Here we go. I had a bit of a taste of recent Lucha but most of my experience is from the 90s. Lots of advertising around the ring and on the TV screen. There are five commentators? Not quite sure where the impact is on that top rope move to finish first fall. It is like a reverse Spanish Fly I guess. It was kind of like a neckbreaker the way he was holding him. We go to the ramp to start second fall. Big impressive looking monkey flip that got some height on to the ramp. I just do not know how these guys are able to move after doing those flipping sentons on to the floor like it is nothing. Some nice moves/reversals here. Big tope by Titan that spills Polvora into crowd. There is a crazy sequence I will not even try to explain. It is probably a signature spot by Titan but damn that should have been the finish. Dangerous head drop ends this one. Pretty good start to the year.

Flair was so frustrating to listen to on those Roundtable shows. I had to take my headphones off multiple times to avoid hearing him. It was a real weak panel overall with Tazz saying nothing and Foley seeming to not want to get into any arguments with Flair. I find my PS3 to be so much better than my Kindle for Network. PS3 has a much better App. Much easier to get around. More likely to have chapter breaks on shows. Kindle App could do a major upgrade. They both need the remember my last spot thing. I love that about Amazon Prime where it loads back up exactly where I left off. Have to think WWE will get around to that function eventually.

Nice to have Pete join the show. Good job with him and Martin taking turns being analyst of matches for Portland. Had watched the matches ages ago but finally got around to listening to the podcast. Titans history with Pete going the full five stars on his rating for Martel/Rose! I had watched the match before, enjoyed it a lot but was still surprised with the top rating. The praise of it had me wanting to watch it again but my wireless connection sucked at the moment so missed out. Hope to give it another watch. It is a heck of a match but I got Backlund/Patera a good bit higher at the moment. Agreed with Martin about the lack of female fan base at Survivor Series 2013. And props for praising Boston this time around after going against them on last show with your love of the Tigers. I wanted to know more about the side bets for the battle royale. So many potential angles to come out of that with guys putting their houses up, etc. They could have renamed it the Toots Mondt Memorial Battle Royale. Bonnema sure loves Sandy Barr. Was cracking up at the popsicle line by him. Yes, Owen makes the announcement about sponsors asking for the tag match to get moved up but he does not mention them! Did Kelly say Baron Mikel was the Denucci of the heels?! What a disservice to the legend Dominic. Pinning off a headlock! I loved it actually. All those cranks of the neck. I think Rose is one of the few guys who can get away with losing like that. Think I side with Martin when it comes to announcers. Many of them just are not good. I rank Vince pretty high but I do give credit to Bonnema from what I've heard so far. He does a really good job of explaining things. When it comes to two out of three falls matches, I feel like I am one of the few who does not like them as much. Pete mentioned the series of them from WCW on their weekly shows. Going through the yearbook, I was exhausted from them after a month. Yes, there is the potential to tell more of a story in the ring but I also feel like they use going to all three falls too much. It is like the first two falls cancel each other out. Keep the Portland shows coming guys.

I bounced around between discs to watch stuff in chronological order. Yeah, you might be changing discs out non stop but I liked getting the angles/promos/matches in proper order. But nothing wrong with just sitting back and watching a disc at a time either.

How is the Network going to affect WWE Home Video?
Kevin Ridge replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Pro Wrestling
I am a pretty big collector of Blu Rays and DVDS from WWE. Probably would have picked this set up if it was released before. But with the network there is very little interest right now for something like this since I can watch all the full PPVs. There is not much stuff out there for pending releases either. I will continue to pick up the major four PPVS for my collection but this year has the potential for me to buy the least of their sets. WWE also seems to be giving up on Blu Ray format in North America. The Best of Raw/Smackdown has been released on Blu for years now but only got a DVD release this time around. -

I think we have just found our co-conspirator on the fake mailbag scheme ran by Parv. Listened to one of the shows (Episode 3) first before watching footage and still had a blast. But I am one of those who likes to watch wrestling first before hearing/reading people talk about results. Watching the stuff first and then listening to this show is just an added to bonus. Because there is some great matches in here and fun to actually watch the matches/promos the guys are talking bout. Thanks for the youtube links for the matches.

I wish I had tried checking out NECW when they use to do shows at Goodtimes in Somerville. Maybe I will check out the latest show online too. The Masshole is a perfect nickname for a Massachusetts based wrestler.

Network debut is almost a week away. We know all the PPVs will be available from the start. What will be the first PPV you want to watch? I usually like to start from the beginning on stuff. Have seen very few full WCW PPVs so that is something I want see. Starrcade 83 seems like the proper start for me. I'll probably focus mostly on WCW at first. However, since Royal Rumble 2014 is probably available at start I might jump into that since have not seen it yet. I may watch full WCW/WWF/ECW shows from 98/99 too to get the full picture of those shows when going through yearbooks.

I am so over the top on my hatred for commercials in general. Do no watch wrestling live currently so it is not something that really effects me. Though Dailymotion pisses me of so much when those commercials every five minutes and then not letting me watch rest of match. But I am not going to rant on that. I watch no current TV at home. Commercials make me automatically change the channel if I have a remote in my hand. I almost never return to channel either. Soccer is the only really thing I watch which has no commercial breaks during game itself. Love Olympic Hockey as they do not use commercials during game either. I am curious how use of commercials will be on WWE Network. I do plan on watching the stuff I want from Raw/Smackdown but wonder if I will be forced to watch commercials.

For being a fan so long it really is not something I put a whole lot of thought into anymore. So very fascinating to me to read about other people. None of my current friends are wrestling fans but I now wonder if any of them are closeted. Keep my level of fandom to myself. I view wrestling as just this hobby of mine for me alone that I enjoy. Some of my family probably knows I went to a few live shows. My nephews were really into it a couple years ago but I never talked to them about it. Though I was not pleased when I found out they got into my DVD collection at parents house. The collector in me was horrified at them scratching up my stuff and breaking it. I go to shows alone myself. Heck, I go to movies alone too. Not something that bothers me. I did enjoy those wrestling viewing parties back in 2000 that I went to. It is a lot of fun to sit around with a couple people and watch some wrestling. Would probably enjoy watching WWE PPVs a lot more if I could still do that. It would have to be someone on the same level as me though for me to watch 80s sets and Yearbooks with. Amazed at you married folks on this board getting away with the amount of wrestling you can watch. I keep my fandom very quiet when it comes to girlfriends. It may come out that I watched some WWE. I have a big shelf with all my movies in my living room. My wrestling stuff is in boxes in my bedroom. But my collection is starting to get pretty big now so harder to hide.

I use Internet Explorer at work and it is probably not the most up to date version so you could be right. Will try using Google Chrome tomorrow at work to see if that works.

Yeah, I was not able to use board at work today as having same issue with page not loading. No luck through Google for me either.

Patrick's lying down doing counting pinfalls bothered me but he was no where near Earl Hebner when it came to being an awful referee.

Free TV Match of the Week, Week 5: January 26 to February 1
Kevin Ridge replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
Virus versus Titan is the big competition to my Raw six man tag match favorite. I am always amazed at those flip sentons to the outside that look so unprotected. That was a great finish with the submission reversal to finish. In the end I'm pretty clear that the Raw six man was the match of the week though. Good stuff to watch overall. -
Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Why has there not been a female wrestling commentator? I ask this from listening to current lucha. I think Stephanie Wyand though I am sure folks can correct me if she actually called matches. If Stephanie Wyand came around years later would she have been Wilma Wyand? -
Yeah, what was up with that finish with the security? Like they were legit trying to do their jobs before getting involved in a wrestling angle. This battle royal was fun to watch though. Especially after having to watch some Canadian battle royal with Kiniski. Thanks Ricky Jackson!

I have tried multiple matches from 2001. I did not have issues with viewing stuff until I hit those January shows in 2001. I had been using Quicktime player on 2000 stuff and had no issues.

Free TV Match of the Week, Week 5: January 26 to February 1
Kevin Ridge replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
Daniel Bryan, Sheamus & Rey Mysterio versus Shield on Smackdown was not as great as Raw match but still a good one. Bryan continues to be he highlight in these matches. Reigns spearing the shit out of Mysterio at the end was great. Good match but the Raw one will beat this out. Tried watching the Main Event match of Langston and Usos versus 3MB but Dailymotion f'n sucks and jobbed me out of video after five minutes. I hate that site so much. When there is an alien evasion that ends planet earth I hope the first strike is against Dailymotion headquarters. Waste of my time. -
Free TV Match of the Week, Week 5: January 26 to February 1
Kevin Ridge replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
Just watched John Cena, Sheamus and Daniel Bryan versus The Shield. First of all I had to use French commentary version and thought this was a plus in itself. This match was loads of fun. Loved Ambrose's hold me back after him tagging out. Watched a previous Bryan versus Rollins match as an extra on some DVD. I just enjoy them two squaring off. I so enjoyed this match though. WWE could almost use a three man tag championship and ditch the doubles belt. Reigns maybe the next big thing but I will miss him being part of The Shield as they are such good trio to watch. Bryan's hot tag in was great. The run in DQ finish might hurt this but If I watch a better match than this for the week than I will be very happy. -
On the largest scale of things I am happy to see switch went off without us losing any threads/posts. I like getting to use Legacy format and have quickly got the feel of the new board. Still in process of going through my yearbook threads and editing all the prior board issues with quotes/apostrophe issues. Loss, feel free to edit my posts as you work through yearbook subject lines. Excellent work though and I am grateful for your time/energy with going back and doing all the editing in yearbook thread topics. Others will definitely feel the same too.
