  1. It was a very weird show to people who watch GCW regularly. It just did not feel like a GCW show at all. Aside from the Gage entrance, virtually everything else was so sanitized. I get that that’s the cost of running in NYC but I don’t really think they need to do it again since it limits so much of what they normally do.
  2. As with most WWE shows, the less engaged you are with the company, the more tolerable the show is. I didn’t think either Rumble was particularly good but I’ve used four hours in worse ways before. I haven’t watched any full WWE show since last Mania so this was primarily just inoffensive to me.
  3. Tony Khan has hinted at something along the lines of this in the past.

  5. I was there in the front row for the Ibushi match and that was when he first started to turn the corner for me. I was still pretty skeptical of him as a top guy in a nationally touring company when AEW started but just kept getting better and better and honing his character. I think he has cut a lot of the superfluous stuff he used to do in-ring, too, and he is really getting good. The Bryan matches were both outstanding and I can’t wait to see what’s next for him. On his current trajectory, it’s not hard to envision him on the final list.
  6. Randomly watching AWA Super Sunday and in the tag with McIntyre vs Grable & Richter, Martin really stood out to me as being way ahead of everyone else in the ring with her. Sneaky good is a fair description.
  7. Someone should tell them that just because a guy is going to be taking a break for a real neck injury doesn’t mean they need to be given a neck injury in kayfabe, too. I was going to watch this show prior to the Roman news but once that came down I just kept watching WCCW.
  8. I’m personally just pumped to see cocaine playing a large role for a major wrestling company again.
  9. I’ve been re-listening to the Lapsed Fan’s “Lamentable Tragedy of World Class” series and it spurred me to also go back and watch the WCCW set. I don’t think there’s any wrestling I watching enjoy more than WCCW when it was at its hottest. I always want to experience my wrestling viscerally and World Class scratches that itch. Throw in the absolutely *bleak* reality behind the scenes and the promotion checks all of my boxes. It’s absurd, it’s dark, and the crowd is hot.
  10. In reality they have already been a content factory basically ever since the Network launched. It’s just become more obvious in the past couple years. I just hope whoever buys them has a better-organized streaming platform than fucking Peacock.
  11. Is there any sort of resource that lets you cross reference the way the episodes were numbered prior to Peacock with how they are now with just dates? For instance If I’m trying to find WCCW episodes 25, 26, 28, etc?
  12. It's too bad but I can't blame them if they got paid that much.
  13. They destroyed an incredible European wrestling scene and they are left with… a trainer. What a shame.
  14. Truly bonkers she hasn’t been a featured TV wrestler before. So fantastic.
  15. So sorry to hear of Jimmy’s passing. Terrible that his issues with addiction resulted in his amputations, which I had not been aware of. He was very talented and it’s hard to believe he was only 39. RIP.
  16. It's on my winter to-do list to do some catching up on watching/re-watching these ROH shows and the podcast. I'm sure I won't be the only one feeling that fresh surge of ROH nostalgia and wanting to dig in on the old stuff.
  17. When I first started getting heavily back into watching wrestling after taking a break, ROH is what hooked me back in. Went to several shows over the past decade, including a couple PPV’s. I have lost touch with the company over the past few years but I’ll always look back fondly on them.
  18. Give me HOOK vs Dante ASAP.
  19. That’s my exact feeling about him. He was my favorite wrestler a few years ago. The Philly Takeover match vs Andrade is one of my favorite matches ever, along with the post-match angle with Ciampa returning. Now I have very little interest in seeing him wrestle. They just ruin dudes.
  20. I think it’s pretty much mutual. I’m guessing they weren’t exactly falling over themselves to keep him and he wasn’t going to take a low offer to stay and do jobs in NXT. It’s pretty clear in the Nick Khan era that they don’t care at all about losing wrestlers who they think have no chance of ever being a serious money-maker for them. Independent wrestling will be better for it.
  21. Yeah I haven’t watched any NXT in a long time prior to this show and that was my main takeaway, as well. What a stud. Thought the women’s War Games match was terrible but the mid-card was mostly inoffensive.
  22. The way things are looking right now, NJPW is going to be the least of things ruined by omicron.
