop Vince McMahon could have died and I would not have known.
cad Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago It's a message board. If people are posting, it's alive. If they aren't, it's dead. If don't want the board to die, post things. If you mostly post or posted in the current wrestling section, there are countless other places online to have discussions about AEW or WWE. To me this site's value was always in its niche topics. I don't even know where else there is for me to talk or read about some random match from 2002 Naucalpan or whatever.

Be my guest: https://forums.prowrestlingonly.com/topic/15983-the-beginners-guide-to-british-wrestling https://forums.prowrestlingonly.com/topic/16764-french-catch https://forums.prowrestlingonly.com/topic/51113-german-catch Except that for me, they're not niche topics. British wrestling is what I grew up with and still follow, French catch and the world of the German/Austrian tournaments were/are the two next door territories with a considerable back and forth overlap.
