  1. We always had it here in the Chicago area.
  2. Greg Oliver wrote a nice obit on Slam if anybody is interested. http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Wrestling/2016/01/18/22594501.html
  3. To me their idea was to only have certain wrestlers have it to keep it somewhat special or at least fit the gimmick they were going for. Obviously Vince or someone changed their mind along the way. When someone like Hogan came out to "Eye of the tiger" it seemed like a big deal. Once everybody had music it really watered entrances down.
  4. I always thought the WWF 80's peak in general was at WM3, so I guess Hulk's would be the same.
  5. Edit - Nevermind, I figured out my dumb question.
  6. Nice review. I've been on the fence about grabbing this and after reading your review I will definitely get it.
  7. I thought I remembered reading Bob Orton Jr. was fired for that. I actually can't remember Orton ever wrestling there, so maybe I'm confusing him with another story.
  8. I'm not even close. I'm still working on the tag team list as well. I have my top 10 teams, it's the other 15 I'm constantly changing around. My goal is to be done with this portion by next weekend. The top 100 I still have so many guys to slot properly. I started taking the top guys (IMO) from every territory or promotion and then tried slotting them. Problem with that is some guys I have multiple times. So do they make it higher due to this? I'm still not sure. Right now my list looks more like an old PWI territory top ten ranking than a 100 GWE list.
  9. I was binge watching early 90's WCW and I forgot how much I disliked Hayes and Garvin as a team. I can't believe the push they were still getting in 92. They just wanted to dance around and lip sync. At this point wrestling wise in their careers they were done.
  10. One of my kids woke up during the Reigns vs Sheamus match to get a drink of water and looked at the tv and asked me why Vince was wearing fake muscles. I was still laughing today about it. Vince has better arms than 90% of the roster. Just crazy no matter what he's taking.
  11. Stay strong and positive and beat this thing. Good luck with the surgery.
  12. This was more over a period of time than a one time incident. The Edge Rated R Superstar stuff with Lita where he was dry humping her in the ring and doing other sexual gestures. Maybe not the scummiest, certainly tasteless.
  13. I just started reading the Mildred Burke book yesterday. So far they seem to cover the early years of early women's wrestling decently. Probably not too many other books on the subject matter to begin with.
  14. Just for grins I decided to watch the Martel vs Bret match from 3/19/90 on the Network from MSG to see if either guy was phoning it in. It wasn't a classic or anything but a decent match where both guys worked hard for the 20 minute duration. Is this the norm or an exception for a Bret house show match? I'm not sure as I'm more familiar with his PPV stuff. This has me intrigued now.
  15. Not to turn this thread into Bret love. I absolutely loved the way Bret sold exhaustion. He was good at selling moves, but great at selling fatigue during a match. Definitely one of the better guys in doing that. I also loved Benoit in that regards.
  16. Do you enjoy the Worldwide and Pro shows? The atmosphere is different compared to the Saturday Night show due to being in an actual arena.
  17. I hated when Hulk won at WM9. Especially the way it was done. I was almost 20 years old at the time and I was enjoying Bret as champion despite being a huge Hulk fan 10 years prior. Hulk was just stale by this time.

    NXT talk

The Chicago show sold out 1500 tickets in a minute. Would of been fun to check out live. I guess it wasn't meant to be.
  19. Man was that was hilarious.
  20. I would live to see this match as well. I'm big fan of both guys. I've been wanting to read Backlund's book, I just can't get over that digital price of $18. I'll have to bite the bullet one of these days.
  21. One of my favorite moments was when Hogan took on Hercules. Not that I wanted Herc to win, I just liked seeing different guys for Hulk to conquer. The Macho Man vs Bret match was a real eye opening experience. I always saw Bret as a tag guy until that match. I had never seen Bret take his signature bump off the apron onto the guard rail before that match. That spot really blew me away back then.
  22. Erik Watts & Chad Fortune? I dont think so. Didn't they have some sort of NASCAR gimmick? These guys reminded me of a cross between goth and Night at the Roxbury. Now that I think about it more it was almost like a prelude to Kronik. Similar shirts with no patterns. I'll have to research more when I get a chance and see if I can figure it out.
  23. There was some team in WCW late 90's that I either saw on Nitro or Thunder that wore some sort of long sleeve black pantyhose see thru shirts that looked awful. I only saw them once as they kind of looked like High Voltage. I forgot who they jobbed to.
  24. Jimmy Jacobs had an awful outfit. He had one leg of his pants missing. I saw a girl wrestler in the 80' recently wearing a similar style. Just hideous. I'm not sure if he still wears it or not as I don't keep up with Indy wrestling anymore.
  25. Originally I was going to include promos. I changed my mind eventually when I started rating the tag teams since a good portion of the teams I was watching were good in the ring and boring on the mic. It ended up not being a very fair evaluator. Along with ring work, I'll rate feuds and longevity ( length of prime years).
