They also seem to put stuff up and then take it down. I presume most of the time that is due to some type of music royalty issue. Raw episodes 102 and 103 were taken down right after being up. Even episode 101 was removed for a couple days. They don't seem to be doing their proper reviewing of stuff before putting up. The whole thing is still worth it for me but they seem overwhelmed on being able to upload stuff at this time. Going to take a long time for them to get all the Raws and Nitros uploaded. We are not seeing any B and C shows making an appearance anytime soon.

Not following NXT, Main Event and Superstars as much as I did. Just don't have the time to keep up. I still try to catch the Countdown and WrestleMania Rewind stuff as enjoy those. For the most part I am just going through the Raws from mid 90's as they put them up. On episode 103 and have seen them all. Started the Saturday Night Main Event shows. Those are loads of fun to watch. Piper was awesome and I always enjoy listening to Jesse on commentary.

I think I subscribed for a year between 94 to 95. The cover I always remember is Alundra Blayze showing off the implants in a bikini with Diesel eating watermelon. Bret and Razor are just looking on.

Titans of Wrestling #23: Continental Wrestling
Kevin Ridge replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I really appreciate Titans TV for making footage available before hand. Especially since this is my first experience with Continental. DWB is a big favorite of mine though and familiar with some of the other guys. Martin needs to go watch more SMW. DWB went pretty even with Roberts on promos in 94. I don't love heavy punching matches as much as Pete but I do like that these guys make their punches look so convincing. And the promos are top notch. I noticed Flair did a backward flop bump against the Bullet. Don't remember seeing that one before. Very quick match. Solie's call on finished seemed to be on a five second delay. I found Solie to be very entertaining here overall. Full arm drag and a twist sounds delicious. Also enjoyed guys doing their own commentary of matches they were in. The Fullers were great. DWB is great but yeah that was one of the weakest trying to stop a fight attempts ever. Yes, Dirty White Girl is pretty hot. She was missing her outfit there. Wait, so she legit went with Dundee later on? And yeah I love the Dirty White Boy song. I'll admit I was a bit uncomfortable at first with the angle with Pritchard and the whole domestic violence thing. Was getting where Martin was coming from on this one. Solie was something here with his total disregard for DWG. We got a television show to run! The payoff is great though and the hanging spot was crazy. Fun show and anybody can watch the stuff they were talking about. Great to have Johnny along. Always nice to hear some Stu Hart. I hope Harley Race makes a comeback at some point. Also appreciate you guys giving some history of Continental for those of us who are not familiar with it. Great show again.- 12 replies

After going through the 90s, I found 1994 to be one of my favorite years. Two of my favorite matches of all time in Bret/Owen at WrestleMania and Kawada/Misawa. Plenty of high end stuff from all over the world. Super J Cup. As others had mentioned WCW had a great run to start the year. Dusty's awesome promo. The Hogan show did turn things around for the negative. The year as whole does drop off towards the end.

But you would think Kane costing the favorite Ambrose the match would lead to more heat for Kane. That is how it should work. Second the pyro went off the crowd was completely deflated. Kane was introduced last in main event to a very tepid response. We just didn't care about him and the only reaction he got all night was chokeslamming Cena.

At a bar near Garden and the wrestling crowd is singing "he's got the whole world...."

I am going tonight. Didn't know the whole card until reading this post. Better looking card than the last Survivor Series that went to so think will enjoy this more. Had been thinking how this was going to be my first show live that I'd see a World title change before remembering Cena beating Rock at WrestleMania. That show becomes more forgettable for me. I'll be cheering for Cesaro but don't see him winning. Anyone but Orton!

Does anyone still watch wrestling on videotapes?
Kevin Ridge replied to BigBadMick's topic in Pro Wrestling
The worst thing about tapes was me passing out at night and taping over stuff by accident. Had a really good VCR that was still holding up well but left it at my parents house with all my VHS tapes. Don't have a huge collection but had loads of stuff from Japan from 2001-02 and a few Coliseum videos. I'd probably still watch those if I had my VCR. -
[2013-03-03-wXw-16 Carat Gold] Zack Sabre Jr vs Tommy End
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 2013
Didn't know who was who in this one but one of the guys did his whole selling by just sitting on mat. The submission finish was actually a surprise to me since there was so little selling of earlier submissions in match. -
Yep, this is the one that came to my mind. SUWA ripping up the proclamation and getting in the face of Joe Higuchi. Big reaction from the crowd on that one.

Things have slowed down as far as new content release. There has been very little as far as Old School. The first Raw show of 95 was just made available. I'm guessing once they get up to September of that year they will start releasing Nitro episodes too and do the whole Monday Night War stuff that was mentioned earlier on. Still a ways to go though.

How is the Network going to affect WWE Home Video?
Kevin Ridge replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Pro Wrestling
Feels like the Network has really accelerated the future demise of blu ray/dvds. Blu Rays themselves aren't getting released in North America with non major PPVS and the Best of Raw/Smackdown. But they are really running out of ideas as far as what to put out. Lots of repeats as far as matches continuing to show up on newly released sets. The Heyman set is about the only interesting thing on the horizon. Folks can probably just wait it out for documentary to show up on Network anyways. I picked up WrestleMania and Warrior Blu Rays but that's been it for the year. Huge drop off for me since I previously was a big collector. -
I've always pictured Samoa as 8th continent of the world.

Just got through watching all the 93/94 Raw episodes on Network. I really got to enjoy the McMahon/Savage partnership on commentary and you could totally tell Vince really enjoyed being with Randy. They were fun to listen to. The final show Randy did though was interesting. Multiple times on commentary he said he was tired of sitting in this chair. He obviously still wanted to be wrestling.

Ricky Marvin looks as big as Crazy now. Couldn't believe that was him. Granted I haven't seen anything of him since probably 2006. Crazy doesn't waste any time as he does the balcony moonsault about three minutes into the match. He can still hit the big spots.

I see I am in the same boat as you guys. Fell asleep twice watching this one before finally getting through it the third time. About the only thing I took out of this is that Shinzaki still looks the same.

Been too long since I have listened to you guys. I kept putting it off as this was one of the first shows that footage wasn't easily available for me. Like to watch the stuff first before then listening to show. The Bruno/Italians/Godfather stuff to start off show was so funny complete with Parv's pronunciation of paisan. One of you said you guys could do a whole show on it and I agree. So disappointed that I didn't get to see that interview of Garea with Kal. The brief audio clip sounded great but just to be able to see the reaction of Garea to Kal. As someone who originated from across the pond I am going to have to take Parv's side in the "billed from Europe" debate. Looking forward to the Continental show as seems I will be able to watch all the footage!

Vince repeatedly discussing current events (at the time in 94) and Savage trying to get through doing promos for USA original movies is becoming a guilty pleasure of mine.

[2013-03-02-ROH-11th Anniversary Show] Kevin Steen vs Jay Lethal
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 2013
The run ins had me wondering about the Code of Honor. The ROH I remember tried to be different than WWE with the code and declaring themselves wrestling and not sports entertainment. But here we are doing a lame run in at the end of the match. Still not sure how I feel about Steen yet. Have seen a few matches of his but a lot seems to depend on who his opponent is on whether I like match or not. Though it still has a small time feel doing to crowd/building size, ROH does have some nice TV production. Also, been ages since I have heard Kevin Kelly doing commentary. -
[2013-02-10-NJPW-The New Beginning] Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Karl Anderson
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 2013
I guess there will always be an Anderson family member. Not familiar with Karl but he must have tried doing this Ace Crusher/Diamond Cutter move about twenty times in the match and never connected. Was getting comical for me to see him never succeed up to the very end of the match.- 8 replies

Well done Loss. It really was fascinating to watch this stuff happen in Memphis.
