Has has a skin pigment condition on top of that

That makes more sense. But it's still interesting from a WWE presentation perspective.

And Boondocks, I don't think they mentioned his paleness at all during his debut, just put over his "ring presence" and compared him to CM Punk.

There's no way that look was an accident. If someone showed up looking that bad, they'd send him home. It's his gimmick. He can't just be "The Irish Guy" because that's Finlay's role. So his Unique Selling Point will be that he's a near-albino.

In a talent evaluation of FCW a couple of months ago Dave Meltzer didnt view as a USP rather something that would be viewed as a strike against him. Which at the time I thought was rather odd.

I'm not too great with my WWF history, but financially, how were they by HBK's first world title win? I think 94/95 was the worst period, but were they out of hot water by the time HBK became the top guy or did he play a large part in it?

House show business turned around in late '95/early '96, off Bret Hart regaining the title, strong challengers in The Undertaker and the repackaged cooler tweener Diesel, and Shawn returning from the powerful in ring collapse angle and retirement tease. So Shawn's reign got off to a hot start, though it was far from the smash hit most expected at the time. House show business remained pretty good (though it tailed off towards the end of his run), but both PPV business and TV ratings were pretty poor, which is why they made such a big play to re-sign Bret Hart in the autumn of '96. Really the WWF wasn't out of hot water until they switched from two hour In Your House PPVs to three hour monthly PPVs and raised the price accordingly in the autumn of '97.

Would JYD have a better rep amongst newsletter reader types if more than a handful of promos from his prime were circulating?

The Junk Food Dog criticism seems to be of his willingness to get fat and lazy. If more prime promos were available AND he stayed as roided as Graham than maybe.

It must be one of those mis-mashed childhood memories, but I could have sworn that when Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez held the NWA tag titles the belts were still the late 70s-early 80s style. Watching the shows again on WWE 24/7 revealed that they already changed to the more familiar belt style during the Rock n Roll's run right before.

I had a similar mish-mash when watching Will's Horsemen set. I could have sworn that "Big Goldie" came into play in 1987-88...I just never really thought of it. I was really surprised when Flair debuts it in 1985.

OK, that's odd. They have the show up right now where Rude and Fernandez won the belts and it is in fact the old style. What's up with that? They introduced the new belts weeks ago and now suddenly they switched back to the old ones. It's nice to know I'm not hallucinating my childhood recollections, but did they lose the new belts somewhere or what?

Really? I thought it was February 1986? When the belt "changed" hands at Starrcade 1985 it was still the globe belt. He didn't reveal Big Goldie on television until February (maybe taped in January) around the time of Battle of the Belts 2.

Yeah I think you're right. It states online that the belt was created in 1985 but at Starrcade it's still the dome belt. I thought maybe he debuted it in December but I think you're right. Either way, it was much earlier than I remembered it being.

I don't watch TNA because I'm not into self torture, but I did look up a picture of him from the most recent Impact after hearing about how bad he looks right now, and yea he looks like shit. How much time would it take him to shave? I can't believe someone in TNA hasn't told him to at least do that much. It also looks like one of his arms has atrophied but I don't think that is anything new.

In watching Impact recently, am I the only one who noticed that Angle has gotten considerably smaller?

Last time I watched Angle was his match with Jarrett from Genesis. Thought he actually looked better physically than he had in years, actually looked like his triceps might have grown back. Really took me by surprise. Still, that's just one match that happened six months ago. Entirely possible my eyes could've been playing tricks on me. But in that one match, I thought he actually looked more or less human again.

Jim Ross agrees with you.

And from what Lawler has said, it sounds like even if he becomes Mayor of Memphis he'll still work for WWE. Something about not letting his schedule get in the way of his duties. Good platform, Jerry.
