Matt D Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 Who's more physically awkward? Greg Gagne, 1993 Erik Watts, or Brett "Hack" Sawyer?
goodhelmet Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Greg Gagne. Watts looked like an athlete. Sawyer reminds me of Tom Pritchard.
shoe Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Greg Gagne. Watts looked like an athlete. Sawyer reminds me of Tom Pritchard. What makes you think of Pritchard and Sawyer as being similar?
Matt D Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I actually like later career Erik Watts more than most people but
shoe Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 hairLol , I thought you meant they worked similar to you.
Cox Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I actually like later career Erik Watts more than most people but Man, there is no way that ended well for young Mr. Watts.
JerryvonKramer Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Watts looked like an athlete. Have you had your eyes checked recently?
JerryvonKramer Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I was just looking for a clip of Watts from around 1992 when I stumbled on a match of his tagging with Kensuke Sasaki vs. Arn and Steve Austin in which Arn submits to the STF. I was almost sick into my own mouth.
ohtani's jacket Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I actually like later career Erik Watts more than most people but I'd laugh only I don't think I could get that high on a dropkick. Rude vs. Watts was cool, but Watts vs. Arn was disappointing.
goodhelmet Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Watts looked like an athlete. Have you had your eyes checked recently? More athletes looked like Erik Watts than say this guy...
Log Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Watts was a division I college quarterback wasn't he? Hell, Howard Schnellenberger made him his starter at Louisville. He knows a thing or two about quarterbacks.
goodhelmet Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Yeah, the Olympics... I need to create an Olympics thread in the pro Wrestling Mostly folder. Is there anything more worked and as needle stained as the Olympics?
Matt D Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Someone should remind Parv that this is what an athlete looks like.
JerryvonKramer Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I'm sorry but I will not accept the notion that 1992 Erik Watts is representative of the "typical athlete". The "typical young male" maybe. Hell, I don't look a million miles away from that with my shirt off -- and I'm partial to a burger or three! I will continue to scoff at any claim made about Erik Watts's "althetic" body. "Athletic" my arse!
goodhelmet Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Yoda: You must unlearn what you have learned.
JerryvonKramer Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Saying it in a Jedi voice doesn't make it any more true. I would describe Erik Watts's body as "normal". It is ridiculous to suggest that it is "athletic". I will brook no arguments about this. Here are some nice athletes from 1948. No needles. No six-packs either. Here is Erik Watts once more. More athletes from the 40s Erik Watts Bill Watts Erik Watts
soup23 Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I would say Watts in his day looks at least as "athletic" as current day Matt Stafford and Eli Manning.
shoe Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Watts is more athletic looking than famed footballer Vinnie Jones.
ButchReedMark Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Or Neil Ruddock, o Neville Southall, or former Wales prop forward Ben Evans, or Shane Warne, several baseball players, and many many more. Watts looks athletic enough. Late 80s Vinnie Jones looked athletic though. Very muscular.
cheapshot Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 E.Watts, to me, is closer to looking like a standard man in the street than to an athlete (or to what I imagine what an athlete looks like). I'm with JVK on this one. But maybe in the context of the time he would look closer to one.
Matt D Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 And really, it wouldn't matter if he was a great wrestler. I mean look at this guy from the same era. He looks about the same as Watts, not far off, maybe a little thicker, but it's like night and day.
JerryvonKramer Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I've got nothing else to say re: Watts himself as this one seems pretty self-evident to me. But I do want to say there's some confusion going on between: 1. People with athletic bodies and 2. People who happen to play sports The two can be mutually exclusive, as Butch's list of lardy footballers can attest.
