  1. I just watched the Savage vs Michaels matches from the 92 European Tour. The matches were very good, so my question is why did they never work a proper program?
  2. I would take Omega over Styles. Not that I even really like Omega. I think Styles is a better worker and a better athlete. Styles works better as a heel and as a babyface. However Omega has the bigger personality, is the better promo, and is the physically larger person. And most importantly Omega has proven to be a better draw. You look at the numbers NJPW did in any building with with Omega on top vs Styles on top they did better with Omega.
  3. 88-94 1- Hogan 2- Hansen 3- Sting Now- 1- Kenny Omega 2- Braun Strowman 3- Matt Riddle
  4. Wow no way.... but everything I've ever read about the guy was how he was the biggest thing going in the UK for like 20 years and how much money he and Haystacks drew.... so that's all pro wrestling style exaggeration? I mean the stuff about his work sucking that is in Dynamite's book, that's true, but the stuff about him being a big deal, that's bullshit pretty much?
  5. YES to Miyahara vs Suwama 10/9 Really enjoyed this. the limb work set up some great stuff as it limited Miyahara's mobility (and he's all about pinballing around) and it took away or limited parts of his offense such as the bicycle kick and the running knee. Miyahara is awesome at fighting from underneath, there sort of is this Miyahara match formula that I enjoy, it involves big bombs and fighting from underneath and a bomb filled yet not over the top closing stretch. The finish caught me by surprise also.
  6. we only get 10?? oops ok 1- Pedro Morales - duh 2- George Steele - faced Bruno, Pedro, Backlund, and Hogan at MSG 3- Sharpe Brothers - made Rikidozan 4- Los Misioneros de la Muerte - basically invented/popularized the current format of 2 out of 3 falls captain falls trios matches 5- Goldberg - biggest draw in wrestling for a short period of time 6- Sputnik Monroe- held the attendance record in Memphis for like 40 years, and is solely responsible for desegregating sporting events in the state of Tennessee 7- Tamura - i mean duh, the guy may be the GOAT, he headlined at the Tokyo Dome, Saitama Super Arena, and the Budokuon multiple times. 8- Big Daddy- yeah he sucked but he sold out Wembly multiple times 9- Akiyama- Sold out the Dome vs Kobashi when wrestling in Japan was all but dead 10- Kerry Von Erich - NWA champ, his 20 day reign were the last NWA title changes while there still was an NWA.

  8. Kevin Owens is probably the one guy on the roster I don't have a problem with Shane being able to go toe to toe with, simply because Shane looks like he'd beat the shit out of Owens in a real fight. Shane is bigger than Owens, and he's in better shape.
  9. If we are counting managers/commentators, I'm going to throw Joel Gertner out there. "Whats a Mexican Deathmatch? Does the loser drink the water?"
  10. I learned what kind of glove a coalminer wears.
  11. In other news, Eddie Vetter bought the copyright to the ABA name as well as their video library. While he understands that no team in the ABA has played a game in over 35 years, the league once had a strong brand and he sees a market for teams such as the Carolina Cougars and the Baltimore Hustlers.
  12. So how has your personal taste in wrestling changed? As we get older it seems our taste or interests in everything sort of grows up as well. How has this affected the wrestling you watch, the way you watch it, and the styles, promotions or workers you prefer?
  13. From the Tokyo Dome Super Show- Tenryu vs Savage Hansen vs Hogan
  14. Chris Masters actually got to be pretty good in the ring! I thought he was green in his first run then went to the indies for a couple of years got better and was pretty good in his second run. The past 5 years on the indies he's had a handful of good matches pop up online.
  15. Nominating- Dr Wagner Jr vs Psycho Clown Mask vs Mask 8/26 Triplemania 25 Loved this. This is a good ol apustas match. Plenty of emotion, brawling, big dramatic near falls. Lots of blood, mask ripping, etc. Dramatic post match. Great stuff.
  16. lol
  17. Dave Meltzer is one guy, sharing his own opinions and his own biases that are treated as gospel. Rotten Tomatoes provides access to 20 plus reviews for each movies, some from respected film critics at major publications, some from random random bloggers. If a consensus of the reviews are positive, the film is certified fresh, if a consensus of the reviews are negative the film, its certified rotten. In wrestling there is no consensus, its just Meltzer. With movies if you think the guy who reviews for one publication is an ass, you read the reviews from another publication. There isn't that in wrestling because there isn't anybody who does what Meltzer does on the same scale, so we are kinda stuck with the guy for better or worse. On Rotten Tomatoes, you look at the percentage. If it's good, it might sway your decision on if to see it or not. Meltzer praising a match is the same thing to smarks. That's what I meant. Not really. With rotten tomato I can find if the critics who usually like sort of movies that I like gave the film a good review. The databases of wrestling matches (profightdb, cagematch, etc) only have ratings from 1 critic.
  18. Who was booking NOAH during the NJPW juniors vs NOAH juniors under card feud and the Sterness vs Burning main event feud? I thought at the time NOAH was the best booked promotion promotion out there. Looking back, they never properly built Akiyama or gave him a proper title run that would have cemented him on that ace level. Did his booking duties and the conflict of interest have anything to do this? Also did anybody ever get heat on their heels the way Paul Heyman did? In an era when the business was more exposed than ever, in front of an audience that was "smart" or it least thought it was, he got legit white heat on all of his top heels. Anybody who had a run as one of the top 2 or 3 heels there - Sandman, Cactus, Austin, Raven, Douglas, Taz, Sabu, Dudleys, Credible, Corino, Rhino, etc got more heat than any heels have gotten in the past decade.
  19. YES- Lesnar vs Stroman vs Reigns vs Joe Summerslam A 4 way match that featured Lesnar as a babyface in peril? I'm in. Everybody in the match came out looking stronger that they went in. Which is rare for a WWE match, where the status quo is guys usually come out looking weaker. No- Shuji Ishikawa vs Kento Miyahara 8/27 The suplex trading spot, some of the over the top aspects took me out of it. I may give it another shot. Nominating- Kairi Sane vs Shayna Baszler Mae Young Invitation Finals 9/12 Loved this. Kairi comes in with the dinged up elbow against somebody capable of ripping her arm off. Baszler's ribs get dinged up. They tell a simple story with great limb work and athletic spots that play into the finish without doing anything crazy or dangerous.

Know you know what Jordan needs- to be in a tag team with a really strong tag partner. You know to be the Robert Gibson to somebody else's Ricky Morton... oh wait....
  22. We have a worst booker ever thread that has been going strong for 5 years of Vince Russo hate. I thought we should have a greatest booker ever thread. I'll start off by throwing out some of by favs - Baba, Watts, and Heyman.
  23. Stalker Ishikawa. Sandman.
